I believe that Edmund Burke would consider today’s “liberals” and their positions to be unrecognizable from the fundamental philosophy that he wrote about.

Philosophically, conservatism has absorbed many views that were once considered liberal…especially where the importance and value of individuals and their freedoms are concerned. This is in contrast to the left-wing focus on groups and identity politics.

If one’s liberal one would defend their right to stop work without incurring penalty. But would you really be honour-bound to not cross a picket line where the issue doesn’t affect your rights? So no real hypocrisy there.

Whereas if you’re left wing, there is more of a moral obligation to share your fellow workers “pain” by putting yourself or your plans out for the common cause. So in that case, crossing a picketline would be hypocritical.

I wouldn’t cross a picketline myself unless it absolutely necessary (e.g. being 10 years old, stuck on the tarmacadam at Holyhead ferryport in Wales at 3am – I’m getting on that damned bus)

As for Fox and Sky News; I am no fan of Rupert Murdoch, but God forgive me I have stopped to watch Fox News on satellite – he evidentally ploughed money into the screen design and colouring because the layout is so much more compelling to stop and watch when scanning the channels… damned right wing conspiracy!!!!

Wilson and Plame are and have always been highly political people – which is their right. But I don’t see them as serving their country as much as serving their own reputations.

I know nothing about this movie, but I’m guessing it won’t have much of a sense of humility or humor. Its subjects certainly don’t.

However, Candykay why the Plame/Wilson dis? What the hell did they do wrong? Plame was undercover, until outed. Her job was to track lose nukes, kind of an important job for the safety of our country. Wilson did nothing wrong except expose that the Bush administration’s claim of Saddam buying yellow cake(the entire rational for war) was completely bogus.

Both have done a service to this country and for truth and justice in general, your comment makes me think you watch Fox News for information.
