Paulina Poizkova, a former supermodel and one of the judges on America’s Next Top Model, announced last night on Craig Ferguson that she was fired from ANTM - over the phone. Craig announced Poizkova in conjunction with the season finale of ANTM to air the following night, but the conversation soon took a turn for the negative. Craig asked her what it’s like working with Tyra Banks and then it got awkward. “Tyra could be a barrel of laughs,” Craig opened. Paulina responded “Yeah, I’m sure she can.” Burn.
Paulina Porizkova claims she was fired from “America’s Next Top Model” on her birthday, over the phone, and told she had a big ego.
Talking to Craig Ferguson Tuesday night, the supermodel said she’d been pink slipped from the CW reality show hosted by Tyra Banks, on which she has been a judge.
“Listen, do you know why I am in Los Angeles? Because I am looking for a job, because I was fired by ‘America’s Next Top Model’ on my birthday,” Paulina told Craig.
“The reason I was told I was fired was because, it seemed that ‘America’s Next Top Model’ has gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat and the fat was me,” Paulina recounted. “So I figured it was either that or my gigantic huge ego. Which I wasn’t aware of before I was told by the producers that I have an ego problem.”

Craig suggested that the firing is due to a rivalry, which Paulina deniesed because she says she was working for and not with Tyra. But I’m inclined to believe that he’s exactly right. Janice Dickinson, who essentially had Paulina’s spot on the show when ANTM was still new, claims that she too was fired from ANTM because Tyra was jealous of her and the attention she was getting. She also said that Tyra “is no walk in the park.”
Paulina is no Janice - she’s not nasty or crazy or an attention-seeker. However, she’s smarter and funnier than her boss, and I’m sure Tyra found that intimidating. Tyra’s star is fading. For a while, she was being hailed as the next Oprah, but her gimmicks have quickly grown stale and no one’s really paying attention - at least not in the media. If there’s one thing Tyra wants, it’s attention, and she’s not going to let any other supermodel take the spotlight away from her.

paulina brought the little smidgen of credibility and class to that show and they just got rid of her. so now we can be 100% focused on stupid tyra’s lame antics and self congratulatory attention hungry overacting. what a disappointment.

Paulina always was a little full of herself. True. Tyra’s big ego made her think that because Paulina is ten years older than her that she wasn’t a threat to her attention but it got back to her on the message boards, forums and blogs about how so many hail paulina as one of the most hottest models of all time. She is ten times more prettier than Tyra. Mark, long in the tooth? I bet you say that about Christy Brinkley who is in her fifties. Age isn’t a factor here, real beauty is and Evangelista has a bulbous nose and weird nostrils.

Paulina has always told it like it is. She has a lot of class as well and is quite smart. I really enjoyed watching her on ANTM. This is really too bad.

A stupid show poorly executed that should have been canceled months ago. Its continuance is a testament to stupidity and ego worship.

If anyone should be kicked off the judge’s panel, it’s J. Alexander. I get that he’s Tyra’s best friend and the premier runway coach in the industry, but as a judge on the show, he’s embarrassing to watch. His stupid gimmicks and impersonations kind of push the already campy and laughable show past the point of any credibility whatsoever. The last episode with the “owl hooting” being subtitled just went too far for me. Not funny, and cringe-worthy. There’s a fine line between silly and just plain dumb. I thought Paulina was a pretty honest judge. She had her own opinion and wasn’t afraid to stick to it. Janice was more fun to watch though. Bring back Janice!

I loved Janice on the show and Paulina. And yes, they did just get rid of the only credible model - stupid. Wonder what they did to piss off Twiggy?

MJ, Totally agree. Watching J. Alexander week to week is painful. If he truly is the premier runway coach in the industry, then the industry is in trouble!! He’s a joke. Tyra acts like a fool, but it’s her gig and therefore her forum to do whatever she likes, including firing Paulina.

Come on guys, you know it only room for one Tyrannasaurus Banks on that show, and at the rate that she’s growing, there won’t be room for any of the present judges to sit soon.

Paulina, is classier ‘way more gorgeous than Tyra’ and it’s a shame she was fired. Have you noticed that it’s only Tyra, as one of the judges, that keeps getting close-ups??? None of the other judges are given any attention. Tyra is NOT a nice person but clearly complexed and DEFINITELY threatened by Paulina.

She wasn’t bad, but she wasn’t great either. She even said that they didn’t need her, and they didn’t. It’s just not a big loss to the show.

count me out now……i was only tuning in to see Paulina…she’s still beautiful, and she’s not above poking fun of herself. The intelligence and beauty was much too much for Ms. Tyra to handle.

Tyra is out of control. Every season got worse and worse until I couldn’t watch it. The antics, the costumes, the makeovers (ugh) tooo much…campy is the perfect word, MJ. Deplorable and a complete embarrassment to the model industry..btw…my sis works in NYC recruiting models for an agency, and she’s met a few from the show (most famous was that runner up for cycle 7…what was her name (ha..I’m proving my own point)..something Rose, but my sis told me that ANTM is basically a death sentence for your modeling career …no agency wants them, and who wants to be attached to that ridiculous show.
I like Paulina, and hopefully she can find a better job.

I thought Paulina was mean-spirited and definitely DID have an ego problem. Tyra and J.Alexander also have laughable ridiculous egos, but if Tyra was fed up with Paulina, it was her show and she can do what she wants. Nigel is hot and awesome!

I think that trya and paulina both have huge egos and things on the show are getting a little out of control but that it makes it fun to watch because you can just laugh at the stupid things people are saying. I think that paulina sould have been fired and that they should bring back twiggy or janice. Twiggy was funny and very nice and Janice was really funny and made the show a lot funner to watch. But when i think about it i dont give about what judge is there or not i am just so upset that allison didn’t win that i dont even care.

Paulina was rude with all models. I remember one time she said in front of one of them that she looked stupid…Another time she said that models cannot have big lips, the model she mentioned had a beautiful heart mouth; another time she said that a 25 years model was too old, Paulina you are not so pretty and you are aging badly, go home biach

Paulina has class. Tyra is completely obnoxious and that phoney accent she puts on is distgusting. J. Alexander is embarassing. Paulina is beautiful and certainly knows what it takes to be a top model. I do think Paulina was a threat to Tyra. I won’t be watching this show anymore. It is complete trash and so is Tyra!

Paulina just thinks she is better than everyone and it really shows. She’s a has been and I really don’t know where she’s going to work in LA. She is no Linda Evangelista and she is way Long in the Tooth.
