Because the cable news was so depressing last night, I ended up watching some of the CMAs, which is rare for me. I don’t flat-out hate country music, but I tend to avoid watching the country music awards shows. I was reminded why I avoid them last night: the sound quality was sub-par, the camera work and cutaways were shoddy and it felt like a good old fashioned fistfight was about to break out at any minute. Anyway, you can see the list of winners and nominees here. Keith Urban was up for several awards, which is why Nicole Kidman was there, to support her husband. I’ve gotten so used to seeing Nicole at these country-music events, even though I sometimes feel like she’s doing some kind of Country Barbie Cosplay. Nicole’s dress last night was Gucci. I’m not feeling it, although I kind of hate Gucci’s entire line these days. Also: Nicole and Keith are getting his-and-hers tweaking. It’s crazy.
Carrie Underwood in Michael Cinco. Well… this deviates from her usual “sparkly and clingy” red carpet look. This is more of a full-fledged princess dress. Still pretty boring though.
Taylor Swift made a “surprise appearance” at the end of the show to present the artist of the year award to Garth Brooks. She wore Julien Macdonald. The dress is fine. The hair is struggling.
Faith Hill in Armani Prive. She’s so much the First Lady of Country, so this dress felt appropriate. I saw her present and I thought she was hammered though.
Miranda Lambert in Georges Hobeika. The top part is okay, but the skirt is bad. That’s her boyfriend, Anderson East.
Jennifer Nettles in J. Mendel. This is so weird. Are those poppies? Paintball squibs?
And finally, Sharon Stone was there for some reason???

Wow…what is going on with Faith? Craziness!
How did her nose get so much longer? She was always model beautiful but there’s something off with her face and it’s not just normal aging or bad plastic surgery.
Faith is one of those people that every time I look at her she looks different. And not necessarily in a plastic surgery/fillers kind of way. It’s weird. I wonder if she’s one of those people that gain/lose weight in their face first above all. I saw her in a commercial the other day and I thought she looked great, like a naturally good version of her peak days. Then this. Ugh.
She rarely wears her hair away from her face. She has a much narrower face shape than most people realize plus her ears are larger and stick out a bit making her nose seem more prominent. Hair cut makes a big difference, but there’s some eye tweaking too.
Nicole and Keith must have his and her syringes right on the bed side tables cause they are looking pulled to all hell. She’s out of control with the Botox.
Not to mention, Faith’s face shows when she gains/loses weight, plus it depends on how much makeup she wears. When she crossed over in 1999/2000 she drastically changed her image – she lost weight, upgraded her clothes, and wore more makeup. So what we think of her, while lovely, is still something of a construct. And there’s at least a little work happening there.
To me Faith’s face just looks like age and weight loss in her face, but I haven’t seen her in photos in years.
OK I was listening to two makeup and hair people on the radio and they said, we probably haven’t seen Niicole Kidman’s real natural curly red hair in years and years, that she wears wigs most of the time. If the front is out that’s all of her hair we see, the rest are supposedly wigs and she supposedly has a ton of lace front wigs that are undetectable.
I never thought of Nicole as a wig person but now that I look at some of her hair changes. I wonder.
Probably also the fact that Nicole is in her 40’s and is likely going white/grey in the hair is a reason she might have chosen wigs? I always thought she was dyeing her hair blonde because it was easier to maintain than continuously dyeing it a natural-looking red (I think reds can be tricky to get right).
Keith’s work is looking pretty good. But Nicole is getting a evil-ish look in the top part of her face (maybe the brows) that weirds me out! Is that a result of botox?
Faith looks tired, plastic, and gaunt. She used to be so beautiful.
That is the worst I’ve ever seen her look. She looks like a Heidi Klum halloween mask model of herself.
I agree. She’s got that botoxed “surprised eyebrow” plastic look. Why can’t these people just age gracefully? They would be much more attractive and at least look like themselves.
Her Mother passed away this weekend and they buried her on Monday. She was probably sad, exhausted and stressed.
I think Faith’s mom just died so that probably factored into her behavior and look. I don’t see her as the First Lady of Country Music. She’s relevant now because of who she is married to. Her albums were great but seems she is no retired or something, unfortunate because I like her work.
I was just about to post a snarky comment and then looked up another article first.
This was the same day as her mom’s funeral. I would probably not look my best, either. I know she has a LOT of crazy work done in the past, but there has got to be a lot of grief and stress going on right now, too.

In August, ACM gave the Merle Haggard Spirit Award to Miranda Lambert. That tells you all you need to know about the state of country music today. Look, if she would have possibly written even one word or note of her hit “The house that made me,” then maybe I would soften a bit, but that isn’t how it’s done in this town. The industry here creates new Miranda-bots every year, fawns over them, and then at the same time actively works against bona fide talent like Chely Wright, who exposed their hypocrisy when she came out as gay in 2010 and was run out of town.
Way to pick one of the few songs she doesn’t have writing/co-writing credit for…sounds like you have an axe to grind.

I’ve been listening to and loving Miranda Lambert for years (i.e. before everyone new who she was). She’s a great songwriter and singer.

Days of Thunder has been an playing on tv a lot lately. Now, I understand it was 25 years ago, but Nicole was so gorgeous! It just saddens me to see these naturally beautiful women refuse to allow themselves to age gracefully, instead of desperately trying to turn back the clock. Frozen face aside she’s still beautiful, but I bet she’d be even more so if she stopped messing with her face.

My personal opinion? Once you’re in your 40s, you need a bit of cushion on your bones. It makes your skin look plumper and thus you look younger. I’m speaking from personal experience. Faith and Nicole, I’m talking to you.

I swear, Keith Urban is one of the least sexy men on earth for me. That metrosexual, orange, wax-like look is so unattractive on a man (on a woman too, but especially on a man). Such a shame, Nicole’s face was actually looking great recently since she’d let some of her ‘work’ settle. She was looking more pretty and natural than she had in a while. Obviously that didn’t last, she went back to the Dr for unneeded upkeep and now has that permanently ‘surprised’ look. The arched eyebrows give it away. Why oh why??
Won’t even comment on Keith egads. The couple that botoxes together stays together I guess. That must be the binding thing for them, since the tabs keep calling them broken up.

I’ve also never found Keith Urban remotely attractive. I figure he probably spends more time on his hair than me, so that kills pretty much any hotness instantaneously. Seems like a nice enough guy though.
