Michael Bublé’s Facebook account posted a statement on Friday from the singer and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, that confirmed that their oldest son, Noah, three, has been diagnosed with cancer. The statement read:

Michael had to cancel performances in June to deal with his own health, which resulted in vocal cord surgery. The family lives in Argentina, where Luisana is from, and had recently traveled to the US to seek treatment for Noah for what they thought was the mumps. Unfortunately, what they thought was mumps was instead diagnosed as cancer. The couple also has another son, Elias, who was born in January this year.

Michael and Luisana have not disclosed what type of cancer Noah has but Luisana’s sister, Daniela, did give a statement saying it’s not leukemia and not the central nervous system as so many have assumed. She would not elaborate beyond that but asked that people not speculate until Michael and Luisana release further statements at a later date. Michael was slated to host the JUNO Awards in April but there is no word on whether he will step down. I assume that will all depend on what Noah’s treatments entail. I hope Michael will be there only because that would mean Noah is on his way to recovery. Like many of you, I have been gutted since I read this news. I’ve been a longtime fan of Michael’s for his singing, yes, but also for his sense of humor and because of things like this (slightly NSFW – language):

I wish them all the best during this time, especially little Noah who has had a lot to deal with at just three.

Any guesses who our favourite superhero is ? Hint .. It rhymes with bider-can #argentina #peterporker #likefatherlikeson

How heartbreaking. such an awful lot to deal with for a little boy 🙁

I always view Buble as a bit of an advent calendar – you know when he’s on TV its getting near Christmas. Hope lots of people will be sending them good vibes this year.

  2. paolanqar says:

This is truly heartbreaking. And Michael is such a nice guy…
No one should go through anything like this. Especially a child.
I hope he will recover completely..at least Michael and his wife have the means to give their son the best medical care in the world.

  3. LiterallyaShambles says:

Poor baby. Holding this sweet child in my heart. 😭

  4. Nicole says:

Such an awful thing to have to go through. I’m hoping his family stays strong through this difficult time. 🙁

  5. Lucy says:

Luisana is well loved here, I’m not a fan or anything but I was still so upset about this. Thankfully they have the means to give him a good treatment. I keep them on my best wishes and hopefully they’ll head onto aa complete recovery.

  6. original kay says:

    Devastating 🙁

  7. Sixer says:

My Hodgkin disease (lymphoma) was initially diagnosed through a lump in the neck.

    I’ll leave the speculation there.

    Best wishes to the family.

    • Cee says:

Sixer, the rumour mill in Argentina is stating that it is in fact Hodgkin. I wish they would wait until Luisana and Michael are ready to give out any further statements, but the gossip rags are sh!t everywhere in the world.

      • Sixer says:

I don’t want to speculate about a child either.

Happy to announce that I survived round one AND round two AND that round two was over a decade ago, however.

      • Crimson says:

@Sixer- I am very happy for you and that you survived both episodes. Best wishes for continuing good health!

Growing up, our little neighbor girl (11 y.o.) had it and also came out of treatment healthy and got on with her life. It is such a shock to find out this diagnosis, but it typically affects people under age 30.

In January,1993, pro hockey great Mario Lemieux, at 27, interrupted his hockey career to undergo radiation treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma after an abnormal lymph node was found and removed from his neck. Unbelievably, on the day of his last treatment he took to the ice and played. Hodgkins Lymphoma, if detected early, has a cure rate of 95+%.

Best wishes to Noah. May his recovery be complete.

My father died of non-Hodgins lymphoma (well, of pneumonia he contracted inbetween of having his immune system weakened and planned stem cells transplantation). He survived round one, but round two got him in less than a year. One of the first things re his cancer I remember was my mom arguing with him to go and have those lumps in the neck checked out. But that was all 15 – 23 years ago and from what I hear treatments have gotten much better through the years and now patients have much better prospects after the diagnosis.

      • Cee says:

My father had cancer when I was very young, and he was given a 40% chance of survival. All I remember are flashes of those 2 long years, and most of those flashes are terrifying and sad.

        Cancer sucks.

      • Sixer says:

        RIP your dad, fruitloops.

I had a big scare when immune-weakened from the chemo. Cause? Would you believe it, a cold sore. Within a day, one cold sore had gone to a gazillion – inside and outside my mouth. They got it under control quickly, but it was scary.

      • swak says:

@Cee – hope all gets better for you. I, luckily, only had to watch for 3 months for cancer take my dad. I can’t even imagine 2 years! Prayers and good wishes going your way.

  8. Lindy79 says:

Such sad awful news for anyone to get, let alone a parent. Heres hoping it’s been xaught early and he recovers fully.

Saw him live a few years ago in Dublin. Hes got a great presence and rapport with the audience. He took out his mic and sang with no music and it was brilliant. You could hear him in a massive arena that had gone silent.

  9. swak says:

Best of luck to his family and the little guy!

  10. serena says:

Sh*t.. I’m so sorry for him, it must be terrible and heartbroking.. I hope he’ll recover soon 🙁

  11. Miss M says:

I am a huge Michael Buble and This is heartbreaking news. I remember him telling on his concert in Boston years ago that when they got engaged she made him wear an engagement band. It was really cute. So, i wish their family love and strength to surpass this difficult time. I hope Noah recovers soon. ❤️

    • Cee says:

That’s very common here but not everyone does it. Engaged couples might wear silver bands which are then replaced by wedding bands.

    • TheSageM says:

I have also seen people who start wearing their wedding bands when engaged, only on their right hand ring finger. Once married, the rings move to the left hand.

    • Miss M says:

@Cee@TheSageM: It is the same in my country (Brazil). But I have never seen someone from another country following the traditions on their spouses. So, I thought it was really sweet that he did.

  12. Jayna says:

I can’t imagine getting that terrible news. I hope for a full remission for the little fella after treatment.

  13. OSTONE says:

I love Michael Buble and I am so sad to hear about his little son. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

  14. ria says:

The best wishes for the little one and the family, too.

  15. Cee says:

The speculation about this reached a high last week when Luisana suddenly left the country with her sons (she was filming in Argentina) – unfortunately the worst was confirmed. She’s very well loved in Argentina, and by extension so are her sons and even Bublé, so the repercussions in the press have been massive.

Cancer sucks, especially for a kid. I hope and wish Noah makes a full recovery.

  16. Dani says:

Devastating. No kid, let alone human, should have to suffer through cancer. My dad had what doctors considered the ‘best cancer’ to have (if you really have to have it) and it was still a nightmare from the 9 hour surgery to over a year recovery.

  17. OhDear says:

Aw man, wishing the best for their son.

  18. Rocio says:

I went to high school with her, same school different grades. She was a sweetheart back then even though she was famous and all. Devastating news.

  19. NOLA says:

Such heartbreaking news. I hope and pray that poor little Noah is back on his feet, healthy and happy, soon.

  20. Lena says:

Sad news. At least his parents can afford to take as much time off as they need/want as well as afford the best treatment options and whatever makes both the poor child as well their lives a bit easier during those difficult times.

  21. TyrantDestroyed says:

As I said on Friday, these are very sad news. I really like Michael as an artist and I follow him on Facebook so it was always sweet to see him devoted as a family man. Luisana and him seems to have form a lovely and normal family despite the fame of both (I know she is a renown actress in Argentina).
I wish the best for the little boy, his youth and access to good treatments as well as the love from his family will help him to overcome this hideous illness.

    • Cee says:

She’s also pretty big in latin america and some european countries, including Israel.

They both seem such good people. Hopefully they will get through this.

  22. Saks says:

This is heartbreaking. I hope Noah beats cancer completely and goes on to have a happy normal life.

  23. Nikki says:

I will keep them in my prayers. I am so sick of cancer…

  24. pinetree13 says:

Can’t help but tear up from just the title of the article. 🙁

  25. Abbess Tansy says:

My best wishes for the family, I hope that sweet little boy fully recovers.

  26. VegasSchmagus says:

The song on his new album, “God Only Knows” (the Brian Wilson cover) was pretty prophetic. He said in an interview that he recorded that song in a darkened studio, with just a photo of his boys in front of him.

This poor little guy has been through a lot – he was badly burned as an infant. Michael talks about how his boys are EVERYTHING to him. Prayers for the Bubles……..

  27. KasySwee says:

He has all my sympathy. I work in special education and have seen so many families dealing with a child with a terminal or life threatening illness. All you can do is give them support, respect and compassion. It’s a horrible burden made worse by various factors in our society.

  28. jerkface says:

This dude has done a lot of ladies wrong and has been a terrifically terrible human being but his children have not. I wish that little boy LIFE and I hope he lives a long one.

  29. Otaku Fairy says:

That’s so sad and scary. I hope things go well for this little boy and his family too. Three years old. That’s the youngest cancer patient I’ve ever heard of (before that, it was a six-year-old).

  30. BTownGirl says:

Get well soon little one, we’re pulling for you.

  31. Libra girl says:

God be with them all during this time.

  32. SM says:

This is beyond terrible. An illness of the child is the worst thing one can experience in life. Upsetting
