Pink announces that she’s pregnant with her second child

Surprise!

A photo posted by P!NK (@pink) on

Singer Pink posted a photo to Instagram Saturday with just the simple message “Surprise!”. As you can see it features her in a flowing white dress and layered wrap which she’s gathered around her pregnant stomach. Her daughter Willow, six, is dressed in a matching little dress and is hugging her mom’s stomach. It’s sweet. Pink is giving me Charlize Theron vibes here, I think it’s the hair. She’s also wearing a top hat (which would be a cool accessory except I’m currently reading Stephen King’s Dr. Sleep and the villain is a woman in a top hat). Pink hasn’t announced how far along she is, but I’m guessing she’s five or six months at least.

This will be Pink’s second child with her husband of ten years, Carey Hart. The two separated in 2008 but reunited in 2010 and have been together with some breaks. Back in May Pink told Ellen that they were due for another separation and that “We take breaks. We’ve had two breaks. The first one was about a year. And the second one was 11 months.” A lot of couples are like that and at least Pink is honest about it. Hopefully things are working out well for them now.

People Magazine has some quotes from Pink, 37, about being a mom and how it’s healing to watch a baby grow up. I don’t remember these quotes, she made them last year, but they really resonated with me. She said “I have lived a lot of life in a very short time, and you get hardened a little bit — you get jaded, you build up walls. And when you see this little kid, and you get to watch them through infancy to toddler to little person, it’s amazing.

You see how you were. When you watch this bundle full of love and light that’s untarnished and untainted by heartache and any of the numerous things that change you, it’s very healing. It’s a miracle.

That was very well put. Congratulations to Pink and Carey on their upcoming arrival!

What a beautiful picture. Congratulations to them.

  2. Swak says:

To me she looks more like 7 or 8 months along unless she’s just posing that way.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

She is (or is nearly) full term.

    • Dani says:

Yeah she’s def farther along that 5-6. I’m almost 5 and have a similar height/weight like Pink and have a much smaller bump (and I carry HUUUUUUUUUUUGE not kidding – 56 lbs the first time).

    • fruitloops says:

Yup. Most definitely not 5 or 6 months, imagine her belly in 3 to 4 months if it was.

What a lovely quote, and so very true =) Congratulations to them all. She seems one of the more down to earth celebs out there.

That is the truth. I just wish people would let children be children and not try to launch them into adulthood by sexualizing or exploiting them.

I don’t know how to feel about having breaks during your relationship ? I have always thought that having breaks means you are not sure of the person, which means that you should not commit to them for life.

    • Hollz says:

I think it’s more about knowing who you are. Maybe they (both fiercely independent people) just need some time alone to reconnect to themselves as individuals, rather than as a couple.

      • paddingtonjr says:

ITA, I think it is that, while they are committed to each other and love each other, they need to be alone for long periods of time. I don’t necessarily understand it, but it seems to work for them and their family. I love how honest and grounded both Pink and Carey seem to be. Many congratulations to them and Willow!

    • QueenB says:

i also dont understand breaks. for me if there is something wrong you can still be in a committed relationships and think about it or not see each other maybe for some time. so it does not really make sense to have a break from my pov. it sounds more like people needing to get out of a relationship and then its very likely not the right one.

    • Kori says:

I would agree for myself but it seems to work for them–they’ve been together a long time if you include pre-marriage. I have a soft spot for them–I love how they didn’t just throw in the towel but worked through their issues and reconciled. (There wasn’t abuse or an issue like that) If going through periods where they give each other space keeps them together, good for them. And congrats to them–and she does look farther along than 5-6 months! She was good at keeping it under wraps because she’s really big now.

I saw Charlize immediately, too! Almost commented the same thing on her Instagram (but realized the moment should be all hers). I think it’s the eyes and hair and general profile angle… crazy, because she doesn’t look like her at all in the other pictures!

  7. Becki says:

I totally thought it was Charlize first time I saw the pic too!! But Congrats to Pink & Carey!!! She is such a cool lady, I love her so much 🙂

    Lovely family portrait.

  9. Beckysuz says:

    Aww..I love her. Congrats!

  10. Cupcake says:

I always thought Pink would have another baby. Congrats! She seems like a wonderful mother.

  11. Jess says:

Awe! Congrats, I was wondering if they were going to have another because she seems to love being a mom. I know she had trouble getting pregnant before so I hope this one wasn’t too hard for them. I just think she’s the greatest, a wonderful role model for young girls who don’t fit into the “girly” mold, which of course there’s nothing wrong with being girly either, just saying😉 She’s one celebrity I’d love to hang with!

  12. I Choose Me says:

Aw, congratulations. I love her and wish her a successful delivery and healthy baby.

Have pink still giving up/retired from singing?

  14. Amanda DG says:

I’m so happy for her, but I admit to being selfish because that means there won’t be a new album for awhile. I miss her music!! 🙂

  15. AmunetMaat says:

Yeah Pink! I was just listening to her songs “Run” and “Good Ole Days” this weekend. Guess it’s because I’m expecting. I sorta grew up with Pink, bought the first album in HS. It seems like I’ve seen her journey play out. I don’t get taking breaks in a serious relationship, but whatevs work for them.

  16. Lindy says:

She’s one of my all-time favorites. I love her music and I love the fact that she really does seem to keep it real (as much as that’s possible in celebrity-world). I’m happy for her and her husband, and I honestly think society would benefit from a broader, more nuanced understanding of long-term, committed relationships. They seem to make each other happy and to be good supports for each other, as well as good parents. If the way they manage to do that is slightly unconventional, I don’t think anyone else should worry about it.
