Well, well. Just so you know, I’m not one of those people hoping for a Tiddles reconciliation. Tom Hiddleston may or may not have dumped Taylor Swift in September – I believe he did, in fact, do the dumping – but I feel strongly that there will be no Tiddles 2.0. HER fans might want it, but his fans? The fans that didn’t abandon him following the super-embarrassing Tiddlebanging World Tour don’t want a Tiddles reunion. I think Tom knows it would be a disaster of epic proportions. Which is perhaps why he’s trying to let people know that he enjoys the company of other women. To me, this young woman does not look like Taylor Swift whatsoever, no matter what the Daily Mail believes. She also looks… young. Not jailbait, but early 20s. Taylor turns 27 years old in December. So it begins… Taylor has already reached an age when her exes move on with someone younger. I’ll say something nice to Taylor: if Tom is dating someone in her early 20s, he’s the one who looks foolish. Almost as foolish as he looked dating you. (Whoops, that wasn’t so nice after all.)
Meanwhile, I keep forgetting that we’re going to get another major Hiddlesblitz in the new year. Kong: Skull Island comes out on March 10, and everyone is really hoping that this is hit. Which means the Dancing, Prancing Tommy Hiddles is going to be out in full force on the promotional trail. I’m just spitballing, but does anyone else think that Taylor will be releasing her album around the same time? LOL. Also: my guess is that he’ll even be given a prime presenting slot at the Oscars. And you know how Taylor Swift loves the Vanity Fair Oscar party. So… some gossip to look forward to. The studio released two more teasers ahead of the second trailer:

Even if they are “together” which seems unlikely, you don’t know how old she is. And btw, I married my late ex-husband when he was 35 and I was 21. It wasn’t a good move, but age had nothing to do with that and there was nothing “gross” about it, thank you. And he’s not some raddled old rock star getting his jollies with a groupie. Maybe dial down the judgement a notch.

It might not be gross on your part, and in your situation. If your husband had a habit of dating only young women before you – yes I would call him gross.
A man who consistently dates women who are less stable in their careers, have less life experience, less financial stability, and are in general more malleable – gross. It’s a preference for control and dominance which I find distinctly unappealing. Notice the reference to Phillipe, who dates ONLY under 28.

It’s gross when men ALWAYS or ONLY date women/girls far younger and less established/secure than they are. Or when they have a reputation for only dating models (younger) like DiCaprio. But Tom’s not either of these. He’s only had two “younger” girlfriends (8 yrs). One he worked with intensely, EO, and the other was a miscalculation.
Fans get defensive cause there’s been a lot of distorted perceptions of him that new posters, TS fans and haters have run away with. He got a lot of crap this summer. A lot of it he deserved, but a good portion of it was collateral damage from the TayTay-drama shit storm.
Yes, the nature of celeb gossip culture is to talk shit and laugh at them. But you have to admit it’s a double edged blade that we’re dancing on, and some of it does do real (unfair) damage. I see the appeal, but I don’t see the appeal from an acting point. All the focus will be on Kong (who is too big, IMO). They could have gotten any actor in those roles. And even with his English accent, he doesn’t do the voice over. That plum job goes to Sam Jackson. I don’t think he should have taken this movie. But who knows? Maybe it was the best offer? Or maybe the only offer.

Woman is Louise O’Shea, a UNICEF worker. Cropped out of most of the Daily Mail pictures is a man who also works for UNICEF. This was a work meeting, not a date. The British tabs did not learn their lesson when they tried to pair him up with the blonde historian who was just leaving a restaurant at the same time.

I don’t buy that he had no idea who she was or didn’t look into her when they met. He’s a pr and image concious guy who is very hungry in his career. As far as his intelligence goes hes obviously not dumb, but I don’t think he’s quite the Einstein some of his fangirls think. If you listen to what he says he talks in cliches, he uses a lot of nice words but he’s not really saying anything enlightening it’s usually just a lot of pleasant niceties. Knowing his Shakespeare or the classics well honestly that’s what you’d expect from a guy whose parents paid for eton, Cambridge not to mention Rada. I mean every actor who had British classical training can quote Shakespeare.Tom is just the only one who wears it on his sleeve as part of his brand. I honestly think he’s just a well conditioned guy in the sense that most posh boys with a decent head on their shoulders and the sort of resources and education available he has had. I agree with you 100% on both counts. The relationship was publicity agreement and mostly fueled by general attraction, romantic gesturing and affection, but not sex imo.

I started wondering today if perhaps that planned intro was because of all the meltdown that happened over Jane Arthy. The first signs that TommyAnnE may not have matured as much as we thought came just before TIFF in 2015. Making sure that his rumored lover was spotted with him not once, but twice during a year in which they kept their conjugal visits a secret and timed just weeks before his Oscar buzzed film was to premier was a pretty obvious attention grab to me. He showed he IS willing to use his personal life to get column inches so he’s really not different than most actors.
He confirmed this with the very obvious famewhoring with Ms Forever 13. So he has lost any ground for convincing me he’s “all about the work” since he can’t walk the talk like others have. He’ll be fine and he’ll continue to work and be Tumblr’s boyfriend because many ladies do love him unconditionally. But for me, I can’t lust after someone I think is a shallow, insecure bonehead. Hopefully, I can learn to laugh at him and others like him when I get out of my November funk. He is still very mockworthy when he opens his mouth, so perhaps next Spring he can give me good giggles again. We’ll all be needing it here once there’s a power transfer in January.

I had a few thoughts about Hiddleston’s intelligence in response to other comments.. I haven’t been a fangirl since dear Robert Vaughn [just passed away] was the MAN FROM UNCLE. I have been an English professor for 36 years. Fans or even casual observers of Tom’s interviews aren’t comparing him to other graduates of world class universities; they’re comparing him to other actors. So many of our American actors can’t string together 2 sentences. After listening to Shia La Boef and Miles Teller, Hiddleston sounds pretty darned impressive.
I think if the worst thing I say about him is he’s a thirsty, insecure fellow willing to trade in a bit of dignity for some international publicity, it just means he’s a typical actor, not some special unique snowflake. 🙂

Sure, it’s useful clickbait for them when they can drag up the Hiddleswift connection all over again, but I don’t believe for a second that paps are trailing around after him trying to get some pics and some sort of lame ‘scoop’. It always seems like most celebrities go through a trial-and-error phase before they finally figure out just how much of their lives they are going to sacrifice at the altar of fame – some go too far, come to their senses and retreat, while some go too far and just keep going. Apparently Tom wants to have the kind of career that demands a higher level of spectacle.

I don’t see DF pics as necessarily his PR team’s work. It’s possible sure, but it’s very probable that they (paps) hang out places where they know certain celebs tend to show up or have contacts that call them when said celebs turn up. When he’s in UK, Tom is known for hanging out a lot at his favorite cafes. He actually tends to do a lot of business and writing/corresponding at cafes. He is very much a bachelor; He doesn’t seem to have a domestic lifestyle at all. His kitchen from the UNICEF video was bare as a bone. He’s commonly seen eating out, many times alone, or getting take out. When he speaks of food he always is naming his favorite dish from his favorite restaurants. I don’t think he has much domestic lifestyle skills or talents like cooking, entertaining or decor/design. That’s why he always goes out, it’s probably not fun being in a bare house alone with nothing good to eat.
@Bonzo – See, I think his relationship with EO was real but just not at publication status which is why all the deniability, cloak and dager. I think he really liked her and the pics taken by fan/pleb on street with his arms around her was real or at least them easing into the public sphere as a possible ‘thing’. I agree with you that the big date night was deliberate leaked outing of them as an unconfirmed/deniable “couple”.
What he came away with after being with EO is that any relationship he truly cares about is extremely vulnerable to failure because of his first commitment to his career. I think this is why he agreed to a superficial arrangement with TS. It was not only a career move, but it had no real, emotional expectations or costs; no loss, no pending disappointment or heartbreak. Just fun in the sun and a steady companion for a few months –or so he thought.

I don’t think Hiddleston is a huge celebrity really. Certainly not in the way that say, Cumberbatch is now, even in the UK. The fact that he will hang out at cafes does give paps an opportunity to snap him I guess and it may be the case that it’s six of one, half a dozen of the other. He’d go there anyway, but if some free publicity ensues as a result, it’s sort of useful for him I think.
I do believe there is some kind of ‘you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours’ deal with the Daily Fail. That’s my opinion. I can’t prove it of course, but various stories that have been run over the years lead me to think so. I’ll try not to keep banging that gong on here though as I sense there are a few people that for whatever reason don’t agree.
I still quite like Hiddleston anyway despite the shenanigans. And now he’s dressing up in a gorilla suit to promote the Kong flick. lol. He is a good sport, isn’t he?

No, Hiddleston is not a huge celebrity like Cumby, true. But he is a big deal on the internet with social media, chat sites and online tabloids. Just look at how high TH rated on CB for 2013-15 before Tiddlesbang ’16. The online pubs clearly know this and take full advantage of it. Yes, I’m sure his team has dropped DF leads; Absolutely. But the DF has it’s own interests to run daily Hiddles headlines. Like I said, he gets lots of clicks on multiple outlets and sources.
Once he got with TS it all took on a life of it’s own. The rags will post anything connected to Taylor for the clicks. If his team approached DF or other outlets like Gossip Cop, it was more for damage control and setting the record straight since so many tabs just started making things up for the clicks.
I did a bit of a double take at the snake banging until I realised what you meant. Phew…

Did she? Haven’t heard about that. I just find it curious that she has access to all these professional-looking photos. Getting set photos as well sounds like someone who has an insider source to me. I’m not a picture researcher (or a stalker!) so I wouldn’t have a clue how to get hold of so many HQ images. I freely confess my ignorance of how these things work but is she really ‘just a fan’?

I’ve just done a bit of googling – ‘cos I’m nosey – and it would appear she’s not on tumblr any more (at least not as ‘Torrilla’). Tumblr canned her a year ago by the looks of it. Possibly as a result of the picture credit issues you mentioned perhaps? If she’s not ‘just a fan’ that would be a bit of a cock up I’d say.
I’d still really like to know who she is and how and why she’s posted all that she apparently has – I’m just inquisitive like that and Hiddleston’s less-than-awesome management bemuses me 😀
@Uh-huh, we affectionately called Torrilla the patron saint of the Hiddleston fandom when she was on Tumblr. From what I gather, she really is just a super-fan that is a) very good at searching for things b) has access to photo agency websites with the means to pay for photos and c) also gets tips from other fans. She may have other sources as well, but I’m not sure they are “official”. She’s run afoul of copyright restrictions often enough that I really don’t think her work is sanctioned by anyone.

I find it extraordinary that anyone would go to such lengths, spending so much time and, presumably, money just to fuel the Hiddlestoner fandom on tumblr.
Then again, maybe I’m not that surprised. There are extremists in any fan group and I think there are people that thrive on the idea of being a fandom supremo who other fans look up and defer to – maybe that’s what was happening with Torrilla.
It’s a loss for Hiddleston though to no longer have such comprehensive publicity on tumblr, especially if it was free.
It’s funny, I’ve never gotten the sense (we’ve chatted a few times over the years) that ego was part of her motivation, although I’m sure she enjoys her legendary reputation for being a source of all things Hiddles. It may be as simple as getting a rush from the treasure-hunt aspect of it and wanting to then share what she finds – and also wanting to be recognized for how much time, skill and effort is actually involved in what she does. Because, and you’re right about this, it is a damn lot of work. Can you tell I’m a bit of a Torrilla fan/defender/apologist? I adore her for everything she’s shown us the last few years.
Daisy is a sweet Chinese fan with the wherewithal to pay for agency pics, other than that she reposts stuff from Instagrams, Twitter, et cetera–people tend to send her links when they discover something new.
Evidently she didn’t realize there was a copyright issue (meaning she didn’t know they were pap shots) when she reblogged the TNM set pictures, and there are some people jealous of her success that were reporting her constantly. They were trying to get her pushed off of Tumblr, and sadly they succeeded –by, IIRC, actually finding out the photographer and linking him to her site. Yes, she shouldn’t have reposted without ensuring there wasn’t an issue, but those weren’t official shots, either. That guy made money off of long-lens “image thievery” his own self, and if he had just contacted her for a fee she (unlike most Tumblrites) probably would have paid it.
This is her hobby, and she has the time and spare funds to devote to it. But I ‘ve never gotten the sense of her as either a stalker or smugly thinking she’s a better fan than others.
@Totally, the anti-Torrilla sentiment is/was baffling, especially given how sweet and helpful she was to anyone who bothered to ask. I think you’re right, jealousy played a large part in the hate she would get. In hypocritical fashion, her biggest critics were also usually the first to snag the photos she’d found and gush over them or pass them off as their own discoveries.

Bonzo, if you’re here, the last few episodes of The Crown really focused on the dynamic between Elizabeth and Margaret and the latter’s failed relationship with Peter Townsend due to political complications. It was extremely well done, so keep watching. There was a great episode featuring the Queen Mother as well. Hang in there!
And for what it’s worth, there was a nice arc about Elizabeth’s deteriorating relationship with Phillip and his alleged cheating that showed just how much the monarchy interfered with her personal life. It’s fascinating, actually.

MI6, good to hear there’s more on the women and their relationships. It’s been sorely needed in a series about her rule as Queen! I thought “The Crown” was a bit misleading as it didn’t seem to focus on her as much as the title implied. I still enjoy it and the FUG girls having such boners for the British Monarchy have supplied all sorts of interesting side bits in their recaps.
If I had to guess, I’d say Tom is campaigning for TNM. The nominations for the GG’s nods coming out in less than a month and there’s a better chance of winning one of those than he had for an Emmy.

Oh Grace, I’m sad and surprised and feeling motivated to make my voice heard in the democracy that Trump seems intent to undermine. It’s been a sh!t week and I finally had to take a FB break as I know too many people that are happy the Dems aren’t in control. I worry about our public lands being sold for resource development, I worry about our marginalized groups of all skin colors, religious and sexual orientation having their right to life and liberty being stomped on. I worry about our foreign policy changes with someone as vindictive at DT at the top.
My hope is that his mess of an administration will implode upon itself and that he’ll have so many conflicts of interest and acts of imprudence that he’ll be forced to resign or be impeached by his own party. That may be the best scenario of all the bad ones.
@Bonzo, is there a FB Pantsuit Nation chapter emerging in your area? The Boston one is becoming very active and is planning strategy meetings and marches. People have been posting issues both on the national and the local chapters and getting suggestions and offers of help on how to bring broader awareness and ways to lobby. I’m finding it a very helpful way to channel some of the frustration and anger I’m feeling to help others.

Ell, good point I actually agree but not in the way. I thought so going back to the Wimbledon “date” which I still think was a PR stunt, and said so about the whole pap incident with Olsen last year (go look at the threads at the time). He now dates with his career in mind; with an American actress that could raise his profile, and we all know what happened with the last one.
I was following up on Lila’s comment about one of his ex’s Susannah Fielding. I think most of us would agree she was a much more appropriate gf than Swift. He was also involved with Gwen Christie.
He’s not dating as he used to, if he’s actually properly dating at all. I’m sure a lot of his fans hope he gets over this whole public aspect of his private life.

Swift was a fake PR stunt pure and simple (IMO).
I’m now inclined to think that the Olsen thing might have been too in retrospect; its timing looked like a pretty obvious ploy to promote I Saw The Light.
(Interesting too that Olsen later denied it – presumably once it was obvious that the strategy hadn’t given the film the boost they were hoping for.)
He may try again with someone else further down the line, either to promote himself or to try and generate buzz for something. It’ll be a reason why I’ll tune out. My interest in him as a fan and an audience member is starting to be seriously tested by this kind of crap. I can ignore it up to a point, but it looks like a pattern is emerging.

I have only trite overused expressions that apply to me only and I’m an older entitled white lady but a HRC diehard in a Red state. Shocked, horrified, frozen, furious, incredulous, so saddened, frightened, shell shocked. Much like after 9/11 but honestly not as hopeful. I feel like our country has been hijacked and conned. So, so pissed at the press and so called Christians for putting a fascist in the White house. But I’ll say this, the protests, ground swell of action especially by those who have never been involved in any social protests in the past makes me feel slightly less heart sick. But honestly, both my sister and I have described last week as traumatic as if a family member passed unexpectedly. Sorry!!!! You didn’t ask for my soul to pour out but thank you for asking and caring! I know many in other affected countries are also heartsick.

DM has a video of Tom at airport. He is rolling his large suitcase and another guy is rolling a cart with more luggage on it. So he’s bringing lots of luggage to LA. Planning on staying awhile? Maybe suitcases are filled with clothes he got to keep from the Interview photo shoot? Rumor has it Chris also flew to LA so maybe it’s a Thor reshoot or something.

Thank you spidey. So glad to see everybody is alright – as in still sane and dealing. Stirring up some sh*t as usual. Missed you guys, but was glad there were no new Hiddles threads during the crazy pre-election. Now that we’re living in the Twilight Zone in the last months of 2016, one of the worst years of my life in many respects (lost a beautiful soul in August), I’m so relieved to have CB for some fun chat and laughs. This has been a year of great, great losses personally, culturally and of course politically.
On a brighter note, I am inspired by all the many protest across the country and the prospect of *real progressive reform of the Democratic party under the leadership of Bernie Sanders and Elisabeth Warren. It has been too long in coming – Now is the time! The orange cheeto is a false populace prophet, and it’s becoming more and more evident as he appoints his buddies to implement their white-nationalist-corporate agenda.

I know, omg! At first I was wtf !
But it turned out to be a cute, little skit. Considering he wasn’t listed as a guest, it was just to introduce the SI trailer. It was a good way to quickly get his name connected with the movie on prime US tv and give people something to talk about. It was so short, but it accomplished what it set out to. Will make good clips for the entertainment show plugs for SI.
And in his instagram photo he looks to have his Coriolanus body!
The trailer looked gooood! It was a longer, and Tom’s character was more prominent. There were a couple of spots that looked like typical HW action plot, but overall the movie is filmed beautifully and has a good sound track. Looks enthralling.
I’m really hoping this movie gets good reviews. Tom’s latest movies, with the exception of his Thor films, have not been well received by the public. Though the review of Tom in all those movies has always been great, and some of those movies as well, but just didn’t grab the attention of the general public. So it’s obvious he’s a great actor. I hope this ones a big hit.
And the gorilla costume was a cute way to present the trailer. Tom always seems willing to play the fool for a laugh. I think he messed his hair on purpose. Man he can get some big hair with so little effort. He might have some great fun on SNL. I would love to see Tom host it – with some skit that has him dancing. I miss dancing Tom. Oh, did you notice he seemed in a much better mood in the pics entering the Kimmel show. Waving to fans.
