Lindsay Lohan’s estranged father, ex-con and proselytizing jail convert Michael Lohan, made a recent statement that suggests that his daughter was involved in drugs and alcohol in her mid teens. He is quoted as saying that the fallen star was under investigation by authorities at the age of 15 due to her association with drug dealers:

Michael Lohan, who is estranged from his daughter, reveals the Mean Girls star was followed by investigators on leaving home in New York for Hollywood because of her criminal connections. He says, “They said Lindsay was surrounded by criminal activity and was being exposed to alcohol and drugs.” Michael claims the investigation was covered up to protect his daughter’s burgeoning career.

This isn’t really surprising news, but it is kind of telling that the guy would blab about his daughter when she’s in trouble. With supportive parents like this, you can sort of see how Lohan ended up a lying drug addict who regularly puts other peoples’ lives at risk and refuses to take responsibility for her actions.

It’s unclear in what context Michael Lohan gave this quote, although it could have been in his custody battle for Lohan’s three younger siblings, Michael Jr., 19, Aliana, 13, and Dakota, 10.

Lohan’s dad also said that his ex Dina let her boyfriend raise their children, and accused him of being a drunk.

Michael has instructed his lawyers to write to his ex-wife complaining she allowed “substitute father” Jim McMillan to bring up the actress and her siblings Michael Jr., 19, Aliana, 13, and Dakota, 10, reports the New York Post.

Michael says, “Jim McMillan should not be in the presence of my children — especially when I’m being kept from them. He is no example, nor is he a substitute father.”

His lawyer John DiMascio says, “During my client’s telephone calls with the children, he has overheard Mr. McMillan in the background making inappropriate comments. On a more disturbing note, it appears that Mr. McMillan was inebriated.”

This is the guy who was jailed for nearly two years on multiple DUI and assault charges, so it’s not like he should be pointing fingers.

Lindsay is now in her third rehab this year, a facility in Utah called Cirque Lodge that’s just as posh as the last two rehab facilities that she failed to take seriously.

Update: TMZ reports that In Touch has details of Lohan being physically abused by her father at the age of 16, as told by a bodyguard who witnessed the incident:

Almeida recounts a particularly nasty scene between Lindsay and dad Michael to In Touch. When Lindsay was 16, Michael freaked out while driving, “slammed on the brakes and dragged her out of the car, pushed her up against the hood, screamed at her and called her a slut. This was on the Long Island Expressway! I got in the middle of it and pulled him off.”

And the bodyguard says that Dina Lohan let daughter Lindsay hang out with boys and drink at a young age. At the age of 15 she was allowed to spend the night with then-boyfriend Aaron Carter alone in a hotel room and that “They knew Lindsay was sleeping in Aaron’s room. But they seemed happy she had chosen somebody who could benefit her singing career.”
