Brooke Mueller hospitalized after bystander witnessed her beating her kids

Brooke Mueller, Charlie Sheen’s ex and the mother of his now seven-year-old twin boys, Bob and Max, has been in rehab over 20 times. I’m not even exaggerating that’s the number. Despite the horrific things we’ve heard about her living conditions and general state of mind, she still retains custody of the boys, most likely because she got sober in 2014 and it seemingly stuck. In fact after 2014 California DCFS no longer subjected her to random drug testing despite her history of addiction.

Brooke is now in Utah for some reason and she was seen wandering around a bar Tuesday night in Salt Lake city without her shoes and with her two kids and a nanny in tow. She was arguing with the nanny and cops were called due to her bizarre behavior, but she left before she could be questioned. Brooke was later witnessed hitting the boys at a car wash at about 6am in the morning Wednesday and someone again thankfully called police to report it. Witnesses tell TMZ the boys were in their pajamas during that incident, that Brooke was “swinging wildly” at them and that she seemed very high when approached. After all that, Brooke’s mom also called police to ask them to consider the boy’s welfare. Brooke has since been hospitalized for evaluation. I think E! has the best overview of this:

The Utah Department of Public Safety released the following statement:
“On the morning of November 16, dispatchers with the Utah Department of Public Safety received a welfare check call from a woman claiming to be the mother of Brooke Mueller. Troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol responded to the welfare check call and located Mueller, her two children and a nanny on Interstate 15 near Nephi, Utah. The children are safe and will be released to family. Mueller was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The State Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the incident. We do not have any more information to release at this time.”

As E! News reported earlier, police were searching for the three after a disturbance occurred at a bar in Salt Lake City.

TMZ claimed that the actress showed up to the bar with the twins and appeared to be “disheveled” and barefoot.

Eyewitnesses told the site that a nanny was also present with them and that the two women got into an altercation before the local authorities were called. Mueller, however, left the scene with her children and the nanny before officials arrived.

Later this morning police confirmed that they were all located and that a standard welfare check took place. No criminal charges were filed.

But now it seems as though Mueller has been placed in medical professionals’ hands after reports of her allegedly striking her children have surfaced.
Sheen told TMZ earlier today, “I’m just trying to get my kids home safe. I have no other details that relate to the ongoing event.”

[From E! News]

When Charlie Sheen sounds like the reasonable parent you know there’s a problem. The boys won’t stay with him, that seems highly unlikely. At least Brooke’s mom is in the picture and I know Brooke lived with her brother, who was caring for the boys, for some time. Denise Richards tried to care for them in 2013 but had to give them up when they became violent toward her daughters and pets. Brooke blocked all of Denise’s attempts at the time to get Bob and Max professional help. I hope that there is another family member who can remedy that, and that Bob and Max are somewhere safe.

I found Brooke’s Instagram. She looks really high/jacked up on something in most of the photos but she hasn’t updated it for over a year. The event photos here are also from 2015.

Great Halloween weekend!!

Wow, I had hope Brooke was in a better place.

Brooke is a piece of crap and any sympathy I had dried up ages ago. It’s one thing to wander around barefoot at a bar WITH YOUR CHILDREN because you’re high and not aware what yu’re doing…it’s another thing to completely block ANY treatment or help from them even when you’re sober. She hasn’t let them be evaluated because she KNOWS some of their issues are a result of things she did while pregnant. She is so selfish she’d rather let them suffer than be looked bad upon for things she did. She is a horrible, rotten to the core, selfish evil mother.

Those poor boys. My heart breaks for them. Taken to a bar, and also kept up to 6:00 am. No normalcy, no constant loving presences. UGH. Utah has failed them but I’m not surprised considering the rampant abuse in the LDS cult that Utah continues to let flourish.

      • Bazoo says:

Didn’t she have those boys via a surrogate?

      • K2 says:

Yeah, that was my feeling. I sympathise with the addiction. I think she is a witch for blocking any and all therapy for those boys when they were in the care of a loving and competent adult, because she didn’t want the placement to stick in case she lost their eventual care and therefore her child support checks. That’s vile. There was a window to help them when they were still very small and she deliberately prevented it being done.

The single sane thing Sheen ever did was have kids with Denise Richards. At least their girls have a chance, with a parent who lives up to the title.

      • Warm says:

There are no words for how messed up she is. She would be jail but she has money. She has very wealthy parents where are they? They could save those kids at least.

  2. Pri says:

Hate to say it, her privilege is the reason her kids have not been taken away…

    • jugil1 says:

I’m inclined to agree with you.

    • Hazel says:

      Agreed. Privilege and money.

    • KittenFarts says:

110%!!! Her family is very wealthy & have fought to maintain custody in her favor. Clearly they have more money than brains b/c she is beyond unfit!

      • WeAreAllMadeOfStars says:

Are they? I think her ex-stepfather was rich, but her mom and him are divorced by now.

    • Goldie says:

Yeah. I think DCFS assumes that her children will be fine, because she has the money for full-time nannies, and the children have access to the best therapists etc. However, Brooke is still the one calling the shots. They need to be placed with a responsible caretaker, with Brooke having only monitored visitation.

      • WeAreAllMadeOfStars says:

Honestly though, we all assume that losing custody of one’s children is an easy and quick affair and that the system takes kids away swiftly after one or two offenses, but that simply isn’t the case. I don’t know enough about this particular case to say whether she’s been given more chances due to her money or fame, but I can tell you from secondhand experience that having kids temporarily or permanently taken from the parents is a very, very lengthy process in which the parents are given endless chances to prove their fitness. The parents’ rights always trump everything.

    • Chaine says:

Yup. If she was not wealthy and white, her parental rights would have been terminated long ago.

      • Bread and Circuses says:

The weird thing is she’s only wealthy because the children exist. She was desperate to keep custody of them, because it guaranteed her access to Charlie Sheen’s child support cheques, which are substantial.

I’m sure she has snorted and smoked most of her own money away.

      • Stephanie says:

Not in my experience, unfortunately. I work in a poor area. I have had many students where DCFS was involved. I also had a friend that was middle class and white who lost her kids. Oh, a cousin, too. (Both drug addicts, both with children being physically hurt by boyfriends)And a student who was white as well who was removed from his mom (same). I also had an African-American student who was taken from their family (sexual abuse and physical abuse, drug addicted) And two African-American students whom were not. At least not at the time I had them. DCFS was involved with one for sexual abuse, and another one for the parent drinking while driving with the child in the car. Another family was horrific, it was a white woman who had five foster children who were African American. The woman wouldn’t feed the children. And then she yanked them out of school when DCFS was called. Many years later the kids were removed. Anyway my point is that for the most part child services people are way overworked and their caseloads are too big. It’s not a white and black thing, it is a grossly underfunded program. Unfortunately many many children regardless of race are forgotten and overlooked. My heart hurts just typing that, but it’s the truth.

    • Tifygodess24 says:

But that not always true either , it’s easy to blame privilege but there are plenty, and I mean plenty, of low income individuals who still have custody of their children even though they do drugs, neglect them and/or beat the hell out of them. I have seen it first hand sadly. I have had to make numerous reports and call CPS on parents at the school I used to work at. (It was required by law) For example one time there was this sweet boy in my first grade class who came into school with a hand mark welt across his face. Clear as day. Horrifying. CPS came, interviewed myself and then the boy, who told them sometimes I get hit but I deserve it, I’m a bad boy (broke my heart). They also contacted the mother told there was a complaint of abuse against her and interviewed her. (I was not there for this call) She blamed the welt on him falling on the playground and made the promise to take the boy to the doctor within THREE DAMN DAYS and give them a report. She knew by then the welt would be gone for the most part. And that boy was released right back to her custody that day. Mind you this mother already had an active investigation on her and had gone through past ones as well. So no it’s not just the wealthy or whites. I wish this was the only horror story I had but sadly it isn’t. They don’t just grab kids and take them out of homes. That’s not their goals even when it should be.

    • J-Who says:

Let me just point out that millions of people that don’t have “privilege” and are shitty parents still have custody because the child welfare system is all kinds of messed up. Most are going to believe the kids are always best served when staying with mom, even when mom is a crack-head. It happens all the time. When family refuse to take the boys, the father can’t and won’t, the kids will end up staying with mom. For Brooke, It really has very little to do with privilege. In Brooke’s case, it’s the money and the famous name she carries.

  3. HeidiM says:

    Those poor children.

  4. jugil1 says:

I feel so sorry for those boys. Truly. I hope some responsible family member will step in & care for the boys. Brooke is a mess & shouldn’t have access to the kids….sadly enough…same goes for Charlie.

    • Sabrine says:

It doesn’t look like anyone really wants the boys, so they gave them back to Brooke because she wanted to cement her lucrative monthly child support payments. You don’t see anyone coming forward wanting to take them. Maybe there is a chance they could go to her brother.

  5. Aims says:

If those two boys turn into functioning adults it will be a miracle . She has shouldn’t have her boys. She has a very long and on going issues with mental health and addiction . She can’t take care of herself let alone two kids. They need to go to their grandparents house. They’ve had enough term oil to last two lifetimes.

    • Pandy says:

Can’t believe she’s not being more closely monitored either. Money talks! Those kids …. didn’t win the genetic lottery.

    • Lady D says:

And said grandparents will just give her all the access she wants, unless you’re talking Micheal Sheen and his wife who are old. I also think it would be exhausting for grandparents to raise a pair of 7-year-olds, nevermind boys that can’t be left alone with other children, pets or probably each other. Plus constant trips to the school, therapist, doctor, etc. I feel so sorry for those boys.

  6. OriginallyBlue says:

I feel terrible for this kids. How many chances is enough? She doesn’t need to have custody of those kids and her family in the past have sounded like enablers.

  7. Maleficent says:

This woman is an addict. Since she was returned custody of her children, she hasn’t had to submit to regular drug testing. That is not acceptable. I see pictures of her high as a kite–and who is to hold her accountable? Their father? Charlie Sheen is not fully there either! I hope these children have other role models to help save them.

  8. CleaK says:

Super sad and baffling story. I’m very curious about this nanny. She was just sticking around while Brooke went 40 miles from Park City (where she supposedly lives) to Salt Lake, then all over Salt Lake and then another 90 miles south to Nephi. Was she unable to get away with the kids, to get them somewhere safe and stable or was she a little off too?

    • Tia says:

If she’d tried to leave without Brooke’s permission, I have no doubt she’d have been fired on the spot. She might be as bad as Brooke or she might know she’s the only stable, sober adult in those kids’ lives and not be willing to risk being forbidden to ever see them again.

      • Borgqueen says:

Listen Brooke has custody so if the Nanny took the kids, I am sure Brooke would have reported the kids kidnapped. I wouldnt and case in point, the Utah police left the kids in Brooke custody.

    • Sarah B says:

I’m wondering if nanny is a loose term. Like, a “caregiver” that’s employed by Brooke is probably one of her friends, i.e. enabler, junky.

  9. susiecue says:

By “hospitalized” you mean “jailed”, right? Awful.

  10. Lorelai says:

    Jeeesus…those poor children.

  11. Sam says:

What I find most upsetting is that there are folks out there who can take care of the boys but the system is failing them. I know Denise Richards has tried and she has also tried to get them help. They’re young so they’re not lost causes.

I think they should either stay with Brooke’s mom or brother.

Otherwise I can’t believe I’m saying this but custody should be given to the father and maybe one of his family members can care for them. Maybe even allow Denise to give it another go.

    • Chaine says:

Didn’t Denise give them back because one of them was acting out and harming her other children?

      • Tia says:

She was willing to keep them if they got proper treatment but Brooke still had parental rights and wouldn’t let them see a therapist let alone be checked for possible physical issues (because there is no way Brooke was sober through her pregnancy).

Denise had to either deal with them without them having any help or treatment (and cope with their assaults on her other children) or give them back. She chose her daughters and I can’t blame her. It must have been a heartbreaking choice to have to make.

      • BTownGirl says:

What Tia said and the letter that she wrote to the judge about their behavior is just….there are no words. I’m not going to link to it because they’re just kids who haven’t been able to get the help they need, but it’s out there if you feel like getting an acute case of The Sads.

  12. Allie B. says:

I go back to the times when Charlie and Brooke paraded around on entertainment shows, filming in the upcoming nursery, and talking about how fantastic they are as people and as a couple. People can be so pathological it is not even funny. I can’t believe anyone bought into that. Charlie Sheen is still welcomed in the media even though he’s accused of knowingly exposing people to a virus. This world is beyond me.

  13. Manjit says:

She makes me really sad and really, really angry at the same time. She obviously has addiction issues and she should not have custody of those two little boys, but who can they go to? It comes to something when their best option would probably be state financed fostering, but how else will they get the help they need?

  14. Yeahright says:

Denise had to stop caring for they because the were violent towards her girls and pets?!? Jfc! They sound like psychopaths in the making. Someone needs to get them out of that home and in some serious therapy!

  15. Lbliss says:

Sure let’s give known addicts full custody of their kids just bc she said she was sober and just bc she’s their mother. I knew this was a bad idea 2 years ago when she wouldn’t have to submit to random drug testing. I told ya so child services. Now what are you going to do about the mental issues and unnecessary trauma those kids have from your decision?

  16. QQ says:

those poor kids with these Nasty *ss disgraces for parents… what will become of them as adults.. i really shudder to think

  17. Harryg says:

I feel so bad for the boys.

  18. nicegirl says:

God Bless and watch over those children

  19. laura says:

I live in SLC the hotel she spent the night in is a old mom and pop place not 4 star and she has 2 address in Park City but I don’t think she owns any property in PC if you want to stay clean Park City is not the place Park City loves to party I wonder if the money for the boys is set up in a trust to limit her access to it

  20. Dlo says:

Oh how I wish I had the means to take care of these little ones! My heart hurts this morning

  21. Babs says:

Those two pos of parents are just NEVER gonna be clean. All while DFCS takes 8 weeks to investigate ‘verbal abuse’. Such a tragic joke.

  22. someone says:

DCFS spent 8 weeks trying to figure out if Brad Pitt yelled at and or hit Maddox and there is no open case for Brooke doing this? This was exactly my complaint at the time of Brad’s incident. Priorities…..

It’s sad that Charlie finally got the boys he wanted (supposedly going so far as IVF with gender selection) and he has done nothing to help raise them to be healthy and functioning young men.

    • pwal says:

Maybe sexism is the reason why Brooke continues to get second chances. Mothers, while having to shoulder much of the responsibilities, can have others within their ilk, skating completely.

And while I know that grandparents don’t have legal rights regarding grandkids, but where the hell is Martin Sheen?

    • YepIsaidit says:

Did you read the article? “she still retains custody of the boys, most likely because she got sober in 2014 and it seemingly stuck. In fact after 2014 California DCFS no longer subjected her to random drug testing despite her history of addiction.”

So, Dcfs did investigate her and then “cleared” her as well.

    • Tobbs says:

Imagine if a man had hit those boys at a gas station at 6 in the morning. Society needs to recognize that violence in the home can come from the mother as well.

  23. paddyjr says:

My heart goes out to these boys; they need serious help. I have so much respect for Denise Richards for stepping in a few years ago and it is sad she wasn’t able to keep custody. I think she could have been a good influence and provided a stable home with their half-sisters.

  24. Chloeee says:

Not trying to armchair diagnose but those boys sound like they need to be in therapy now and not around Brooke or Charlie for a long long time. Violence towards Denise’s kids and animals is a huge red flag as far as those boys go. That’s a huge indicator of severe abuse in many forms and is generally a foothold in the development of children who can Grow up to develop sociopathic tendencies.

  25. Tanakasan says:

After the way the boys acted with Denise when they were way younger, their father, and the way Brook has been treating them, they are DOOMED. Trust me – those boys are going to be complete MESSES very soon. Poor kids.

  26. jerkface says:

    Celebs. They’re just like us!

  27. Rina says:

Brooke straggling into a bar with the boys and then beating them were reported but there may be many more incidents of which we are unaware. šŸ™ My heart aches for the children.

Please help those little boys, God!

  28. Lea says:

What breaks my heart is that one witness said one of the kids begged them not to call the cops because they would take his mom away. Because as crazy as she is, they still love her.
I feel sorry for Bob and Max. They have been robbed of their childhood even before their birth. Charlie stated that they suffer from fetal alcohol syndrom. They have been witnessing horrible stuff since they were little kids.
My son is the same age so it breaks my heart to imagine those poor little boys.

  29. Spiderpig says:

    “6am in the morning”?

    Cringe.

  30. Cerys says:

Poor kids. Money is no substitute for a stable and loving home environment. The boys need to be taken away from her permanently and raised by a responsible adult if they are to have any chance of a normal life. However that is unlikely to happen as it would be seen as an infringement of Brooke’s parental rights. Charlie should also be kept as far away from them as possible.

  31. JRenee says:

Those kids have been failed numerous times.
No way she shouldn’t be tested for substance abuse.
Those kids are a check for her.
They should have been placed with someone who could properly care for them.

  32. Jag says:

Why were those kids not placed in foster care a long time ago? I hate it when CPS doesn’t do their job!
