Heidi Klum didn’t vote for Trump: ‘It has nothing to do with him saying I’m not a 10’

heidiklum
Heidi Klum is covering Miami-centric magazine, Ocean Drive, to promote her new lingerie line. For some reason Heidi is still getting a lot of press for her projects, although she usually doesn’t say much that’s quotable. This interview is an exception in that she talks about her younger boyfriend, Vito Schnabel, 30, she discusses her love of going nude (which seems to come up in every one of her interviews) and she discusses the US election. Heidi has dual German and US citizenship, meaning she can vote in federal elections. She was the subject of one of Donald Trump’s random rants before our national nightmare where the petty abusive troll is about to become president. In an interview with the NY Times this August, Trump said, seemingly apropos of nothing “Heidi Klum. Sadly, she’s no longer a 10.” Heidi’s response was to record a cute little video for Twitter in which she was wearing underwear and a crop top with the number 9.99 on it. To Ocean Drive, Heidi said that of course she voted but that she never would have voted for Trump even if he didn’t insult her. She also claimed that the biggest criticism she gets is that she’s not skinny enough. Really?

So you’re classic, yet you’re a fan of going topless.
I grew up going to nude beaches with my parents, so I’m a nudist. I have no problems with nudity at all. I’m very free. When I go to the beach, it’s in a very remote place where there are not a lot of people, and I like to go topless.

Is that why you’re so open about sex and public displays of affection?
I’m not doing PDA on the beach with tons of people. I go on a boat or I take a hike somewhere. If you would zoom out in the places where I’m with my boyfriend, there’s nobody there. Unfortunately, paparazzi always follow us, in a helicopter or they hang behind a bush or a boat and they come up with scuba gear. But to the outside world, it looks like we’re frolicking on the beach having a show in front of everyone.

Speaking of your boyfriend and paparazzi, the media loves calling you a cougar. [Klum is 43 and Schnabel is 30.]

It’s not about age. We have an amazing connection, we have fun together, and we love each other. It doesn’t matter what people say. As long as you know when you close your door in your own home, you have an amazing time together. That’s really all that matters.

You were the topic of one of Donald Trump’s verbal assaults last year when he said, “Heidi Klum is no longer a 10.” Did you take time to watch the debates and vote?
Of course! It’s hard for me to comment on politics; I don’t know a lot. I would never have voted for him, and it has nothing to do with him saying I’m not a 10. We’re just not on the same wavelength.

What’s the biggest criticism you’ve received?
That I’m too curvy. Too feminine. I got that a lot. That I should be skinnier. And that I’m not edgy enough and a little too happy half of the time. Everyone was always telling me maybe I should skip a meal or I should go on these [diet] pills. I just always stuck to my guns and thought either they want me the way I am or this is not the right job for me.

[From Ocean Drive]

Heidi said that she watches what she eats, which is quite candid – for her. Usually she’s fibbing about her exercise and diet and claiming that being a mom is “a workout in itself.” She likes to seem relatable without actually owning up to the amount of work it takes to maintain her figure. And I’m not buying her claims that she’s told, at this point in her career, that she’s too curvy. The way she phrases that in the past tense makes it sound like criticism she got in the 90s as a supermodel, which I would believe. She may have been “curvy” for that part of her career but that’s certainly no longer the case now. Oh and she’s full of crap about how the paparazzi follow her on vacation. Somehow they always know exactly where she’ll be when she’s at a faraway beach in Mexico where no paparazzi are hanging out, just waiting for celebrities.

Coming from a 2, it’s hard to know if his comment was an insult or a compliment.

No one woman should feel that she has to justify her looks, let alone to a man who apparently doesn’t own a mirror.

  2. paolanqar says:

I didn’t know she could vote in the US. Is she an american citizen?

    • Miss M says:

Yes, she is. I think the first time she vote was for Obama in 2008 right after she got her citizenship.

    • Lena says:

How did she become an American citizen? Well, I don’t want to google it either but is there any other way then to live there (wich she has for decades , fulfill all the requirements and pas the exam? Why wouldn’t she be a citizen?

  3. detritus says:

That green dress is actually really nice. I’m surprised.

    • LoveIsBlynd says:

I think the green dress is ll fitting for her shape- but she admits to liking “off” styles, it’ her thing. Let’s face it she’s an iconic beauty and anyone who resists the orange criminal is a Sister.

  4. Fran says:

She must have given up get German citizenship – Germany doesn’t allow dual citizenship.

    • Pant says:

Maybe they didn’t use to …but they do now- I have both

      • Fran says:

If you are German born to German parents, and move to the US, you have renounce your German citizenship to become an american citizen. If you have one or two American parents and are born in Germany, you can have both.

Heidi, like me, is a German born to German parents. She must have given up her German citizenship to be a US citizen.

    • Ann says:

They do! I have both citizenships, too.

    • Merritt says:

Apparently if you get permission from Germany before applying to citizenship elsewhere, you can be a dual citizen.

    • littlemissnaughty says:

No, you can apply for retention of your German citizenship before you are naturalized.

“It’s hard for me to comment on politics; I don’t know a lot. ”

I think Heidi Klum is my new favorite celebrity for this statement.

    • Esmom says:

I know, that jumped out at me, too. She was always my least favorite part of Project Runway but this admission makes me like her a little more.

  6. Krakken says:

It seems like Trump hits out at ppl who have hurt his man feelings(aka: ego) in some way. Like was the case with Selma Hayek, Megan Kelly etc. This makes me wonder about the back story of his “no longer a 10..” statements.
    Spill that tea Heidi Klum

I’m thinking it had to do with Trump being a racist bigoted mysoginist and she’s the mother of daughters and mixed race children. If I had to guess…

    • LoveIsBlynd says:

He’s just having fun being crass and appealing to the lowest instincts in our population. He doesn’t seem that deep or intellectual, but sadly he’s hired vampires to suck oil and spirit out of our land and people. I hope the progressive movement gets its head out it’s arse and stops splitting with the jill stein this or the gary johnson that. We need to come together and be a force for the mid-term elections and 2020. Come on already. Power to the Peaceful!!

  9. Jezza says:

First off, if I was Heidi, not voting for him wouldn’t be because I’m no longer a 10, but because of the fact that he is a disgusting, misogynistic, pigheaded cheeto. When you say crap like “just look at her. She would not be my first choice, believe me” as your defense against claims of sexual assault, you are a grade “A” POS and 2020 can’t come soon enough.

  10. elle says:

Heidi on her worst day runs circles around his turtle-faced daughter and lizard alien wife.

  11. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

I don’t think of Heidi as curvy. Hmm. She appears very tall, thin &.long-limbed.

  12. Solan says:

Wait. Her parents took her to nude beaches? Who takes a young girl to a nude beach?? That’s disturbing.

Weren’t they worried about older men looking at a young girl?
