Yesterday was World AIDS Day. Prince Harry is involved with many HIV/AIDS-related charities and foundations, and Harry became the first royal to ever publicly take an HIV test earlier this year. Since World AIDS Day coincided with Harry’s two-week Caribbean tour, and even better than that, it coincided with his stop in Barbados, Harry invited Rihanna to join him in publicly taking another HIV test in front of the assembled royal/international media. Rihanna and Harry had met the day before, and he apparently convinced her (with his ginger charms) to join him in getting tested.

Here are Harry and Rihanna taking about getting tested after they got tested. Rihanna is flirting with him a little bit, and Harry is trying so hard to stay on message. He wanted to flirt back though. But they are very, very cute together. I want Harry to marry the Queen of Barbados so much. They could do so much good together! And they would have so much fun!

Meanwhile, there’s some interesting news about Harry’s actual girlfriend, Meghan Markle. Royal hagiographer Katie Nicholl, who has spent the last six years as the Duchess of Cambridge’s de facto mouthpiece, went to Entertainment Tonight with some dish about Harry and Meghan. Nicholl tells ET that Meghan will not spend Christmas at Sandringham with Harry, but that’s not because the Queen is a big meanie. Harry would simply know that he couldn’t invite his girlfriend to Sandringham, period, the end. Nicholl says:
“My sources tell me that is not the case. [Harry] knows the rules of the royal family and he knows that until they get engaged, Meghan will not have a place around that Christmas dinner table. If you think about all those years that Prince William was courting Kate Middleton, she had to wait 10 years until she was invited to Sandringham. Harry and Meghan have only been dating for a few months. So, no, the queen has not stolen Christmas, and, no, Meghan Markle won’t be at the Christmas table at Sandringham this year.”
“My sources do tell me that they [Harry & Meghan] have plans to meet up as soon as Prince Harry has finished his tour, which will be this weekend. It’s possible they might meet in London. There’s a chance they might meet in L.A. That said, Prince Harry does have an engagement in London next week, so if I was putting money on it, I’d say if they’re going to be meeting up, it’s more likely to be over here than in the States.”
Hm, so Nicholl thinks Meghan will fly to London this weekend, maybe? Meghan has wrapped on Suits, and she’s reportedly chilling out at home in LA as we speak. So… maybe. Although the gossip before Harry’s tour was that he would fly to LA soon to meet Meghan’s family. That was before he met Rihanna though. Maybe he’ll just stay in Barbados and try to win Rihanna’s heart.

I’m always perplexed when people play the morality card regarding Charles, divorce, remarriage, and being head of the Church of England. Do they not remember why Henry VIII started the Church?
40 percent of marriages in the UK end in divorce. If the CoE rejects all divorced worshippers, the pews and coffers will be empty soon.
Compared to previous princes and kings, Charles doesn’t seem too bad, if I’m honest.
Yeah, different times and all that, but Charles is nonetheless less frightening to me than his predecessors when it comes to dealing with infidelity.
And the rules of the royal family are confusing to me when I look at how the Queen deals with Prince Andrew (yeah, I know he’s her favourite son blah blah blah, but still…)
Nota: i’d add the not often told histories George 1’s divorce and George 4’s attempts to divorce which were much more scandalous than anything Charles has ever done.

You can get immediate results for the HIV test now? What? That’s amazing! Didnt it used to be a month or something ridiculous? All my HIV tests have been mandated for pregnant women; as I have been in one monogamous relationship for my entire history I’ve never had one otherwise. In pregnancy they just draw your blood with whatever other tests they’re taking.
HIV tests are amazing and simple now. I used to work as a case manager at a halfway house and we would have people come in to administer HIV tests. It took no more than 10 minutes to do the test and get the results. Science is incredible!

There’s 2 tests: a really quick 5-minute one and the other will give you results within 24 hours. The thing though, is that those tests aren’t necessarily precise if you’ve been infected really recently. The 5 minute one will be accurate if the infection occurred more than 3 months ago otherwise you might have a false negative. The 24 hours test is a bit more sensitive for a recent infection. Usually, if someone has had a risky encounter; they’ll be tested ASAP and, if negative, a second test will be recommended in 90 days; if the risk is really high, prophylaxis will be given for 90 days until the 2nd test is clear too.
All in all, it takes time not so much because the test is long to run but because it detects an immune response raised against HIV and specific immune responses takes a while to mount. It’s great that Harry and others are trying to raise awareness about HIV testing, it should be part of the routine tests quite honestly (sadly, one might be monogamous, but you can’t guarantee the other party will). That being said, I’m scared for 24 hours every time I’m getting tested, even if it’s just a routine thing and there’s no real reason to worry

The Daily Mail ran an article on Meghan today… she’s back in Canada. Photo taken of her grocery shopping up a storm, so she’s clearly not heading to London this weekend. I would put money on H passing through Toronto on his way back to London tomorrow. Given that they are now in the same time zone, makes things a LOT easier.
Only thing which could thwart this is that there’s so much press sniffing around, documenting every move he makes especially Ms Camilla T and Richard Palmer in Guyana with him. Don’t think he would risk it, but then again, the whole world knows she’s his gf, so if he heads to her home, its not a big deal. The only issue would be his security., but he has protection officers with him.
