Christie Brinkley’s daughter, Sailor: ‘Every body is different, beautiful & worthy’

Christie Brinkley’s youngest daughter, Sailor, 18, predictably works as a model but is also in her freshman year at Parson’s School of Design in New York City. She’s from Christie’s last and fourth marriage, to architect Peter Cook, which ended in a high profile divorce in 2008. Sailor may be an Instamodel and the beneficiary of nepotism, but she seems to have a decent head on her shoulders. Earlier this week she instagtammed a photo of the Victoria’s Secret fashion models with a caption encouraging women watching the fashion show not to compare themselves. She didn’t put anyone down and appreciated the VS ladies while saying that we should love ourselves too, it was nice.

These girls are such beautiful boss hard working strong determined women…. But to all the young girls watching tonight… don’t forget that if your body doesn’t look like theirs it is totally OK. No body type is superior to another. Every body is different and each and every one of those body’s [sic] are beautiful and strong and important and worthy of great things. Don’t freak out if your stomach doesn’t look like theirs. Don’t hate yourself for your thighs. Embrace your body type, work hard, set goals, be healthy and constantly remind yourself that you are good enough! VS is a celebration of women and awesome beauty. And comparison to anyone is never healthy! Don’t turn this fashion show into something negative. ❤️ Congrats to the VS angels on tonights show! I’ve seen how dedicated these girls are and you all really do kick ass on and off the runway. 💪🏽💕 so much respect for you guys and everyone at VS!

Yes this is somewhat bland and overdone but I also appreciate the message, which is very similar to something Orange is The New Black Star Danielle Brooks said last week – love yourself, love your body and keep working on you, for you. So many body positive messages focus on “you’re fine, you’re perfect” but what about “you do you and continue kicking butt”? I like the message of not comparing ourselves to these women – this is their full time job! – but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate their beauty and our own, and know that we each have our own struggles and triumphs which don’t always show in our physical selves. That said, I hope Sailor finishes college and doesn’t become a model, but her Instagram is filled with bikini pics like a lot of young women her age. No judgment, I’m just saying.

    Yawn

    • tegteg says:

Double Yawn. She is only saying this to justify her Nepotism Model career. She has zero model credentials and would be working at Pacsun if her mom wasn’t Brinkley.

  2. lightpurple says:

If she is at Parsons, perhaps the fabulous Tim Gunn is having an influence on her attitude towards bodies.

  3. Alix says:

Wouldn’t have a chance in hell at modeling if not for her mom’s name.

  4. Barrett says:

I saw Tim Gunn on street the other day, his suit was so loud, it was a fierce NYC moment. He waits for no one!

Christy Brinkley has too many bikini/ bathing suit shots at the age of 62! This poor girl doesn’t have the greatest role model.

She is normal and above average attractive enough but does not have symmetrical face to be a model unless nepotism prevails. I hope she rocks Parsons and forges a creative different sort of path all her own!

    • Anastasia says:

Who is to say that 62 year old women can only have x number of bathing suit photos?

Women of any age can have a ton of bathing suit photos if they want. Ageism helps no one.

  5. N says:

She is always so tanned and bronzed up.
I wonder what her real skin color looks like.

Keep telling yourselves, and us, this lie ladies, while America continues to reward sexists like Trump and beautiful women keep on having surgeries to improve what nature gave them, including probably these two.

I don’t know about Sailor but Christie has had a boatload of work done. She scares me. And wasn’t her daughter with Billy Joel struggling with serious body image issues? I have a hard time believing that Christie has encouraged acceptance anything less than the Hollywood ideal among her children. But kudos to Sailor for trying to see beyond that ideal, or at least paying lip service to doing so. It’s a start, I guess.

      • Macscore says:

        ^^^This!^^^ Thanks, Esmom – I agree completely.

      • chaine says:

Yes, the other daughter had some really obvious plastic surgeries and had some kind of suicide attempt at one time. I haven’t heard anything about her lately.

      • WTW says:

The other is a clone of Billy Joel. She is lovely, but when your mom is Christie Brinkley, people probably expected her to look more like Sailor does. Instead she has the “ethnic” looks of Joel that are often widely disparaged by those who view blue-eyed blondes at the ideal.

      • Belle Epoch says:

“The other one” was very unfortunate looking during her growing-up years. Then she got a lot of plastic surgery and came through looking gorgeous. But the comparisons must have really hurt when she was a teen. “Your MOM is Christie Brinkley? Shut up!”

  7. Runcmc says:

I really like her look. She’s like a breezy Cali girl on the beach. I could see her modeling for Hurley or Volcom or something like that.

  8. giulia says:

Words from models whose esteem is based on reinforcing conformity tosses you b you as some sort of consolation prize lol better to just fulfill her role as a body image and say nothing. This kind of crap is annoying. I want to pee on her mom’s rocks now!

  9. KatnissforKaepernick says:

She’s 18! Of course she’s going to have bikini pics on her instagram page.

  10. OrigialTessa says:

Maybe I’m just cynical today, but it sounds like she’s auditioning for next years show.

  11. JustJen says:

Holy crap, that last pic reminded me of Amanda Peterson.

  12. beegirl says:

    random thought…
in the 2nd and 3rd pics, i did a weird double take. sailor eerily resembles amanda peterson from “can’t buy me love”. i remember devouring amanda’s YM magazine issue!
    💗 ap forever-RIP

  13. Tig says:

Find it so unusual that both of her daughter’s look so much like their respective fathers- I’ve never seen pics of her sons, so maybe they got more of the Brinkley DNA.
I have read over the years that Alexa really struggled with her body image. To be fair, Christie for all we know praised/supported her daughters from birth on. Sadly, some daughters can’t hear/believe it.

    • Bettyrose says:

I’ve always wondered what that must be like for Alexa. She very much takes after her dad (who I’m a huge fan of) but having a super model mom when you yourself don’t fit that conventional look must be difficult.

  14. Dani says:

Christie loved marriage so much she did it FOUR times?? Good grief.

  15. eggyweggs says:

I so want to be not cynical about her IG spiel, but…

  16. jerkface says:

I’d prefer to read Everybody vs Every body.
People are really thinking to much about their bodies instead of everybody. Thats how we snapchatted and twittered ourselves into this mess our country is in right now.
How about this? Everybody of legal age is sexy. You’re all sexy. Now go do something for the greater good. Stop thinking about butts and boobs so much. lol

  17. hey-ya says:

    …christis gurning in these photos…lol….

  18. Boxy Lady says:

Sailor was a really chubby kid and her sister Alexa was a skinny kid but is now a buxom grown woman. I think Sailor is sincere about not discriminating against different body types.

a other one who want to be a model ….
