How craptastic is Charlie Hunnam’s ‘King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’?

This is how Charlie Hunnam dresses when he’s just going shopping. To be fair, he went shopping at the Prada boutique in Beverly Hills last Friday, so it’s not that crazy that he seems to have gone Full Dandy, complete with a tie and a vest. Then again, he paired the tie and vest with jeans and sneakers, so maybe not so fancy. He does look nice overall.

So, what else is going on with Charlie? He’s still with his girlfriend, Morgana. There were photos of them out and about in LA this weekend. There were lots of photos of Charlie overall this weekend, in a variety of outfits, doing various things. Either the paparazzi were just trailing him for days, or Charlie felt like he had to promote something. But that’s just it – he has nothing to promote. The Lost City of Z doesn’t come out until next year (April) and the release of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword just got pushed back for the FOURTH time.

Warner Bros. has shuffled release dates on four of its 2017 titles with Charlie Hunnam’s “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” moved back two months to May 12. Warner Bros. has pushed back “King Arthur” several times. It had originally dated the movie, directed by Guy Ritchie, for a July 22, 2016, opening but decided to move it into the following Presidents Day weekend on Feb. 17, 2017, then moved it back to March 24.

“King Arthur” will open against Fox’s “Mother/Daughter” comedy, starring Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer.

[From Variety]

When the trailer for King Arthur came out over the summer, I thought it looked like a giant mess. It was clear that Guy Ritchie is a HUGE Game of Thrones fan, so much so that he basically took the concept of Game of Thrones, added a dash of King Arthur lore, plus tusked monsters instead of dragons, and boom, that’s the movie. I also said over the summer that it looked like a nightmarish film to market – do you go for the sci-fi crowd? The history-film buffs? People who like monster movies? Who knows? Warner Bros just gave themselves a few more months to figure it out. My guess is that the film is just going to be a really expensive tax write-off.

Hunnam is beautiful when he’s kind of dirty. He loses it when he gets all dapper though.
I’m not sure how Jax and Jax’s butt will handle King Arthur though, high fantasy is really tough to pull off.

I dont care. I need to support my future husband…

I’ll buy the popcorn, sister wife. Looking forward to this and to Lost City of Z which has bonus points for including RPatz. Arthur will sell to the audiences that likes Guy Ritchie movies (e.g. Sherlock Holmes). Ritchie has a specific style.

I saw this trailer at the theater and thought it looked good.

  4. Jenns says:

It’s a Game of Thrones/Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit mixed tape starring Charlie Hunnam, Eric Bana and Roose Bolten.

    Bottom line: I’m in.

His girlfriend’s name is actually Morgana? And he’s King Arthur in a movie? HAHAHAHAHA that’s bizarre.

    • Morgan says:

I noticed that too. It’s kinda perfect really! I hope the walk the red carpet together at some point when they are promoting king Arthur.

I would watch him read the dictionary. In Latin.

All the people saying they are going to see this even though it looks like trash need never complain about the crap, unoriginal, regurgitating of the same old story or plot what plot, cgi fest movies HW keeps investing in.

This looks like it should be called Lock, Stock and Excalibur because it basically comes off like very other movie Ritchie’s made. Everything looks blah and I will not be watching it.

  11. Mia4S says:

It’s most likely awful. It’s in the math: That many delays plus opening it one week after the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel and one week before Alien in the summer movie season = we don’t care, we know it’s a write off, but maybe we can trick a few people into seeing this. The writing is on the wall for this one.

  12. hey-ya says:

…enormously craptastic borefest like so many of the directors movies….based on the trailer that is…

  13. Carrie says:

I don’t care if the movie will be a steaming pile of poo. Charlie Hunnam looks HOT is this movie and I will see it.

  14. canadiangirlgirl says:

He is so hot. SOOOO hot! 😍😍

  15. Mrs.Krabapple says:

Are all directors these days color blind? Why don’t they make movies in COLOR anymore!? (Actually, I know the answer for many movies — the overuse of bad CGI. But that doesn’t explain all movies)

  16. nic says:

    Nah. That looks fun.

  17. belle says:

Want to see game of thrones fan? Watch trailer to The great Wall that’s a mess

  18. Sage says:

Charlie and Jude in a movie together??!!

  19. Shura says:

While i’m not expecting the likes of Excalibur, I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised. What Ritchie might do with the King Arthur legend is an intriguing thought.

  20. Jenna says:

I think the trailer looks interesting and anything w Guy Ritchie has potential. I’m not so jazzed by Charlie Hunnam (even though he seemed good in the trailer). He lost it when he made that lame video last year and I can’t get the silly reality TV level vibe out of my head. I think of it every time I see something w him! Did he do it for attention? Isn’t being a famous actor enough attention? Who knows. I just think it tarnished him and now I can’t take him seriously. Chris Pratt would have been good in this role.
