Here are some fashion photos from last night’s Critics Choice Awards. CB and I were so confused yesterday because the Critics Choice usually happen in January, in the heat of awards season, but for some reason the association decided to host the awards in the dead of December this year. As such, I feel like the fashion was sort of struggling. You’ll see evidence of that throughout our fashion coverage! And let’s start with an obvious one – this is Jessica Biel in Elie Saab. Biel was mostly there as the “date of” Justin Timberlake, who was there supporting his work in the animated film Trolls, plus he was a presenter. I actually think I know where Biel was going with this look – she thought the Elie Saab dress was sort of understated with a boho vibe, so Biel thought she would do some boho, Joni Mitchell-circa-1974 hair. And it does not work. Like, at all. The dress is ugly and the hair is atrocious. Biel is a pretty woman, but she fundamentally does not understand her styling strengths.
I would have shrugged off Kerry Washington’s Elie Saab look as not-the-best-but-not-the-worst, but I saw her on-camera on the pre-show and she seemed so bubbly and vivacious, it makes me like this whole look so much more. She’s adorable.
Lily Collins went full goth-girl in her Elie Saab dress, which looks like grandma’s doily.
Tatiana Maslany in Boss. I feel like this is what most women should have done – chosen a simple dress that they liked, done an easy updo, slap on some bright lipstick and call it a day. While I don’t think this dress is the best, she looks very pretty.
Greta Gerwig in Gucci. I like Greta, I think she’s a really talented actress, but I’m passing on this dress. She deserves better.

I like Lily’s dress but for a get together. Otherwise nothing screams I WANT. Jessica should close her mouth, the mid-open lips looks is atrocious, especially combined with all her hair hiding the structure of her face. Not gonna talk about the hideous dress. Kerri is loving baby doll dress and it doesn’t appeal to me. Just blah, not to mention her hair.
Jessica beil…. I just don’t get her. I’ve never found her attractive. And Justin just needs to leave. I’m over these 90s has beens.
Oh wow Jessica is so beautiful but she does look a bit exhausted in those pics. Kate Beckingsale on a different post is also gorgeous. Kerry Washington still has a bit of her pregnancy weight and she is just beautiful.
Her husband should leave her because you don’t find her attractive? Because she’s a 90s hasbeen? What a fantastic reason to leave your spouse and mother of your child.

I think she’s very pretty but I just cannot like her ever since the whole “I can’t get roles because I’m too beautiful” thing. I just want to roll my eyes every time I see her or hear her name.
I actually think Jessica’s look is beautiful and prefer it to the other ones you posted. She looks cool and and pretty.
I am with you. The dress is gorgeous. Her hair could have been a little more textured to seem boho, but it isn’t awful. She should close her mouth. Flies are getting in.
I like it too but the open-mouthed pose is so atrocious. Too bad because it takes away from an interesting look.

I like Jessica’s bangs, and that her hair was left long and wavy. I don’t understand this site’s oft mentioned preference for updos (and same goes for the jewel toned dresses that come up in these style posts) but to each their own!

Me too and I’m usually really not into that goth look.

Jessica’s expression is cracking me up. She looks so-so, but not awful.
Kerry’s so pretty but boy she has awful style. It’s the same with Cristina Hendricks. Fab on her show, fug everywhere else.

These ladies are all over the place. Some look like they are attending a winter gala and others a summer gala. Ugh. Just makes my head spin to compare dresses that are heavy against airy lite dresses.
Is it just me or are dresses in 2016 just really… not good? That short, tulle, star-dress, just no!

I think Lilly’s dress could have worked if the arms weren’t winged, etc. More streamlined. It looks too gothic/Adam’s family at the moment.

I don’t hate Biel’s look here. It gives me Carol Alt’s vibes, even the open mouth pose, so very 80s.
Even the hair doesn’t bother me. I thought more of Charlotte Gainsbourg or Lou Doillon than Joni Mitchell. The fact that i really like the former may cloud my judgment though.
I feel like Jessica’s ombre skin should have been the focus of this. The tan to pale white look is not attractive.

Lily Colins looks amazing, this kind of style is not for everyone but it is clearly for her. Tatiana’s top looks like it is gym clothing inspired which is not good.

I love Kerry Washington but I HATE this look. It’s way too whimsical and young. She should be in something more sophisticated.
