Seems a lot of actor/actresses are turning to TV or creating life style brands.

  2. JEM says:

I’m reading the book that is being adapted for that series. I can’t imagine Julia Roberts in that role. At all.

  3. minx says:

I’ve heard rumors for years about how her marriage is breaking up any second….and yet, nothing.
Anyway, I hope she gets no awards. She seems insufferable.

    • AnnaKist says:

I can’t stand her. They’ve been running her (Lancôme, maybe?) perfume ad down here for weeks, in the lead up to Christmas, and it irritates me no end. That’s when I mute the TV and check the news on my iPad…

    • JFresh says:

I think she’s insufferable too. Something deeply unlikeable about her, in addition to the fact that her performances are all painfully bad. She’s just pretty, that’s all.

      • Twink says:

Just wanted to join you guys and say that I CANNOT stand her. I cannot believe she will play Eleanor, ugh. I’m actually reading this book and I can’t picture her at all.

  4. Tough Cookie says:

Has Julia always had that crazy look in her eyes? She reminds me of Waity Katie.

  5. Bitchy architect says:

    She’s got crazy Botox eyes.

  6. laulau says:

Why does evryone hate on Julia? She seems fairly decent to me… I’m a recent gossip reader tho.
Also, growing up I wanted Julia Roberts hair soooo bad.

    • Scar says:

She’s a talented, beautiful woman on top of her game. She seems like a no-nonsense person who has little patience for fools. That in itself is threatening to lots of people. I know people are going to say it’s the home wrecking thing but those same people will tell you a man can’t be stolen if it was say, Angelina Jolie being talked about.
She’s also friends with Brad Pitt

    • minx says:

For me it started when she presented the Oscar to Denzel Washington the year after she won. She made it all about her, hanging on him afterwards in the press rooms, hogging his spotlight. It was like she was a beauty queen who couldn’t relinquish her crown the next year.
Then awhile back she was presenting an Emmy and again she was hammy and making it all about her.
I’ve also read about she is a horror as a neighbor, flipping off her neighbors when she drives past them and being snobby and demanding. Now that is a rumor I can’t verify. But the other behavior I saw myself.
I do appreciate her campaigning for Hillary and on behalf of good causes, though.

      • SallyTomato says:

That “A Low Vera” shirt of hers wasn’t very helpful either.

      • minx says:

Oh yeah, forgot about that shirt!

      • Christin says:

All of the above and below, plus she rolled onstage in a wheelchair a couple of years ago, apparently just to get attention from Clooney and others. And she was photographed using handicapped parking, for convenience sake.

      • Penelope says:

This. The way she tried to make his Oscar win all about her was disgraceful. I was embarrassed just watching it.

      • MissMarierose says:

All of the above plus her treatment of Jeff Garlin on the set of their movie. All of these things point to her being a bully to anyone she thinks is beneath her.

    • Boxy Lady says:

I was a fan until the “home wrecking thing,” as Scar puts it, because she was such a colossal jerk about it. Danny Moder’s wife at the time, Vera, as well as at least one of Danny’s relatives, publically said that Julia needed to back off to let Danny and Vera work things out for themselves. Then Julia created her “A Low Vera” T shirt because apparently Vera wasn’t relinquishing her husband to Julia quickly enough. There are plenty of people in Hollywood who cheat on their spouses or who help break up a marriage and I am still a fan of theirs. But Julia was blatantly a bully in that situation and I would rather not overlook that.

      • Rose says:

It was how she treated her sister who committed suicide. She was awful to her.

      • minx says:

Rose, I forgot about her sister, too. Ugh.

      • Christin says:

The way she behaved during the Vera days (strutting around in that t-shirt and blazer) led me to believe the many stories about what an entitled jerkette she can be.

      • robyn says:

Negative vibes about her because of how she seemed to brush off the ex and intrude on a marriage. Her half-sister committing suicide would not be Julia’s fault yet Julia seems so stern that I can see how she would have missed important cues from her sister. There is something unfeeling about her but how can one really be the judge of that in another person. She seems to get a lot of breaks in HW yet I would never watch a tv show she was in because of the reasons I’ve stated.

  7. Snazzy says:

Hughes Grant’s PM a Tory! No way!!

  8. Senorita Awesome says:

A diva is a female version of a hustler.

  9. Bobafelty says:

I have an irrational hatred of horse-faced people, so I don’t like her.

  10. khaveman says:

I have read reports of her not being a very nice woman at all. I have liked some of her films, so not totally against her — just hate to think there’s something lurking behind that well-known smile?

  11. Layla says:

I…cannot….STAND her. She’s reportedly a NIGHTMARE to work with or live near and she’s the world’s biggest attention hog. See Denzel incident and when she and Clooney were promoting Money Monster.

She’s also a friggin terrible actress IMO. She basically plays herself in every movie. I never “believe” that she’s her character. Compare her to a Meryl Streep, who inhabits every character she plays. She just seems like a narcissistic empty vessel.
