Presenter Carrie Underwood managed to look different than just about every other woman on the red carpet last night in this pink Iris Serban gown with cut out sides and tightly folded flowers along the neckline. Look at her shoulders this makes her look like a linebacker. (Not her build, just the dress, it has like floral armor.) I will say something nice which I mentioned in the post on Drew Barrymore – Carrie’s default is to wear a lot of makeup, but somehow it works on her.
Connie Britton was also in pink, in a Georges Hobeika gown with one cap sleeve. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that feature on a dress before, it’s like the designers are straining to be unique. It surely exists on another dress, it’s just new to me. I do like the dripping floral sequin pattern on the top. That’s beautiful.
Here’s poor Keri Russell, nominated for best actress in a drama, which went to Claire Foy. I hope that The Americans racks up some awards finally. It seems underappreciated for how good a show it is. Keri was in a sad leopard print J. Mendel gown which was just wrong from start to tiered ruffle finish.

I do too! Really interesting and a nice pink. I LOVE Keri’s dress as well – especially with the choker. I thought she looked great in it!
Carrie is easily the worst dressed of the night. My lord the color and the ruffles, it reminded me of a bad bridesmaid dress, roast beef and macarons.

Keri’s dress would work better on a photo shoot than a red carpet. The last photo where she is moving proves this.
Carrie’s dress is disturbing to me. It either looks like female body parts or a design on a wedding cake. Either way, this dress is far from flattering.
I like Carrie’s dress – it’s different, but still kind of cool. They were smart enough not to overdo the lower half of the dress.
And she does wear makeup well. It’s done heavily, but it’s not completely overpowering her, which happens to a lot of people who go that heavy.
The top is too much, comes across craft projecty. With half as much on top, would have been much better.
That highlighter on the chin was wahhay too much. Just no.
Carrie’s dress looks like a bad rendition of a Georgia O’Keeffee painting come to life.
The highlighter (I think that’s what it is) on her chin is so distracting. She reminds me of Blake Lively with the pageant poses all the time.
i thought you wrote “pregnant poses” and had actually just come to see if anyone else thinks she looks early in a first trimester, so had to laugh at my mistaking pageant…

I assume Carrie likes her look since she pretty much always goes with the heavy makeup, prom queen look, but man… she is consistent. I think’s she’s very pretty and would look good in another style. We may never know!
She always looks so arrogant and full of herself. That’s enough to make me not like her. Every time she opens her mouth and words come out she sounds like she is arrogant and full of herself.
I agree too. I keep expecting her to be this bright, bubbly person (like Drew Barrymore) and I keep getting disappointed. She goes really heavy on the make-up. I would love to see her done one of those ‘no make-up’ pics just to see what’s underneath.
