Us Weekly: Ivanka Trump ‘will be Donald’s closest adviser’ on almost everything

ivanka us weekly

I hate that Us Weekly put Ivanka Trump on their cover this week. On the other hand, Us Weekly is seen as second-tier to People Magazine, and People Mag’s cover this week is a true-crime story, and they literally didn’t even put anything Trump-related on the cover, not even in a sidebar. So it feels like the La Familia de Baby Fists had to go to second-tier media outlets to “soften” Ivanka’s image. Will this stick? Who knows. It struck me after the election that, in a lot of ways, Ivanka is the only one standing between us and the apocalypse. Which is sort of the point of Us Weekly’s cover story too – that Ivanka is The Baby Fists’ Whisperer. That only Ivanka can soothe the short-tempered, baby-fingered, tantrum-prone moron that is our president.

Ivanka Trump is going to be a huge deal in Washington. While a federal anti-nepotism law could prevent the 35-year-old from holding an official White House position after her father, Donald, assumes his role as the 45th president of the United States on January 20, “unofficially,” an Ivanka source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly, “she will be Donald’s closest adviser.”

Over the course of her father’s successful campaign, the husky-voiced Seventeen cover model turned Trump Organization executive evolved into his most trusted consultant. “He looks to Ivanka for advice and consultation on almost everything,” notes a close Ivanka insider.

That relationship will continue, as the real estate tycoon, 70, assumes his role as commander in chief. While brother Donald Jr., 39, and Eric, 33, remain in New York City to run the Trump business empire, Ivanka is moving to the nation’s capital, where her husband, Jared Kushner, 36, will act as one of Donald’s senior advisers. The mom of Arabella, 5, Joseph, 3, and Theodore, 9 months, could take a similar role. She announced January 11 that she’s taking a leave of absence from both the Trump Organization and her eponymous apparel and accessories firm.

“Donald made the best deal for his daughter,” family friend and Avenue magazine columnist R. Couri Hay tells Us. “The boys get the multibillion-dollar company, and Ivanka gets Washington.”

Along with providing advice, the University of Pennyslvania grad could act as her dad’s buffer. Insiders say the polished businesswoman has a knack for calming her father, infamous for his hot temper and middle-of-the-night Twitter rants. “She balances him out,” explains an Ivanka source. “She learned to keep her mouth shut and just let him get it off his chest. She then rationally explains other points of view.”

With stepmother Melania choosing to reside at the family’s NYC triplex penthouse until half brother Barron, 10, finishes the school year, Ivanka will also assume some first-lady responsibilities. “She will be at State functions,” Hay tells Us. “I think Melania is very happy to share those responsibilities with Ivanka.”

[From Us Weekly]

Yeah, I don’t think Melania gives a sh-t. None of this was on Melania’s agenda. Nor was it on Ivanka’s agenda, mind you, but Ivanka has done a better job of at least trying to roll with the punches. Ivanka wanted to stay in New York and develop her own brand and attend parties with celebrities. And now Ivanka is our de facto president, basically. What’s more terrifying: the idea that Emperor Baby Fists only listens to Ivanka or the idea that not even Ivanka can control Emperor Baby Fists?

Well, Ivanka IS the First Lady.

Melania doesn’t want the job, she hates that he won. All she wanted to be was a golddigger/trophy wife.

    • Layla Beans says:

I will be surprised if Melania moves at all. She signed on to be a trophy wife, not a First Lady. Ivanka will be the one at state dinners, not Melania. It’s all SO GROSS.

    • lisa says:

the friendly (surgically enhanced) face of fascism

      • Ama says:

Finally, the modern world realized: the sead of facism can grow on any soil, not just german soil. People don’t learn from history. One step away from “the wave” (book by Morton Rhue). Remember when Angela Merkel (and even Obama at some point, I believe) were compared to Adolf H.? And now THIS moron gets far more then one vote?!!!!

    • Lex says:

To be fair it hasn’t historically always been the wife who performed these duties.
Also, it isn’t something she signed up for, it’s not her fault she isn’t good at it or isn’t interested!

(Lol not on Team Melania, just stating the painfully obvious)

      • Timbuktu says:

Yes, but usually, it’s unmarried presidents who reached out to other women, was it not? Trump IS married, his wife is not sick or disabled…

      • Lex says:

Nah I remember in the First Lady exhibition in DC there were times when it was a daughter or stepdaughter or niece. I think in nearly all examples it was because the wife had died BUT still, whatever.

Why should you be expected to be a public figure just because your husband gets a new job? She didn’t sign up for it. Better she step aside for someone who will actually be engaged. A non-wife First Lady is far better than an absentee First Lady.

  2. gogoboot says:

I refuse to buy any magazine with this family on it. I refuse to normalize the Trumps.

  3. adastraperaspera says:

Just like a good dictatorship, unelected family members step up to take over messaging, management and power. We know this script.

    RESIST!

    • Saras says:

Yes! When your wife gets busted lying about her college degree, plagiarizing M.O. s speech, and lots of evidence comes out of being a glorified escort you definitely hide her and bring out your highly educated daughter to take her place! That and appoint all the Goldman Sachs people (6 so far) and pirates of industry who will benefit by tearing up the branches they are appointed too. Never mind he said he would not do that because that’s what “crooked Hillary” would do…

      • LAK says:

To be fair, Obama hired Goldman Sachs people too. And a bunch of wall street types and people with deeply invested interests in coroprate business. Obama didn’t get much crap for it because we like Obama. We dislike Trump, so are paying attention to his picks which are no different from Obama’s picks except which floor of Goldman Sachs they occupied.

    • Eric says:

We have to keep a sharp eye out for a dynastic institution with Orange Julius Caesar and Ivanka the Terrible.
Look at all the ways ItT will be better in 4-8 years than Emperor Zero:
      1) control of the English language
      2) youth (she’ll be about 40 in 2020).
      3) measured in tone
      4) polished image
      5) business-oriented without bankruptcies
      6) married once=family-oriented
      7) decent orator
      8) government experience (after working with Genghis Con)
There are probably many more traits that would make her an ideal candidate over Chicken l’orange.
That kid could be the first female president of the United States!
      Ffs!

      • Ama says:

Rich kid with a loony father! She must have flaws too… 😉

      • Lightpurple says:

Not really so highly educated. We are taking a step backwards with her father but the six of the last ten presidents have had advanced degrees and Carter was into life-long learning even though he didn’t get an advanced degree. Ivanka just has a bachelor’s degree and most women working at her level have masters degrees.

      • ol cranky says:

we started to see cracks in her facade and how thin skinned she really is during the election. She could not abide by anyone pushing back on her statements, pushing on her father’s lies and nasty statements/behavior or even pointing out where she was wrong. I believe she walked out of a Cosmo interview because she them questioning her and pointing out inaccuracies was a hatchet job

    • Jamie says:

      Yes–Ivanka = Evita.

  4. JenB says:

Has it been said who is going to hold the bible he swears in on? My guess would be Ivanka not Melania.
She succeeds with him for the same reason Kelly Ann Deal with the Devil does. They know just how to treat him with kid gloves. #SAD

  5. OTHER RENEE says:

This is the first trump article I’ve clicked on in a long time. Cuz I just can’t.

  6. Kay says:

Hey us weekly and others: STOP NORMALIZING THIS FAMILY. I don’t care about how ivanka plans to raise her kids while working in the White House because neither she nor her husband should be working in the White House and that should be the dang cover story! Not this horse crap!

    • Tate says:

Yeah, this cover is disgusting. Stop normalizing this!!

      • Bec says:

You all need to grow up! I can’t believe the stuff u say about trump and the names u call him! I put up with Obama for 8 years! I am no better than I was 8 years ago!!! Obama did nothing for me!! Social media has been the ruination of this country! Everyone says things about think well of yourself but u degrade others. This 51% is tired of taking care of the 49% who don’t want to work! All they want to do is shhot their mouths off ! I have worked long and hard for the things I have not relied on others to take care of me! The very small MINORITy of Hollywood liberals needs to shut up! If it weren’t for ppl like me buying tickets to see these big mouths. They wud not be rich! Let let use their money to support the lazy ppl!!! So give it a rest!!!

      • Zapp Brannigan says:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! here you go Bec !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, thought you might need some spares for the next four years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • ZAN says:

        @Zapp Brannigan
        hahahaha! thanks for that

      • MsGoblin says:

Bec, are you really supporting a person who mocked a disabled person, spouted misogyny, suggested that Hillary be assassinated, made outlandish racist remarks, vowed to “drain the swamp” and then appointed the swamp monsters to cabinet positions, encouraged Russia to hack into servers, advocates for war crimes and values women only for their attractiveness?

Don’t kid yourself. This is not normal or acceptable behavior.

      • Kitten says:

        LOL Zapp.

I started typing up a long response to Bec then just deleted it. I’m so done arguing with the misinformed.

      • doofus says:

        aw, take a breath boo-boo.

        and then…

DEAL WITH IT as it’s only going to happen more often in the next few years.

        xxoo

      • Lightpurple says:

@Bec, what, exactly, was Obama supposed to do for you? You say you’re tired of taking care of others yet you whine that Obama didn’t take care of you? Okay, I’m a blue state resident and I’m fed up with seeing my paycheck federal withholdings going to support red states. Alaska? Get a job! You too Utah and Wyoming!

      • Nancy says:

I love your comment MsGoblin. Post of the day. People do need to be reminded because every news cycle, the headline changes. I was going to say something snarky about the person’s comment, like her outrageous spelling, grammar and disarray of a thought process, but that would make me deplorable.

      • Tate says:

@Bec No one is shutting up about Twitler and his family anytime soon. You better simmer down or you will give yourself a heart attack.

@lightpurple blue stater here too. Stop leeching off of us, Red States!!

      • Malificent says:

You may not agree with Obama’s politics, but his behavior and temperament were in keeping with the dignity of the office. Many past presidents have behaved badly, both Democratic and Republican, but none has shown the blatant, public disrespect for members of their constituency that Trump shows.

      • Chloeee says:

        @Bec
You’re right! Social media is the downfall of this country. The negativity is unreal. Thank goodness we have Donald Trump to lead by example on the front. You’re so right about the ultra wealthy being out of touch with the little guys. That’s why I’m so glad we have Donald Trump in office-whose meager upbringing truly connect him with the average joe. He has been wonderful to his employees, and always prompt with his payments-so I’m so glad you will finally see the return you deserve after his presidency. Obama did nothing for me. My disabled sister didn’t need that healthcare anyways. I’m sure she’d tell you the same if she could talk. Man, i can’t wait to see what Donald Trump will do for her since I know the disabled are a group near and dear to his heart.

        Get a fucking clue.

      • SusanneToo says:

Which state are you in Bec? Not one of the red ones, I hope. Here’s a handy map showing the takers and the givers Not surprisingly, most of the takers are in the red states. In my state, for instance, Alabama, we get about $3.25 for every $1.00 we send to DC. I apologize to lightpurple who only gets $0.90 while she supports the people who vote against her. http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/05/which-states-are-givers-and-which-are-takers/361668/

      • doofus says:

Eric, I am stealing ALL OF THESE. going to post a poll on FB of which one will be used for the next few years.

      • MoreSalt says:

Aw, Bec, I’m sorry honey. Let me find you a nice safe space where you don’t have to listen to words you don’t like!

I anxiously away your return in four years to tell us about all the great things that Mr. Trump has done for you in his time in office.

      • hogtowngooner says:

“49% who don’t want to work”? Are you for real??? If the unemployment and non-working rate combined was anything close to this figure, the US would be in a crippling depression.

If you have to falsify statistics to make your point, your argument is immediately invalid.

      • WendyNerd says:

Bec, you realize you just posted something that literally said, “I WASN’T GIVEN ANYTHING, I HATE LAZY PEOPLE WHO EXPECT OTHERS TO GIVE THEM STUFF!!!” Right? And that no one forces you to put money in Hollywood’s pocket?

      • Eric says:

@doofus. No problem. I stole a few myself but I particularly like Home Despot because Home Depot’s color is Orange.
        @bec
        Bye Felicia!

      • Cacec04 says:

Bec, you live in a democracy where there are always going to be people disagreeing with who is president. It’s been that way since our first president and it will continue to be that way. Are we to believe you didn’t complain or deign to saying disrespectful things about Obama during his 8 years? Don’t be hypocritical and accept that there are people who don’t like Trump. I could go into all the reasons why it’s very appropriate to dislike Trump but that’s not really the point. Stop looking at government to fix your problems. No matter which party our nation is under at any given time we will still have issues and people will have to find a way to work through and out of them. I’m sure your struggles are real, but there are no quick fixes for it and I’m afraid you will find yourself hurting more in time.

      • Kitten says:

        Thanks for that link, SusanneToo.

As LightPurple pointed out, I do think the “Obama did nothing for me!!” portion of Bec’s comment provides some valuable insight into how people on the Right think. They really seem to be under the impression that a President exists SOLELY to serve them and enrich their life.

No wonder they’re so bitter and feel so marginalized. No wonder they vote based on whoever they think can lower their insurance premiums and get them a job. They’re just an incredibly self-interested group of people who don’t think beyond their tiny little world. They don’t think about the health of their fellow man, they don’t think about the rights of women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community, they don’t think about the environment, they don’t think about our education system, or the general quality of life that every American deserves.
Everything is ME ME ME. They just want what they want and f*ck everyone else. The sense of entitlement is truly astonishing.

      • Nina says:

Bec, if you think that Trump is going to do ANYTHING for you, you’re delusional. His campaign was nothing but an ego trip. He doesn’t give a rat’s ass about you.

        @Kitten – agreed wholeheartedly!

      • SusanneToo says:

@eric. Home Despot is spot on! I haven’t set foot in a Home Depot since reading the following years ago:
        http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/19/663597/-

      • isabelle says:

        I’m fond of Comrade Snowflake.

    • Ama says:

      Word!

    • Sarah says:

And let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The way Trump talks about his daughter and the way he touched her and they kissed each other at the Repub Convention was thoroughly disturbing. His hands were all over her. Stockholm syndrome?

    • Tinkerbell says:

I REALLY think the White House will be better with her there. I like her; I don’t think she’s perfect, but she’s rational.

      • KIwi says:

I advise you to read her Cosmo interview. She was woefully misinformed and contradicted herself, then essentially shut it down when things got too real. She has liked many of her father’s despicable tweets and obviously supports him all the way. Don’t me misled by a calm voice, veneered teeth and highlights.

  7. Layla Beans says:

She is totally his Golden Child, and that relationship is super enmeshed and gross.

    • Nameless says:

Yeah! I read an article about Tiffany. Marla got out of Dodge and raised her in CA. She saw her dad twice a year. He wants to have children with multiple women but can’t seem to be bothered with the ones that aren’t Ivana’s. He has been campaigning for two years so when does he see Barron? There was a sad story about the Obamas offering to leave their daughters’ swingset for Barron and the Trumps said no.

      • Layla Beans says:

The swing set isn’t gold, it’s used, and it was used by black people. Of course they wouldn’t want it. This whole thing makes me sick.

      • JenB says:

        That is sad.

      • OTHER RENEE says:

I doubt that the poor kid has ever been on anything so pedestrian as a swing. Or done anything that most kids would consider to be normal.

      • chaine says:

I feel very, very bad for Barron. I have yet to see any public appearance where his dad cuddled him or they seemed remotely close. I have never seen a picture where Barron was smiling. I suppose he literally never interacts with his father because his father is a 70-year-old geezer who is too busy tweeting at his enemies. You won’t see them playing catch together on the White House lawn.

      • Bethy says:

Remember that story from one of Donald’s sons college roommate? Donald showed up to take him to a game – basketball? – and son was wearing jeans. Donald slapped his kid and told him to change into a suit. Real father of the year material. You’ll never see Donald rolling around in the snow with Barron like President Obama and his girls.

      • Kitten says:

Yeah Bethy I remember that story and it turned my stomach. If I recall correctly he slapped in front of several of his dorm mates.

I hadn’t heard the one about the Obama girls though. That’s just a new level of depressing.

      • Mathilde says:

Poor child! Healthy relationships do not exclude other people but create even more connections and relationships 🙁

      • swak says:

At least the swing set will be appreciated at the shelter to which it was donated. @chaine, or play out in the snow like Obama did.

      • Shark Bait says:

Didn’t Melania give some interview about how Barron has a whole floor to himself and he and his friends drink Frappacinos and play video games all day?
No wonder Barron always looks bewildered during appearances. He probably barely knows his dad at all, and has little knowledge of the real world. Talk about living in a bubble.

      • supposedtobeworking says:

I remember Melania on Oprah or something years ago when Barron was a toddler. she described their house, and that there were numerous rooms he would not be allowed to enter because he is a kid and they need to learn their place, which is really only in the family area, not the entertaining or purposefully curated areas. : (

  8. whyme says:

I just came to comment on the pic of him standing next to her. He looks like a 6 year old boy that’s just been yelled at to stay still and behave.

    • JustCrimmles says:

it’s the hands. with a hint of petulant satsuma.

    • doofus says:

note how all of his children are covering their down-low parts.

maybe “grabbing them by the…” was how he disciplined them when they were kids.

  9. Ramona says:

In his Fox interview he briefly mentioned that Michelle has spoken to Melania and then segued that to Ivanka and how she gets along with Michelle and that they had an hour long phone appointment. Ivankas the First Lady for all intents and purposes. Creepy gets creepier.

    • gogoboot says:

I don’t think Melania even likes him anymore if she ever did.
I get the feeling Ivanka told Melania something like, just tow the line and we’ll let you know when you are needed here in Washington.

      • Ama says:

I’d say Melania is happy she doesn’t have to sleep with this orange blob anymore. Good excuse. Headache, gotta stay in N.Y.C. for our son, well.. another year, well …until he has finished high school…

      • Kori says:

if it wasn’t for the cost, I’d say good for Melania for escaping to nyc.

  10. Mich says:

A position for which she is spectacularly unqualified. The hubris of this family is amazing. I can’t fasten my seat belt tight enough for the bumpy ride ahead.

    • ashipper says:

I know! What on God’s green earth makes her qualified to counsel the President of the United States? It’s madness. She’s just there to prop him up because he is so out of his depth with this job.

BTW, did you guys see the really weird tweet pic of him “writing” his inauguration speech at Mar-a-Lago. He called it the “Winter White House,” so I guess he’s telling us where he’s going to be living and it ain’t the White House in DC. I hate him.

    • Sarah says:

She and Jared are there because he has early Alzheimers. He needs someone to remember stuff for him.
That has been my observstion and I’m sticking to it.

      • Nic919 says:

Alec Baldwin tweeted that his response to a question about who is hero was, which was a babbling mess, is textbook dementia. He is the oldest president ever. Reagan was younger when he was first elected.

  11. L says:

So we will have a woman president after all.. there is no way the two marbles rolling around in Donald’s head have the capability

  12. Shambles says:

I saw this cover yesterday, and I wanted to hurl.

“So normal! Just like you! See how she does it!”

So normal, how she publicly aligns herself with her father’s incompetence, ignorance, bigotry, nastiness, lies, and delusions

Just like you, how she was born into wealth, and will do whatever she needs to do to stay wealthy, including sit by as your rights are trampled on

See how she does it: put a pretty, white, blonde face on her father and his administration, which is the pure manifestation of every ugly thought this country has ever had

    • Lady D says:

Did you notice the “(she speaks her mind!)” on the cover. I bet that’s a direct response to Chelsea Handler’s “none of his kids has ever stood up to him” remark.

      • Esmom says:

I don’t know if it’s a response to Handler but I noticed and think it’s BS. How much could she be “standing up to him” and “offering a rational point of view” when he’s still tweeting like an unhinged lunatic and worrying about his wife’s fashion designer prospects? As someone said yesterday, the fact that Trump even speaks to his kids is proof that they’ve never stood up to him.

      • Nic919 says:

He is an abusive parent and no one can control him. If he could be controlled the tweeting would have stopped ages ago. If my dad was tweeting like a crazy person I could get him to stop. But then my dad wouldn’t slap me in the face for not wearing a suit to a baseball game.

Cheeto was physically abused by his dad too. There will be many stories of fits and yelling by the time this is done. He is an unstable angry man.

    • gogoboot says:

HELLO Mag also has been trying to normalize them with covers and articles for weeks. I don’t even click when I see any of the Trumps being touted on a Magazine cover usually.

    • AnneC says:

If she has had any influence on him or given him “other points of view” it’s been a spectacular failure. Trump is, if anything, more unhinged lately. She and her creepy husband are excited for the power they’ve obtained and will look the other way as he dismantles healthcare, environmental laws and regulations and says and does hateful things against immigrants. Hey, it’s what got him elected and they want him to continue being president rather than help the country. Just hoping that the entire Trump family is forever tainted by his corruption and ugliness.

    • Sarah says:

A pretty (abused?) face on evil.

  13. JustCrimmles says:

you can make him be still, you can make him eat his vegetables, but you CANNOT/WILL NOT make him like it. this is Emporer kleinen Fäusten.

  14. thaisajs says:

Look, if the choice is between Ivanka running the country and Donald doing it, I’ll pick her every time. Not even a contest. Ideally, those two would not be our only choices, but that’s where we are (for now). It makes me feel slightly less panicked that she’s here in DC instead of the two sons, who do stupid, sleazy things.

I live in DC and I have to say, I’ve never been so frightened about my safety here. His foreign policy pronouncements are truly, truly destabilizing. I’ve starting look at websites that offer guidance on how to survive a nuclear attack. (And I’m not some crazy survivalist type!)

    • gogoboot says:

I want no part of any of the Trumps and Ivanka is no better with her racists friends.
Fk the Trumps. I will not say one thing nice about this horrid family, even when one of them attempts to closet the Racism in her world.

    • isabelle says:

Remember this is the same girl that was photographed with Putin supposed girlfriend. If possible she has less qualifications than Trump.

      • Canadian Becks says:

Yeah, when those pictures of Ivanka vacationing with Wendi Deng were published, it was strange to behold. An odd association, for sure, made odder by the supposed fact that they were vacationing alone, sans kids and husband.

Their kids are not the same age, nor has there ever been any outward signs that they even knew each other.

Makes one wonder at the common denominator linking the two of them.

      • LAK says:

Canadian Becks: They’ve been friends for years. Wendi played cupid to Kushner and Ivanka. If you follow society social pages, they’ve popped up together at parties. It feels odd in this context because regular people suddenly decided to pay attention to their friendship and to call it new.

That said, i wouldn’t say that they are besties because i don’t know them personally, but Wendi has created a specatacular network of trophy friends in her time as Mrs Murdoch, and stepped it up a notch post divorce.

As for the possible Putin connection, Wendi is ‘friends’ and in art business with the wife of Roman Abramovich who is Putin’s pet Oligarch.

    • Mathilde says:

I cannot understand the number of serious articles about this ridiculous family. Like the one on CNN where someone speculated whether Jared Kushner would be able to create peace in the Middle East! As in… Peace in the Middle East! Really?!?!! Most of them seem to be written by men, i.e. the establishment I presume whichever newsmedia they happen to work for. Please God put some brave and competent women into these positions, and no, certainly not Ivanka. It’s like the emperor’s new clothes right now! 🙁

    • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

I think Ivanna is much more dangerous than baby fists. She is a more attractive package but every bit as evil and her husband is even worse.

  15. eggyweggs says:

Looking at her eyes on the cover of US Weekly, I am reminded of this quote, from one of my VERY favorite movies ever, “Jaws”: “Y’know the thing about a shark, he’s got… lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn’t seem to be livin’… until he bites ya. And those black eyes roll over white, and then… oh, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin’, the ocean turns red, and spite of all the poundin’ and the hollerin’, they all come in and they… rip you to pieces. “

  16. Mel says:

Whenever I see any news about Ivanka, I go back to this article:

    https://www.buzzfeed.com/annehelenpetersen/fear-ivanka?utm_term=.vpq98Z0Ne#.jdn4LPK8v

I, for one, say we shouldn’t underestimate her.
She is the product of her environment.
If she wanted to break free from her father, she would have done it already.
She wears the velvet glove, as opposed to baby fist who just throws tantrums , but the fist is very much iron underneath.

    • robyn says:

I agree. She supports everything he does.

    • Belle Epoch says:

There was another article yesterday “Don’t Take Your Eyes Off Ivanka for One F–king Second”:

      http://theslot.jezebel.com/dont-take-your-eyes-off-ivanka-trump-for-one-fucking-se-1789264942

What qualifications does she have to be the most powerful woman in the world? Selling shoes? Vacationing with Putin’s ex-girlfriend? She is EXACTLY like her father but young and pretty, and she knows how to exploit the mommy image. Two UN-elected people – Ivanka and Jared – will be running the country, and the laws governing Presidential behavior will not apply to either one.

      • steerpike says:

I find Ivanka and Jared terrifying. Everything that I have read about them suggests that they are cold as ice. The problem with Ivanka is that she wants to believe that she has earned what she has – therefore she can believe that anyone who is not well off just doesn’t deserve to be because they must not work hard like she does.

My only hope is that four years from now, the Trump name will be so tainted that Ivanka and Jared’s future in politics will be sunk.

  17. robyn says:

Did anybody vote for Ivanka? Ugh … this superficial side of America and normalizing is painful. A surgically enhanced pretty white woman so everything must be okay. As for Melania, I wouldn’t be surprised if she wasn’t a Russian set up when she first met Trump. Cultivating Trump has been a long time coming. If that sounds too farfetched from the perspective of Russia regaining pre WW2 power would most definitely be worth the wait.

    • KHLBHL says:

Wow. No. Melania is Slovenian. Slovenia =/= Russia. Can’t a country have its own identity apart from decades-long subjugation from larger powers? This is like saying Polish people are the same as Russians or Korean people are the same as Japanese people because a past history of colonization and occupation. Just because she sounds vaguely Eastern European, you equate her as being Russian? What a horrific generalization. I don’t like any of the Trumps but saying something like this is not right.

      • robyn says:

Sorry did not mean to be offend and I was not actually equating Russia with Slovenia. I am well aware they are different. It’s not her nationality but how she met him and what her intentions were that is open to speculation. Maybe she was looking for a wealthy man to marry, maybe she loved him, maybe there is something entirely unknown behind her meeting with Trump. She has made it clear she supports him completely … that means his Russian attitude as well. Heck if Trump can speculate whether Obama was born in America this speculation is not so far fetched.

    • AnnaKist says:

Robyn, your comment made me re-read this article from one of our news services. I’d forgotten about this. Anyone here remember?

  18. isabelle says:

So we did get a female President she is just more Lady Macbeth than an actual qualified adviser.

  19. Nancy says:

Their relationship makes me uncomfortable. He’s like the inappropriate drunk uncle at the reunion who makes everyone squirm but her. She’s totally fine with him describing her as hot and the Internet is loaded with gag worthy pics of her on his lap, or at the convention where he put his hands on her hips. I don’t get how her husband and his wife can think this is a healthy relationship. Being his most prized possession is one thing but allowing her into the inner circle of the fate of our country, seriously??! Where’s Carrie Underwood, Jesus Take The Wheel.

    • MunichGirl says:

Imagine Obama would behave like that – all hell would break loose.

    • Ruyana says:

Ivanka is very aware of it and she’s using it to her advantage. She’s just as much a manipulator as her disgusting father. His incestuous lust for her has given her a position of power that she did not earn or win, plus it makes sure she gets the biggest piece of the pie in his will.

They both make me gag. Oh, and don’t forget his SIL. He will be mixing in too. This is like a mob family running the country (into the ground).

      • Nancy says:

It does seem incestuous Ruyana, but how can that be used to her advantage. It doesn’t seem like she’s doing anything to shut it down. It’s as though she encourages it. Her husband is extremely wealthy, how much does she want. You’re right, for the SIL it is married to the mob. Sigh..

    • C says:

Hey – nothing wrong with your comment. The man was once quoted from an interview saying “if Ivanka wasn’t my daughter I would be dating her.” I think in his daughter he has everything he didn’t get in his wives.

  20. Rapunzel says:

I am around Ivanka’s age and my daddy is around DT’s age. My daddy has never once asked me for advice. Why? Because he can take care of himself.

We officially have a PEOTUS who cannot take care of himself. This is a bigly disaster.

  21. Cee says:

No one in the President’s family should be allowed to hold official positions. It’s NEPOTISM.

    • swak says:

I believe (and I could be wrong) they are getting away with it because they are not paying them. Thought I read that when this all started happening (once he was elected).

      • Cee says:

Even if it’s unpaid it’s nepotism.

      • Kori says:

i think they’re using the precedent of Bill putting hillary in charge of healthcare. Jared’s lawyer is Jamie gorelick who was in the DOJ under Clinton.

  22. Erica says:

Strange how Ivanka had no issue about moving her kids to Washington and uprooting them from their school, friends and routines….

  23. QQ says:

The Notion that the Groper in Chief needs his daughter as human Paci/to beautify the crap he spews just Boggles the mind… that this is an acceptable measure to take and no one is putting a stop to open conflict of interest/nepotism … I just cant

  24. HappyMom says:

She was NOT the person elected here-and it is beyond infuriating that people are supportive of this. I am old enough to remember when Bill Clinton got elected the first time. When Bill said initially that the U.S. got “Two for One” in that he also had HRC and then she tried to get a healthcare program going-people came UNGLUED.

    • Nic919 says:

Same here. And Hillary actually had experience that was relevant for the health care issue and a trained lawyer. Ivanka has a BA. Those are nothing to get. Anyone can get a BA is they have money. It’s like what completing high school was in the 60s. Plus she went to her dad’s school so she got in through alumni exception.

      • HappyMom says:

Exactly. What the hell does she know about policy or government or ANYTHING?? God-it just makes me ragey.

    • Tessa says:

Is there not security/ privacy issues with these unofficial posts? Surely you can’t just have a nice chat with your daughter about state secrets?

  25. Lightpurple says:

    LOCK HER UP!!!

  26. Prikalop says:

I would respect Ivanka more if she did not follow her dad’s tails in everything. A smart, accomplished should be able to trail her own path without the need of dad’s PR machine. In a way, the Kartrashians at least had to fight for they have now. Ivanka earned pretty much everything from Trump: her executive position at Trump’s companies, her side job at The Apprentice and with it, her fashion label. She never held any position that was not hand fed to her, except perhaps modeling. Which leads to question: is she really that accomplished? Would she be hired by any top company and hold her job? As everything Trump-related, Ivanka’s real talents and agenda are nothing but smoking mirrors and obscurity. She can be a 100% PR-created personna, all her Instagram pictures are impeccably taken (no messy kids’s food staining the carpet, enfants impeably coiffed and clean with just-ironed clothes, no sign of that lost toy in the corner left by any REAL working mom)… She hung on the interview when questioned on content about her maternity plans – no depth, just memorized shallow speech? And her interviews are really professionally staged – you can see she received training as she keeps looking for the camera, straitgheming hair and occasionally fix posture. She is outspoken, but well-trained, not natural. She likes the spotlight, as her dad. She does not say the outrageous things her dad says, but she has been along all the way. Does she subscribe to her fathers’s thinking? I’d say one has to at least minimally agree with some of it, because some of Trumps’s positions are really outrageous. She’s not being forced into the WH and politics, otherwise she could stay by the side. Now, her husband – sccomplishments and strange campaign behavior apart – seems to have been a democrat. Child care is a democrat agenda item deeply disliked by the GOP. If they can get that passed by the GOP throat, all the better, kudos for them. But I think it is a mistake to talk about Ivanka as poor girl who was dragged to this because she’s the only one who can control the Donald. She likes power, she likes the image of herself being powerful. Not sure if she likes the workload that comes with it or would indeed have the discipline to prepare helself to create her own political career.

  27. Alix says:

As a senior advisor, she’s one hell of a shoe designer.

    • steerpike says:

Except that apparently she steals her designs, so not sure she is much good in the shoe designing department either.

  28. cindy says:

I still cannot wrap my mind around the fact that this is happening. When does the shock/denial/unreality wear off? Watching the news is like watching a car accident while at the same time being inside the car that is crashing.

    • Nancy says:

I was talking about the same thing yesterday. Even when you are in grief, eventually you reach the stage of acceptance. This is a tricky one. I personally can’t shake it off, nor can any of my friends or family. I watched President Obama’s last Press Conference and I felt anxiety that he was actually going to be gone. Only time will tell if we will ever have a feeling of normalcy again.

      • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

“I personally can’t shake it off” Neither can I, in fact I am getting angrier with each day. I know he won’t last 4 years but if he should, I will be a raging lunatic.

      • Sarah says:

Im in shock, angry, in disbelief that my country would actually vote for this vile human being. Vile. I know it was only 24% of elegible voters, but they are now smug, vocal and gleeful in their nastiness.

  29. Prikalop says:

By the way, I believe that plane incident was 100% staged. Heck, did ANYBODY EVER see this lady on a commercial plane for a transcontinental flight, no less, sitting in coach in a cheap Sothwest flight… Give me a break. even if they did not had the money to actually live luxurious lives – as I suspect it was the case at times when TRAMPs businesses were in the doldrums, they would take loan and fake it. That for me screamed: I am like my dad in which I need adoration.

  30. I'mScaredAsHell says:

Who’s on the cover next? Racist Ann Coulter or her Millennial clone, Tammy Lahren? These sycophantic magazines are doing their best to normalize the Trump cabal and shove this garbage down our throats.

  31. Harryg says:

    I can’t stand this I can’t stand this I can’t stand this.

  32. Neelyo says:

Great, now we’re going to have to pretend she’s attractive for four years. She’s not, she’s just a dyed blonde with plastic surgery.

    • QQ says:

      OOP!!!!!

There is no Lie… I Cannot Locate it!

    • Fiorella says:

depends what you find attractive! I think she’s very pretty and her dyed blonde hair is tasteful in tone, also healthy. Her mom unfortunately has bad plastic surgery though

  33. Pandy says:

Yeah, SURE Ivanka would rather stay in NYC and attend parties with celebrities. If she wanted to, she would still be there. This family can’t wait to get their mitts over as much $ making opportunities as they can. She’s right where she wants to be. Don’t be fooled by her because she’s a woman. She’s just a Mini Cheetoh in Made in China Trump clothing.

    • steerpike says:

I read somewhere that when Ivanka was about fourteen, she was upset that her father had not trademarked her name. She is her father’s daughter through and through, just in a prettier package. What amazes me is how people fall for her act. I agree, I’m sure that wild horses couldn’t keep her away from DC at this point.

  34. tw says:

Is anyone else bothered by the Saxon-ification of Melanija Knavs to Melania Knauss?

  35. NK says:

    “short-tempered, baby-fingered, tantrum-prone moron”

Ha ha ha ha ha ha sob.

  36. SusanneToo says:

I assume ivanka will be using @Flotus to hawk her wares. Or will melania simply repost some of Michelle’s tweets?

  37. Canadian Becks says:

So blatantly favouring one child over another, and having it trumpeted as fact by mainstream media, over and over, it’s enough to make the other siblings green with resentment.

Especially for Donald Jr., as he’s the oldest.
You would think it’s also humiliating as everyone knows that your sister and even that non-blood relation, your brother-in-law, is your father’s #1 & 2.

I keep wondering if there are resentful feelings simmering between the family members.

  38. IlsaLund says:

Wonder if the White House Correspondents Association will even hold an event this year given Trumps hatred of the press and the fact most A listers want nothing to do with him.

  39. Singtress says:

Our company just delivered super over-priced furnture to her D.C. Location.
    I’ve felt dirty all week.

    • Pandy says:

At least it was over priced …. altho they are likely bilking the taxpayers for it. First Daughter and all. Isn’t that title reserved for younger children – not grown women who are mothers themselves?

    • Annetommy says:

The daily mail was praising her “thriftiness” in getting IKEA furniture. Yeh right…for the help’s quarters I expect. But hey, let’s normalise her. She buys self-assembly flat pack Swedish furniture just like us!

      • Singtress says:

No this stuff just looks like IKEA. But at IKEA a table would cost $300. At her shop of choice : $3500

  40. AnnE says:

Kinda tired of Ivanka being painted as her fathers closest advisor and how effective she is. If she is so great then why are his policies so short sighted and ill informed. This “friend” demonstrates just how out of touch, not just the Trumps are but also their social, professional and cirle of friends are. “… he made the best deal for his daughter … he gave her Washington”. Isn’t his job to get the best deal for the country not just his family. Maybe he should consider surrounding himself with better educated, experienced people in area’s of policy. If he wants to ask her about how to duplicate other designers designs, have them made oversea’s on the cheap, slap her logo on it, hawk them while at Republican events and price and sell them as original designs, she’s your gal. Ask her how to balance hiring and scheduling nannies, cooks and housekeepers and still find time to spend a whole hour a day with her kids, she’s your gal. How to land an executive VP job at her dad’s company, she’s your gal.

She “…could act as her dad’s buffer…has a knack for calming her father…She balances him out…She learned to keep her mouth shut….then rationally explains other points of view”. Are you kidding me, calm and balanced are not words that could be used to describe her father, ever! She has failed on that front, just ask twitter.

She showed her true colors while under pressure of the campaign trail, I lost all respect for her after her handling of the “p***ygate” and during her interview with Cosmo magazine. As a wise woman once said “…when someone shows you who they are, believe them…”. She showed us she IS her father’s daughter, just a little bit more shine on the outside since she hasn’t had years of being challenged.

Now that she is actually being tested she is showing us that she really was just an overrated person who had the benefit or great PR and people’s desperate hopes for some salvation.
I will quote my fellow countryman “America, man. They never fail you”.

  41. Jayna says:

I think Jared, her husband, is his closest advisor.

  42. mayamae says:

There’s just something creepy about a woman who farms her three small children out to nannies, yet devotes her life to babysitting her own father. And really, what is she going to do, come running down the hall in her negligee to stop his 0430 twitter rants? Maybe she will sleep on a pallet in the corner of his bedroom?

  43. whyme says:

Sorry, just want to get this out there so you’ll see it multiple times:

If you plan on boycotting the inauguration by not watching or changing the channel it won’t count because viewership is based specifically on Nielsen ratings, so to boycott it’s about social media. Don’t watch anything on social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), don’t put a little angry face because that doesn’t count, it’s the hits on the videos.

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/19/politics/turn-off-tv-inauguration-debunk-trnd/

  44. Annetommy says:

At least if she had an official position there would be some sort of accountability to Congress. This power behind the throne cr@ap means zero accountability. And who the hell wants a 70 year old president who has to be placated by their daughter? Well, the US apparently…

  45. Don Dingus, American Disgrace says:

Yeah I BET she will. They’ll snuggle and cuddle together each night while Melania prepares the orange paint for the next morning.

  46. Ariel says:

What does US Weekly gain out of the equivalent to nazi propaganda.
    Ivanka is Eva Braun.

So scared for our lives and our souls.
