Us Weekly: Melania Trump’s entire existence is made of sadness & misery

Tom Brady & The New England Patriots Celebrate Their Super Bowl Victory In Boston

We’ve talked before about the sympathy we could and possibly should have for Melania Trump. I honestly don’t like to think about it too much, because if I really imagine what her life is like being married to Donald Trump, I think I would find her sympathetic. Of course, then I remind myself that Melania – of her own free will – continued to stoke the birtherism issue. As in, she was going on TV and demanding that President Obama reveal his birth certificate. So… yeah. Also remember that Melania’s legal argument in one of her recent lawsuits was that suggesting she was an escort hurts her ability to profit from the office of the First Lady. Anyway, Us Weekly has devoted this week’s cover story to Poor Melania And Her Penthouse Of Sadness. She’s so sad, you guys. She just sits in her penthouse and cries.

While her husband, Donald Trump, wields his power as president, first lady Melania Trump is struggling with the realities of her new role and the scrutiny that comes with it, insiders reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly. “This life wasn’t her dream. It was Donald’s,” Trump family friend and stylist Phillip Bloch tells Us. “Truthfully, it’s a lot to cope with.”

“Melania is unhappy with how her life ended up,” alleges a family source. “She is miserable.”

Since inauguration day, Melania has spent most of her time holed up in her lavish apartment. Never a fixture on the NYC social scene, “she is staying hidden more,” claims Bloch. (By contrast, Michelle Obama hosted an open house for select members of the public, plus a party for White House staffers during her first week on the job in 2009.) According to a family source, not even Barron can get her out the gold-plated front door. Pre-inauguration, Melania would shuttle her son in a chauffeured SUV to and from his private school. But that was before picketers took up residence outside her building. Now, claims the source, “Melania has the Secret Service take Barron to school and retrieve him.”

Melania has left her $100 million apartment a handful of times. But aside from one outing to run errands January 30, she has usually headed to her other (luxurious) home. The first lady joined Donald, 70, at Mar-a-Lago, their $300 million estate in Palm Beach, Florida, the weekend of February 3. She went the following weekend too — with a quick pit stop in Washington, D.C., to catch a ride on Air Force One with Donald and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife, Akie.

“Melania says she’s most happy at Mar-a-Lago,” says a source close to the first lady. “She loves Palm Beach!”

In familiar surroundings, she happily played hostess February 11. It was a conspicuous contrast to the previous day, when the most important woman in Japan was left to tour various spots in the nation’s capital minus the traditional first lady escort. (Both Laura Bush and Obama accompanied Akie on previous visits.) While their husbands talked policy over a round of golf February 11, Melania and Akie visited a Bethesda-by-the-Sea church — where the Trumps wed in 2005 — and strolled around the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach. “Don’t let her smile in those photos fool you,” claims the source. “She hates this.”

A Melania source counters that “she is very happy with her life and supporting her husband and family.”

[From Us Weekly]

It’s interesting to me that Melania’s entire argument for staying in New York was to keep Barron on his school schedule, and to be a full-time mom and now she’s not even doing that – she makes the Secret Service take him to school and she’s spending weekends in Palm Beach. Ugh. Anyway, it wouldn’t surprise me if Melania is miserable, just like it wouldn’t surprise me if she had been miserable for a long time. She’s going to be even more miserable when her p-ssygrabber pervert husband is impeached.

Excuse me, I need to get a tissue… so sad (sniff)…

    • Tate says:

Pass the box over here. So much sadness.

      • ElleBee says:

Pass it this way when you’re done. I need to be consoled

      • doofus says:

yes, let us all get out our tiny violins for Melaaaaaaaania.

reminds me of that old saying, “when you marry for money, you earn every penny”.

      • Radley says:

        Much sad. Very grief.

She married an utterly despicable human being in exchange for a life of luxury. She’s seems lazy and uninterested in pretty much anything. What does she actually enjoy doing? Watching tv and reading magazines? And not even Cheetolini can make her get off her a$$ to meet all of her FLOTUS obligations? Is she real or a mannequin??

I guess misery is the price one pays when you bring nothing but superficiality to the table. Wallow in it.

    • mia girl says:

I think I might need to call in sick today. I’m not sure I can get out of bed now. So sad.

      • Beth says:

I wish we could all be sad and upset in a $100 million dollar apartment or $300 million dollar house. Poor Melania 😢

      • Snowflake says:

        @beth
I agree. I am willing to stop working 50 hours a week and free Melania. I will sacrifice and stay in the penthouse and go shopping. And not work. And will also make the necessary visits to the plastic surgeon. My heart bleeds for her…

    • Onemoretime says:

She’s a gross gold digger who married of her own free will and so is her fat gross husband! She gets no sympathy here!

      • WeAreAllMadeOfStars says:

I remember when they publicly announced their marriage and a smart mouthed reporter asked, “Do you really think Donald would be interested in you if you weren’t beautiful?” And without missing a beat, she replied, “Do you really think I would be interested in him if he weren’t rich?” It made me like her.

    • r.s.orr says:

She should divorce him while he’s President. what could he do, except tweet insane crap?

  2. Clare says:

Like I said about Tiffany Trump yesterday – I *MAY* have had some sympathy for this woman, had she not tried to profit from her new position. But she did, and continues to do so. So no, no sympathy here.

    • Sue E. Generis says:

Totally agree. Melania is incredibly selfish. How many people, given the resources she has at her disposal, would have welcomed the opportunity to give back to others in some way. But, no, she’s in a snit because she can’t have everything her own way, spending her life indulging herself. Consequently, we the public have to pay ridiculous amounts of money ($1 million per day?) to indulge her selfishness while the first lady role remains unfilled.

Make no mistake, Melania is a taker. Just like her husband, she’s greedy, self-indulgent and only concerned about herself.

      • Embee says:

Agreed. And she seems to think she is entitled to her way because she is…pretty? I mean sure, she’s an attractive woman with a nice figure, but does she poo diamonds or something? I think she may have a disordered personality like her husband to be so convinced of her superiority without any factual foundation for the conclusion. She, like he, is marginally educated, mediocre in her chosen field of work and yet conducts herself as though she has established superiority. I’m dumbfounded.

      • xo says:

It’s not my intention to suggest that anyone feel sorry for Melania, but I’d like to add two thoughts:

It’s possible that the idea for the recent lawsuit, including the “marketing opportunity” argument, originated NOT with Melania, but with Donald & his lawyers.

It’s also possible, to my mind, that she has some genuine, private concern about her son’s ability to cope with a sudden change of environment & routine.

    • Melanie says:

Zero sympathy. Plus she’s costing us an extra $30 million per month. Again I scream if Michelle Obama had tried to pull this, she would have been called un-American and Congress would have demanded hearings. I’m so sick of this vile family getting a free pass. People need to be shouting about this all day, every day! Her greed, coupled with the crap she did to Obama, show her true colors. Please keep calling your Senators and Congress reps. We cannot be complacent. They have got to go!

      • ShoeAddict says:

        Melanie,
You are absolutely right. If the Obamas took every weekend off, Michelle stayed in Chicago with the girls and Barack carried on as Trump has, there would have been a government shut down. The Republicans would have started impeachment proceedings. I don’t know why everyone is giving the Grand Cheeto a break. It’s inexucasable and unacceptable. I hope he is impeached soon.

  3. Nicole says:

Let me whip out my tiny violin.

    • Esmom says:

      Lol.

I think she’ll be happy when he’s impeached…she can finally drop any semblance of caring about anything but herself.

    • Megan says:

She is so sad because she thought being First Lady was a get-rich-quick scheme. No doubt she is crying over all the money she will never make.

  4. Sarah says:

They will get a divorce when he’s out of office.

    • ElleBee says:

She probably won’t have to wait long. He’ll be impeached by year end

    • swak says:

He’ll file and blame her for the failure of the marriage!

    • WeAreAllMadeOfStars says:

Why? You think that guy will live much longer?

    • Apples says:

I don’t think she’ll ever divorce him. We only now get a glimpse of they way he is treating her but she’s been with him for years so I think she just doesn’t care. She lives in a nice place, doesn’t have to worry about money and probably only cares about her son anyway. I bet they give one another so much space is suits them both. Besides, Trump is vindictive and I can see how divorcing him would just be a bother – he hates loosing. He is 70 and she is only 46… she might just wait it out.

  5. Froggy says:

She knowingly made her deal with the devil.

    • smcollins says:

Yes @Froggy, exactly! And she could walk away if she really wanted, First Lady or not. Is there some law that says the POTUS & FLOTUS can’t get a divorce? I mean they’ve already bucked tradition with her not residing at the WH…I have zero sympathy for her.

      • graymatters says:

Traditionally, politicians are (ostensibly) happily married. It’s meant to signal to the voters that they’re stable, faithful, reliable people with a moral code that voters can respect. Trump advertised the opposite about himself throughout the campaign and he still got elected so he probably wouldn’t feel the same external pressure to not divorce as someone else might.

    • Christin says:

She was the third taker of a booby prize. It wasn’t like a well-documented tabloid history wasn’t available.

  6. Jenns says:

F**k Melania. I have negative sympathy for her. I’ll save my sympathy for all the refugees and immigrants that will suffer from her husband’s policies.

    • Megan says:

      +1,000

    • BearcatLawyer says:

Speaking of immigration, why has she not released her immigration records as she promised during the campaign? #stillwaiting

      • vauvert says:

Well, her immigration records are on vacation with his taxes:-)

      • Christin says:

I’d like to see hers, as well as her parents’. They supposedly live near her in NYC. Are all three completely legal?

      • Beth says:

She might have misplaced them in one of her ginormous houses. A tough part of having such big homes! She was always nagging about Obamas birth certificate. He gave proof to the naggers.Time for her to show her records.

    • sara says:

Or our troops being forced into a war and likely killed because of her husbands disgusting ego.

It makes me sick that this administration refuses to open the border for women and children.

    • lucy2 says:

Me too. And women, and the environment, and everyone else they are hurting with their awful policies.
Sorry but she made her choice, and now she has to live with it.

      • sarah says:

@lucy2 : I agree but a small part of me feels bad for Melania. She is close to 50, her one child is becoming more independent/less adoring/more of Daddy’s boy, she is losing her looks (aging sucks) and Trump always treated her like crap anyway, preferring to have his daughter Ivanka as an emotional spouse substitute. Yes, she did get both what she wanted (lots of money) and what she deserved (transforming into a rich man’s botoxed Barbie). But I wonder if Melania like all of us in our ’20’s thought she could handle it, she could make it turn out differently for her, she could come out on top! But now she sees she is just an aging trophy wife looking over her shoulder to see if her inevitable replacement is gaining on her.

  7. Jamie says:

Whatever. I don’t want a cent of my tax money going to maintain a second full-time White House because she can’t stand to be around her husband.

  8. Cakelover says:

Those pants are no joke lol

  9. Jayna says:

Because she doesn’t get in the car going to and from school because of all the unnecessary attention it brings to her son she’s not being a full-time mom? Baron was on the first trip to Palm Beach.

I don’t feel sorry for her, but believe she hates it.

    • nem says:

yes she is,but not enough to divorce.
      gold digging is real

    • msw says:

Yeah, I have to agree, who gives a damn if she drops him off at school? If my kid rides the bus, does that mean I’m not a full time mom? Seems like a silly bone to pick.

I still feel sorry for her, I can’t help it. I feel sorry for anybody whowould debase themselves by marrying Donald F’ing Trump. Her behavior sucks, but I see it as (possibly) a person who is unsure of herself grafting on to the behaviors of the dominant one in the relationship. I have no doubt Trump prefers women he can manipulate, never someone whose opinions matter to him as much as his own (we’ve seen so much evidence of how he sees women as objects or pets, not people–why should he think of his wife differently?). Maybe I’m wrong, but still, I feel sorry for anybody whose self-esteem sucks that much.

      • swak says:

But one of the reasons they were staying in NYC is so that she could take and pick Barron up from school. I get not wanting to disrupt the school year for him, but don’t put it out there you are doing something you’re not. No sympathy.

    • brailler says:

It’s not that she’s not being a full-time mom by not bringing Barron to school, but it seems to me that she’s not being a very kind or protective one. If the protesters are too much for her to take, imagine how it must seem and feel to Barron. Why make him face all that alone, without his mother’s support? No matter how uncomfortable it makes her feel, perhaps she should suck it up for her son’s sake.

      • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

co-sign Brailler – This! So much – New Yorkers mostly hate the baby fists and Barron probably gets an earful daily.

      • Keaton says:

Yeah this bothers me too. What about poor Barron? If the protesters bother her I imagine they must bother him too.

      • kaiC says:

Barron is the only Trump I truly feel sorry for.

  10. Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

While I have some sympathy for her (its been obvious he treats her badly) – she chased after him and the lifestyle that he came with. She made her bed and should lie in it. I agree she never wanted to be FLOTUS and I think the reason she hides away is because at some point the intelligence services are going to leak evidence that she was a) working in the US illegally and b) was a hooker. She has skeletons in her closet.

When he is eventually impeached he is going to take EVERYONE around him down to. GOP, his own family, his businesses, the Kushners etc.. They dirt that the IS must have on them considering what they have been drip feeding – its a build up to something epic.

    • Ninks says:

When he goes down, it’s going to be spectacular. I hope he takes the whole stinking lot of them with him.

I do feel some sympathy for her, because her husband is an abusive asshole but everything else she’s said or done is despicable so I’m not actively sympathetic for her. F*ck her.

What her reluctance to move to Washington and do anything FLOTUS-y shows is how selfish Trump is. Taking on that role, making a decision like that – to move to a new city, take on a very public position, thrusting her into the spotlight and into a very high profile public role also – should have been made between the two of them. If she wasn’t going to be happy with it, didn’t want to be first wife, didn’t want to move to Washington, didn’t want a non-paid public job, if moving to DC was going to be too difficult for his young child, then he shouldn’t have run. Not that I expect Trumpski to show any consideration for his wife and child.

  11. trollontheloose says:

I don’t buy it. betcha she’s lining contracts left and rights (expecting interviews and books with her homeland but first gotta need to adjust some alternative facts between lies and semi true truth) Plus the more trump is away from her the merrier she feels. I would buy Charlene Princess of Monaco being miserable yes but Melania, no

  12. LouLou says:

He would never have married the kind of woman that is a true partner and equal. Those women scare him. He doesn’t see marriage as being a team. And strong women would never want to be with him either. So they are stuck with each other.

  13. lightpurple says:

And tours of the White House have not been happening because they are organized through the First Lady’s Office and Melania has nobody working in the First Lady’s Office, and no, Ivanka isn’t doing that job either. So, the building that we support with our tax dollars, which is normally open to us unless security reasons dictate otherwise, has been closed to us for nearly a month because Melania would rather spend millions of our tax dollars by staying in New York City.

And I’m sure seeing where Melania and Trump got married was really high on Akie’s list of things to do.

    • Esmom says:

Grr. And lol at your last paragraph, imagining their visit was appalling to me. I can believe that Melania has no familiarity with any other destination because she probably never leaves the family compound when she’s in Palm Beach.

    • Giddy says:

Yes, the scene of their wedding is one of true love, not a contract between a despot and his escort/hooker. I just love love, don’t you?

    • VegasSchmagus says:

Well – good news for Ivanka – if the WH tours begin again, she can sell her unsellable merch in the gift shop. 🙂 I know she can’t, but don’t think this group of grifters isn’t trying to find some kind of loophole so that she can.

And there’s always the “Winter White House” (gag) gift shop.

  14. Odell says:

Melania is scared of giving speeches etc. and I can’t blame her, she’s horrible when it comes to stuff like that.

    • swak says:

She could hire someone to help her with her speeches and how to present herself in situations where she is uncomfortable.

    • Christin says:

She appeared on a home shopping network numerous times to hawk her merchandise. Maybe she can pretend she’s being paid?

    • hogtowngooner says:

How is she going to get any better if she doesn’t try? It’s not like she doesn’t have the resources to improve this and move into her role. She’s an American Kate Middleton. Happy with the perks, couldn’t be arsed with the responsibilities.

      • noway says:

First of all she’s not American at least not by birth and probably only by marrying the orange cheeto, and sorry she’s worse than Kate Middleton.

  15. Trixie says:

I won’t even play the tiniest violin for this woman. No sympathy.

  16. olga says:

That cover… she wears so much makeup. The Daily Mail published an article about her last year with no-makeup-pictures. I wouldn’t even recognize her:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3641678/EXCLUSIVE-PHOTOS-Casual-Melania-Trump-steps-mom-no-makeup-t-shirt-hours-glamorous-night-Donald-son-Barron.html

    • Llamas says:

She looks completely different! She’s probably prettier without all the makeup and her eyes seemed to look a lot different.

  17. Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

Lie down with the devil…wake up in hell.

Serious question – Does anyone else find it odd that she took the Japanese PM’s wife to the Morikami Gardens? My guess is that Ms. Abe has seen a couple of Japanese gardens. She probably owns some that are a lot more beautiful than the Morikami. (No offense meant to the Morikami, it’s lovely.) I’m probably just feeling extra petty this morning.

  18. Ariel says:

I’d jump off that building if I had to live her life.
But marrying a rich, delusional racist was her choice.
How much is her staying in New York costing this country per day?
I hope she gets deported when her husband goes to prison.
Anyone else noticed he just used the presidency to get a business “win” in china?
    Is that treason?

  19. DavidBowie says:

She’s going to be even sadder when she has to visit his orange, bloated a$$ in prison. His impeachment can’t come soon enough.

  20. Ib says:

Do you know who else didn’t want to be FLOTUS? Michelle obama. And yet she rose to the occasion because she cared about her potential impact for helping others.

  21. Maria says:

I find the lack of duty unbelievable.

I cannot imagine any other First Lady having gotten away with basically doing nothing for the country. I understand that she might not be ready for speeches or high level stuff, but move into the WH and work on some smaller charities or what have you not.

All this money spend for her well being and security needs to be repaid with at least a minimum of effort in the position as First Lady.

    • Ariel says:

You said it so much better than I did.
      All the yes.

    • lucy2 says:

It needs to be repaid by the “billionaire” who is so awful his wife doesn’t want to be in the same state as him, but yes, I agree she also needs to be doing her job as First Lady. At the very least, hire some staff so they can deal with the White House visit requests that are piling up.

    • HappyMom says:

I agree. It’s disgusting. And the crap that Michelle Obama got from the right especially pisses me off. They’re such hypocrites.

  22. I Choose Me says:

Sad indeed. Such a shame that I can’t play the violin.

  23. Green Is Good says:

Sympathy? Really? I’ll save it for the millions of people who are losing their healthcare because the GOP has a hard on for destroying the Affordable Care Act.

  24. Hippie says:

Whenever I see photos of her, the kid and Jabba I just see a miserable unhappy family. I personally feel how very lucky I am.

  25. minx says:

Not one bit of sympathy for this spoiled golddigger.

  26. Slowsnow says:

Oooohhh this is the song + videoclip Lana del Rey will make when she’s sixty. Poor little ageing beauty trapped in a gold mansion crying tears of diamonds and washing them away with impossibly long nails while she looks at the Manhattan skyline.

  27. RussianBlueCat says:

Isn’t Donald the wealthiest man to ever be elected President? What is stopping him(besides being stubborn) from at least offering to cover some of the security costs for Melania and Barron to stay in NYC? From a public relations point of view it would look good to not have the tax payers shoulder all the costs.
Starting to think the reason he does not want to release his tax returns is he is not as wealthy as he appears to be and probably owes massive amounts to foreign lenders that has not been exposed yet.

    • doofus says:

he ISN’T as wealthy as he likes to let on. he owes billions to creditors, several of them foreign. rumors that Russian oligarchs are included in whom he owes to. no wonder Russia has him over a barrel.

      • RussianBlueCat says:

I am thinking he may owe money to countries that would make Russia look like Sesame Street. That may be the dirt Putin has on Trump.

    • KJ says:

I don’t think he’s nearly as rich as he pretends to be, and I think that’s the primary reason he won’t release his taxes. I’m sure his debts far exceed his assets.

I don’t really care where Melania lives, but I agree that if she’s not living in the White House, the Trumps should pay the majority of her security costs.

Also, it sucks that her husband had no concern about whether this was a life she wanted, but now that it’s her life, she needs to suck it up and do the job. It’s outrageous that the people’s house has been closed to the public because she couldn’t get her act together to organize the White House tours apparatus until just recently.

Also, how’s her anti-cyber bullying campaign going?

    • swak says:

He could start by NOT charging rent to house the SS at Trump towers, but he won’t. Once again, profitting from his position as president.

      • Christin says:

And this seems the most blatant violation (emoluments), what with the post office hotel, the dual properties housing government employees, etc. Yet no one seems to be pursuing it!

    • Disco Dancer says:

@Russianbluecat: it’s exactly as Madam Clinton said during the debates as to why he won’t release his tax info. But of course Emails!

  28. Mia4S says:

    Zero sympathy.

Oh and religious conservatives in the US? Why isn’t your First Lady at her husband’s side doing her wifely duties? Shouldn’t he be heading his household, you know like you’re always insisting Jesus intended? And what about that poor boy! Away from his father’s influence and guidance. I thought you said that’s not right? You know, with all those terrible single mothers running around? Why are you allowing your tax dollars to pay for a wife to avoid her husband as much as possible. Hmmmm?

    • TheOtherOne says:

      +1000

    • Christin says:

Five kids by three wives and affair(s) didn’t matter.

    • Snowflake says:

That’s what really got me the most during his campaign. Supposedly RNC is the family values party but they backed trump, a known cheater. He’s even even admitted he’s not very involved in his kids lives. Just shows how hypocritical they are. And I couldn’t believe no one called him out on his affairs but yet they dragged bill through the mud.

  29. lightpurple says:

I feel no sympathy for her. Yes, she may be in a bad marriage. Yes, he may treat her like dirt. But I see a difference here than the situations that keep so many women in abusive relationships. Donald and Melania Trump are currently living apart. Nothing is stopping her on any given Tuesday from packing her and her child’s belongings along with a sizable amount of cash from going to JFK, getting on a plane and fleeing this country and filing for divorce from Slovenia or wherever she would prefer to be.

  30. robyn says:

Just a glance at this privileged pampered former nude/model some said originally came to the US illegally to eventually marry a rich business man bully makes me feel ill.

Has she lifted a finger to help the hungry, refugees or motherless children struggling to survive in the US or war torn parts of the globe. She apparently holds the same fake belief her husband does that racism and sexism no longer exist in America. And she certainly doesn’t mind putting her own self interests first costing tax payers a bundle of money until she is ready to live in the WH.

    • Apples says:

Robyn, not to defend Melania’s life choices, but your argument is hypocritical. How many of the rest of us had lifted a finger to do all of the great and important and things you’ve pointed out here?

    • nicole says:

      robyn, I agree completly.

    • robyn says:

Apples, I suspect many here donate what little they can to aid people in dire situations and many probably also do volunteer work. Melania has more money and options to help than probably anyone here yet what has she done to help anyone but herself.

      • Apples says:

@robyn, If you personally volunteer and donate time and money on regular basis I suppose you have a right to judge. However most people just go on living their lives not really thinking about helping others. Not b/c they are bad people but b/c most people don’t think about how privileged they are compared to the rest of the world. Any white american is rich compared to someone living in a rural India village but how often does anyone donate anything on regular basis? Not very often. So I wouldn’t judge those who we think have more money b/c it’s relative.

Cry me a river, US Weekly. My heart weeps for you, Melania.

Know what else squishes a person’s dreams? Being locked into a job because of health insurance. Being told you have to carry a fetus to term. Being told every day that greed is the rule of the land.

  32. original kay says:

Let’s remember how abusive trump is to absolutely everyone.
    Abuse doesn’t have economic boundaries.

I can well imagine she is miserable with him, how could she not be. And yes, she married him and had a kid and is rich beyond belief, yet she still has to be married to him, and he still walks away from the car without even remembering she is there.

That kind of invisibility has no economic boundaries either.

As for Melania on TV supporting her husband, I have no doubt she was forced to do so. We know who he is.

The best thing to happen, for Barron, is their staying in NYC. Unfortunately that comes at too high a cost for everyone who pays for it. trump damages everything he touches.

    • lightpurple says:

The best thing that could happen, as I said above, is that while he is in DC and she is in NYC that she pack her bags and put herself and Barron on a plane out of the country.

    • bluhare says:

I agree with you. I think she’s the answer to the classic “be careful what you wish for; you might get it”. She wanted wealth and security and look at the price.

So, yes, I have sympathy for her. I have more for other people hurt by her husband, but I am sympathetic.

    • Payal says:

She could leave him at any time. This isn’t Saudi Arabia.

      • andrea says:

This isn’t Saudi Arabia but many women in North America stay in abusive relationships for various reasons. You don’t have to live in the Middle East. I honestly don’t think leaving is an option at the moment. So they lock her away in New York until she’s needed. Its sad… I know many strong, educated women who stay in unhappy and abusive relationships. Abuse comes in many forms.

I don’t think anyone should feel sorry for her, but no need to pick on her. Attack Donald Trump he’s a horrible man. I don’t need to tear down his wife. She’s just a puppet. Hopefully she teaches Barron to think for himself and not follow his father or siblings.

      • Original kay says:

        See?

Empathy and compassion are in short order everywhere.

Abuse does not know economic boundaries. Just because she has money does not mean she is free to go.
That’s what abusers do. Control. Manipulate.
It’s also why people return to their abusers.

And what? Only perfect victims of abuse need apply?

We’re supposed to be the good guys. We are supposed to be the ones who care for others.

      • WahooWah says:

Wow, that’s a very callous response. Here are some stats on domestic abuse in America.

        * 4.7 million women are abused by an intimate partner every year.

        * One out of every three women will be abused at some point in her life.

        * Financial abuse occurs within 98% of domestic abuse cases and is one of the main reasons victims stay in abusive relationships.

        * 3 women are murdered every day by a current or former intimate partner

        * About 75% of the women who are killed by an intimate partner are murdered when they attempt to leave or after they have left the relationship.

      • noway says:

Not trying to pick sides here, but other than speculation there is no proof the Cheeto abused Melania physically or mentally. Now at one point Invana said he abused her, but then she recanted. There is enough crap about him that has some verifiable facts attached to it we don’t need to add pure speculation to it.

I feel no pity, some empathy if she chose this path and doesn’t like it, but really pretty much nada. Her life doesn’t stink in her penthouse, maybe the poor mother who was deported life sucks now, not Melania’s. Just a very silly story to me. She or Ivanka need to hire a staff so at least the White House can run. This is just incompetent, but not sure what people expected.

    • Llamas says:

That was so sad. The image of the obamas walking her in with their arms around her while trump strode ahead was very poignant and telling. I’ve said this before but while I didn’t like Obama’s policies I respect the h*ll out of him and his family as people.

  33. TheOtherOne says:

Universe, let’s be clear. We want him IMPEACHED and REMOVED from office. So it is! 🙏🏾

  34. Merritt says:

I don’t feel sorry for her. There is video of her pushing her husband’s birther conspiracies. She has a lot of nerve since it has become clear there are shady and illegal things involving her own visa from before she became naturalized.

    • Disco Dancer says:

The only thing Malaria can say in proper English is, “Gimme money Doonaald!” And “Obama is a Kenyan!” No wonder she doesn’t have a social life in New York- it would require her to say more than that in English.

  35. Franny says:

I’ll save my sympathy for the taxpayers who are spending hundreds of millions of dollars a year to finance her NY lifestyle.

That money could be used for debt reduction, homeless services, foster care children, solar panels, the arts…basically anything that benefits more than one sad sack of a human being.

  36. Payal says:

Get off your bony ass, ditch your meal ticket, get a job and support yourself and your child. Millions of women do it everyday. There, problem solved!

    • marjiscott says:

Doubt that scenerio will ever happen. I could see a scandal erupting when it is uncovered that she is seeing some elegant , very wealthy man quietly ..and marries him when The Donald is in prison for treason, high crimes and misdemeanors….

    • WahooWah says:

He’d bankrupt her via legal fees in a heart beat. Divorcing a narcissist is a straight up nightmare. Yes, people do it everyday but many, many more stay in abusive relationships, especially when kids are involved.

  37. Jessica says:

She’s probably feeling sad that duties are expected of her. It’s hilarious b/c basically the Donald is experiencing the same thing. Two loafers with a limited command of the English language. Melania has a better excuse than her husband for that as a foreigner, of course. If her daily schedule hasn’t changed much, her reason for being miserable is that the ramifications of her decisions are materializing. Every gold-digger’s nightmare come true!

    • AnneC says:

Birth of my two kids, my wedding and trump impeachment. The latter will almost be as great as the two first events.

  38. Margo S. says:

When hes impeached it will literally be one of the greatest days of my life

  39. Ariana says:

People should stop treating that horrible family like celebrities!!!!
If I see one more of their faces on a magazine cover I’ll have a screaming fit

  40. Canadian Becks says:

Regarding her immigration, she was obviously allowed into the country based on her willingness to take on a job that no other American citizen was willing to do.

  41. Apples says:

I don’t think she is miserable. Uncomfortable – yes. Outside of the redneck TV the media loathes them and whatever they threw at Bush is nothing compared to what these two are going through (and who’s fault is it?). Not to mention the people protesting outside of her own house every day – how can anyone handle that with a smile?

I read an article about how Melania is a very private woman who hardly ever attends social events and mostly spends time at home, with her family. Her parents live in NY, her sister (a fashion designer) lives there too, so I’m not surprised if she never felt the need to be more social. She even said once that she had made one of her bathrooms into a private spa room to have more privacy.

So, yeah, the woman is uncomfortable alright.

    • Beth says:

If someone is a very private person, they shouldn’t marry a famous person who’s been in the public eye and news for decades. She knew he was well known and has always been known as a con man who few respect. She also used to model nude. That’s not keeping her privacy. Too late for her. She made her choices.

      • Apples says:

@Beth, many spouses of celebrities choose to stay out of limelight or appear in front of cameras very rarely. No one has a right to tell others that they should do more if they don’t want to. Even as a First Lady (a role that doesn’t really have official responsibilities per ce attached to it and allows every woman choose for themselves) Melania is not obligated to do anything she doesn’t want to. It would be nice if she did but she is not obligated.

And let me remind you no one, not even The New York Times couldn’t predict that someone like Trump will actually become a president. She married a famous guy and remained in the shadow for years just as she liked.

    • Cerys says:

I think you are right. She seems very uncomfortable with her new role. Like most of us, she probably assumed Baby Fists would not get elected and she could go back to her private life. I get the impression they lived very separate lives and were together only when necessary. the goldfish bowl of the White House will make this hard to disguise which will be adding to her discomfort.

  42. QQ says:

The Only thing I have is that The Morikami Gardens its down the street from us and maybe like my 3-4th date with my bf and it’s a really beautiful ass place

And also F*ck his Lady that The Gross man she rode on to where she’s at now

  43. Bonobochick says:

So fifth straight week of Trump family on US Weekly? Ugh

  44. HK9 says:

While Melania will forever be held up as epitome of “when gold digging goes wrong” she’s still going to get a sweet payday when she divorces El Cheeto. It’s all the others who don’t have the money or status to defend themselves against the policies that are negatively affecting their lives that I think about. I’ll save my sympathy for them.

  45. me says:

I don’t feel sorry for her. Why should I? She’s a grown ass woman who is capable of leaving him if she so chooses (his two previous wives had no problem doing so).

  46. Disco Dancer says:

Awww she’s such a snowflake! Are you sure she isn’t secretly a “libtard” at heart? A Trump feeling miserable makes me happy 😊

  47. Lolo86lf says:

I can only imagine how gross it must be to go to bed with Donald Trump. Yuck, ugh, ewww. Now in Spanish: guacala, fuchila.

  48. AnneC says:

She told us she was going to dedicate herself to eradicating cypher bullying. She really needs to check out @realdonaldtrump account and start there.

  49. Jaded says:

In a perfect world it would be Melania taking Twitler down with leaked videos or documents showing him in some horribly compromising situation with Putin or Russian intelligence. I think that’s going to be my fantasy escape from the godawful sh*tshow going on in a country I can see from my condo.

  50. Bread and Circuses says:

It may be the Secret Service’s preference that Barron to go to school without Melania.

First, Melania is more recognizeable than the boy is. He’s less likely to be a target because he’s more invisible.

Second, even among America’s enemies, murdering a child would generate backlash, whereas killing the POOTUS’s family might generate a different spin and be seen as a victory. Melania and Barron together is a more enticing target than Barron alone.

  51. Lyla says:

So she doesn’t want to do the work that comes with her position. Is ok with wasting taxpayers money. Has no social life outside of her kid, parents, and sister. America has our very own Waity Katie.

  52. adastraperaspera says:

I love the rumors of bitchy comments made about Melania by his first wife, Ivana Trump, who supposedly thinks Melania is unfit to serve as First Lady.

“Confidential reported in October that Ivana, who was married to The Donald from 1977 to 1992, had been telling friends at events around town that “(Melania) can’t talk, she can’t give a speech, she doesn’t go to events, she doesn’t (seem to) want to be involved.”

  53. Fame kills says:

Lately, Melania and the Kushners have been leaking information hinting that they are ‘different’ from Emperor Easy D and ‘suffering’ from all this. Now, Melania is trying to garner sympathy by leaking allegations of abuse and laying low? Well, I don’t buy it! All these enablers merely wanted exposure and they got it on a global scale. But while they’re benefitting from the perks of fame, their endorsement of a totalitarian nutjob will have a terrible effect on the most vulnerable people in North America; people with no money and no connections to Us magazine.

This is incredibly insulting and a waste of everyone’s time. Melania should divorce the man, get some therapy and go away if it makes her feel better. But at this point, her personal drama should be the least of our worries and she can ‘f-ck off with her pitiful magazine cover stories and her PR b-llsh-t!

  54. Jerkface says:

It’s the slutty gambit ya know? You live by the d you die by the d. I don’t judge her for being a gold digger, I judge her for not being prepared when the gig stops being fun. I’m not trying to police morals I’m just not feeling sorry for a woman who didn’t know how to play the game correctly. And if she didn’t want to be First Crazy Lady she should have put some Visine in trumps Red Bull before a few key events. She could have saved us all if she was truly an industrious ho. So shame on her lol

  55. Gloria says:

To me, it looks like this lady has been brow-beaten and emotionally suppressed by a narcissistic (and probably sociopathic) husband. I’m not sure that’s worth any amount of money and while she’s not blameless or perfect, I do feel bad for her. I feel bad for anyone who seems that miserable and hurt, $100 million apartment or no.

  56. Deeanna says:

So, what if you had your nice gold-digger’s life all in order. You have your child and your much older fat-ass husband, whom you can no longer stand is gone a lot. Leaving you to be able to lead your own lifestyle . Very discretely, of course.

Then the lard-ass fool runs for and wins the presidency. Bringing Secret Service protection agents into your life 24/7. What’s a girl to do?

Well, for starters, do NOT move into the White House, whatever you do. Then, begin a PR campaign about what a private person you are. How unprepared you are to be FLOTUS. And no matter what anyone says, including your husband, simply refuse to move. And keep refusing. If he threatens you, threaten him back.

In the meanwhile, when you want to go out while your child is at school, you simply take an elevator from your penthouse to a pre-cleared garage area, get into a vehicle – which could be a luxury van decked out to resemble a plumbing truck on the outside – and go. But you will need to be careful of what those pesky protective agents see. Or maybe not so much.

  57. Me Three says:

I think Melania probably has the most power she’s ever had in this relationship at this moment in her married life. The Donald needs her. She could take him down. Please God.

  58. Achoo! says:

What is the deal with First Lady? Genuine question, is it a paying job, is she officially an employee of the white house or is it all ‘tradition’, basically an extension of the 50’s/60’s stereotyping, that it’s the wifes job to entertain her husbands guests and business associates because she is the ‘little woman’ . If it’s so important then it should be officially acknowledged as such with a proper job description and salary and not just be seen as an accidental unpaid appendage of the POTUS’s position . It is a great opportunity to do a lot of good but basically it’s still the old ‘ wife’s place is behind her husband ‘ shtick. Jackie and Nancy being the supreme examples of the woman as window dressing for POTUS. Michelle and Barbara Bush made the job so much more but such women don’t come along very often.

    • Apples says:

There’s no official list of duties that the First Lady have to perform. It’s really up to the person married to the guy elected for the highest office in the country. She can focus on charities and give speeches every day or she can focus on her family and never be seen. Technically, Melania doesn’t have to do anything. Even hosting parties at the White House (her official residence). Ivanka or any other designated woman can.

    • Rose says:

FLOTUS is not paid. It has never been a problem before.

  59. Katie says:

Unless I missed something and she was forced at gunpoint down the aisle, she married a disgusting man because he’s filthy rich.
She’s as bad as he is.

  60. maggie grace says:

She’s not abused, sorry, sad, or misfortuate in any way. it’s clear to the entire world now, and to me, that her disgusting husband ignores her in every way, other than to f### her (maybe, if he’s able), and/ or have her on his arm. You made your bed honey; sleep in your gold brocade bed in your 100 mill apartment. She’s doing only and exactly what she wants to do.
