Jon & Kate Gosselin admit how bad things are in latest promo for show

The “Jon & Kate Plus 8” season premiere is tonight on TLC. The cable network has decided to play off all the tabloid coverage focusing on the demise of Jon and Kate Gosselin’s marriage.A new trailer for the show has been released which features the pair being photographed by paparazzi and sitting on the couch admitting how bad things are. Kate says “I will not lay down and die,” while Jon admits “I feel like I’m in prison.”

This is in contrast to a previous promotional clip for the show which featured footage of the sextuplets’ birthday party and a kind of vague statement from Jon that “Kate and I have obviously been going through some stuff.”

In the latest clip, Jon and Kate are sitting on the couch together but they’re on opposite sides, both of them crossing their legs away from each other. Their body language suggests they’d rather be anywhere else.

Kate Gosselin admits that “everything’s falling apart” in her marriage in another new clip from the May 25 premiere of their TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8.

“Everything’s falling apart,” Kate says. “I feel like the world is sitting on my shoulders.”

As seen in Thursday’s sneak peek clip, the couple of about 10 years speak to the camera separately. (In prior seasons, they give testimonials together.)

Kate added: “I will not give up. I will not lay down and die.”

The video shows Kate rushing through crowds of photographers.

Us Weekly has reported that Jon Gosselin lives in an apartment above the garage of their $1.1 million home, and had an affair with a 23-year-old. Short-tempered Kate — who fired 40 staffers in three months — has become “inseparable” from her bodyguard.

“I can’t be myself,” Jon says in a separate testimonial. “I’m not feeling so hot right now. I might as well be in prison.”

As for what’s in store this coming season?

“We’ll see what happens,” he said.

The clip, which carried the tagline, “There are two sides to every story,” urged fans to watch the fifth season premiere and see Jon and Kate face each other for the first time.

RadarOnline, which has had exclusive video interviews with Kate’s brother and sister-in-law, has a story today that both Jon and Kate are doing everything they can to cash in on their story. In Touch reported this week that Kate charges $20 for photographs of her family that she autographs at events. She makes anywhere from $3,000 to $25,000 for an appearance. The couple earns upwards of $50,000 a show, but all that isn’t enough for them. According to Radar they’re each meeting with consultants to figure out how to maximize their earnings while their family falls apart and gets picked over by the media:

A source close to the show revealed that both Jon and Kate are separately exploring more money-making ideas trading off their fame. They are actively consulting with experts for ways to rake in more cash.

Their net worth is already estimated in seven figures, with reports that they earn a minimum of $50,000 per show. There were 41 episodes of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” last season.

Other money-making ventures include books plus appearance fees and charging for autographs. “Multiple Blessings” sold approximately 500,000 copies and Kate’s new book “8 Little Faces” should get a boost from the constant publicity surrounding their marriage.

Jon and Kate may as well get the cash while they can. They paid for it with their marriage and family’s privacy.

    That’s sad stuff.

  2. mommy says:

I’m watching the old reruns of the show right now on TLC and they were nice to each other and the kids were about 4, it’s so sad to see they used to like each other. They used to be a united front, oh it’s just so sad. 🙁 I hope they pull it together and stop the show and save their marriage.

  3. jill says:

as much as i think kate treats him like crap sometimes and whatever i still feel bad that the kids and the family is going through that situation, as a child from experience with a cheating parent it sucks. and to have it televised, even though its bringing in more money the more publicity, its still awful. i feel bad for them.

My 14 year old daughter watched this show for the 1st time yesterday. I have never seen it. She told me she had never seen such a bad mom in her life. She told me that the husband never gets to talk and the everything he did was wrong according to Kate. And my kid said the saddest thing was that the little kids just didn’t get the kind of attention that they deserved. She said every conversation on the show was about Kate or Kate would turn the conversations around do they were about her.

Think about that – my 14 year old TOTALLY gets it (after watching 2 episodes) but millions of Americans watch this crap each day. That’s what they think is “normal” behavior. It makes me very sad.

  5. Ggirl says:

So they are, allegedly, consulting people to help them learn how to make more financial profit from this obvious downturn of events in their marriage but they can’t consult a professional marriage counselor? Talk about lost souls.

  6. Darya says:

They’ve got nothing left to lose, may as well try to get what they can. Putting 8 children through college will take a good chunk of change. I watched some of the Jon&Kate marathon this weekend and yes, it seems like they’re getting along but Kate also often berates Jon for something she perceives he is doing wrong. She regularly would throw him a cutting put down. I imagine after a while those criticisms and put downs eroded any feelings he may have had for her., You can see that actually with each new season, how he gets closer to a breaking point and how she destroys their marriage with those comments.

  7. Ggirl says:

I am sorry folks but I have to weigh in on one last thing concerning Woody Woodpecker and her lame husband. My husband would tell me to calm down that Jon & Kate is just a TV show, but the situation with the kids really bothers me. That picture of her sitting on her pink motorcycle with that spoiled indulged look on her bratty face makes me ill. Glad that TLC is lapping up an increase in their ratings for this cluster f*ck of a show. To begin with, viewers watched because this “family” had challenges raising so many children of the same age. Now we aren’t even watching a family. What is a word that describes two money hungry adults that are using their children as little sacrifices to support their lifestyle at the expense of a stable home environment for their children?

  8. Lucy says:

I heard you can read 8 Little Faces at the store in about five minutes.

  9. mandi says:

Helments, where are everyone’s helments in the pictures?

  10. ! says:

Ugh, somehow without even reading the caption, I so knew that scooter had to be from some other reality show rejects. American Chopper is always happy to step up!

  11. just a poster says:

Okay don’t throw stones, I have never really watched the show, but Jon kinda gives off the ‘ I only help for show’ vibe.

And with all of those kids, she in a way almost has to become super bitch just to keep things running. And for all we know, he could have been cheating the whole time. Maybe that is why she is so bitchy. And lets not forget editing.. they can do wonders with that.

I also feel like she does deserve some credit, the college is paid for for all of those kiddos.

  12. daisyfly says:

“I will not lay down and die”

WTF? Does she think she’s in a Barbara Mitchell novel? Good Lord!

  13. boomchakaboom says:

She doesn’t have to lay down and die, she could just STFU every now and then.

  14. the original kate says:

“I also feel like she does deserve some credit, the college is paid for for all of those kiddos.”

yeah, they deserve the parents of the year award for whoring out their kids for money. yay! i hope they also managed to save money for the therapy those kids are going to need in about 20 years.

  15. crazymary says:

Is college paid for for the kids or are folks just assuming that because they are on TV? Real question here. I don’t know anything about that.

  16. gg says:

One hopes she gets a normal hairdo SOON – I’m so sick of seeing that abominable barnet gone wrong.

  17. Zoe says:

::“I also feel like she does deserve some credit, the college is paid for for all of those kiddos.”::

I can’t believe people are still in denial about this. If Jon and Kate really cared about their children’s college education fund, would she be spending hundreds of dollars on a high maintenance haircut and makeovers? Would they be dining at five star celebrity restaurants when visiting LA or NYC? Would Jon be buying his new sports car??? PLEASE. These are not the actions of people saving up anything. Those kids will NOT have any money to show for all THEIR hard work and what they have sacrificed which none of them asked for. In five years, it’ll all be gone. And would parents concerned about money QUIT their jobs and live exclusively off their children? Wake up and smell reality, people. Jon and Kate are out for themselves and their own selfish lives, regardless of what they want you to believe. Guess those kids are just going to have to get grants and scholarships like EVERY OTHER KID who doesn’t have a mommy and daddy to pay for their lifestyles. If you can’t afford it, don’t have 8 kids. There are plenty of families out there even larger who are finding legitimate means to raise their children. Money and fame do NOT bring happiness. Privacy does, something those kids have never known. Enough of all these people talking about how they have nothing else to lose and might as well cash in. They have already lost just about everything, and it’s because they were concerned with cashing in and not acting like human beings. They don’t deserve anything. There are tons of WORKING parents out there who deserve far more than these parasites are getting. Those poor children deserve so much more.

  18. HolyMoly says:

I’ve watched this show and I think they really love their kids…alot. TV is just the WORST possible place to live out your life, the pressure of everyone knowing yr business alone would make many marriages crack, it does not mean they are awful people. I don’t think they knew REALLY REALLY knew what they were getting into when they decided to do it, they just needed to make ends meet and thought “why not?”. They didn’t have 6 babies at the same time for the sole purpose of “whoring them out” …. for God’s sake. That being said she treats him like crap, and never admits she is wrong…

  19. Alison C says:

Leave Jon and Kate alone!!!!!!!! No one here knows anything about them!!!!!!!!!!! You just see a T.V. show. En serio, dejenlos!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Rhonda Phoenix says:

I have watched you from the very beginning. I only had a set of identical twins and I was exhausted. I know how hard it is but NOT with that many kids. Kate may be a bit bitchy – but sometimes that’s how you get things done. It can’t even imagine how organized you have to be with that brood. They have addressed that several times and it makes sense. It’s busy! As for them possibly breaking up – I am saddened beyond sad. My husband left when my twins were three and altho it was a good thing for us – my children lost their father. He wouldn’t work on it and had already set up shop with another married woman. If anyone should try to make it work for these kids you should! Jon – Kate – what about your mission statement? What about the promises. Go to marriage counselling, find a common ground with each other, forgive, move on and if you have to…stop the show and try to live that dream life that you BOTH so often spoke about. These children (and your marriage) deserve that. You have gone through so much (quoted by both of you) already. You can weather this storm as well. Don’t give up Jon! You are such a great man and Kate – you are a great lady! Believe again in the dream and you will be able to live it together with your 8 children.

  21. Amy says:

I don’t know why people are assuming that the quotes are about their marriage. They could very easily be talking about the tabloids and the extra media attention. TLC is obviously taking advantage of the attention Jon and Kate are getting. They are promoting the episode as they are breaking up but it could turnout to be the complete opposite.

  22. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

I cannot believe people are actually justifying how she acts with this argument that you have to be a b*tch to get things done.

Think about this: if the husband were a total *ss to the wife the way Kate is to Jon, would you hear people saying “well, he has to be that way to her to get anything done.”

People would FREAK out. But apparently it’s ok if a woman treats her husband like crap.

Such a weird world. How about this radical idea? How about both ADULTS treat each other with RESPECT? God. Men aren’t little children. And women don’t get a free pass to be a verbally abusive b*tch. Let’s expect more from BOTH sexes, ok?

  23. brista says:

Well, all I can say is that the episode promos a few months ago tried the same angle. They played it up like the episode would be about J&K splitting or fighting or something. There were clips of Kate snapping from past episodes and random quotes from J&K about big decisions and things like that.

Then when I watched the episode, it was about (I think!) the kids going to the museum, then at the very, very, very end, during the last minute and a half, there’s an interview with J&K that is actually about whether or not the family will continue doing the show. Nothing at all like what the previews implied. So given that, I don’t know if the new episode will actually have anything at all to do with J&K and the tabloids/affairs/etc.

  24. karen says:

I had a husband that belittled me like Kate does to Jon, and I put up with it for 13 years for my kids. Believe me, after that many years, my kids finally said it was time to stop taking the abuse. It was hard for me to forget all the putdowns and even try to make it work. As much as I would like to see the family stay together, I have my doubts that he can forget all the abuse, and the children won’t forget it either……

  25. DD says:

I can’t watch this reality show, especially now. Watching the destruction of a real family just seems like all kinds of wrong.

  26. Cinderella says:

    Amen, DD and Ggirl.

I’m not sure where dignity lies in showing America the collapse of your family (while getting paid, of course).

  27. ashley says:

you got to think though that a 14 year old does not know what its like to be an adult. there are 8 kids of course there is not gonna be personal one on one time. she is the working parent he quit his job. i am sure there is some resment there. shes not a witch like everyone suggests. and i cant believe your gonna let your 14 year old watch this when there are adult problems comming into play now.

  28. amazingrace says:

I saw the episode today!! And I was soooooo mad. Kate is not a saint.. she makes Jon out to be a SELFISH person. Let’s face it, It takes two. Think about all the freebies they received, not to mention all the money they have made…on this show. I just can’t see how she is always so exhausted. Are you kidding with all the help they have. I’m sorry but read between the lines. They can’t stand being in the same room together. How can they continue on this path. Everyone knows it’s all a farce. I will say this last final thing. I do believe they love their children!! Why can’t they think of their children and end this with some Dignity!

  29. Ana says:

Is it me or does she seem like she got a boob job?
I thought she already had college funds set up for her kids. Maybe I’m wrong but I thought they were donated. But then again, those weren’t listed in the US weekly article that detailed all the freebies.
I think the money will be gone before they know it. She does seem to spend a lot of money on herself and her appearance.
She has a fake tan, expensive hair cut, she shops at Ann Taylor Loft (which isn’t that expensive to some but it is to me. Then again I wear $5.00 shirts on sale from Old Navy.)

  30. Ana says:

Oh and it’s time for her to quit wearing above the knee skirts. Those knees are looking horrible.

  31. ilovej&k+8 says:

I responding especially to crazymary.. Ur so stupid passing judgment on someone that you don’t know. Ur daughter just watched the show and already you assume she is a bad mother. How dumb can you be? When was the last time you had to birth and feed 8 kids? hmm. It takes alot out of her to take care of her family and herself. If you had bothered to watch the show you would understand. “Having two sets of multiples doesn’t always bring out the best in us, its a crazy life, but its our life.” So shut ur trap crazymary and mind ur own business.

  32. Ana says:

ilovej&k+8. This is CeleBITCHY. Not the Jon and Kate plus 8 fan club. If you want us to sit around and talk about how the sun shines out of Kate’s ass then you’ve got another thing coming. We come here to voice our opinions and while you’re entitled to yours there is no room for name calling just because you don’t agree with someone else.

Let me show you how bitchy it can get around here:

“I responding especially to crazymary.. ” See anything wrong there?

“Ur so stupid passing judgment on someone that you don’t know.” This made me laugh. Do you not realize that is what you just did? Pot. Kettle. Black.

“When was the last time you had to birth and feed 8 kids?” Not everyone decides to have more kids than they can handle. It’s not like she accidently got pregnant. They knew about the possibility of multiples. But they decided to go through with the fertility treatments anyway. There are plenty of families that have 8 (or more) kids that manage on their own. No sympathy there.

“It takes alot out of her to take care of her family and herself.” I’m sure it does. It takes a lot of work to run around acting like you’re doing everything yourself. She has nannies and supposedly a personal chef. A woman that folds her laundry and another that puts it away, for FREE. She is gone many months out of the year promoting the show and her books. Leaving her 8 children and husband at home.

Before you start calling people “dumb” and “stupid” maybe you should “mind your own business.”

  33. Magsy says:

I like Kate about as much as I like Amy Roloff on “Little People Big World.” They give moms a bad name, not all of us moms are criticizing, demasculating, control freak, perfectionists. I say get rid of the parents and just show more of the kids.

  34. Ironhead says:

She doesn’t have to lay down and die…I’d be happy if she’d just lay down and let those guys from American Chopper roll over her a few dozen times…

  35. Sorry but this whole thing is just sick!! I watched the show in the beginning and as the show progressed it got very sad. Kate treats her husband john like a dog, constantly yelling and belittling him. i truly think all of this has gone to her head, you can see such a change in her appearance and the way she carries herself Many time s they have referred to having this footage as a family album of sorts, sorry but she should be ashamed to have this stuff available for them to see in the future. I think it is very sad that america is so interested in watching this train wreck!
