Emma Watson & Amanda Seyfried threaten site which published private photos

Sometimes I really feel sorry for celebrities, like when they get bombarded with idiocy on social media or when their personal photos are stolen and distributed. Remember when dozens of female celebrities’ personal photos were hacked and stolen in 2014 and posted online? That was called The Fappening, a really stupid name for such a gross violation of privacy, and the man deemed responsible for the hack received 18 months in prison. Another celebrity hacker, who attempted to gain access to account dating in another separate phishing scheme, was also convicted and received nine months in prison. So there are consequences to hacking and leaking data, although unfortunately one of the main sites distributing the photos, CelebJihad, is still doing it. Both Emma Watson and Amanda Seyfried have had their personal photos leaked on that site, and both have sent legal letters to the owner demanding that they be taken down. The damage has since been done though. I don’t want to get too much into this but I’ll include a little below.

Emma Watson is taking legal action after dozens of private images of her appeared online.

A spokesman for the Beauty and the Beast star confirmed the pictures – which show her trying on various outfits – were stolen.

“Photos from a clothes fitting Emma had with a stylist a couple of years ago have been stolen,” her publicist said.

“They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further.” – From BBC

Amanda Seyfried’s legal team is going after a site that posted her nude photos…

The actress’s lawyer fired off a threatening letter to Celeb Jihad, demanding they immediately take down the images that were meant to be private. The letter states the pics were illegally obtained by a third party, and leaked to the site without Amanda’s consent.

Amanda’s legal team wants the site to preserve any evidence related to the leak, most likely for future litigation.

The leak, dubbed Fappening 2.0, allegedly includes pics of many other celebs, including Emma Watson, whose rep says her lawyers are already on the case. – From TMZ

Seyfried is very pregnant right now and she doesn’t need this stress. Watson doesn’t either. I also don’t agree with the press including details about the photos because people don’t need to know that. It’s a crime and explaining the extent of it only shames the victims unnecessarily. I hope that the people who committed these crimes, and distributed the photos, get the book thrown at them and serve jail time. Maybe if enough of these creeps are prosecuted others will think twice before doing this. Also, if anyone is going to comment about how they shouldn’t take nude photos – you shouldn’t have a phone/flat screen tv/computer/video game system/watch/diamond ring if you don’t want it stolen, right? This blaming the victim sh-t needs to stop.

Yea this is vile and Mischa Barton also has some images and videos being shopped around as revenge porn. Turns my stomach. I remember the first hack I had to avoid twitter tags just to avoid seeing anything accidentally (as to not further the photos) and I’m glad that guy was caught. But like the previous time I cannot imagine how violating this is. On top of that there’s millions of people that will shame and circulate these photos. ugh

    • Snowflake says:

Yes and people are commenting that she knew or shouldn’t have done a sex video. And she didn’t know about it!

  2. gene123 says:

This is beyond disgusting. Every time stories like this come out I get sick to my stomach.

  3. Nn says:

Justin Long was also a victim of hacking. There were nudes of him too, not just Emma and Amanda.

    • INeedANap says:

But men are not shamed the way women are. Men with nudes get a shrug, the way Justin Verlander’s d!ck pics were ignored in the last batch.

That some men consider stolen nudes of a woman as a way to shame her is disgusting. The whole culture needs to change.

      • Lucy2 says:

Men and women are definitely treated differently in these situations, but I feel bad for anyone it happens to. It’s such a violation.

  4. Veronica says:

Speaks volumes that it’s rarely male celebrity photos being leaked, yeah?

  5. Zapp Brannigan says:

Who are these hackers that feel they are entitled to take private items and post them about the place, just because you saw an actress, model, whatever in a movie or on tv does not make you entitled to them, it is frightening to think how these people operate in the real world.

  6. Lucy says:

Ugh. Again. This is just wrong. The people who leak the pictures are the only ones at fault, and that’s a fact. Period.

    Celeb Jihad??? WTF?

This is all around disgusting. I’m so paranoid when it comes to pictures of me, even my Instagram only shows (boring) food, landscapes or the occasional new pair of shoes. I’d love to have more fun with it but when you see sh*t like this … ugh. I’m glad someone went to prison for that 2014 leak, btw. I didn’t know.

    • INeedANap says:

Until someone hacks into your tv or webcam or phone cam, or some guy you are dating waits for you to sleep, and takes pictures of you without your knowledge or consent. The fact that there is such hunger for these photos, and shame and insults that follow, is the underlying problem.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Until? I don’t understand your first sentence in response to what I wrote?

I didn’t say this can’t happen to me, if that’s what you’re implying. The underlying problem you mention is the reason I’m so paranoid.

  8. Aims says:

This is a violation . You have the right to privacy. I really don’t want to hear,” they shouldn’t have done the pictures . ” No, the person who hacked personal information is the criminal , not the victims .

    • Tulip says:

@Aims. THIS! THANK-YOU! I hear that line so many times when the subject comes up, and getting people (especially women) to live even more conservative, restrictive lives is a bullsh-t answer!

  9. OhDear says:

Gross (the hacking and posting, that is).

  10. Ann says:

    Hate crime against women.

  11. Fanny says:

Emma Watson didn’t even take nude pictures. She just took some clothed pictures with a stylist for work purposes. Blaming her is saying that no woman can take any pictures with her phone ever, unless she is prepared for the whole world to see them.

People should think about the relationship they have with their own phones and how they would feel if some stranger thought they had a right to plunder the contents of it and share it with the world.

  12. detritus says:

This is sexual abuse, and it needs harder laws.

I will never forget Reteah Parsons.

    • Tulip says:

That was a horrible heartbreaking story. Vicious doesn’t even begin to describe it.

  13. Jess says:

What a disgusting breach of privacy. I don’t care how famous someone is, this is simply a crime.

On an unrelated note, Finn is one of the cutest dogs ever. šŸ¶

  14. courtney says:

it’s disgusting that those hackers did this now when it could have negative affects on the child Seyfried is expecting later this spring. stress is linked to premature birth low birth weight and even neonatal death if something happened to Seyfried’s son she accidentally revealed she and her fiance Thomas Sadoski are expecting a boy in a W Magazine interview done to promote Givenchy’s new fragrance Live Irresistible Delicious on December 2nd 2016 the press wouldn’t give them the privacy necessary to grieve

  15. Lisa says:

Ugh and with all of this happening, add the fact that we can’t even warm up our soup in the microwave anymore without being watched and photographed.
