FBI Director James Comey: the FBI has been investigating Trump since July

Yesterday was a huge day for political stuff. It was the first day of Neil Gorsuch’s SCOTUS confirmation hearings, which would have been huge in and of itself, especially since we’ve learned that (shock of shocks) a Republican Supreme Court nominee has issues with women. Apparently, Gorsuch believes women have fewer rights than corporations. Sure. But no, Gorsuch’s first day of Senate confirmation hearings barely made a blip on cable news, because at the same time, FBI Director James Comey was testifying before the House Intelligence Committee about Emperor Baby Fists’ ties to Russia. Here’s what we learned throughout the day:

Russia hacked the election. Comey confirmed that Russia “meddled” in the election. Derp.

The FBI has been investigating Trump & his people for a while. Apparently, the FBI ramped up their investigation months before Election Day. Comey said that starting in July 2016 – likely around the time of the Republican National Convention – the FBI was investigating the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

Comey says Trump is lying about the Trump Tower wire-tap. Yeah, obviously, Obama did not authorize a wiretap on Trump Tower. Comey says there is simply no evidence to suggest that.

Comey said words about ongoing investigations. As in, Comey was limited by the “ongoing investigation” as to what details he could and could not reveal about Easy D. And yet he pranced around just weeks before Election Day, confirming that the FBI was reopening the investigation into Hillary Clinton?

Republicans care more about “leakers” than traitors. Too many Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee were trying to make the hearing about “WHO IS LEAKING?” Comey just kind of brushed it off. I’ll admit that I’m squirmish about high-level security-clearance officials leaking information to the media too, but that’s not my biggest f–king concern, you know? My biggest concern is that a hostile third-party has infiltrated the highest levels of the American government.

The Baby Fists Administration is flailing. Like, Baby Fists’ approval ratings are at a historic new low and Trump’s people are already doing “war rooms” to combat the avalanche of bad press. Sean Spicer’s White House briefing yesterday was a g–damn circus, with Spicer claiming that the media needed to write more stories about Hillary Clinton’s Russian connections (???!?!?!). Spicer also claimed that Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman who quit after his shady connections to Russia were revealed, had a “very limited role” in the campaign. Which started the hashtag #VeryLimitedRole

The official POTUS Twitter is Orwellian. Alternative facts abound. While I expect that from Trump’s personal Twitter, the idea that they’re now using the POTUS Twitter to literally lie their asses off is… interesting.

Paul Ryan is too busy trying to bankrupt and kill us all to be bothered with any of this treason stuff. But don’t worry, Ivanka is getting security clearances and an office and a government phone all at our expense so she can insert her plastic self in meetings on issues like North Korea and ISIS, because she is such an expert.

    • original kay says:

I read it more she needs to be there to control her father. Maybe, who knows?

      • Jenns says:

I think she sits in on these meetings so she can help explain things to him.

      • original kay says:

great point. I bet that’s it, she has to take notes and explain it all.

      • Lightpurple says:

I don’t think she is making any effort to control him. His people see nothing wrong with his erratic behavior. She is there to maximize Trump profits. People are giving her way too much credit. She is as unethical as he is.

      • swak says:

If she is going to control him, then she needs to be around him 24/7 because most of his tweets happen at 3 in the morning!

      • Keaton says:

I think that’s it exacly @Jenns. In fact, I think that’s the whole reason Jared Kushner is around: He both “calms” Trumpy and he does all the reading and note taking for him because the lazy short fingered vulgarian is too lazy to do it himself. Jared & Ivanka are part glorified assistants and part babysitters.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, light purple. This is about the Trump Organization getting more profit.

      • DystopianDance says:

Ivanka is there to distract from Melania’s sould that left her body long ago. Back to the real sh*t.. Why in TF didn’t Comey come out with this investigation when it could have actually helped americans- before the election!!??

    • original kay says:

oh sorry, it’s you, didn’t realize who I responded to. Just ignore my post, your feelings for me were made quite clear!

      good day to you LP!

      • Lightpurple says:

I made it clear that I did not appreciate the insults you sent my way. I made no expression of any feelings to you.

      • original kay says:

Please show me exactly where I insulted you, copy and paste, so I can apologize profusely.

As I recall, you accused me of screaming at people.

Actually, never mind. I’ve got your number, and will avoid your comments from now on. Please do the same, unless of course you need to go off the rails again and have some crying jag bitch fest at my expense.

    • Lolo86lf says:

Ryan is trying to kill the poor and the elderly first. To the GOP those two groups are a burden to society.

      • lem says:

        and yet, their strongest supporters….

      • BTownGirl says:

@Lolo86lf and @lem – You both speak hot truth!! I assume they keep supporting the GOP because they keep buying what the GOP is selling, i.e. a nonsensical fever dream where all of us (well, actually, white people only – obvi) are magically transported back to the supposedly ideal 1950s.

    • lavnbb says:

Hillary was right about Putin’s puppet-Trump and right about Comey.

    • mary mary says:

#Political Barbie comes with government office, security clearances and a real phone.

  2. Jamie says:

The hearing was riveting. I only saw about 90 minutes of it, but it’s worth finding online.

    • Tate says:

I sat in my car and listened at lunch time. I didn’t intend to but once I started I couldn’t stop.

    • original kay says:

It was well worth watching all of it, the clips don’t do it justice. You miss everyone getting it all on record, tying the noose tighter, as it were, around the trump administration.

It was heartwarming to listen to them connect it all, on record! wheee!

      • Megan says:

I listened to the entire hearing. There were many “holy crap” moments. But at the end, seemingly out of nowhere, Nunes asked Comey if Kellyanne Conway was under investigation for ties to Russia. Didn’t realize she was a suspect as well.

    • smcollins says:

So true. I usually find these things tedious and boring (and don’t usually tune in), but this one, I couldn’t look away. Please, pleeeeaaaaase let this be the beginning of Trump’s downfall (or should I say “official” beginning?) and his entire corrupt administration.

    • Nicole says:

It was fascinating. He was denying trump’s tweets in real time. When has that ever happened?!
Comey is an idiot and the fact that he had an investigation that he never talked about but the emails!! Ugh.
It’s official. This is the end of the Us republic

    • SusanneToo says:

I watched the whole hearing. The Repubs were busy decrying leaks and making threats toward leakers and journalists. The Dems countered with facts and pertinent questions, getting everything on the official record.

      • Christin says:

Maybe this is light at the end of a long tunnel. This is truly history in the making. We’ll see who ends up on the right side of it.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

But if The FBI was investigating Trump & associates clear back in July–and for something extremely serious and possibly even treasonable–why the hell didn’t Comey announce THAT when he announced the investigation into Hillary’s emails just days before the election?!?

      • meow says:

ding ding ding, lahdidahbaby! where the hell was this information?? the hypocrisy is killing me!

  3. nemera77 says:

I can’t muster much respect for Comey after the Hillary hit job. And it was a hit job. That being said I appreciate that Trump is being investigated to some degree. His ties to Russia are scary. And the fact that the Republican that are so PRO AMERICA seems to be tucking in their tails and taking it up the butt. It angers me so much how they are trying to protect this horrible man. Shame on them. Shame on them for not actually putting the Country first but their party. I hope they all go down as hard as possible. It took over 2 years for the Watergate Crimes to come to full. Trump has only been in office for less than 60 days. and look at what is going on. There is so much more dirt to be found. We have an amoral creep in office. And he is using is position to hurt this country.

    • Snowflake says:

Yes it was a hit job. And the effed up part is now Trumpeters are saying Comey is a Hillary ally! Lol

      • Esmom says:

Yeah, I need to find a way to avoid the Trumpeters/deplorables because every revelation like this, which should give me hope that Trump’s impeachment is near, makes me want to tear my hair out when I see how his supporters are twisting things to justify their support. Yesterday it was “Russia interfered in our election…of course, all governments interfere in other elections, nothing to see here.” Grr.

    • lavnbb says:

Exactly Comey was complicit with what was going on. He should go down with Trump.
What will probably happen is more people will start talking to save their own necks from eventual prosecution and thereby sink Trump’s whole Presidency.

Hillary was right about everything she said about Putin wanting Trump , because Trump would be a Putin Puppet and play ball with him and Putin using WikiLeaks to drive a wedge. I feel bad for Hillary in all this.

All these men worked overtime to undermine a Election regardless of which was it was going. A Foreign adversary or Foreign corrupt power has no business in US elections.

I hope Trump goes down, IMPEACH. We need bipartisan investigation into all of it, NOT just Comey and GOP.
      impeach Trump.
I hope we are holding hearings into Impeachment by this Summer or Fall.

      • Saras says:

Hoping Comey helped Trump get in on purpose to take the whole group down. That is a lot of money which would be seized from Russia and rich Trump appointees plus assets for our government. Plus Comey would be the greatest FBI agent in history if he sinks these folks. I can only hope it’s true or I am naive and we are truly screwed!

    • Kitten says:

Can we get a #Hillarywasright hashtag going on Twitter or is that already a thing?

      • lavnbb says:

I saw a few. It really needs to be repeated and often. #Hillarywasright .
Almost everything she said about Trump and Putin and Comey is coming true.

        I hope he gets impeached!

    • Odette says:

Well, we may want to be a little careful with the assumption that it was all Comey who ordered “the hit” on Hillary. In some circles, there are whispers that he got trapped in a legal loophole, had no other option, and was pissed that his hands were tied by the NY FBI because of certain checks and balances in the IC. And again, since different situations call for different responses, he was (some folks are saying), basically, forced. That’s why he spent 24-7 in the days following clearing her name — which he did — but it was too late.

To be clear, I am NOT a Trumper. I voted for Hillary and think the leak did her in — for sure. I’m devastated by our country. I just also think there was some really shady manipulating involved in the Comey / Weiner / Clinton / Laptop situation.

    • isabelle says:

Republicans, every single one deserve to be voted out. Ignoring probable traitorous actions to accuse newspapers of illegally taking information, aka reporting. They are seriously trying to attack newspapers and print media. They act like buffoons that hate America.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I’m upset that he wasn’t forced to clarify why, when both candidates/campaigns were being investigated, did they only release information about Clinton’s investigation prior to the election.

      • Odette says:

The problem is that so much of what they do must remain secret.

      • Lacia Can says:

I like HRC. Until Comey dropped his bombshell, I was sure she was going to win; even after, I still believed she would win. Unfortunately, she didn’t. Maybe the Dems needed to use their limited time to draw the noose around 45, rather than protect HRC. Especially since they likely knew the Rs we’re going to use their own time to talk about leaks. I watched CNN last night, and Schiff made it clear that he didn’t buy Comey’s explanation. So there is that.

    • cathy says:

He should have announced that they were BOTH under investigation. How does he explain this? It’s BS.

      • JRenee says:

Or said nothing. I refuse to trust this investigation.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

That’s what I’m wondering too. Why is he just saying this now, if it’s been going on since July? Why not bring it up before the elections were over just like he did with Hillary?

  4. Megan says:

Message to Trump … Comey also refused to deny the FBI is investigating you.

  5. Froma says:

What a time to be alive! ✨😕

  6. original kay says:

Watched it all, very interesting info came from it, and the committee did an excellent job getting all the information on record.

I hope this is the (new) beginning of the end.

    • original kay says:

No wait! my favourite part was when (I forget who, sorry) said that trump fights with everyone on twitter, even the cast of Hamilton, everyone except russia and putin, who he goes out of his way to be kind to!

      That’s was awesome! wheeee!

      • Esmom says:

Oh wow, I didn’t hear that. That is awesome. His effed up tweeting may very well be his downfall.

      • original kay says:

YES! I was a great moment. There was a list said of all the people trump fights with, then the bang! of the fact that trump has never spoken a word about putin and has gone out of his way to be nice, more or less.

there were many great moments like that. It was kind of like reading a Richard North Patterson novel, though scary because it was real. I just mean the set up, the questions where you realize the point of them, how they cast the nest and got it all on record.

    • original kay says:

I liked the General guy better than comey. He looked like he was over the whole thing and had no shits to give about trump. He looked half asleep at times, and not at all polished like comey, who did good (imo) but still played the role. you know?

BUT, did it look to anyone else that at times comey fed him answers? I saw comey shake his head when the general was asked a question, and then the general said no.

      Is that normal for this?

      • Lightpurple says:

They have to confer on what they can and cannot release in a public forum due to clearance levels and national security.

      • nicole says:

I have to say I find Comey to be a very attractive man, I know he seems a bit two faced, but I still think he will bring Trump and his cohorts down. I have to say I love watching Don Lemon on CNN, he just cant stop laughing at the whole thing and I cant beleive that Trump voters still think he is so great, they spoke to them at his rally in Kentucky last night, and they still think he is doing a great job, and dont care about the Russia ties, they all seem so stupid a nd brainwashed, what will it take for these people to wake up and see what a conman he is.

    • smcollins says:

“I hope this is the (new) beginning of the end.”

Lol, I posted something similar before I saw this. Let’s hope this is the case!

    • Lisa says:

Wasn’t it Sen. Adam Schiff from New York. He had some great probing questions and came across as very smart.

      • Kitten says:

        Schiff is California, not NY.

      • Lightpurple says:

And he is a representative, not a Senator. Schiff is pushing hard for full investigations with a special prosecutor and he is not going to back down. Nunes is trying to distract and hide stuff, he worked on Trump’s campaign and transition. Nunes wants to bury the truth about Trump; Schiff wants to bury Trump

      • Cran says:

        @Lisa
Yes that was Schiff. He was extremely well prepared. He made it clear in his opening statement that he didn’t expect much from this committee. He pointed to its limits in terms of manpower and resources without pointing fingers. His comments put into the record the aims and purpose of these hearings. Overall I thought the Democrats questions whether they were answered or not put a great deal into the official record.

I was particularly incensed with Gowdy as he repeatedly refused to mention Flynns name even when obviously referencing him but had zero f–ks to give as he did this:
        ,
“But Obama wasn’t the only one. Gowdy also rattled down a list of people who had held high-ranking positions in the Obama administrationor were heads of government agencies and asked whether each would have had access to the “unmasked” name. He included former director of national intelligence James Clapper, former CIA director John Brennan, former national security adviser Susan Rice, former White House adviser Ben Rhodes, former attorney general Loretta Lynch and former deputy attorney general Sally Yates.”

He placed these names into the record as he pressed for names of people who would have had access to and leaked confidential information used in articles from NYT and WaPo.

I felt that Republicans were focused on FISA with a goal of ending or weakening it, delegitimizing/persecuting the press with a goal of handcuffing our free press, putting these names into the record with a goal towards making them targets for prosecution/persecution. Just in general using this committee as a means of persecution.

This committee needs to address the FACT that our country has been attacked. The Russian government committed an act of war. It is continuing in its behavior and like it or not there are people in our current administration who are acting on its behalf. In addition there are people in our current government who are using this moment to profit, be it financially or politically. That doesn’t make these people Russian agents but it does make them people who place self or ideology or party above people and country.

        THAT IS NOT OKAY.

      • Lightpurple says:

@Cran, all great points. A major problem here is the committee is chaired by Nunes, a very loud and proud Trumpet. And Gowdu just needs to go and take Benghazi with him

      • Keaton says:

I was so annoyed by Gowdy and the rest of the GOP @Cran. They are such partisan hacks.
        Someone on twitter said (paraphrasing):
Pretty sure the Republicans think the big villain of Watergate is Deep Throat.

Disgusting. Everyday they prove they care more about their stupid awful agenda to privatize social security and slash tax rates than they care about our country.

      • nicole says:

Yes he is doing a really good job, he knows Trump is as crooked as they come, they just have to keep going at this, the only thing is what if this turns out to be nothing at all, what will the Democrats do then, they will be made to look really bad by the Republicans is my thought, but I just hope this will be serious and that there was collusion between Trump and Russia, but who knows, there still isnt any real solid proof yet, is there?

  7. aquarius64 says:

Comey may have supeonaed Trump’s complete tax returns during his investigation and the Republicans voted to not have them released to the public. If the returns show crooked business ties to Russia and clear conflict of interest the GOP will be seen as using their position to cover up possible crimes by Trump.

    • lavnbb says:

. Comey was involved in this cover up and hiding, he needs to go to.

      • B n A fn says:

The thing is, we know who Comey is. We have no idea which one of DT’s deplorable friend he will put in charge of the investigation to sweep it under the rug. DT is a liar and cannot be trusted. Im willing to take my chances with Comey, hope he learned his lesson with the way he treated Hillary. I hope he took responsibility for helping DT to the presidency.

  8. Jenns says:

My theory is that Paul Ryan and company hated Obama so much that they want to kill Obamacare more than anything. And they are using Trump to get that done. It will be really interesting to see what happens on Thursday with the healthcare bill. If it implodes, and it looks like it might, I think Republicans could turn on each other and on Trump. Because you know Trump will put the blame on everyone but himself.

    • RussianBlueCat says:

Trump has no filter, when he decides to lash out at the “haters” in the Republican Party it is going to be nasty. If he sees himself being made a scapegoat, Trump will drag others down with him.

      • nicole says:

Trump has already said on Twitter, that if the new health care plan goes down the tubes, the Republican party will go down with it, he doesnt mention himself at all, of course he will blame them if it isnt a success, he is all for himself.

    • Kitten says:

IDK. Republicans always seem to unite and close ranks in the face of public scrutiny.
More likely the blame will be laid squarely on the shoulders of Obama and the Democrats, perhaps even Hillary because why the f*ck not?

      • Beth says:

They’ll definitely find a way to blame Obama or even Hillary. Trump and Kellyann start all bad news with “Obama did it” or “Hillary said”.

    • Lightpurple says:

Trump and Bannon are already using Breitbart to go after Ryan

    • MrsBadBob says:

This is much worse than Watergate, and it won’t go away. Everyone of these fools are going to fry for the terrible choices they are making in these political power grabs. This is treason, conducted by some of the most inept clowns imaginable, it will get ugly and many reputations and careers are going to be destroyed.

  9. RussianBlueCat says:

Did anyone hear how the US is now ordering airlines that fly from some Middle East/North African countries to the United States to tell passengers to put all laptops/tablets into checked luggage? Only smartphones or cellphones will be allowed into the cabin. I wonder if this is another diversion tactic away from the Russa/Trump mess? Interesting how this is coming out now….

    • Beth says:

Yes. I heard it on CNN. But Trump let us know they only tell lies! It’s definitely interesting it’s coming out now. I wonder what the hell will be next

  10. grabbyhands says:

While it was indeed a pleasure to see 45 be humiliated in real time as they live checked his tweets and announced they were lies, the bottom line is-Comey has been sitting on this info since before the election and decided to do a hatchet job on Clinton instead of where he knew actual evidence of wrongdoing existed. And now we’re here.

And while the republicans are more intent on finding out who committed the leaks rather than what the leaks reveal-no one is going anywhere, Presumably way more people are involved than just Babyfists and his cronies, so no one is going to get investigated until they have completely covered their tracks. Right now he is still serving a purpose.

    • Esmom says:

Yes I really don’t get why Comey chose to reveal the innocuous Hillary email stuff yet sat on this. Does not look good at all.

      • Megan says:

No, it does not look good. That is why I do not trust Comey. Yesterday looked good, but I want action. And I want to know the truth.

      • MrsBadBob says:

Comey is a piece of crap. He is only talking now because he is obligated to do so and because the pressure is on him to be completely honest. He is not alone in the knowledge of the investigation and if he lies about it, it will obviously leak just like everything else has.

      • Janetdr says:

That’s the deal right there! It would be different if this just turned up (and if the email thing wasn’t a load of crap)

    • Lightpurple says:

I’ve said before that I strongly suspect McConnell of being compromised by Putin. And Nunes stinks more and more each day. While Ryan, on the other hand, is simply an evil turd who doesn’t care what happens to others so long as he gets his way and is allowed to hurt people

      • Megan says:

@LP I agree about McConnell. I assume it is shady business deals rather than personal behavior. We’ve seen plenty of Republicans survive sex scandals. But illegal biz deals with Russian oligarchs would be awfully hard to shake off.

      • adastraperaspera says:

I agree, and so it annoyed me to no end that Morning Joe Scarborough today was so eager to laud McConnell for being such a great guy who supports independent judiciary. That is insulting to everyone, particularly when we know he stiff-armed Obama into keeping the Russian stuff from the American people during the campaign. Not to mention his vicious blockade of Merrick Garland. Or his “wife” and her cocaine dealing family empire. McConnell is ruthless and shady as all get out.

      • AnneC says:

Comey confirmed RNC was also hacked. Russians probably sitting on some republican dirt and using it as blackmail. And the video of Trump in the Russian hotel probably does exist. So Repubs are going to continue to obfuscate and whine about leakers. We need an independent counsel for this treasonous mess.

      • Megan says:

@AnnC Unfortunately, the independent counsel law expired in 1999. The best we are going to get is a bi-partisan, joint committee of Congress or the appointment of a special prosecutor who still serves at the pleasure of the attorney general.

The consequences of Ken Starr’s zealous pursuit of Bill Clinton are still being felt. Trump’s ties to Russia actually call for an investigator who is completely free of bias from the administration.

  11. Beth says:

While all this was going on yesterday, Trump had ANOTHER of his pep rallies! His ego is ridiculous

    • Kitten says:

Someone posted a live feed of the rally on my FB (to make fun of it of course) and I was mesmerized watching the crazy-looking sheeple cheering and feverishly clapping over their orange idol. Those people absolutely terrify me and that’s not hyperbole, I’m legit scared of these f*cking zombies.

      • Maria says:

i totally agree. It is like a cult and if I hear anybody else saying that we have to reach out to his supporters….i will scream. These people are brainwashed morons and I have as much sympathy for them as i have for the Nazi supporters in the 30s in Germany.

      • Kitten says:

Yeah that’s pretty much where I’m at, too.
        Sorrynotsorry.

      • Brittney B. says:

You *should* be scared of them. We all should. Some of them are already killing for him.

      • nicole says:

Totally agree, its become a cult, and his followers are completely out of reality, that they cant see what he is doing.

      • AnneC says:

I’ve heard his crowds are getting smaller. He’s got to find places where trumpians are still enthusiastic. That may start changing soon. Historically low approval rating and his unhinged lying tweets are going to become tiresome to EVERYONE.

      • Lisa says:

We’ll see how enthusiastic they are when they lose their health insurance. MSNBC mentioned yesterday that Kentucky went form 27% uninsured down to 7% uninsured thanks to Obamacare. If Trumpcare pass, their gooses (geese?) are cooked.

      • Shark Bait says:

They are scary old white zombies, fat white middle aged zombies or young dude bro zombies. I am also quite scared of them. And yes I know #notallwhites but you don’t see a lot of diversity at these rallies. You do, however, see a lot of hoveround scooters.

  12. Sullivan says:

We are living in interesting times.

  13. hnmmom says:

And what is also frighteningly interesting is Tillerson’s decision last night not to attend his first NATO meeting in April. Instead on that day he is going to – wait for it – Moscow. (Reuters released this detail).

  14. Maya says:

I have a question for my fellow CB especially those of you from USA.

During Gorsuch’s hearing, are the democrats allowed to ask anything they want? Is he under oath during these hearings?

If so then can democrats please ask 3 simple questions that will have us scream game, set & match?

    1. So you think the republicans especially Mitch McConnell had the right to stop the then president of the United States President Obama from nominating the next SCOTUS?

    2. Do you think if a president, who is under investigation for colluding with a foreign government to win an election aka commit treason, should be allowed to pick/nominate the next SCOTUS?

    3. If you answer yes to the above two questions, dont you think that it will be prudent of you to withdraw from the hearings until the investigations have concluded and/or a hearing has been set for the nominee President Obama picked?

    • Adastraperaspera says:

Great questions! I believe the Democrats should filibuster him. If he is put in, it justifies obstruction. I am so angry that President Obama did not get his nominee considered. It is terribly wrong.

      • KWM says:

The problem is if the democrats filibuster him the Republicans have said they will use the nuclear option so they next appointee will only need a majority not the 60 votes currently needed. We have too many judges who are too old to let their next pick be a 51 vote margin.

  15. Beth says:

Will the FBI’s report finally show his supporters what a bad guy he is or will they just call it “fake news”? While this report really worries me, I had a good laugh at my mom last night. I sarcastically told her what a great job Trump was doing, honest he is,making us safe, and she must still be so proud to have voted for “the real leader” she used to called him. When she told me to shut up and leave her alone, I could see she now realized she made a mistake being a Trumpster. Finally

    • Esmom says:

In my city’s paper they’re calling it fake news. In fact I feel like the supporters are stepping up their support again after being fairly quiet for a while. I really need to stay off those comments sections, they are beyond depressing.

    • Kitten says:

In addition to what Esmom said, I think the Russian connection sh*t is another distraction in a lot of ways.

I’m not saying that it isn’t important–it absolutely is–but when contrasted with the atrocious healthcare bill and the most savage and widespread slashing of domestic programs since WW2, I think it should take a back seat.

There’s so much happening in terms of legislation that will have a very direct and immediate impact on all Americans that we really need to stay vigil. The Russian stuff is salacious and scary in its own right but we must NOT lose focus on the #resistance.

Call your reps, attend town halls, continue to write letters expressing your dissatisfaction with the current administration. Nothing may ever come of the FBI investigation into Trump (sorry but I don’t trust Comey) but we as Americans must continue to lead the resistance against our corrupt government.

Remember that even if the best happened and Trump was impeached due to treason (or any other number of things) we are still left with Pence, Ryan, Tillerson, McConnell, Sessions and every other Republithug driving this administration’s regressive agenda.

      Stay focused, everyone.

      • Betsy says:

If this goes as deep as I think it does, Pence, Ryan, Tillerson, McConnell and Sessions are all going with Tramp.

      • Christin says:

Agree. The potential damage is in the legislation they want to push through during what Ryan describes as a brief, onetime window of opportunity (for the most wealthy).

    • isabelle says:

Wouldn’t get my hopes up really. Think we should focus on the current bad policies they are pushing and then if the Russian stuff is found by the FBI to damning, then focus on it. Right now they are pushing horrible anti-American policies and we can’t choose to ignore it.

    • Shark Bait says:

They are currently calling it fake news.
Boston peeps, you might enjoy this one… a Trump voting classmate (yeah I went to school with the teen equivalents of Jesse James and Kid Rock and the Cash me Ousside girl) posted a meme saying “The FBI can go all the way to another country to find Tom Brady’s Superbowl uniform, but can’t manage to find the leaks in their own White House.” It was from a page called Donald Trump fan source. I was like, no girl, that’s not how this works.
Their hero Troy Gowdy is basically calling it fake news and is more worried about catching the leakers. Dumb leading the dumb.

  16. Eric says:

Please spread word to all US citizens who are sympathetic:

Pressure your congressperson(s) starting right now, loudly and relentlessly, to keep the focus on this investigation. Demand that you want a full and detailed and thorough investigation and encourage your reps, with all the concern you can muster, to follow through for you on this most important of issues. Be vocal that you would like a special prosecutor or counsel to independently conduct an investigation into Emperor Zero, his cohorts, and Russian influencers.

This is the most important issue. Nothing else matters. We must stop our rogue government immediately.

    • Lightpurple says:

Even if your reps are outspoken democrats, give them feedback and support so they can argue that they’re speaking for the people with the numbers to back them up

  17. Who ARE These People? says:

Excellent beginning and hope it leads somewhere conclusive.

Meanwhile trying to keep my eye on the ball and making my calls
because it’s going to be a while & the rest of Congress is still doing
    its trashy thing.

    — Demanding an independent bipartisan investigation/select committee/special prosecutor
    — Opposing Supreme Court hearings while White House under investigation for treason
    — Opposing “health care” bill
    — Whatever else comes up, usually in the area of dismantling regulations

My reasoning is they have to know we will not be distracted. Both my Senators are Republicans and I am glad in a way, I can’t be complacent preaching to the converted.

  18. robyn says:

Why did he not say Trump was being investigated but that Hillary was being investigated? Comey needs to be investigated. He is self-serving more than country serving. Doubtful Trump and team Russia would have won otherwise.

    • Adastraperaspera says:

This is my number one question. He threw the election to Tr*mp. Will he really follow through and come up with indictments? This would be a riveting movie, but it’s utter hell to live through.

    • isabelle says:

Who really knows…..but some of the things that did force his hand to reveal Hillary, the rogue NY agents saying they were going to come forward, the one Gulliani bragged about and said had the info. Also that horrible little troll Chaffy read and made public the letter Comey gave the house in confidence. Comey feels a bit like Littlefinger sometimes but think those would be the top reasons. It would be awesome if he did the Hillary thing to bring to light the Russian boot lickers in the NY office. Trump may not be the only Russian traitor in all of this.

  19. Alexandria says:

I happened to look at the wiki entry for V for Vendetta. “In 2028, the world is in turmoil and warfare, with the United States fractured as a result of prolonged second civil war and a pandemic of the “St. Mary’s Virus” ravaging Europe. The United Kingdom is ruled as a fascist police state…”

Disturbing. Hope the US gets this fixed. The country seems so divided now. But I hope there is a light and everyone is kept safe.

  20. Marcy says:

The Republicans yesterday shamed themselves, you should have seen people from other countries who stated bluntly how many of them are in cohoots with Puttycakes and DumpTrumps regime of follies. I’m sure they are deflecting as their Dark Overlord the Republicans only concentrated on leakes, whereas the Democrats addressed each and every thing that is out there. You’d have to be a complete idiot, complicit, or bought and paid for by Puttycakes to not see the collusion that is over flowing. I don’t know what to think about Comey I’m glad someone questioned how happy he was to blast Hillary but he was sweating hard at least he cleared Obama and the BS wiretapping claims. The Schiff fellow I believe who hit it point after point as well as another lady should be applauded and boy oh boy was I right about DT going twitter berserker about it all cherry picking what he felt lifted him up. He’s NUTS he does not even respect the title of POTUS and he knows those tweets cannot be deleted he needs to get Article 25’d he’s beyond certifiable and ‘m tired of people covering for him picking their agendas and their party they are NON-HUMANS and NON-AMERICANS SHAME ON ALL THE REPUBLICANS YOU DIRTY TWO FACED COLLUDING RATS! Yes I was screaming that because they disgust me.

  21. Marcy says:

Comey stated Hillary investigation was closed Drumps was not why he was able to do that.

    • tracking says:

It was NOT closed when he made the “new e-mails” announcement. Polls show this is precisely when she lost her crucial margin of support.

  22. Mary says:

Sure wish Comey would have shared this info before the election. Perhaps some of the fools who voted for this delusional idiot would have put country before party.

    • Beth says:

Exactly what I was going to say. I still can’t believe he is president. Some of the fools would have stayed on his side always defending him, but some would have thought twice about what would happen

    • Betsy says:

I wouldn’t say that it doesn’t matter, because I think that was the thing that got just enough Democrats to stay home, but that info was definitely reported pre-election. I think partisan blinders kept a lot of people from seeing the Russian smoke pouring out of Donald’s ears.

  23. Escaped Convent says:

This is what I’ve wondered all along: If Russia meddled in the American election, doesn’t that invalidate it? It isn’t just Russia and the U.S. If any country meddles in another country’s election, how does that stand? Shouldn’t it nullify the entire election?

I am waiting for someone to address this question. I wonder why no one has. If anyone does, it expect it will be CNN.

This is obviously unprecedented. That orange pathological liar deserves to go down in disgrace.

    • Kitten says:

A US election itself can’t be nullified, but elected officials can be dealt with if they do things that are illegal (high crimes/misdemeanors).

The issue here is that the election results have not been proven to be false in that there is no proof of voters tampering with the ballots or voter fraud and we have yet to prove that Trump violated any election laws.

If we can prove something definitive in terms of Trump and his administration promoting a Russia-friendly foreign policy in exchange for Russia hacking the DNC then maybe we can impeach Trump–but that still wouldn’t somehow “erase” the very real votes that Trump received in the 2016 election.

Even then, I believe the decision would still have to go through the Supreme Court and who knows what kind of a ruling they’d give…an election has never been nullified in the US before and I’m fairly certain that the current SCJs won’t want to be the ones to set precedence.

    • B n A fn says:

This is what I’m thinking. He’s now under criminal investigation with his band of merry men. If he gets impeached we would still have to deal with Pence, Bannon ect. If he gets locked up for money laundering ect I’m sure most of the people at the WH in his inner circle would possible be involved with him. So in my mind, they all should leave in handcuffs. I’m just wishing, hoping and praying.

  24. Eric says:

Funny that a “so-called” prez under an FBI investigation is threatening GOP house members to vote for the DeathCare bill lest they lose their seats in 2018.

I’m really tired of all this WINNING!

  25. Veronica says:

Somewhere, Hillary Clinton is reading this on her computer, internally screaming.
