Well, these photos surprised me. Alexa Chung and Alex Skarsgard got together in 2015. They weren’t really undercover about dating, nor were they traipsing around, doing weekly pap strolls. They attended each other’s events a few times and Alexa seemed to be around last year while Alex was promoting Tarzan. But last fall, it seemed like they broke up, or hit pause, or maybe they just fell apart briefly. Something happened, because she was seen out with other dudes and we haven’t heard anything about Alex + Alexa in months.
And then these photos came out yesterday. Alexa and Alex were out and about in New York. They look “together” without actually showing any affection. Isn’t that weird? They’re not holding hands and they look like they’re actually trying to avoid touching each other. Maybe it was just cold. Maybe they’re not hand-holders. Maybe they spent the whole night doing unspeakable things to each other and they don’t feel like performing for the cameras. Who knows?
Here’s my theory: Alexa went back to Alex when Big Little Lies started. People are raving about that show, and raving about Alex’s work in particular as a physically and emotionally abusive husband to Nicole Kidman’s Celeste. What’s interesting to me is that Alex has done next to nothing to promote the HBO series. Maybe that’s what this photo-op is about?

She’s actually really cool. Very witty and down to earth, not the typical fashion girl.

yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in an outfit that made me think of her as a “style girl”…more like a “try-hard Chloe Sevigny”. Like, Sevigny’s fashion weirdness seems to be authentic whereas I find Chung to be more of a “look at how quirky I am” type of statement.
I could be totally off as people have said she’s funny and down-to-earth, but I still don’t like her style.
Shows u how far ‘cool-style’ can transform basic looks.
I guess if you’re still young and run in fashion circles than this is “style.” Not just Alexa- a lot of the young model types. Otherwise it’s just homeless bag lady layering up whatever is available.

I was about to make a comment about her fashion. She is consideted to be some fashion girl and i hate what she is wearing everytime I see her. And I do wonder why Alex is not promoting Big Little Lies. He is fantastoc in it. It may do much more to hid career than Tarzan ever did. Or is it because it is an ansamble cast and he is the less famous of the ansamble so outlets go to Reese or Nicole or Laura Dern? Or because it is about women essentially?

Are you serious? He was with her family celebrating her birthday back in November, her dad even posted a picture of her family and him on his instagram. He was with her in London around Christmas time. He was with her in Paris during Paris Fashion Week. He was with her in London recently and went to one of her best friends’ baby showers. Basically, just because you don’t here about someone in the tabloids or see pap pictures of them doesn’t mean they’re not together.
Alex has also been filming back to back movies for the past six months. He was filming Mute in Berlin last year, took a break for Christmas, then went right into filming The Aftermath in Prague and Hamburg for three months. He’s now in the middle of filming Hold the Dark in Canada. This is the first time he’s even been back in America for six months.

meh. why is it only fans of of women celebs been accused of being pr/or the celeb herself commenting? i’ve been around CB a while, and the only time i was accused of being pr (which is funny because i’m around all the time, so i’m clearly not on anyone’s pay roll lol) was over defending alicia vikander because everyone hated her. i wish someone accused tom hiddleston stans of being pr, for a change.

i didn’t know all of these details, but as someone who actually likes chung and isn’t pissed by the fact they’re dating (i also don’t get why people dislike her; she’s funny and doesn’t take herself seriously at all. some are put off by the whole it girl thing from like 10 years ago, but watch an interview with her, she’s goofy and quite likeable), i’m perfectly fine with them being back together/never split in the first place.
i think a lot of people who are used to see their partners everyday because they have normal jobs, don’t get how relationships for actors and/or musicians work. you see each other when you can.

I haven’t seen it yet but I’ve wondered how Alex’s rapport is with Samuel L. Jackson in that movie. I ‘ll have to see it this weekend.

bf and I came home after dinner and put the TV on and he was surfing…he zipped by the movie (which only had maybe a half hour left) and I was like “STOP! Let me see the Skars!” and he obliged. Margot Robbie’s character is kind of a bad ass, too, so I liked that.
@doofus Perfect description! He really is exquisite. I am so enjoying seeing him back on my screen every week in BLL. Even though he’s playing a horrific monster. His performance is terrifying and brilliant! I would have never thought to put him opposite Nicole Kidman, but they are amazing on screen. Their storyline is one of the most powerful of the series.
Oh, and Skars is to die for in Tarzan. Sweet lord of the jungle in a loin cloth, his body is INSANE!!!!

I really loved the characters of Eric and Pam, also. Alex and Nicole K. have been killing it in Big Little Lies. They are both turning in great performances.
Yeah… they’ve been “together” the entire time. If “together” means only seeing each other every 6 weeks or so, spending holidays and birthdays and vacations apart. He was with her at Paris Fashion Week. So they’re still clearly *something* but is that something a committed relationship between adults? Not likely. These are people with the time and funds to see each other very frequently and they don’t.
Look at the photos of her with Matt Hitt a couple of days ago – she’s cheery and bright. And then these two photo sets with Alex – totally sour. It’s weird. Plus, they’re with Fares Fares in these photos – Alex is talking to and walking with him.

He was with her in London both for her birthday and a few days before Christmas. Adults are capable of being apart and still maintaining a relationship.
What do you think she’s smiling at in that photo? She walks ahead of Alex & Fares for the entire photo set. I’m not saying they’re not together – they clearly are. Do I think this is a love for the ages? Nope. Do I think Alexa has a fashion line to promote and calls the paps herself? Yes.

@Onerous, i wrote it in another comment, but i fully believe that people who have normal jobs and are used to see their partner all the time, literally don’t get how it works for actors/musicians.
you’re not around all the time when you do that job, being apart is part and parcel. it’s like expecting a doctor or a policeman not to work shifts, and be home every christmas. a musician will tour and maybe not be there for your birthday, and actor would be shooting somewhere away from home for months and you won’t see him for weeks. idk why it’s their relationships that gets singled out as weird, when all relationships within that profession are like that.

He had a friend staying with him throughout the entirety of his last shoot and she didn’t visit at all. It’s odd. Clearly they have *some* kind of relationship. I just think it’s more open and less serious than people may think.
i’m not talking about normal long distance, i’m talking about long distance when the nature of one’s job is already chaotic, so resulting in seeing each other when you can. doesn’t mean it isn’t serious.

how can you be sure of that though? fan sightings and ig/twitter tracking is notoriously unreliable on these things. or maybe they did split for a time. or maybe she was also busy/working and they had to spend some time apart.
i mean, i just think that you’re making an assumption that isn’t based on much, other than what you consider normal in the context of a relationships, which for all we know might not be alex/alexa’s normal.

Also Alex role in Big Little Eyes isn’t the best (all we see is his ass and chest) Nicole overshadowed him in 100% (Celeste is my favorite character in BLL)

Neither of them talks about the other publicly. They don’t attend every red carpet out there together. Compared to how some celebrities view their private lives as a brand or marketing opportunity, these two seem very low-key.
I don’t see that many paparazzi photos of them, and half of them seem to be from regular people who come across them and share the photos online.
It would be rather very difficult because Matt Hitt dated Atlanta de Cadenet in 2014 and right after this relationships he started dating with Dakota and was with her 2014 – 2016.
Matt is very old Alexa’s pal. You can find pics with them together from the time when she was in relationship with Alex Turner. He is very present on her instagram from the beginnig. They go out all the time when they both are in NY or London and it has been going on for years.
before atlanta he was dating imogen morris clarke. i also think alexa and hitt are just friends and were always just friends, but back in 2014 there were some reports of them dating so who knows. if it did happen it was a super brief thing that didn’t impact their friendship at all.
If they really dated, it had to be very brief … and super awkward for them, if they ended ‘this’ so quickly.

I don’t think this is promo for BLL, considering it’s only got 2 episodes left and gets plenty of publicity without having him do a pap stroll. I think HBO has been deliberate in not having him promote it all because of Perry’s character and character arc, and keeping the focus on the three female leads.
As to Alex/a, broke up, got back together, see each other when they can.
totally agree about the promotion—Perry’s character is fundamental to the story line but producers are building suspense with a couple of issues/”mysteries” and by focusing on those specific three ladies (Madeline, Celeste and Jane), you can promote the show but not give the audience any clues/red herrings to some of the reveals. same reason why Laura Dern is fundamental to the story and brilliant but not one of the major promoters, compared to Reese Witherspoon.

I was hoping to see him promoting BLL as well, but I think he’s been filming something overseas, and he is just a supporting character in the series.
We don’t see enough Alex in the press generally. I like that he’s private, but he does such good interviews, it’s a shame he’s gone very under the radar since the end of True Blood.
Just based on a “photo assumption,” there seems to be very little joy in this pairing. Alexander honestly looked the happiest and most comfortable when he was hanging out with the super talented and adorable Ellen Page.
I have no idea what’s going on with these two, but she looks pretty miserable for someone who’s supposedly humping a gigantic, Gorgeous Viking.

It’s difficult to judge whether they’re still together, just friends, FWB or whatever. What I can say is that nearly every time they are papp’d together, neither seems happy. Like they almost always have sour looks on their faces, walk apart. I understand “privacy” “low key” what-have-you, but it’s… odd. But then, I’ve never really “got” them as a couple to begin with.
