Ivanka Trump interprets her ‘complicity’ with being a ‘force for good’

Several weeks ago, Saturday Night Live did an excellent skit about Ivanka Trump. SNL’s writers hit all of the sweet spots: Ivanka’s superficiality, her willingness and eagerness to profit from government service, her ability to put a glossy face on her father’s fascism, her lack of morals and her lack of ethics. The skit was a commercial for a fake Ivanka-branded perfume, “Complicit.” Here’s the skit:

It was brilliant on a lot of levels, and the “complicit” label has really stuck to Ivanka. So much so that the word “complicit” came up in Gayle King’s exclusive interview with Ivanka this week on CBS News. This was supposed to be a soft-focus interview about Ivanka’s big new role in the administration, where she will be “special assistant to the president.” When asked about whether she’s complicit in her father’s unhinged, dangerous and crazy policies, Ivanka showed that she doesn’t actually know what the word “complicit” means.

“If being complicit is wanting to be a force for good and to make a positive impact, then I’m complicit. I don’t know that the critics who may say that of me, if they found themselves in this very unique and unprecedented situation that I am now in, would do any differently than I am doing. So I hope to make a positive impact. I don’t know what it means to be complicit, but you know, I hope time will prove that I have done a good job and much more importantly that my father’s administration is the success that I know it will be.”

[Via NY Mag]

So, there you go. From the horse’s mouth. “…Then I’m complicit.” Yes, we know. And I love Ivanka’s argument of “everybody would be doing what I’m doing!” No, girl. Many of us would have been out the door as soon as our father began sexually assaulting and harassing women right and left. Would it have been too much for Ivanka to look up the meaning of “complicit” before she sat down for this interview?

Here’s another clip where Gayle King asks Ivanka if she feels she should actually speak out about these issues she claims to care about so much. Ivanka actually says these words: “I would say not to conflate lack of public denouncement with silence.” So when she’s publicly silent, we shouldn’t say she’s publicly silent. Alternative facts much?

And finally, did you know that hundreds of LGBTQ activists have been doing protests outside of Ivanka’s rented DC home? It’s true. And this is how one of Ivanka’s neighbors reacted (yeah, all of Ivanka’s neighbors loathe her).

Being a force for good…with her malignant narcissist dad?

How’s that working out for ya, Ivanka? Seen any *good* emanating from him lately?

    • Nicole says:

As if she cares. As long as her hubby plays politician and they can both line their pockets they are good. The entire family is in it for the prestige and money. They don’t care about anything beyond that

      • alexc says:

When you’re supposedly worth more than $700 million dollars why would you do anything for more money? With some of these ultra wealthy people its really become like a mental illness.

      • swak says:

@alexc – so true. I said if I ever won the lottery, 1 million would be more than enough for me. Enough to pay off my bills, save/invest some if I eventually cannot take care of myself, help my children (maybe put away for college for the grandchildren) and then be able to help others. Okay, so maybe 2 million. After that, why?

    • Lightpurple says:

She’s fully on board with his acts. She sees nothing wrong with his policies. It is all about grifting

    • Original T.C. says:

Her point is her Dad’s crazy, xenophobic, racist, sexist policies ARE for the good. And that he will be the most successful president ever!

Of course she knows what complicit means, she’s just redefining it for you alternate fact style. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

    • Tanguerita says:

crazy sorry to hijack the thread, but BANNON was removed from National Security Council!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMGOMGOMG

      • Megan says:

This is only good news if he is not replaced by Kushner.

      • Tanguerita says:

@Megan: Don’t think so. I believe it’s McMaster’s major win – and good for him. And for everyone. Let’s hope it’s the beginning of the end.

      • Megan says:

More breaking news … Trumps approval rating dropped to 34%. His approval among white men dropped from 58% to 49%. Maybe batsh$t crazy does trump racism. Pun intended.

      • Christin says:

He can still attend meetings, etc. Probably deflection from poll numbers and rubles-related stories.

      • HappyMom says:

This totally made my day. Finally-a smart move.

  2. KB says:

I mean she obviously knows what complicit means, she’s trying to make a point. She’s making it terribly, but she’s acknowledging that complicit is an accusation leveled at her by critics. I think more than anything, what stands out to me is that she truly thinks she’ll be able to turn his presidency around. It’s such a clusterf***, how does she think it will end up successful? Even if own daughter underestimates the evil in his heart.

I wish her neighbor weren’t wearing fur so that I could truly love her.

    • Lightpurple says:

What is in his heart is no different than what is in hers. She is not a good person.

    • bleu_moon says:

I want to believe it’s fake fur. Surely someone that fabulous wouldn’t wear real fur, right?

      • Megan says:

If she lives on Tracy Cirle, the fur is definitely real. It’s one of the most expensive blocks in DC.

      • Olenna says:

I believe it’s real, too. The rich protesting the rich. That’s rich.

    • lala says:

Yes, ditch the fur neighbor (that even rhymes) Now will someone please explain on what basis (other than first daughter) is she even in the White House?! She had no connections whatsoever with politics and now her argument is that she is a force of good? wtf does that even mean? Did she learn that prestigious political term on college? I swear Star Wars characters have more of political register in vocabulary

    • Stella says:

The glass of Chardonnay makes the outfit. I’ll give her a pass on the fur just this once.

    • Betsy says:

Who cares if it’s fur? It could have been her grandmother’s. Her expression is priceless..

    • Tiffany :) says:

I think she is dodging the true meaning of “complicit” because that would mean addressing her father committing crimes and doing horrible things. She furthers her complicity by ignoring/dismissing the idea that her father has done anything wrong.

      • Tigerlily says:

Yes either she is dodging or perhaps totally ignorant and needs a dictionary.

  3. Megan says:

Ivanka does not get that she isn’t Americas sweetheart. We all see her for she is … a Trump grifter who willingly advances fascism to make a buck.

    • Original T.C. says:

Unfortunately the vast majority of Americans, even Democrats do see her as a sweetheart of sorts and think she’s at the White House to save us from her Dad. I’m actually glad she started doing interviews so people can finally see that she is just like her Dad in a prettier image.

      • third ginger says:

Is that true? I do not know all Democrats, of course. However, the ones I know, especially the young, extremely progressive ones, think she is vile. Take a little survey in the LGBT community. Perhaps I have a slanted view. I’m an academic, and my daughter is gay and an activist.

      • SusanneToo says:

        I just don’t see that.

      • Kitten says:

Really? I haven’t heard that from any Dems. Gross.

      • Mltpsych says:

I know no Dems that like her and I’m in California where we are in a pretty liberal bubble

      • Mamunia says:

My view of Ivanka has completely changed. I used to think she was her Daddy’s voice of reason. But now that we’ve seen his crazy and her support of it, I detest her. As this farce of a presidency continues, everything that jerk has will be tainted. I’m glad that she’s “officially” involved so we can get her an “official” jail cell! I want the entire family to go down in flames. They are disgusting. She comes in a pretty package, but her ugly insides are seeping out.

      • Esmom says:

The depressing thing is the supporters think Ivanka owned Gayle in this interview. I saw that a FB friend shared a Fox article about it. I felt like throwing up, which is why I tend to stay away from FB these days. One former co-worker of mine who I’d always thought was sane and reasonable is now “liking” anything pro-Ivanka.

      • Kelsey says:

There were people in the beginning who thought she might be a positive influence on her dad but that ship has sailed.

Whenever he’s in political trouble she starts posting cutesy photos on her Twitter and Instagram accounts and Trump supporters and the media eat it up.

She had nothing to say yesterday when her dad stripped protections from women in the workplace. She claims she’s for equal pay and maternity leave but her own company policies contradict that. She’s a hustler and a grifter and you can’t trust anything she says.

      • Original T.C. says:

I know smart Dems who think she’s harmless fluff and take the high road of “not blaming her for her father’s policies”. Also totally viewing her as a victim of her father. It is very annoying.

      • NotSoSocialButterfy says:

Ask democrats here if they feel that way. I certainly don’t. She’s as vile as her father.

    • holly hobby says:

According to the finance reports she has vested interest in that new hotel that they rented from the federal govt. How’s that going? Why can they still own this government facility?

  4. Catherine says:

    She’s a stone cold coward.

  5. Alix says:

“If being complicit is wrong, I don’t want to be right!”

  6. Clare says:

I can’t get my head around how Orange Cheeto has managed to poopulate* his administration with his family and no one has been able to stop him.

    *typo, but it stays.

  7. Eric says:

I guess stupidity really is genetic.

  8. Snazzy says:

The woman with the fur and the glass of wine is everything 🙂

    • Giddy says:

      Love her, love her!!

    • Kaiser says:

That’s my new Goal Vibe for when Ivanka, Bigly and Jared are dragged away in handcuffs.

      *sips wine, strokes faux fur*

    • Snowflake says:

Yes, that’s awesome. I feel like that’s how probably a lot of the old money people feel about the Trumps. They prob feel the Trump are very vulgar, not classy and refined

      • Mamunia says:

I have no money and I feel that they are very vulgar, not classy and refined. I think they smell too!

  9. Beth says:

If that idiot actually is admitting she’s “complicit”, she’s really honest or just doesn’t know what it means

  10. Luca76 says:

I wish Gayle had asked her about ethics and conflicts of interest and not the whole complicit thing because at the end of the day I could give zero f***s how she lives with herself, or feels about her father. But I care that we are now living in a corrupt country where unqualified people are in the White House profiting off of the presidency.

    • Lisa says:

Gail always seems to ask softball questions of her interviewees. Someone else should have been interviewing the daughter. All I got from the interview was that Ivanka is either delusional or just as bad as her fascist father. She is complicit either was since she enables his being in the WH as well as his ongoing behavior and attitudes.

      • Luca76 says:

Like I said the whole complicit thing is a distraction she’s committing fraud against this country. Getting privledged information and using her access to profit business wise.

    • Lightpurple says:

Gayle would never ask those questions, which is why she was with Gayle instead of going on Colbert.

  11. anon says:

I love how in the last video she seems not to understand that going on the news and denouncing something she doesn’t agree with is THE SAME as publicly denouncing it. Did she get her degree from a diploma mill??? She seems dumb… I can’t see her having any post-secondary education at all.

Also, it creeps me out how much she reminds me of her dad. Donald Trump in a woman’s body; personality adjusted for slightly more feminine behaviours. *shudder*

    • Megan says:

She graduated cum lauded from U Penn. She isn’t stupid, she just plays stupid so she can look the other way as her father destroys our country.

    • perplexed says:

She’s educated, but that’s as far as I’ll go in describing her intelligence level. I supposed I used to think she was smart (before Trump ran for President), but now I wonder what I was thinking.

If lying is considered to be displaying intelligence, then I guess she’s intelligent.

  12. boredblond says:

Saw clips on the news–what’s with the little girl soft whispery voice? Didn’t use it on the apprentice..guess trump voters only approve of women speaking in hushed tones. Of course she wasn’t asked about dad’s cutting funds for women thru the UN recently or approving a bill that guts equal pay –that’s on Gayle.

    • Rapunzel says:

The baby voice she’s using I probably the same one she uses when she sits on Daddy’s lap and asks for something. “Daddy, can I please have a West Wing office?” “Daddy, can you let Jared play President?” “Daddy, can I go skiing instead of work?” “Daddy, I wanna sit next to Justin Trudeau!”

      • Lisa says:

        Ewwwww. Shudders.

      • PunkyMomma says:

The relationship between father and daughter is the elephant in the room. Ivanka has to be blind as to how her appearance often screams defacto-wife, and Daddy loves it. It’s so disturbing.

    • MinnFinn says:

I noticed the fake whispery voice too. All of the Trumps and Jared have a persona and role constructed specifically for their time in the White House.

    • Wellsie says:

The whisper voice and lisp generated by her gigantic veneers are vom inducing. I have no problem with a regular lisp. It’s her gigantic fake teeth whistling in the wind that I can’t with.

Tangent: Of course she knows what complicit means. She is just talking around the question. If you focus on the false premise that she doesn’t understand complicit, even just sarcasticly, the deplorables say, “Look at how the libtards are trying to say she doesn’t understand…”

I have no solutions, just complaints. Poor souls in Syria, these terrible people in the U.S., and other sad and mind boggling events are chipping away at me (and everyone paying attention).

  13. RussianBlueCat says:

Did anyone hear about how Ivanka and Jared are renting their house for $15,000 per month from a billionaire suing the US government? This whole Trump administration and family is never far from some scandal

    • Lightpurple says:

I heard he had to get a rental license AFTER they rented it and the neighborhood may challenge it

      • Beth says:

The neighborhood will challenge it because they want Ivanka and her family to leave. It’s been on the news about the neighbors hating all the security and paparazzi taking over the area. Maybe they’ll move to the WH and not have to d dr ive to work

      • Megan says:

There is nothing to challenge. The rental liscence is designed to crack down on slumlords. Clearly, this house meets basic rental standards.

The city is making the secret service apply for parking and side walk restrictions (which they should have done from the get go), but they will undoubtedly be issued.

DC has strict fair housing laws. Evicting someone for their political views is impossible. All the neighbors can do is hope the FBI moves quickly to relocate these two to prison.

    • Canadian Becks says:

Interesting….I had asked on this forum whether anyone knew what they did with their NY residence.

      • Lisa says:

Well, I can’t see a reason why they would get rid of their other properties. They’re not going to be in DC forever and they hardly need to sell one residence to pay for the one in DC.

    • Jessica says:

Super cool area. We lived close. I can totally understand why their new neighbors want them out.

  14. Aiobhan Targaryen says:

Who is she being a force for good for? Rich white old men. If that is the case, she is the most successful assistant to the President that has ever had that job. Everyone else is suffering or going to suffer because her father is a delusional fool who I truly believe is stuck in the 80s in his mind. That petty idiot will roll back everything that Obama did because Obama did it, whether or not he agreed with it doesn’t matter. And she is just sitting there spouting bullshit as she always does because she does not know what else to do.

Everything about that photo with the neighbor is hilarious. She looks like a character from Dynasty. That is not an insult because Dynasty was amazing.

    • Becky says:

Yeah I was going to say force of good for whom? Rich, white right-wingers

    • Pumpkin Pie says:

I’d object to ‘white’ in white rich men. drumpfs pasteyness deserves a category on its own. ivanka’s complexion looks the same for some time, eric was always pastey, and I bet so is the junior without the sunbed. They look sick !!
Is it ScarJo the actress playing ivanka in the skit?

      • Aiobhan Targaryen says:

Yes, that is Scarlett in the skit; I believe she hosted SNL a few weeks ago. I may have to watch it now to see how she did.

I agree about your category comment. Maybe it is just me but he does change color. Sometimes he is orange with white rings around his eyes. Other times he is pasty almost Powder white. Maybe he is radioactive when he is lying and pasty when he realizes that he is way over his head.

    • Tigerlily says:

Love the pic of the neighbor. As for Trump and his family….as a Canadian I just watch in horror. Could not believe he got elected. And as a Canadian it does matter. As Justin Trudeau’s father (the late PM Pierre) said: Being the US’s neighbor is like sharing a bed with an elephant. The elephant may be benign but they could roll over on you in their sleep and do great harm.

I have paraphrased the quote but meaning comes across I hope.

  15. Erinn says:

She probably genuinely believes she is a force for good.

This woman was raised by a family of greedy, corrupt, big business types. Everything is about the bottom line. Everything is about making a buck. People don’t really matter. Any moral compass she would have developed would be incredibly skewed. She then married another person raised in similar circumstances, and the insulation continues.

I don’t for a second doubt that she honest to god believes she’s doing the right thing, and that she’s incredibly special, and incredibly useful. She was raised this way. It’s always been an us against them kind of vibe … and compared to some family members – she probably IS seen as a lot more lenient and people focused. Compared to the average person though – she’s not. But compared to the people she is surrounded by, she’s probably a lot ‘softer’ on a lot of the ‘issues’ they’re obsessed with.

    • Louisa says:

      @ Erinn. Spot on.

    • Anitas says:

Ivanka plays the sympathy game, and gets a pass because she’s conventionally attractive and clever with words. Everyone seems to want to believe she’s actually a decent person deep inside, just misguided and bound by loyalty to her father. Well I think she’s stuck her foot in the door as a contingency plan when Trump inevitably goes down, and she’ll be ready to reinvent herself as the dutiful daughter who had no choice but to follow her daddy who she genuinely thought was doing stuff in people’s best interest. She’s already practicing her baby voice. Meanwhile she’s more than happy to profit from all the shady, immoral dealings of her father’s administration, but trust me, this reptile is ready to put on her innocent little girl skin at the first sign of serious trouble, and save her ass.

      • MinnFinn says:

I judge a person partially by the company they keep. Wendi Deng Murdoch is Ivanka’s very close friend. Wendi is a world-class A-level manipulator.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

I agree with almost everything you said here, except I think the reason why people buy the ‘decent misguided person bound by loyalty to her father’ angle is less about looks and closer to the reasons why people want to think that about the adult Duggar children (not that Ivanka’s situation is anywhere near as bad as theirs, because as a grown, privileged woman with years of exposure to Hollywood, celebrities, and college education, she has had access to other choices. She could also come out against her father and get a ton of support. I really don’t think she or Jared Kushner had to be complicit in this mess if they didn’t want too). When a person’s parents are very shitty people, others are desperate to hope that the public figure’s kids will be so much better than them.

    • naomipaige says:

Delusional! Every last one of them. The fully believe all the s**t that is coming out of their own mouths.

  16. Who ARE these people? says:

What a smooth liar she is. Do you think that she, like her father, believes her own lies? I tend to.

She is not who she thinks she is and if she’s trying to say things would be even worse without her…bitch please.

    • Lightpurple says:

She believes her lies and her father’s views are her views.

      • Anitas says:

While it suits her. She’s a player and she’ll outplay Donald in the end. There is no loyalty in that family, how would they even know the meaning of the word? There’ll be knives out between them when their ship starts sinking.

      • addie says:

I’m waiting for the ship to go down, just to see the lot of them turn on each other to save their miserable skins. That’s when I’ll bring the popcorn.

  17. ElleBee says:

That neighbor is me every morning when I hear of the new scandals infesting this administration. Terrible I know, but Frump and his flying monkeys deserve everything that will come their way

  18. Lightpurple says:

Oh, dearest Princess Nagini the Corrupt, your most sacred horcruxed vagina can’t get you out of this. Yes, you’ll fool some people with your poor little rich girl who just wants to post cute pictures of her kids act but you won’t fool all of us. You are NOT a force for good. You don’t even know what the word means. Stop stealing our money. Stop distracting from the evil you support by exploiting your own kids.

    • SusanneToo says:

This evil happened just a few days after trump signaled that Assad would be left alone. How do these pics of children compare to yours, ivanka?
      http://twitter.com/nbcnightlynews/status/849404523949023232

      • Rapunzel says:

And of course, re: Syria, DT blamed Obama rather than take any blame himself.

      • SusanneToo says:

        @Rapunzel. Quelle surprise!!😯😯😯

      • Megan says:

The only person responsible for the gas attack is Assad. He made the decision to commit mass murder. It is not Trump nor Obama’s fault. However, if he is not held accountable by the US, that absolutely is Trump’s fault.

      • Lightpurple says:

She’s whining on Twitter about how outraged and heartbroken she is while her father, who pretty much gave Assad the go-ahead signal a few weeks ago, blames Obama and violates federal public records laws by deleting tweets again.

And today or tomorrow, the orange turd will probably sign the bill allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood, while Princess Nagini posts more pictures of her kids or proclaims how supportive she is of women.

      • Rapunzel says:

What tweets is he deleting now? I think he believes if it’s not the @POTUS account it doesn’t apply. Why the hell is he even allowed two separate twitters again?

        Gah, this stuff kills me.

    • Christin says:

She’s always floating an unbelievable persona, from 16-hour workdays to super mom. It’s going to be interesting to see how she brands herself once the wheels completely fall off the wagon she chose to board.

  19. SusanneToo says:

” I don’t know that the critics who may say that of me, if they found themselves in this very unique and unprecedented situation that I am now in”
Wow, it sounds so innocent. She just woke up one morning and there she was living in DC, and oh gee, in an office in the WH. Hey, it could happen to anyone. Poor girl, catching all that flak just because she’s donnie in a dress with slightly better hair.
And please stop with the crappy Marilyn/Jackie voice, lady.

    • Lightpurple says:

And nothing unprecedented at all. The adult children of Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Bush have all been there. Indeed, a nice long chat with Julie and Tricia Nixon might be good for her.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

Ah, Julie Nixon (Eisenhower). Nora Ephron described her as a “chocolate-covered spider.”

      • PunkyMomma says:

@WATP — Oh Nora Ephron. I miss her. What a field day she would be having right now with Cheeto Mussolini and Thugs.

      • Lightpurple says:

I really wish Molly Ivins were alive to guide us through this.

  20. Diana says:

    She is full of sh!t!.

  21. MostlyMegan says:

I guess if someone accuses you of being something you don’t like, you just change the definition of it. “I don’t know what narcissistic means… but if narcissistic means I put other people first and don’t really prioritise myself, then yes – I am narcissistic.” NO, that’s NOT what it means. (See, you can do it with ANY word).

    • SusanneToo says:

The trumps’ private schooling really didn’t do much for them, did it?

      • Christin says:

Money certainly cannot buy common sense.

I think some rich people believe they can buy and be insulated from anything.

      • MostlyMegan says:

Well she was ready for that question and had a ‘fake news’ answer all prepared. She literally just changed the definition of the word. The waxy, fake apple doesn’t fall far from the fake plastic tree.

  22. QQ says:

I really hope that when this sh!t balloon implodes her complicit ass has the sh!t stuck to her every pore all over herself So she can go play Consigliere to her trash ass dad in the jail cell next to him

  23. lizzie says:

I know gayle probably can’t go harder than “are you complicit” and make it through edits (and Ivanka’s answer spoke for itself) but it would have been awesome for gayle to say “by complicit I mean do you agree with XYZ” and rattled off ten of trump’s most maniacal tweets and let ivanka sink like a rock.

  24. HK9 says:

She’s in way over her head. If the lies she tells herself will get her through the night well so be it but make no mistake-this will not end well for her.

  25. MissMerry says:

“for the woman would could stop all of this, but won’t”

are we REALLY giving Ivanka that much credit?
She couldn’t stop her father and his presidency, especially single-handedly as this little satire suggests to it’s viewers.

While I think satire is important and feels necessary, especially in 2017 with all this going on, I sometimes feel that satire can dull our activism. While it makes us laugh, it also makes us forget we need to do something serious about this sh*t, not just laugh at how sadly ironic and true these SNL skits are to real life…and then just change the channel.

  26. Anitas says:

She’s such a snake. And those eyebrows are ridiculous.

  27. Eric says:

    @QQ
She’ll be visiting her dad and her husband in the clink for sure. She’ll get off “for the sake of the kids.”

    • Lightpurple says:

That’s what I think too. There will be a plea-bargain arrangement and she’ll avoid prison time because otherwise the kids would be a burden on the state with both parents in prison. Lori and Michael Fortier used that argument to plea bargain her out of prison time for their role in the Oklahoma City terrorist attack.

    • Anitas says:

I’m convinced she has an escape plan worked out. She doesn’t want to flat out admit she’s working at the White House as she knows that will put the burden of responsibility and knowledge on her when shit hits the fan. As for Jared, they’ll spin some story about how he tried to do damage control over Trump but ultimately failed. Stories like that are already circulating, and I’m quite sure they’re coming from Ivanka and Jared’s camp. They’ll take credits for any success (however unlikely it is), while every debacle is already being spun as Donald not listening to Jared and Ivanka. She’ll knife her father in the guts when the time comes in exchange for immunity or a plea deal, then rebrand herself as someone who was always secretly working for the greater good and making the best out of the situation.

      • Christin says:

This is what I think is actively happening. If and when it all crashes, the excuse will be how they both were trying to help do the ‘right’ thing, but could not control him.

This rumor is floating around again, with Morning Joe / Mika mentioning it this week. They said people close to orange have gotten him in a room, but just ‘cannot’ carry through an intervention of sorts.

That evening, a WaPo article mentions how one of son-in-law’s many job duties is to contact media sources who have been amenable to orange (Joe being specifically mentioned). They are laying out an alternative cover story for themselves.

    • Betsy says:

I think she’s been smart enough (barely, I give her no credit) to keep her nose clean in provable ways.

  28. MissMerry says:

the neighbor, in a FUR COAT HOLDING A GLASS OF WINE, enjoying protests on their street….hilarious.

  29. Rapunzel says:

Of course Ivanka thinks complicit is a positive word. It starts with the word “comp” and the grifting Trumps love getting comps.

  30. Canadian Becks says:

“I would say not to conflate lack of public denouncement with silence.”

I think she’s trying to INFER that just because she isn’t speaking out publicly about the issues doesn’t mean she isn’t talking in private to Trump.

Basically, she’s trying to have her cake and eat it too, by inferring that she cares, even as she refuses to go on record.

We all know people who are very sly & two-faced, know how to look out for themselves above all else, who know how to put a nice face forward while dealing dirty behind closed doors. She is one of those.

She craves approbation from her father more than she cares about being a decent human being.

    • Esmom says:

      Exactly. She’s truly disgusting.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

I agree (and I also think you meant IMPLY instead of INFER).

    • Kitten says:

Yes thank you for pointing this out. She is abhorrent.

    • JRenee says:

A $20 vocabulary for a ten cent pack of lives. She is unbothered because she is not impacted. She should not have security clearance, nor any job in the WH. She’s complicit, but thinks herself clever to neither speak on behalf of anything of substance nor against the tyranny of her father or tge over reaching Senate. Disgusting!

  31. third ginger says:

Bad people never believe that they are bad. If someone like Ivanka truly understood the evil she is serving, she could not live with herself.

    • Christin says:

People who do bad things can also become hooked on whatever wrong behavior or activity they are doing. They often just keep upping the ante the longer they get by with it.

  32. Giddy says:

Wow, that SNL skit really got to her, and she just revealed how much. Sorry, Ivanka, just because you’d like to change the definition of the word, we know what it means. And you are definitely Complicit.

  33. Tiffany says:

Boy, did she looked pissed a black woman was interviewing her. She probably thought she was worthy of Charlie Rose.

Also, why did she go to CBS and not NBC. Interesting.

  34. Jayna says:

Opportunists is what Ivanka and Jared are. If I had a father who was going to run the country like he is, I would not be associated in any way, shape, or form with it. She and husband couldn’t pack their bags fast enough and get to Washington, D.C. Ugh.

  35. MellyMel says:

The lady with the fur and wine in hand needs to be a meme asap!

  36. adastraperaspera says:

She is as insane as her father, in her own way. I suspect her whole life is just one big sham–mob boss daughter marriage of convenience to mob boss son, bought-and-paid-for college degrees, cheap and shabby fashion products produced by grossly underpaid labor. She is the definition of complicit. (I don’t see Tiffany helping run this scam.) House of cards. Coming down on her soon I hope.

    • Jessica says:

I actually give Tiffany credit for keeping it quiet with her D boyfriend.

      • adastraperaspera says:

Me too. I think her mother Marla is keeping her out of it.

      • Christin says:

I think Marla/Tiffany take heed of which way the wind is blowing, instead of trying to ride the fence like Jar-vanka are doing.

  37. swak says:

The hypocrisy is outstanding in this whole situation. A week ago, Melania giving a speech on the empowerment of women: ‘”As leaders of our shared global economy, we must continue to work towards gender empowerment and respect for people from all backgrounds and ethnicities, remembering always that we are all ultimately members of one race, the human race. Each one of us is uniquely different,” Trump said, honoring 12 women at the 2017 Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Awards.’ A week later her husband defunds a UN program helping women and then undoes women’s protection rights in the workplace – which includes equal pay (which she gave a speech on the same day). How she does not see the hypocrisy in all this is amazing.

    • Pumpkin Pie says:

Melania should shut up. What was her job when she came to the US? To add, that ‘business’ may involve underage girls and human trafficking victims as well. She should shut up.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

There are PLENTY of valid reasons why no Trump has any business opening their mouths about female empowerment and respect for people of all backgrounds, but Melania’s having allegedly been an escort, prostitute, or any other type of sex worker in the past isn’t a good one. That’s like saying Christian, Muslim, and other religious women should shut their mouths on issues about empowerment or equality because of all the exploitation, abuse, and violence religion as a whole has been a part of over the centuries, or that women who choose to have sex should shut their mouths about those issues because while they’re consenting, there are women, underage girls, and other people who are getting sexually assaulted. All three of those things would also be examples of blaming women for actions mainly committed by males.

  38. cathy says:

If she REALLY cared, she would hold a press conference and tell Republicans to STOP trying to take women’s rights away. STOP trying to defund planned parenthood. STOP republicans from trying to challenge Roe V Wade. She’s a total fake like the whole administration. The only thing these people want to do is line their pockets. They are very shitty people.

  39. VegasSchmagus says:

Potus 45’s stay in the WH (hopefully to end soon) will go down in history as the Grifter Administration. #SAD

  40. Abbess Tansy says:

You know, I had an argument with a relative about just how much Ivanka and the older sibs should support their father and his ideas, pre- and post-election.
My relative said,” how can you expect Ivanka to turn her back on her father since he took care of them, provided a place in his company. It isn’t easy since the kids are tied up with the family brand. He is also unforgiving and vengeful” I replied, ” if they were truly educated, socially conscious persons and didn’t like their father and the way he treats people, the children could have just started their own businesses and separated themselves from him. They are with him because they want to be and to get whatever share of ill-gotten gaines is available.” Other children of politicians have made it clear they didn’t agree with their parents views.

    • Jayna says:

She doesn’t have to turn her back on her father. They could have stayed back in NYC and worked like normal.

Jared and Ivanka worked hard to get him elected and the packed their bags to go off and be part of his motley crew in the White House. They are conniving, make no bones about it.

  41. TyrantDestroyed says:

Of course Lucrezia Trump would be by his father’s side no matter what. I am glad to see that she is well beloved in her neighborhood.

  42. robyn says:

Ivanka knows how to twist the truth just like her lying dad does. She knows she is C O M P L I C I T in the worse way possible. I can’t watch her or her p*ssygrabbing father live because their voices have become too grating and I can’t stand people lying bold-faced into the camera.

Is she happy with her dad giving internet providers everyone’s private info or making poisonous insect spray legal again or killing innocents, including children, caught up in war. Is she happy her dad never takes responsibility for anything. She is every bit as culpable as her dad for whatever evils befall the world during so-called president Trump’s administration. And she certainly loves her own self-aggrandizement over her country if she chooses to ignore Russian interference in this past so-called democratic election. I can’t stand seeing her hypocritical face. She makes me sick!!!!!!

  43. Lua says:

Poor dear doesn’t know what the word means.
That’s ok, merriam webster’s twitter went ahead and defined it for her 😉

  44. Harla Jodet says:

So where was Ivanka when her daddy was signing away workplace protections for women? How exactly is she a “force for good”?

    http://m.motherjones.com/politics/2017/04/trump-just-revoked-protections-women-workplace

  45. Neelyo says:

I am so sick of her smug, flat face!

  46. Mltpsych says:

I am so distracted by her giant fake teeth

  47. Vampi says:

Wow. You can see Ivanka’s entire chin implant outline in that header pic. Don’t care how that sounds, it’s true. *shrugs*

  48. Bitsy says:

I understand her situation and actually feel empathy towards the situation…..a little bit. My father is a black Republican who voted for Trump. To my horror and embarrassment. He also is sexist and a womanizer who is on his 4th wife. I argue him down on his politics and shame him constantly. However, he was a really present, attentive, and loving father. So I can never disown him nor would I be estranged because of political beliefs. I love him. He’s my wonderful dad and part-time arse. So like I said, I feel for her…..a little

    • swak says:

But, Bitsy, you call your father out, big difference. Doesn’t seem like Ivanka is doing that.

    • TryingToThink says:

Well, I think lots of people were disappointed with politics and policies and the voted for Trump both as an act of protest and with the hope that an outside-candidate wouldn’t be as corrupt. So one could say: a lot of Trump-voters cared but they just got it terribly wrong.

    • HappyMom says:

I understand that. But would you put yourself in this very public position of defending all of your father’s awful moves?

  49. swak says:

    Breaking news:

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has been removed from the National Security Council, White House sources told The Huffington Post Wednesday.

Bloomberg, which first reported the news, said the move was part of a larger shake-up within the NSC.

    • Kitten says:

It’s good for McMaster (who seems like a solid guy) but we don’t know what kind of a substantive impact–if any–this will have on the administration.

Bannon always knew his days were numbered, which was why he tried to cause as much damage as he could while he had the chance.

    • Kelsey says:

This is probably the work of Jared Kushner. Apparently Kushner and Bannon are feuding and we all know Kushner will win given he’s the husband of Daddy Trump’s favorite.

    • swak says:

      @kitten, hopefully a good impact.

      • Kitten says:

At the risk of being a Negative Nancy, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bannon comes back, or is assigned a different role within the administration. The Mercer family will see to it.

But yes, it’s still great to see him out of the NSC position as it was a very powerful role that he was not even remotely qualified for. McMaster is far more worthy and seems to be rational and fair with a modicum on integrity, which can’t be said about most of these goons.

      • swak says:

My sister-in-law believes like you do. Feels like it is a load of crap. But I’m the forever optimist!

      • Lightpurple says:

Bannon still has his job; he just isn’t on the NSC.

    • Lightpurple says:

He’s just off the NSC, he still has all his other “duties.”

    • Christin says:

Likely just a deflecting ploy. According to news reports, he can still attend meetings as he wishes.

  50. TryingToThink says:

Absolutist monarchs and fascists and tyrants never cared what the plebs had to say.
This is there step-by-step rule book:

    1. Ignore what the plebs say.
    2. Ridicule what the plebs say.
    3. Shout down or shoot down the plebs.
    4. Sorry, there is a revolution and the monarch/fascists/tyrant will die.

I think Ivanka is somewhere between step 1 and step 2.

  51. Who says says:

I am actually surprised she does these type of one on one interviews. Does the West Wing of the White House think that any good is going to come out of her interviews? Like women think that she is their champion. She is clueless as to the day to day struggle of women. Her interviews constantly come off as Social Media jokes and her definition of a force for good, is basically doing nothing but stand there and watch her misogynistic father sign executive orders that reduce women’s rights.

    • Christin says:

Deflect daily and play to the base seems to be their MO. She probably sold more bottles of crappy fragrance or a few marked-down sweaters as a result of that interview.

  52. naomipaige says:

Gosh, she’s as delusional as her poor excuse of a father is! They’re both so full of themselves.

  53. Jumpingthesnark says:

What an insane Hypocrite she is! She could also have done what Tiffany did and be awol. And if I were that neighbor lady I’d ditch the fur and get some coffee and snacks ordered STAT for those protesters. Gotta help them keep their energy levels up!!!

  54. Elgin Marbles says:

On March 27, Equal Pay Day for women, Cheeto Jesus revoked the Obama era Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces order which called for paycheck transparency and banned forced arbitration clauses for sexual harassment and discrimination for Federal contractors. On that same day, Ivanka gave a speech in DC celebrating equal pay for equal work. Cheeto Mary Mag knows exactly what daddy is doing. She’s proved herself to be a vile piece of garbage.

    • Lightpurple says:

And today, the man who swore to uphold the Constitution and all laws arising under, which would include the EEOA, said that a serial sexual harasser should not have settled multiple cases because “he’s a good guy.”

  55. holly hobby says:

We should send Malibu Barbie a dictionary. Complicit isn’t a good/nice word in context of a sentence.

Tone deaf and dumb. I know Daddy Orangino bought her way into Wharton.

  56. HappyMom says:

I will, for a minute, give her the benefit of the doubt. Let’s say that yes, she has wonderful intentions, she wants a platform for her ideas and she’s right there where she could make a difference. Trump NEVER listens to good advice-from anyone. So her being there is totally futile. She makes NO difference at all. She does NOT have an impact on what he does. And she needs to wake up and realize this.

  57. gucci says:

Expecting any of the Trump scions (or Melania) to express disagreement with Trump is delusional. The kids were born into that family/system, and are the heirs to massive wealth. They don’t know anything else; if any of them truly objected to their father, they would have left to forge their own paths in life. Everyone’s ‘programmed’ to believe their family is the norm, no matter how dysfunctional or not. Being able to critically and realistically assess your own family and determine your values, even if they contradict what you were taught, happens very rarely. And at their level of wealth, influence, social status and power, not an iota of hope they’ll bite the tiny hand that’s fed them money, privilege, and more of the same all their lives. Trump is simply astonishingly overt about his sense of entitlement, which is offensive precisely bc he makes absolutely NO effort to be discreet about it. 100%truth that 100% of wealthy, connected people pull strings for their kids and friends and favourite folks; it’s just under the radar and those outside those circles have no clue how much boosting is going on. Interviewing Ivanka like this is just media wanking off bc they know they’ll get views. AS IF this woman would confess on national TV or to anyone that she’s unhappy with her dad or that she’s distressed to be benefitting wildly from the circumstances…hilarious!!!

  58. jana says:

There is so much to dislike about this woman, but that Marilyn Monroe whispery voice is, by far, what I hate most about her today.

    • robyn says:

Yes … that odd whispery voice … no doubt her dad’s idea of how women ought to speak.

Already children and other innocents have died during her dad’s reign. Does she realize that big egos, inexperience and stupidity won’t make for a “good presidency”.

  59. puravidacostarica says:

That last photo shows she has oral experience with small knobs.

  60. Olenna says:

I am LMAO right now after now after watching Rachel and Laurence. Trump’s bimbo daughter’s comments have nothing on the gossipy news about Gov. Bentley’s (R, AL) affair and Rick Perry’s appointment to the NSC. I so hope CB covers this Dumb and Dumber shit show tomorrow.

    • SusanneToo says:

I’m in Alabama and it’s always a source of amusement when our Bible thumping Republican politicians are caught with their pants down.😂😂😂 Those secret recordings(by his wife of 50 years!!)were cringingly funny. The other woman’s hubby got paid off to look the other way with a state job. It’s coming to a boil now-impeachment time!

  61. corporate stepsister says:

She’s not supposed to be in any position of influence at all. She has no business being in his office or in the White House, or in meetings with heads of state and other delegations.

    • sendepause says:

      + 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000!
As well as her husband! To install family and friends in powerful/key position is one of the first signs of autocracy!

  62. aenflex says:

Has anyone stopped to think that perhaps as his daughter, she’s not complicit but actually a victim of being his child? A victim who has been indoctrinated from a young age in the arts of sexism, misogyny, narcissism, greed and nepotism? From both parents?
She’s expected to have control and make intelligent, moral decisions and/or stands, but why is that expected of her? Why would we expect any less or more from her? She was raised by Ivana and Donald Trump. Why is there so much surprise that she behaves a bit like both of them?

Victims of crime and domestic violence are forgiven and understood. But what about victims of narcissistic, evil parents? Why are the expectations so much higher for them to make healthy, moral choices?

  63. NotSoSocialButterfy says:

She’s changed her face, but is still ugly on the inside. Jesus, the venomous, challenging look on her face after “…then I’m complicit.”

A couple before and afters on this hypocrite:http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/761241/Ivanka-Trump-plastic-surgeryhttp://slimcelebrity.com/author/slimcelebrity/page/2/

So his daughter was only dateable, in his estimation, after she completely altered her appearance. Sad! Bigly!
