Tori Spelling: ‘I have a house fetish, we’re on the hunt for a big home’

I had the chance to read Tori Spelling’s Hello! interview, which is probably the same as her People interview as I recognized some of the quotes from the online edition of People. There were some gems in there, particularly since we’ve learned that she’s broke after the IRS raided her and her husband, Dean McDermott’s, checking account to pay for substantial back taxes. Dean also owes over $110k in back child support to his first wife, Mary Jo Eustace, with whom he has an 18 year-old son, and is trying to delay his scheduled repayments. Tori and Dean just welcomed their fifth child, Beau Dean, last month and the interview and photospread is to celebrate little Beau’s arrival. The interview is full of Tori’s justifications for her lifestyle.

She’s making a pilot for a new reality TV show
All my fans are missing seeing the kids on a daily basis. I have two very distinct sides that pull on each other day to day. Part of me just wants to be a stay-at-home mum and the other part wants to run a business empire. It’s a real struggle. But my ideal would be to work from home.

She’s renting an estate in San Fernando Valley
I have a bit of a house fetish – I love the whole experience of finding the perfect place. We’re a big family and we’re on the hunt for a big “forever” family home. I grew up in just two houses, and one of them until I was 16, so it was a lovely feeling, knowing that I had a childhood home. [Our place now] has an amazing energy. A backyard they can run in with lots of space, where they can be safe.

[From Hello! Magazine, print edition]

Tori of course grew up in the biggest mansion in LA County, the daughter of TV magnate Aaron Spelling, and if you’ve never seen the insane home she grew up in, here’s a link to a video. There was a bowling alley, a barber shop, several gift wrapping rooms, rooms dedicated to her mom Candy’s collections of various items including dolls and beanie babies, and massive amounts of storage for all the stuff Candy had. Tori learned how to spend and live from her mom and she never shook that, despite inheriting “only” $800k from her dad and being expected to make due with that. She didn’t, she’s still struggling, she’s still trying to sell a lifestyle she can’t afford and she’s still living deep in denial. I bet that TV pilot she’s working on is just something she’s putting together to pitch to networks, and I would be surprised if she gets a bite, but we’re talking about her a lot lately, so we’ll see.

calling your addiction to consumption a fetish doesn’t make it better or make you relateable.
cultivate a fetish for fiscal responsibility you twit.

  2. Neelyo says:

Their new home is going to be the hoosegow the way they’re headed.

    • Lady D says:

The IRS yanked $707 thousand+ out of their bank account on Monday. Those assholes had the money to completely pay off his child support, get a gd vasectomy, and still have $600 grand for a down payment. They deserve jail.

      • Christin says:

Wonder if she got a settlement after suing a restaurant following her Easter 2015 escapade of ‘falling’ into a grill?

      • S says:

That was the amount of the debt they owed … Not the amount they confiscated. The IRS took what they had. I SERIOUSLY doubt it was enough to pay off their debt. If they had even close to that kind of cash, they would have already paid it, because the IRS don’t play and, idiots though they are, they had to know that.

      • Suzy from Ont says:

He’s Canadian, so if he came back to Ontario for his vasectomy, it would cost them nothing…zero, it’s covered by our Province’s health insurance plan that every Canadian has. So the BS about how they can’t afford for him to get a Vasectomy is just that BS. I feel really bad for his older son and ex-wife. It must be very frustrating to see them all living such a lavish lifestyle while he owes all this back child support!

      • Madailein says:

Lady D: Agreed. I have not one dreg or degree of sympathy for her. Her pampered, wealthy childhood made her feel perpetually special and entitled, but now she’s a not-as-rich adult woman w many children to put first financially (and in other ways, of course) and she simply refuses to accept it. She’s NOT special; money does not make one inherently unique, only gives one unique privileges, and now that her second hand vast wealth is mostly gone, she still feels like she’s somehow naturally deserving of more “stuff” than most other people have, and continues to spend as though she had the money to do so. Cannot stand this profoundly unattractive, spoiled brat posing as a woman; all her plastic surgery has made her look,, to me, less waxen than like something produced by a taxidermist, poorly–the face a little bloated and distended. She appears as stuffed as a piñata; unfortunately, there is nothing more substantial than an enormous volume of hot air inside her.

      • Lady D says:

@s, the article was on the MSN home page news section and it clearly stated the IRS took $707,638.00 from their bank account to cover part of their IRS bill.

  3. Something is…wrong with this one.

  4. RussianBlueCat says:

She and Dean will be in a big house(prison) if they don’t settle their tax problems

  5. minx says:

Talk about living in la la land.

  6. Chaine says:

“All my fans”—who in earth are they? Are there really so many of them that we can use the word “all” to describe them?

    • Giddy says:

I think there are only 3 of them, so she can say “all” instead of “both”.

    • AmyR says:

Out of curiosity I looked up her FB page to see who these fans are. I don’t know what surprised me more: that she has close to 950K fans, or that six people on my friends list are fans!

    • TwistBarbie says:

Also saying her fans are missing out on seeing her kids on a daily basis. That is so incredibly messed up. I’m not a mother, but I can’t imagine trotting my children out as entertainment for the masses as if they were a zoo attraction. That is really sick.

      • holly hobby says:

No, I’m not interested in looking at her kids.

      • sendepause says:

THIS x 1000000000000000000! The kids can´t consent to be paraded around on reality shows and on red carpets. They need a real childhood, not some crazy made-up tv drama, just because mommy needs a new designer wardrobe and a hause she can´t afford.

      • Lucy2 says:

She and Dean have nothing else to offer.
I feel bad for the kids.

    • kNY says:

They’re probably the same people that want to know what’s going on with the Gosselin kids or the Duggar clan. These people exist. I can’t really talk because I follow dogs on Instagram and when one died suddenly, I cried like a weirdo.

    • tigerlily says:

I wondered about the “fans” too. Seriously who would watch this vapid twat or her loser husband?

  7. Chelly says:

Randy is a life coach who learned how to scale it down & live a modest life a LONG time ago. I wonder if he’s ever tried to intervene, or just said “shes my mother’s daughter she won’t change, she won’t listen”. It’s pretty sad

    • AnotherDirtyMartini says:

I forgot there was another Spelling kid!

    • Christin says:

He was smart to distance himself and create a different life.

If Candy is such a careless spender, maybe he realized his eventual inheritance was probably going to dwindle anyway. I think his sister believes people will forever want to see her or her kids, which is a tad delusional.

    • Cacec04 says:

Wow, I wondered what happened to him and just looked up a video. He seems like a very grounded and insightful person now which is nice to see. It just makes it more clear that Tori has no more excuses for why she can’t “adjust” to living within her means.

  8. ElleBee says:

Perhaps she should buy a clue

  9. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

“All my fans are missing seeing the kids on a daily basis.”

To me, this screams of delusion & diva behavior…but I guess she must have fans. 🙄

    • Mia4s says:

      Not just that, it’s disgusting!

She’s literally admitting she can’t wait to pimp out her kids’ private lives for money and attention. Oh the public wants it! That’s nice, what about what your kids want? Or what is best for them? What a thing for those kids to read in a few years, mommy admitting you were a meal ticket.

      • anna says:

exactly. shame on her. and shame on him, to neglect his first kid. i wasn’t even aware of exactly how much child support he owes. it’s disgusting and shameless and just plain wrong. i can`t even look at his smug fuc*face.

  10. QQ says:

She is truly such a ridiculous person… also a Textbook case of a couple things:

    A) When your Parents give you zero cognition of how money works and enable you most of your life and that safety net falls and you’ve got ZERO skills besides liking attention ( this could be a poor or rich person issue TBH)

    B) When you get no attention from dudes but you seek this (cause mom and pops always ingrained things about looks to you, so Looks and looks derivatives greatly matter to you) and then that one Sneaky Predatory Scumbaggy type sees through that and knows his mark has arrived… but he just wanted sex on the low low.. and maybe money too, y not?( see Cibrian, E) … but YOU Clingy Girl, Have found YOUR mark *Mwahahahaahah Evil laugh fade out*

    • Mia4s says:

      Ugh, so true!

I often wonder how naive she is. Like, does she understand that her husband most likely only stays because he has no other option? I mean, other than getting a real job? I’d say that if Candy dies and they don’t get a big amount he’d be out the door but I don’t think he will. If he can’t afford child support for one he sure as hell can’t for 5! Does she know all this or does she really believe this is true love? Honestly I’m not sure!

    • Bejkie says:

The weird thing is, to point A) it seems like Candi/Candy whatever, seems to value that money. So why she never taught her daughter..who knows. The dad knew how to make it and the son seems normal and fiscally responsible. It’s a puzzle why Tori is so cliche ‘Hollywood kid’ with it all..but it may all just play into your point B), it’s about keeping the scumbag grifter dude that she doesn’t think she’s good enough for. But seriously, popping out kids left and right is Not helping the situation lady

      • AreYouForReal? says:

Candi sucks, too, because she constantly bails her out of her messes (maybe to avoid second-hand embarrassment), so Tori keeps doing this shyt (running up debt she has no money to pay). At this point, they’re just waiting for Candi to die so they can inherit the money she won’t give them directly in life.

The best thing she could do is leave it all to charity.

      • QQ says:

Ya’ll can you Imagine if she leaves it to the brother charity, the 11 kids of whatever in Trust stipulating Tori and Dean CANT be administrators or whatever and Nothing else?!?!?! My. God!.. And let’s face it, She is Petty Enough to go that route

      • anna says:

is it petty? or is it the right thing to do?

      • S says:

My take, from what little I know of the family, is that Candy is just as bad, or worse, than Tori, but Aaron Spelling left such a fortune that it’s literally impossible for her to deplete, not that she isn’t actively trying.

When she sold the mega-mansion she “downsized” to some crazy 20,000 sq. ft. (or something equally ridiculous I refuse to Google it) penthouse that included 4 or 5 thousand feet of “storage space” for all her junk.

        They’re basically wealthy hoarders.

      • Imqrious2 says:

@S, she lives down the street from me, on Avenue of the Stars, in Century City. Here’s a link to the property; Candy owns the two top floors: http://www.relatedsales.com/luxury-condominiums/los-angeles/the-century

She already sued the management because the on premise restaurant wasn’t completed quickly enough after she moved in. Lovely person.

    • Christin says:

Dean and Eddie really are cut from the same cloth, with their current wives equally matched in the delusional department.

I don’t understand why Mary Jo fell for sweaty Dean’s sob story outside that courtroom.

  11. t.fanty says:

Who the hell is giving this family a mortgage? Or even a rental lease?

    • minx says:

That was my thought. You know they aren’t paying cash for a house, who would give them a mortgage?

    • paddyjr says:

If Candy is paying for the kids, she’s probably on the lease or mortgage. But, yeah, with their money issues being so public, I wonder who would want to deal with them.

  12. Char says:

Does anyone who is familiar with wills know if there was a way for Aaron Spelling to stipulate in his will that he was leaving his kids with x amount of money & the rest to Candi, but after she passes the rest goes to their kids? Could he do that & it be 100% certain, where Candi couldn’t change it on her end after his passing? I just wonder because Tori lives like the money is hers anyways. Maybe she is just counting on her mom not wanting to put her grandkids in “the poor house” (AKA regular people living) or if she knows she will be getting half of all her parents money after her mom is gone.

    • WhatThe says:

He has probably left it in a Irrevocable Trust with Candy as the current beneficiary. It was a massive amount of money and property, so I’d be surprised if he left it to her outright in case a gold digger found his way into her life. I doubt she’s the Trustee herself. Probably being overseen by a corporate trustee as well. I would bet that when Candy dies, the kids and any grand kids could get discretionary payments of principal and income only to keep them from frittering it away. Or maybe it’s all going to charity when she dies. It’s called controlling your money from the grave.

      • Giddy says:

Wouldn’t you hate to work in the trust department of a bank or brokerage firm and be assigned to handling Tori? Can you imagine how many times a day Tori would be calling for money? First that voracious beast-woman would act whiny, then demanding, then “let me speak to your boss.” And the boss would refuse to take her calls, so they would get routed back to you. Dante would have added that as another circle of hell.

    • Leslie says:

From what I understand from making my own Will, once the money has gone to your beneficiary then it’s theirs to do with what they want. So then their Will takes over once they’re dead. You can ask them to leave it to a certain person or whatever, but they are under no obligation to. It’s theirs at that point.

    • caitlinsmom says:

No. Not through a will. Possibly through a trust. But it depends on how he left the assets at death.

    • M4lificent says:

My ex-brother-in-law’s grandparents set up a trust that limits the amount of money that each generation can claim. I believe that he and his siblings and cousins are only allowed their share of profits from the stocks (grandma had original stock in IBM) — and are not allowed to touch the principal, which is managed by trustees. But that is in New York, so California may have different rules.

    • Char says:

Thanks everyone. The trust thing makes sense. I do feel bad for Tori’s kids if the money is left to them & not her, because she’ll be trying to find ways around that for the rest of her life.

We had a family friend that died unexpectedly when I was a teen. He was divorced from the mother of his kids & had already paid her whatever she was due in alamony, but he had always felt guilty about his part in their divorce, so he left her money in his will. Money that was just for her, not including the money he left his children. She had the nerve to be mad that it wasn’t more & went about trying to contest the will to see if she could get more money (again, he was being generous & didn’t have to leave her anything). She finally had a lawyer tell her that in contesting the will, she was basically suing her children (none of who, were adults yet). That at least was enough for her to leave well enough alone, but I can see Tori doing whatever she has to to get her hands on more of her father’s money.

  13. Beth says:

People so deep in debt shouldn’t be buying houses and having kids they can’t afford. Fans? Ceiling fans in the houses she shouldn’t buy are the only “fans” she has

  14. Bejkie says:

I thought she was delusional about all her fans “missing seeing the kids on a daily basis”, then I peeped her instagram. All the people fluffing her with fawning comments are playing into her fantasy. I don’t understand people. Why would anyone be a fan of this irresponsible, entitled woman, her husband or her poor kids? The adults need to wake up to reality. How are you going to afford a huge new “forever” home if you can’t manage your bills? Why the hell would you bring a new child into this mess? And I’m sorry, but the 4 kids you already had look miserable, unkempt and unhealthy.

    • eggyweggs says:

I checked it out based on your comment. I am shocked that she’s got so much traction, but my guess is there are a lot of 90201 fans following her. And she gets a lot of advertisers AND she works her kids into the ads. WOW. There are cats with more interesting IG accounts. Heck, *my* cat has a more interesting IG feed.

    • Pinetree13 says:

“And I’m sorry, but the 4 kids you already had look miserable, unkempt and unhealthy.”

      Cosign

      • Dani says:

“And I’m sorry, but the 4 kids you already had look miserable, unkempt and unhealthy.”

Right!? I wanted to make a comment about them but didn’t want to be callous. You said it much better than I could have. FFS pathetic just reeks from Tori and her husband. I have so much second hand embarrassment.

  15. Eleanor Roosevelt says:

Face fillers, plastic surgery and pregnancy do not mix well. What a shame.

  16. Merritt says:

I feel bad for all of the kids involved in this mess. Tori and dean are people who choose to be irresponsible. His ex and the child he had with her deserve the child support he owes them.

  17. thaliasghost says:

It becomes obvious from the video that she got it from her mother who claims the house got so big because she didn’t understand that if she changed the measurements on the blueprint, yes the house would be built that way.

Interestingly, no one ever asks how Candy earned it. A grown woman who fills rooms with dolls and beanie babies and is proud that every room in her house passes the ‘white glove test” but surely has never cleaned it herself. It’s time that the people who rightly make fun of Tori start including this woman. All I ever remember about her is that she was greatly troubled that she wasn’t as pretty as her husband’s mistresses and projected that on her daughter.

    • huckle says:

C’mon. Tori’s a grown woman now with 5 children and you can’t blame Candy anymore. Candy was married for many years to Aaron Spelling and dealt with whatever ups and down went along with that. She helped him earn that fortune, he didn’t do it by himself. Besides, Candy wasn’t her only parent.

    • winter says:

She was the man’s wife that’s how she earned it and she comes from a family with money .

  18. L84Tea says:

It’s amazing. She was banking all those years on inheriting Daddy’s money, and wow did that backfire on her.

  19. Canadian Becks says:

I have wondered if she ever calls up Candy and drops hints like, “As soon as Dean clears out that cobwebby basement storage room, your granddaughters and grandsons will no longer have to share a room now that there’s 7 of us, and we’re so excited that outdoor port-a-potty is finally coming so that the 7 of us will finally have more than 1 toilet…”

From the world that Candy inhabits, where I imagine your peers boast about exotic vacations, lavish mansions, and compare notes on what their children does for a living, and how brilliant their grandchildren are…..I wonder if Tori and Candy are locked in a contest of wills – like who will blink first to stop the public humiliation.

All the willful spending making a bad situation worse….is it just Tori forcing her mother to be shamed enough to want to throw money at them to stop these deadbeat stories?

    • Char says:

I wonder the same thing. Someone said upthread that Tori & Dean will wind up in prison for failure to pay their taxes & I wonder if that is what Tori is hoping; that it will get so bad that her mom will feel the need to just pay everything off for them. So far it looks like Candy helps her grandchildren, but doesn’t help Tori & Dean, which i don’t think she has to do, but if it gets so bad that both parents could be threatened with jail time, then maybe Candy will change her mind.

  20. lisa says:

she lives really well by most people’s standards

i think if she was happy, she wouldnt be filling the void with all this junk

people talk about her inheritance, but her father employed her for a really long time which was basically like a pro rated inheritance since i dont see anyone else making the same offer

if she wants to be on tv, she should go on with suzy ormond every week

  21. swak says:

How can constantly moving be good for the children? I understand sometimes it is not your choice to move, ie for the military, a job, etc. But just to move because you want to every 3 or 4 years can’t be good for the children. I don’t get it. Guess because I hate moving and they are going to have to bomb me out of where I am now. I’ve moved twice in my life, once when I was first married and then when we bought my childhood home from my mom.

    • Sarah says:

It’s actually worse than moving every 3 or 4 years. Tori moves her children around about every 6 months. That would be hard on children if every other part of their lives were stable, but these poor children have to deal with moving twice a year on top of having a psychotic mother who is in an out of the hospital with random (probably made up) illnesses, a douchebag Dad who cheats on their Mom, parents who have a crumbling marriage that results in Mom having emotional meltdowns in front of the kids and both parents fighting in front of the kids and sometimes even fighting about the kids in front of the kids (per their reality show), constant financial stress from their parents’ debts, their Mother calling the paparrazzi to stalk them (and now trying to put them on another reality show – not to mention shilling out every moment of their lives on Instagram, her website, Facebook, and in the books she writes), a constant parade of nannies in their lives (at last count, they had 3), and constant new siblings being added to the family. Those kids are up shit creek without a paddle. It will be a miracle if any of them make it out of that house with even a shred of sanity intact.

  22. Dolkite says:

Can someone remind me what she does for a living? Is she an actress? The only thing she’s known for is a show that went off the air like two decades ago and even then, everyone figured she got the part because of her dad.

    • sendepause says:

Tori wants you to know that she auditioned for her part in BH90210 calling herself a different name. And she also helped her dad with the scripts and stuff. Clearly, nothing was handed to her! *side eye*

    • Marianne says:

I think she does the occassional lifetime movie too…

  23. Disco Dancer says:

She needs to adopt a “paying her bills” fetish. Let go of the “baby making” and “house hunting”‘fetishes, honey.

  24. Anastasia says:

I watched that video of the Spelling mansion.

    1. I hope that was a long time ago, because those furnishings are seriously dated.
    2. Several hundred people could live modestly off the money she could get from her doo-dads and creepy dolls.
    3. Candi has had TOO MUCH done to her face!

  25. naomipaige says:

I know it’s terrible to say, but she is absolutely hideous looking. BARF!!!

  26. S says:

OK, first, and trust me, I’m sad that I know this off the top of my head … But Tori didn’t actually grow up in the mega-mansion Spelling Manor. I don’t think they moved there until she was almost out of the house.

As for the rest of it … What a ridiculous twit! Though I’m not a reality TV show fan generally, I’ll cop to a former roommate getting me into watching her early reality series with Dean and, though I despised the way they got together (both the cheating and the gross displays), really found them a sweet, entertaining couple. (It also helped that it came on the heels of that short-lived, but really smart and fun, and wholly self-deprecating So Notorious.) And then it just went downhill from there. TMI. Failed businesses and friendships. So very many babies. The potentially fake cheating and utterly embarrassing sort of schlock you expect from a Celebrity Rehab-level show that isn’t even entertaining to watch as train wreck TV. All goodwill turned to disgust and I’m embarrassed to admit I was ever taken in even slightly by these talentless grifters.

So, umm, yeah, NO ONE is “missing” seeing your kids, you dolt! I realize you’ve always relied on family to provide a living for you — first your father, now your mom & kids — but they’re you’re offspring, not your meal ticket. They’re not celebrities, they’re elementary school students … Or should be.

You have no money. You can’t buy a house. Learn to live within your means. Stop pretending to be something you’re not because, frankly sweetheart, you’re not a good enough actress to pull it off.

Sooo so sick of her blaming her father’s “small” inheritance of almost a million dollars for not being enough, or growing up with expensive tastes or whatever the excuse du jour may be. You were on a stupid, but wildly successful, TV show for a DECADE. A show that, let’s be real here, was as much a gift from your papa as the $800k he left you in his will. If you’d shown even a HINT of self-restraint and common sense you could have lived comfortably for a lifetime on what you earned and inherited. My level of sympathy for this entire clan is -1,000,000.

  27. Doris says:

Tori is anorexic & likes to be pregnant so she can finally eat. What she did to her “husband” by pretending he had an affair & making a fool out of him forever, while his teenage son from Mary Jo had to watch, that was criminal. Many of us came from great money or other better circumstances but we are not pimping out our mates or children to get by. She could have graduated from college with an MA in something by now and could have started her own computer business or something. She has no looks or talent, but she is a master manipulator & would be a great CEO or politician. She will keep on until Dean commits suicide from embarrassment. When she gets pregnant again and has a C section & does not die, then poor Dean’s life will be over for sure. Everytime she is going down mentally, she gets another pet pig which she abuses. She is way way way over maintenance for anyone. Her poor children, the older ones have only a few years before their teenage years & the humiliation they will endure for being her kids. I hope the kids get out, get help. And I am glad Randy escaped this insanity. Mary Jo has a few more terrible years until her son is totally on his own, hiding in some small town USA city from his Dad, Dean Spelling!

  28. Sigh says:

I just want to thwap her on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and yell “No! Bad!” when she says stuff like this. Ugh.

  29. Kat says:

What did she do with all the money she earned from 90210. That show ran for 10 seasons and then wine into syndication. Surely she earned enough to save and invest wisely? I suppose I just answered my own question.

  30. Vox says:

Don’t want to be -that- person but it’s ‘make do’, not ‘make due’. It’s a common mistake.

  31. Lola Lola says:

Disgusting. How dare she say this kind of crap when her husband still owes so much child support? What a slap in the face to the mother of his other child. Such entitlement and callous disregard for people other than herself. Yeah, If there is any karma in this world, Hoosegow for sure.
