Poor Emperor Bigly didn’t get to see his BFF Tom Brady at the White House

I’ve already talked about how terrible it felt to watch the Patriots win the Super Bowl this year. It mostly felt terrible because of the political situation, in that Donald Trump loves the Patriots, loves Tom Brady, loves Robert Kraft and loves Bill Belichick. He loves them because they are “winners,” and they love him because… who knows? So, the Patriots became the preferred team of white supremacists and the whole thing felt icky. After the Pats won, several Patriots stepped up and said that they had zero interest in going to the Trump White House. Tom Brady – a Trump supporter and friend – tried to make everything seem like it was super-apolitical, but then again… he refused to the go the White House when Obama was in office.

In the end, the Patriots did go to the White House, only several teammates did skip out. Tom Brady was one of them! Brady issued a statement ahead of the Pats’ visit, saying:

“I am so happy and excited that our team is being honored at the White House today. Our team has accomplished something very special that we are all proud of and will be for years to come. Thank you to the President for hosting his honorary celebration and for supporting our team for as long as I can remember. In light of some recent developments, I am unable to attend today’s ceremony, as I am attending to some personal family matters. Hopefully, if we accomplish the goal of winning a championship in the future years, we will [be] back on the South Lawn again soon. Have a great day!”

Brady’s mother is battling cancer, so he legitimately has some family stuff he’s dealing with. Then again, he’s the co-chair of this year’s Met Gala and I bet he won’t cancel on that. My guess is that someone told him he should not be in any more photos with Agent Orange.

Guess who did come out to the White House? GRONK. He even interrupted Sean Spicer’s briefing.

Also: this Patriots gathering was not as BIGLY as Obama’s Patriots gathering. *chuckle*

And Trump was petulant–never mentioned Brady’s name.

    • vauvert says:

He also looks completely unhinged in photos. At what point are the GOP going to admit that they have been swept up in the train of a lunatic and cut their losses?

    • doofus says:

but one of the guys he DID single out and call by name to step forward wasn’t there!

*pointing and laughing like Nelson Muntz*

I honestly think that Giz “put her foot down” and he agreed that he needs to distance himself. she tweeted about an anti-trump rally at same time this ceremony was going on.

  2. Tate says:

I think Brady’s PR people told him no more photos with President Twitler. It is not a good look for anyone.

  3. Clare says:

Trump has shown again that he should be a D-list WWE commentator, not the Pres.

  4. sun says:

that someone has to be Gisele

  5. anna says:

i LOVE these comparison photos. no matter what it is, inauguration, easter egg roll, sports team reception, 45 always loses. sad!

    • Tiffany27 says:

Right! And I’m so happy about it because it pisses off 45 so much!!

    • Tate says:

And you know it drives him absolutely insane!!

    • Kitten says:

      LMAO

    • Esmom says:

I know. But of course people are making excuses, saying the photos aren’t apples to oranges comparisons because the previous one included staff or something. They cannot concede on ANYTHING. Stubborn, delusional deplorables.

  6. Louise177 says:

I read some reports that Trump tried not to mention any players who weren’t there. It was really hard since the biggest names made the biggest plays and weren’t there. I do wonder how other winning teams will respond. This is a sad showing for such a pro Trump team. Well the coach, owner, and quarterback are.

    • Kitten says:

MY GOD he is such a petulant child. Truly. I know toddlers who are more well-behaved than this orange baby.

      • Lolo86lf says:

You’re right. He is a petulant child. I can only imagine his upbringing. His parents must have spoiled the hell out of him. If they did spoiled him that much then it is not completely his fault the way he behaves as a grown up.

      • Lady D says:

Yeah it is his fault. Once you reach 21 you can no longer blame your parents for your actions. It’s all on you the adult to conduct yourself according to society’s terms. You don’t get to whine, complain and act how you want while blaming mommy and daddy without expecting consequences, once you are an adult.

  7. Mgsota says:

Those pictures are going to haunt Trump all day today. That’s all he’ll be thinking about. How puny the turnout was for him compared to Obama.

I saw a list of donors to his inauguration. The owners of several NFL teams; Patriots, Redskins, Texans, Rams and the Jaguars. Also, Quicken and Bank of America. I told my husband we need to move our mortgage and banking to other companies. I’m boycotting!

    • AreYouForReal? says:

Can’t say I blame them – their donations have paid off already. The first thing he did was roll back regulations!

    • doofus says:

yes, I expect a couple of tweets about his “electoral win” and how Hillary is a crook and how Obama was a terrible president.

    • Turtle says:

I heard about the list of inauguration donors on NPR yesterday. Apparently, the law requires that you disclose how much money was donated, but NOT how it was allocated. It’s obvious Bigly didn’t spent over $100 million on his inauguration, which is double what BOTH of Obama’s inaugurations cost. Can you imagine the screaming if Hillary had collected that much and there was ZERO transparency about how it was spent? There would be hearings already. THE GRIFTING NEVER STOPS.

      • doofus says:

probably went right into his own pocket.

recall, that one of his “rallies” was to raise money “for the vets”…and no donation was ever made until he was shamed into doing it. if no one had pressed him on the donation, he would have kept every penny of what was raised.

  8. Beth says:

I remember Brady saying he wasn’t going before yesterday. He said it quite a while ago! He didn’t go that time when Obama was there because he had lawyers meetings over that proven untrue “deflategate ” sh*t. It had nothing to do with not wanting to see Obama!

Gronk is awesome. I wore my Mrs.Gronk jersey yesterday after I saw what he did to Spicer. Gronk, you rock!

    • INeedANap says:

I’m not mad at Gronk for going. This may sound harsh but he doesn’t seem like the sharpest crayon in the box and I honestly think his life is completely devoid of political considerations. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone had to tell him who the rest of the President’s cabinet were.

      • Beth says:

Would that be good or bad if devoid of political considerations? What he did is something Gronk is known to do. He’s known for being a funny, easygoing, goofy guy who’s always joking around. Being like he is and being one of the best players is why people LOVE and adore Gronk

      • Esmom says:

“I honestly think his life is completely devoid of political considerations.” LMAO.

Beth, I tend to think it’s bad in general because it was people like that who were ill informed and yet still voted. Who, in large part, are responsible for the rise of Trump.

      • Shark Bait says:

I love Gronk. I think he is probably just a himbo, which is fine by me.

      • doofus says:

yeah, not a Pats at all but I do like Gronk. he seems so harmless and fun-loving.

    • Kitten says:

Exactly. I don’t understand why people are making it seem like breaking news–he announced it a while back.
But perhaps people were distracted by the complete and utter destruction of our country at the hands of The Orange Menace.

As I said on the last thread, Tom’s mother is extremely ill so it could have been a combination of Tom wanting to distance himself from Trump AND truly wanting to spend time with his mom.

      • Beth says:

Kitten, people will never believe what we’re saying. It’s true, we know it, but some don’t want to admit Tom is a nice guy. Nobody even knows who he voted for! I’ve been hearing about his sick mom and was so happy to see her at the Super Bowl. She missed every other game. Upsetting that his mom is so sick. It’s great he’s with his mom and family during her tough time

      • Kitten says:

I will NEVER understand the Brady hate. He has always seemed like a total sweetheart to me but eh, all’s fair in love and gossip I guess.

      • Beth says:

Lots don’t want to see the same guy and team winning all the time. They forget all those years we sucked big time! My bf is an Eagles fan. He’s been a Brady and Pats hater for a long time. I’m proud to be a Patriots lover forever no matter what

      • Kitten says:

My BF is a Niners fan, Beth, so I feel your pain. He hates Brady with every fiber of his being but he hates Goodell more, which is our saving grace lol.

      • Shark Bait says:

I have family that are die hard Yankee fans and don’t understand how people could hate Jeter (they do understand how people could hate A-Rod, though). It’s just a thing in sports. I liked Brady up until about 10 years ago because he seemed to have a sour attitude and act like a whiny child. Just my opinion though. I like plenty of other players on the team but I don’t care for Belichick or Kraft. I personally loathe most NFL team owners though. They aren’t exactly the most moral people. I think if people didn’t irrationally hate sports figures, it wouldn’t be as fun!

      • doofus says:

well, I don’t hate him, but I do think he’s a privileged, out-of-touch, dim bulb. and when I say “privileged”, I don’t mean that he’s rich, I mean his behavior is that of someone who is in a “protected class” but doesn’t recognize that he is. his embrace of Drumpf as a candidate is what put that image out there. he said he thought that Drumpf as president would be “great”, not realizing (or, perhaps, caring) how terrible it would be for so many. and it’s an image and quote that a LOT of people remember.

yeah, great football player, but not so much going on upstairs. and I think he’s deliberately obtuse when it comes to world events and anything that goes on outside his little football/modeling/rich man bubble. I think he just doesn’t care what goes on outside his world. And he’s not alone in that “bubble”; plenty of NFL players are insulated like that. compare that with people like Richard Sherman and Larry Fitzgerald who seem so woke when it comes to charity and people less fortunate.

I think a lot of the hate started (disclosure: I am a NY Giants fan) after the Giants beat them in the SB (the first time). His demeanor during the game was one of entitlement. like “hey, I’M supposed to win this, what’s going on here?!” like, he and his team just assumed that they’d win and couldn’t believe the Giants weren’t rolling over and playing dead for them. and this was evidenced by the way Belichick ran off the field before the game was over. sore loser.

      • lol says:

doofus> sorry, i couldn’t read your comment. you sound so ignorant and hypocrite. he is not a trump supporter. he WASN’T supporting Trump when he said he would be a great president.
of course you like gronk… he is ‘harmless’… you think gronk is stupid and boring, right?
but you don’t like tom and I wonder why…. I think you are jealous.

    • JustBitchy says:

Beth, I love that you own a Gronk shirt and even more so that you wore it b

  9. PinkCoconutIce says:

“My guess is that someone told him he should not be in any more photos with Agent Orange.”

Yup, pretty much what I thought. This is just to save face.

  10. Jenns says:

Patriots fans, come get your team. Because the amount of energy that goes into protecting the fragile ego of Trump is ridiculous.

    https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/854858415012806656

The Patriots suck now, forever and until the end of time.

  11. Lolo86lf says:

If the Patriots would have lost the super bowl Donald Trump would have not loved Tom Brady so much. He only associates himself with winners. DT is like fair weather friend. Do you hear him defending Bill O’Reilly anymore? Of course not. O’Reilly is no longer a winner in his eyes. DT disgusts me.

    • adastraperaspera says:

So true! Not getting to suck up to Brady and brag about their friendship and what “winners” they are has to be killing Tr*mp!

      • JustBitchy says:

To the stars through hardship (5 years of Latin pays off), you are totally right.

    • Esmom says:

DT is the ultimate fair weather friend. Truly the worst.

  12. PunkyMomma says:

Gronk crashing Spicey’s briefing is the best play he’s made all year. Watch Cheeto Mussolini offer Gronk an ambassadorship.

  13. RussianBlueCat says:

Slightly off topic , but since Tom Brady is co chair of this year’s Met Gala. It got me thinking has Donald and Melania ever attended the Gala?

  14. Nicole says:

I thought it was funny that the official Pats twitter tried to say the difference was that staff was in the crowd. In reality Obama had 50 players and the cheeto only had 34. That’s a huge discrepancy. But we all know the cheeto threw a tantrum and so his bff bill issued a statement. Which made everything even more hysterical.

  15. Kitten says:

OT but is anyone else in a state of panic over the rumor that Kennedy will be stepping down?
GOP still has the nuclear option which means 5-4 SCJs with GOP majority. This will be a FAR bigger fight than Gorsuch.

    We are f*cked you guys.

    • adastraperaspera says:

I would do anything to have a chance for dinner with RBG, to hear her take. Also think Gor-suck is going to get a good hazing at their next SC family lunch, for being such a jerk. The situation since Roberts took over the court is horrifying. I thought I would have a heart attack when he peeled back voting rights. Not to mention Citizens United. If the Cheeto gets to pick another justice, I will need to soak in a thousand hot tubs to calm down!

      • doofus says:

and apparently one of the Justices (can’t remember which but it was one of the more conservative ones) was getting frustrated with Gorsuch because he didn’t understand basic law concepts and had to be told that no, you DON’T just go with the most basic and simple interpretation of the law…that there are many facets and previous cases that you have to consider…yeah, we are f*cked.

      • Kitten says:

It’s so effin scary. I wish people were as focused on this as they are on the Russia collusion and tax return issue. Not that those things aren’t important, just that the Supreme Court has such a strong impact on American lives. We should all be very worried that a bad situation will get exponentially worse.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

Agree. No matter how much anti-Clinton propaganda people were exposed to/willing to buy into, the fact of the matter was always that the next president was going to have at least 1 Supreme Court appointment. Clinton’s choices were always going to be more liberal/moderate than those of Trump and today’s Republicans. What do people think the Court does? It is the primary shaper of/responder to changing American values. And it was the combination of Citizens United & the repeal of key provisions of the Voting Rights Act that resulted in today’s emerging autocracy/kleptocracy.

    • Shark Bait says:

I am terrified at that prospect. They are so effing OBSESSED with abortion and women’s rights. Obsessed as in setting it all back. Ugh.

  16. Bridget says:

Side note: I was at the Boston Marathon expo this pst weekend, and guys with Gronk Fitness were there too, showing something or other. They looked EXACTLY like what you’d think they would – big, beefy, slightly vacant guys wearing urban camp pants.

  17. Christin says:

Last night on CNN, one player (A. Branch) explained why he chose not to go. He said it was because of orange’s past comments about women. Why take time away from his family to go meet the guy and shake his hand?

I really liked his interview. He was calm yet firm about his personal reasons for not going.

  18. grabbyhands says:

I don’t even care what the reason was for Brady’s absence (although I hope his mom is okay)-Bigly was denied a winners photo op with his Aryan prince and you know that has got to burn his ass in the best way.

The NYT picture comparison is petty as hell and I am here for every second of it. Like, Joanne the Scammer levels. I’m only surprised that there wasn’t some 3AM tweet about the “failing” NY times doctoring their pictures. Maybe Kushner stepped in “Look, whatever you do, DO NOT respond. Ignore it. PLEASE”.

  19. SusanneToo says:

This is trump’s true constituency. Loved what one poster said – “WH Chef asks, ‘How do I cook squirrel?'”

I noticed in 2015 the flowers on the balcony were alive…I don’t see any sign of flowers 2017..hmmmm

ETA- yes I know the bushes/plants seem greener in 2017 but still..I’m assumping Dump spends more time up there than downstairs.. 😂

  21. Tiffany says:

To the players that did go, thank you for showing how a adult wears a suit. They were immaculate yesterday. And if that pissed off Tangerine as well, I am for it.

  22. Michelle says:

Why do they still have this? It doesn’t seem like it’s as big a deal anymore like it used to be. Why do they wait so long to do it? I would have thought that it would have been done in February, not April. Since the Cubs won the world series, do they get to go to the White House too? Just curious. As much as I can’t stand Tom Brady, I wish his mother well in her battle.

    • cr says:

The Cubs did their WH visit the last week of January, before Obama left. They moved it up, it normally would have been done when the Cubs were in town to play the Nationals. I think Obama asked for that, and the team said yes. And the primary owner of the Cubs is a Trump supporter.

    • Lightpurple says:

The Cubs went. NHL and NBA teams and Olympians do too

  23. robyn says:

As long as you kiss his feet Trump’s your friend I guess like most dictators. Don’t know about Brady but I sure liked what Alan Branch had to say last night on Don Lemon. Family and decency over the “glory” of a visit with the so-called president.

  24. Taylor says:

It was well reported that Tom’s mother is dying of cancer and this week came to visit him and spend time as a family. No shade there at all, and given the nature of his mother’s illness, he made the right choice.

  25. Jayna says:

Giselle laid down the law, so he didn’t go.

  26. Mary says:

to funny, he really wanted that photo op.

  27. why? says:

Now Trump is having the Patriots organization do what he had Nunes do. Instead of just accepting the fact that Obama had a bigger turn out from the Patriots than he did, Trump had his BFFS lie. Seeing as how Trump is BFFs with one of the coaches, the press should not be surprised that the Patriot’s twitter account “corrected” NYT. So now they want us to believe that Obama had more people in his photo because they were staff, who for the 2017 photo “were seated in a “different” section instead of standing on the stairs? The last time Trump tried to reverse manufacture support for himself, it resulted in Nunes having to recuse himself, being investigated for leaking classified information, and exposed as a liar.

  28. lol says:

You know he is not a Trump supporter. I’m tired of reading your stupid stories.

  29. why? says:

Here we go again. Some people in the press are patting Trump on the back for being “presidential” because…he didn’t trash talk Kim Jong-un when a reporter called him mentally ill. Why does the press set the bar so low for Trump that small little things like not trash talking Kim Jong-un, result in the press labeling him presidential? The only reason Trump didn’t trash talk Kim Jong-un today was because the press made fun of Trump for not even knowing who Kim Jong-un was(Trump referred to him as “this gentleman” and then talked about how Clinton’s peace deal with him didn’t work, which many pointed out was impossible considering that Kim Jong-un was a teenager when Clinton made that deal and that Clinton and Obama were dealing with 2 different people) and then the skit on SNL in which Trump(Alec Baldwin) called Kim Jong-un, crazy, unstable, narcissistic, and has crazy hair while Pence stands in the background shaking his head because the same description can be applied to Trump.

Ivanka’s role in the WH is to use the press to normalize her father. What’s even worse is how these people were calling Trump presidential even after he contradicted what Tillerson said and all of the crazy tweets he put out today and yesterday. Today Trump claims that Iran wasn’t holding up to the deal, but yesterday, Tillerson reported that they were. I wonder if Trump once again was confusing one country for another just like he did when he said he sent 59 missiles to Iraq(instead of Syria) and thought that Clinton and Obama were dealing with the same person.

Today is Thursday, let’s hope that “Ivanka” doesn’t talk her father into bombing someone else this week just so that he can get positive feedback from the press.

Why does DT always look like he is about to bite something? Do his dentures hurt?
