Zoe Saldana in Pucci at the ‘Guardians 2’ LA premiere: lovely or tragic?

Here are some photos from last night’s LA premiere of Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a film which is probably going to make a bajillion dollars in one week. Critics have already gotten to see the movie and they say it’s one of Marvel’s best so far. So… at least Zoe Saldana will stay employed, I guess. Please, Marvel, keep her busy so she doesn’t try to play Nina Simone again. Zoe is sort of known for wearing strange, unique and attention-getting styles on big red carpets, and wouldn’t you know, her premiere look is getting the most attention. Zoe wore this orange – I guess we would call it “burnt orange” – Emilio Pucci dress. You guys know how I feel about orange and yellow on the red carpet. Very, very few women can make those colors work. Is Zoe one of the few? Well… um… no? I’m sorry, but this dress is f–king awful. And she’s poorly styled – her makeup is struggling and her hairstyle is too tight.

Here’s Hollywood’s current prom king, Chris Pratt, and his wife Anna Faris. Anna wore a Marchesa dress which looks like the fantasy dress of many future prom queens. I don’t know, you guys. I still get weird vibes from this couple.

Elizabeth Debicki is a pale goddess. I love this metallic dress on her. I don’t have the ID on it though.

Karen Gillan in Monse. While I generally enjoy it when the younger girls decide to wear pants to big premieres, this look as a whole is… um…??? LOOK AT HER SHOES!

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. They are messy and crazy and they make me happy.

Sylvester Stallone has a cameo in the movie and he brought out his wife and daughters for the premiere.

Poor Zoe, that dress is a monstrosity. Love the busy bee striped shoes, would’ve looked fab with just yellow or just black outfit.

    • INeedANap says:

I love orange as a color but it’s so hard to make work in clothing. I like using it as a small accent on gray or deep blue outfits. And the dress is hiddy in any color.

  2. Alp says:

SO tragic. Almost everyone here was tbh.

  3. Nikki says:

I adore Karen Gillian’s shoes!! Zoe’s look isn’t great, but we’ve seen lots worse. Odd to have such a flashy dress with no lipstick even..Disliked Anna F’s dress, and her hair style looked casual beach against the pouffy prom queen dress. Meh.

    • Snazzy says:

I actually love Karen Gillian’s whole outfit!! II think it looks amazing. And yes, I’m with you, I totally dig the shoes

  4. SilverUnicorn says:

Ok I like Anna Faris’ dress *ready to be stoned now*

I don’t like that tall other accessory of hers though.

  5. trollontheloose says:

Zoe’s oranges basket bag seems to have a dent on the crotch.. like the designer went midway for a jumpsuit .. it’s awful. just awful. whenever I see the Pratts I see douchebag that got rid of their dogs because for whatever reasons of the moment. Can’t forget this.

  6. Snazzy says:

On another note, I finally saw the old Rocky movies for the first time – 40 years behind schedule, I know – and I can’t believe what Sly has done to his face. I’ll bet if he had left it alone he would have aged magnificently. So sad

  7. NeoCleo says:

I like Zoe’s dress. I couldn’t wear it–doubt many could. But I think she looks good.

    • Carol says:

I like Zoe’s dress as well. Her hair is a little too tight though. Anna Faris looks like she is going to the prom. Not liking it

  8. Hikaru says:

Gillan’s Hufflepuff heels are everything, bite me :p

Black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow… uh-huh, you know what it is

  9. astrid says:

Goldie needs to stop messing with her face

  10. Mia4s says:

Those shoes!! And Elizabeth Debicki is always worth a mention…oh and I like that Kurt Russell looks like he doesn’t give a f**k….and yeah, that’s about all that’s worth mentioning!

  11. Zuzus Girl says:

The dress is wearing her and does nothing to accentuate her lovely features.

  12. Oriane says:

    I don’t know, I find Zoe’s dress quite appropriate for a sci-fi film. And Goldie’s is perfection!
Anna Faris’ dress is a bit much, since she’s just there as ‘wife of’ and it’s not her movie.

  13. bella says:

I love Karen Gillian’s outfit! Super fashiony and very fresh and young! Love it. I also love Elizabeth Debicki in anything, as she is my girl crush. Whenever I see her on the screen, I can’t look away. She has the IT factor like Meryl Streep. Also, I think Goldie looks beautiful. Stallone and all of his girls are just gorgeous! What a beautiful family!

  14. Cheryl says:

    Tragic

  15. L says:

I think Zoe looks great here..not the best look she’s been in but still loving the look. She pulls it off imo. And the yellow and black shoes…love!

  16. Gene123 says:

Pucci never quite gets it right that I can remember. Orange sequined fringe is tragic all around

Kurt & Goldie are just drunk parent fabulous

Stallones daughters are all copies of their mom. Its crazy.

  17. Aysla says:

I LOVE Zoe’s dress. It’s got a sci-fi thing going on with the ‘invisible man’ effect. I just think it looks so fun, cool, and flattering on her. Great pick.

  18. nemera34 says:

Zoe’s hair and makeup are gorgeous. then you look down at the dress and want to weep.

  19. Lucy2 says:

Elizabeth Debicki is gorgeous. The styling on her in the Man from Uncle is amazing.

  20. Luci Lu says:

That dress is stupid and unattractive, and her husband needs to grow up and get haircut, or at least, get those atrocious ragged ends clipped.

  21. poppy says:

what the fringe?!?! the fringe is awful -should have been anything else.

that monse ensemble is amazing and i don’t like black and yellow together in general.

anna ferris, so sad. not even the crappy prom dress. she does not seem well mentally.

and there are a lot of precautionary faces there for anyone thinking there is no such thing as too much “help”. smh

  22. Jenn says:

I kinda like Saldanas dress actually. Not boring at all . That orange isn’t bad on her.

  23. SM says:

    Elizabeth Debicki looks great

  24. Bonnie says:

I actually really liked Zoe Saldana’s look for the premiere. I thought it was appropriate for the event while I wouldn’t have enjoyed it so much at something like the Oscars per se….

Elizabeth Debicki was the best look of the night for me. I love a ‘pale goddess’ in a metallic dress! Her dress is by Bottega Veneta:

  25. Sean says:

Kurt Russell always looks like he is having the most fun at these things. Everyone else looks like they are selling something. Russell just seems like he showed up for the fun of it.
