Ivanka Trump claims she will not promote or profit from her upcoming book

I haven’t discussed Ivanka Trump all week, it feels like. There was the depressing story about how China gave Ivanka’s product line its trademark grants, which basically means that Ivanka can sell all of her sh-t in China now. China gave Ivanka the trademark grants right after she met with the Chinese president at Mar-a-Lago, because that’s not suspicious at all. But Ivanka wants you to know that she’s TRYING to be an ethical person, whatever “ethical” means. I would imagine Ivanka doesn’t know the definition of “ethics,” much like she has no idea what “complicit” means.

Ivanka has a book coming out called Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success. She got this book deal a while back, before she became America’s Complicit and Unethical Princess and the Most Precious Presidential Adviser Ever. And now in an effort to at least have the appearance of ethical behavior, Ivanka wants us to know that she’s not going to promote the book while she’s working for her father, nor will she profit from the book’s sales. The profits will be donated to… her own charitable fund, and then that fund will donate to a worthy cause. She explained it all in a Facebook post:

Empowering women has been central to my mission throughout my career, and with my book, Women Who Work, I hope to do just that. The book equips readers with the best advice, tips and skills I’ve learned over the years from many incredible people, on subjects including identifying opportunities, leading teams, starting companies, managing work and family, and building cultures where multidimensional women can thrive—now and in the future.

Like many other professional women, I have juggled the demands that come with growing my family and building my businesses, and I realize that I am more fortunate than most. In order to extend the reach of those who will benefit from this book, I have established the Ivanka M. Trump Charitable Fund to receive the unpaid portion of my advance and future royalties received from Women Who Work and to make grants to charitable organizations that support the economic empowerment for women and girls.

In the first wave of giving, the Fund will make grants of $100,000 each to the The National Urban League and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, two innovative, forward-thinking organizations that have made it a priority to promote entrepreneurship and educational opportunities for women and girls in underserved communities. With my grant to the National Urban League, the organization will launch a new Women’s Initiative as part of its signature Entrepreneurship Center Program, which currently operates at 13 locations across the country. The Women’s Initiative will focus on giving women the mentorship and tools they need to start and grow successful businesses and achieve economic self-sufficiency.

The grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of America will go toward the organization’s national Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program for girls and underrepresented youth. Women make up half of the total U.S. college-educated workforce, but less than one-third of the STEM workforce. Boys & Girls Clubs’ STEM program and STEM Centers for Innovation are helping produce a generation of STEM-ready youth who are equipped to fill the jobs of the future, become our next generation of innovators and solve our nation’s most critical challenges.

In light of government ethics rules, I want to be clear that this book is a personal project. I wrote it at a different time in my life, from the perspective of an executive and an entrepreneur, and the manuscript was completed before the election last November. Out of an abundance of caution and to avoid the appearance of using my official role to promote the book, I will not publicize the book through a promotional tour or media appearances.

[From Ivanka’s Facebook]

The money is going to the National Urban League and the Boys and Girls Club of America?? Doesn’t Precious Ivanka know that the money might end up going to… (gasp!) black people?? No, that’s what she wanted. That’s part of her faustian bargain of complicity. She announces that the proceeds of her sad (ghostwritten) book will go towards typically liberal non-profits and suddenly if you don’t buy her book, then YOU are the racist. That’s Precious Ivanka being “clever.” You’re not supposed to notice that the proceeds are being filtered through a foundation she set up and which she likely solely controls. And you’re not supposed to notice that she’s only putting a portion of her advance into the fund either. So precious.

But isn’t going on Facebook to talk about a book she wrote still promoting the book?

  2. Sixer says:

“Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success”

Can we just get this straight?

    SHE. DOES. NOT. WORK.
THE. RULES. HAVE. NOT. BEEN. REWRITTEN.

She is a beneficiary of nepotism and elite social closure and any “work” that she does is not “work” as we know it, Jim.

    “en·tre·pre·neur
    ˌäntrəprəˈnər/
    noun
    noun: entrepreneur; plural noun: entrepreneurs
a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.”

She obviously doesn’t know the meaning of entrepreneur either. Daughterwife took on no financial risks using daddydearest’s money.

  4. boredblond says:

    Her rules for success..
Millionaire daddy, who lusts after you, bankrolls venture you have no training or background for
Marry another ‘never had to get a real job’ child of wealth
Get job on daddy’s tv show to get exposure and build brand name

Now, why didn’t we all think of that?

    • SusanneToo says:

Because we’re not completely crass, ethically challenged, and bereft of morals?

  5. Pumpkin Pie says:

I am not buying her book or anything she says. Pun intended.

  6. grabbyhands says:

I can’t believe people keep falling for this shiz. And they do.

She is cut from the same huckster cloth as her father and has learned it all at his knee. And because she is a wealthy white woman, everyone will fall all over themselves to promote her and “give her a chance” including women who should know way better. But white women protect their own, no matter how loathsome.

  7. SusanneToo says:

Does her face even move anymore? Japanese Noh masks have more animation than her plastic mug.

  8. Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Ah but she will profit via the tax breaks she gets from the ‘charitable’ fund. Charitable and the surname Trump don’t go together.

    • Christin says:

Exactly. Just like her brother’s charitable fund that hosts golfing tournaments and supposedly solely benefits St Jude, when any donor can easily donate directly to that children’s hospital.

It’s a tax shelter plus an opportunity to ‘fun’ host events on the charity’s dime.

      • SusanneToo says:

One of trump’s many scams with his charity was to get big bucks donors to fork over a large sum and then(when he didn’t spend it on himself)donate it to an organization in HIS own name. David Fahrenthold of the WaPo did a comprehensive expose on this.

  9. Lisa says:

I guess stealing other people’s designs. getting sweatshops to produce them, slapping your name on them and selling them at massively inflated prices is what allows her to call herself an entrepreneur. And she didn’t have to lift a finger or have any talent. She really is her father’s daughter.

  10. Lightpurple says:

Oh, Princess Nagini the Corrupt of the Most Sacred Horcruxed Vagina! Your donation won’t offset the grants those programs are losing in Orange Voldemort’s budget. And you just promoted your book. And no, Angela Merkel doesn’t need a copy. And knock it off with how “ethical” you are; you violate the rules every second of every day

    • Wow says:

@lightpurple, its insulting to lord voldy to compare ivanka to him. Surely her crimes are worse than his

    • Juls says:

Spot on LP. It won’t make up the difference in the losses for these programs. And yes, she is promoting her book on FB. But I read between the vile lines she is spewing: The proceeds will go to these organizations. But I won’t promote it because ‘ethics.’ So, by not promoting it, it stands to make less money, causing these organizations to suffer further. Punishing organizations she loathes in a sly way. Because if her supporters knew the proceeds were going to these liberal organizations, they might not buy her book? Now my brain hurts. And this is all assuming that she will actually do what she says with the proceeds, which is a stretch. Is it too early for a drink?

  11. Green Is Good says:

The level of corruption, grifting and lying is staggering.

  12. Scal says:

    Insert ‘sure jan’ gif here.

    Lying liars gonna lie.

  13. Kate says:

I loathe that snake. To think people tried to sell her as the calming influence, the good one. Ha

  14. MinnFinn says:

Won’t profit from her book eh? But she still earned money for it in the form of a big fat advance. She would not have written it without an up-front pile of cash.

  15. Squiggisbig says:

what are the odds that whoever runs her charitable organization that’s handling the donation isn’t her or her husband….

  16. Erica says:

I have to say this if Malia or Chelsey did any of this stuff Ivanka is doing while their parents were in office ,the Republicans would have had a fit.I just don’t understand how no one is seeing that this girl is making a ton of money and closing deals that she wouldn’t have gotten before. The whole family has the world looking at us and laughing at this wannabe political dynasty of freeloaders while they charge the taxpayer for everything while they keeping getting richer.

    • Snowflake says:

The Republicans don’t care as long as their goals get accomplished. They will ignore it all until Trump becomes too much of a liability. But for now, their new healthcare plan and other goals are being worked on, so they’re happy.

  17. Beth says:

Yeah right, Princess. She also said she’d just be the daughter and not work for daddy while he is president

  18. hnmmom says:

Book is small potatoes compared to trademarks in China.

  20. Svea says:

The Trump family does not inderstand what truth or reality is. Maybe it is a genetic disorder.

  21. robyn says:

Two peas in a pod, Trump and Ivanka. Seems she is just as corrupt, not above lying and (not in a good way) C O M P L I C A N T. She’s not some ordinary “working” woman … she got tons of help from her dad just like her dad got tons of help from his dad.

  22. Tess says:

She’s not profiting from her position except when she is clearly profiting from her position, got it.
Ps does anyone in China really want to buy her crap? Maybe it’s just me but it seems so Idk imperialistic? Like who in China wants a piece of her and the brand as a whole? I have a hard time seeing how her brand sells in the US because it’s blah, uninspired, and fake but I can see an American woman maybe buying a piece or two that suits her style and price point or supporters buying it. But idk I see Chinese consumers going for foreign brands that have cachet and status, not a brand that screams “American imperialism.”

  23. PunkyMomma says:

Ivanka, if you had a quark (a very tiny sub-atomic particle) of conscience, you would yank that book. As is the case with you and your complicit frame of mind, may I suggest that you donate the gross receipts of your book to Planned Parenthood? Thought not.

  24. lizzie says:

david fahrenthold won a f-ing pulitzer prize for uncovering the corruption in the trump’s practice of “donating” proceeds to charity. THE JIG IS UP IVANKA! YOU ARE MOVING YOUR LIPS SO WE KNOW YOU ARE LYING.

  25. Jayna says:

    “The First Daughter.”

My blood boils when I see articles on her anymore.

  26. Lyla says:

Sure…just like she wasn’t gonna take a role in the administration.

The Drumpf family must smell like smoke 24/7

  27. adastraperaspera says:

Her potential proximity to political power horrified me during the campaign. She is turning out to be even worse than I thought. When we get these children of the corn grifters out of the WH, I will party for days. No, weeks!
