Caitlyn Jenner: ‘Yes I did vote for Trump’ but there’s already a ‘dealbreaker’

Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie promoting the new series of Dr. Who

For weeks now, I’ve been completely avoiding any and all coverage of Caitlyn Jenner and her new book/memoir. She got a book deal last year, and she promoting it around the anniversary of her groundbreaking Diane Sawyer interview. Cait has a new interview with Sawyer which will air tonight on 20/20. In the interview, Caitlyn talks about her politics, which are still nonsensical, convoluted and aggravating. Cait has such a huge platform, and she continuously says the stupidest sh-t about politics and why she votes for Republicans. She tells Sawyer:

“Yes, I did vote for Trump but here’s the deal breaker with the Republican party. And the deal breaker is, you mess with my community, you do the wrong thing with our community, you don’t give us equality and a fair shot, I’m coming after you. When it comes to all equality issues, for the entire LGBT community, what we need is federal guidance. Just like the previous administration said that it was OK to serve as a trans person in the military. We have frontline people, OK? I’m talking Marines, trans guys, on the frontline, fighting for our country. I’m trying to get, especially the Republican party, to make a change.”

“When I was at the inauguration I did say hi [to Trump] at a cocktail party, and he wanted me to play golf with him. At the time I thought it was a pretty good idea but since Title IX it’s not a good idea and so I won’t be playing golf with him.”

[From Us Weekly]

No. Just no. Jesus take the wheel NO. She voted for Trump knowing every vile thing that he said, every vile thing that he promised to do and then she claims that there’s a “dealbreaker.” Why wasn’t all of that other sh-t a dealbreaker? She also tried to explain her political stance to People Magazine in a new interview, saying:

“Here’s the deal: yes, I have always had views that lean more towards the Republican party when it comes to politics (as in) less government, believing in the Constitution and all that kind of stuff. But my loyalties and my fights are not going to be with the Republican party. My loyalties are with my community and fighting for my community. With the Republicans, I keep a very close eye on all the things that are happening – there’s North Carolina (anti-discrimination measures), we’ve got SB6 (‘bathroom bill’) coming up in Texas, all of these things. My fight is for my community and the next generation coming up. I’m very blessed to be able to have a platform where hopefully I can make a difference.”

[From People]

I have no idea why, but let’s do a thought exercise. Let’s say that Caitlyn really and truly believed that Donald Trump has no issue with LGBTQ rights. Let’s say that Trump actually seemed – on these very limited issues dealing with LGBTQ rights – to be a little bit moderate and centrist, especially compared to the rest of the Republican field. Then why would Caitlyn still vote for him when he made Mike Pence his running mate? Pence, who has one of the biggest hate-ons for the LGBTQ community around. What’s that? Oh, it was never about LGBTQ rights? It was only about Caitlyn being a rich white person with enormous privilege and she voted for that privilege? Got it.

I’m sorry but just go die in a corner Caitlyn Jenner, you are the worst opportunist user pos that ever been.

    • velourazure says:

So she’s saying she’s OK with all of the discrimination, fear-mongering and social/financial/environmental destruction perpetrated by 45, except if it’s against trans people?

I don’t care what body parts she’s currently sporting, she’s still a rich, white, republican male cliche.

      • greenmonster says:

My thoughts exactly! Everything else is ok, but do not go against Caitlyn’s community! Don’t you dare! Then Caitlyn is coming after you – whatever that means, I guess she blocks you on Twitter or so.

      • sendepause says:

She is not a “rich, white, republican male cliche”, she is a rich, white, republican woman cliche. No need to be transmisogynist! (Also, there are plenty of white women who voted for Trump.)

This being said, she freaking understands that there are plenty of us LGBTAIQ+ people who are also POC, muslim, jewish, non-neurotypical, disabled, otherwise ill, etc.?

Don´t speak about “your community”, Caitlyn, if you just mean your rich white self and your rich white friends; you don´t actually give a fine fuck about those who are vulnerable on multiple axes of oppression — who desperately need affordable healthcare, safety & justice from police brutality, religious freedom, better immigration laws, affordable housing, work protection, access to homeless youth programs, etc., etc., etc.

So nope, she doesn´t care about “HER” community, if bathroom is her only issue.

      • velourazure says:

Yes, definitely agree, amend my comment. She was and is a rich, white, republican cliche of any and all genders.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

“She is not a “rich, white, republican male cliche”, she is a rich, white, republican woman cliche. No need to be transmisogynist! (Also, there are plenty of white women who voted for Trump.)” This.
And yeah, the fact that she’s ok with Trump and his administration’s treatment of other groups of people as long as they don’t mistreat a specific group she’s a part of just says everything we need to know about her. Nobody can used the ‘desperate, impoverished, innocent Trump-voter’ card on her either- She’s filthy stinkin’ rich and famous, just like Paris Hilton, Tom Brady, John Voight, and all of Trump’s other rich/famous supporters,

      • JRenee says:

And there you have it! Absolutely groundless argument when it’s okay to crap on others…just not my group. Uggh!

      • jwoolman says:

Like most people, she just responds to issues that affect her personally. Which is a pretty limited set, because she’s rich and famous. Occupies a whole different world. Wealth is especially insulating. She won’t be directly affected by anything he does with health care, immigration, Medicare, Social Security etc. and probably doesn’t understand other issues such as climate change, environmental protections, safety regulations etc. well enough to realize she or her children will be impacted.

At least she seems willing to speak up on those issues that do affect her, so the Trumpster has to deal with a rich white Olympian with tv access objecting to some of his policies. That’s A Good Thing.

    • Char says:

She managed to be the worst Kardashian/Jenner. Kylie is Einstein near Caitlyn.

      • Cherrypie says:

Kaitlyn the famewhore. Obviously it runs in the family….I see she has a new book pimping now. smh

    • Pandy says:

Which community? The gated one she lives in??

  2. trollontheloose says:

she got everything handed to her when she was a rich white guy. her mind is still the same: she voted as a person of privilege that just became trans. many didn’t/don’t have this luxury. Many start at a young age and go thru the wheel of mental/physical torture. SO I don’t understand : I know you guys suck especially on LGBT but I’m gonna vote but beware I’m looking at you. the dumbest reasoning.

    • Luca76 says:

She’s trying so hard to hold onto that rich white guy privledge though. They don’t want you Caitlyn. You’re no longer part of their club.

      • Kitten says:

Maybe she’s salty because 45 never came through on his golf invitation.

      • sarah says:

        @ Kitten :
Yeah, that golf with Trump quote really got me too. She said she got an invite at the inauguration and ” At the time I thought it was a pretty good idea but since Title IX it’s not a good idea and so I won’t be playing golf with him.”

WTF? She sounds like some Paris Hilton wannabe turning down an invite to a “cool” party. “Cause I thought it was gonna be a cool party but then Sierra said it wasn’t a cool party. So it’s not a good idea and I won’t be (playing golf) going to that party with him”.

        Sigh.

  3. Lucy2 says:

    I can’t.
    Insert rage screaming.

  4. Kitten says:

Man she is so effin full of sh*t.
Seriously? You thought Trump gave a flying f*ck about the LGBTQ community? You thought Trump cared about WOMEN, Cait?
    Seriously?!?!

I want to scream right now. She is so f*cking privileged and insular it is nauseating.
Meanwhile, 2016 was the deadliest rate of violence against trans individuals, with black trans women the most at-risk. Where was Trump on this issue? Was it part of his platform during the campaign? Did he speak about it at all?!?!?

He rescinded protections for transgender students and proposed drastic cuts in funding for HIV and AIDS research. He nominated Mark Green, a rabid opponent of LGBT people/LGBT rights, to replace Army Secretary Eric Fanning, the first ever openly gay man to hold the post.

He never gave a flying f*ck about the LGBTQ community OR women but Cait didn’t care because “rich businessman” and “tax breaks for the wealthy” (HER).

    Meanwhile HRC: http://www.advocate.com/election/2015/10/06/10-promises-hillary-clinton-just-made-lgbt-americans

God I just CANNOT with this lady.

  5. QQ says:

Girl.. Get the F*ck On somewhere, You managed somehow to squander any possible capping I had in my Good will Stores for you… with your Vapid ass

  6. KJA says:

She thought she would be immune and that it wouldn’t affect her. Now she’ll spin it into solidarity with her community after realising they would never be there for her. Pay attention next time Caitlyn

  7. Bridget says:

Yeah, all of this stuff is TOTALLY BRAND NEW INFORMATION.

  8. Anilehcim says:

Who cares about this self obsessed piece of trash? Did Caitlyn really need to write a book or tell the world that she got rid of her penis? Last I checked, most people from the LGBT community don’t even embrace has as a positive figure in the community. She is a fame whore, just like the rest of her family.

The fact that she voted Republican just goes to show that she is for herself and cares about no one else. But that’s OK, but no one gives a shit about her either.

  9. minx says:

    Surprise surprise.

  10. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

    Idiot!

  11. Paige says:

She’s so obnoxious just like the rest of that family. Please go away! Fake and cares nothing about transgender people.

  12. SusanneToo says:

She didn’t seem terribly bright as Bruce, either.

  13. stinky says:

Oh really?? You’re a fickle bunch here. Y’all had NOTHING BUT LOVE for Caitlyn all along.
    I see thats changed.

    • KJA says:

You can celebrate a trans woman transitioning late in life and living her truth, and then criticise her later when it becomes apparent that she remains incapable of seeing past her privilege and votes for people that threaten the rights of the community she sees herself as an activist for. Nothing fickle about it tbh

    • Kitten says:

Not me, man. I’ve always been a dissenter lol.
And peeps got mad at me for it but shitty people are shitty, regardless of their gender identity.

    • Kristen820 says:

I don’t really think that’s the case. I think it was brave for her to come out as trans, and I support and respect that decision. However, I never stopped believing that, regardless of which gender she identifies as, she’s a selfish, privileged, and entitled a**hole…

    • Bridget says:

If by “all along” you mean “not at all” then you’re right.

    • minx says:

      Huh? Not true.

    • markweer says:

I don’t really remember people celebrating Bruce/Caitlyn’s transition. It was met with fanfare YES, but people were very VERY cautious about her given Bruce’s/Caitlyn’s history with family, friends, fame etc. The LGBQT in particular (which welcomed her as it usually does with anyone who is COMING OUT) kept one eye open. Further, being fickle in this case sure played out well because Caitlyn sure as hell wasted no time in showing us that her new face (& boobs, & va-jay-jay) had the same foul white privileged male behind it

    • SusanneToo says:

Actually, I didn’t like Bruce and never gave a flip about Caitlyn. Just another fameho kardashian. I never bothered to comment before.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

      Um….No…
People on here supported her transition and criticized misgendering and transphobia against her, but the general consensus was still that she was a vapid, privileged, fame-loving Jenner/Kardashian, irresponsible, not a good parent, clueless and out-of-touch with reality, and most likely a Trump-supporting republican fool.

    • AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Untrue, Stinky. Many people, self included, didn’t like Bruce. Supporting his right & efforts to become Caitlyn is different. She didn’t get a personality transplant.

Gender reassignment: I still support it for anyone.

  14. Sigh... says:

The Party kept a telephone pole’s distance from Caitlyn from jump. A wave & pantomime “Call me” from across the room at a party does not make you a political insider as much as a (barely) tolerated presence.

  15. Twinkies says:

Bruce was a selfish asshole. Caitlyn is a selfish asshole. Transitioning doesn’t absolve someone of being an asshole. Attempting to erase personality traits (positive or negative) from someone because they are trans is a disservice to their wholeness as a person.

  16. markweer says:

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it forever, Caitlyn is the worst of the worst. She was horrible as a man, she is horrible as a woman which equals she always been & always will be a horrible human being. The sad part about her is if she were more hateful and bitter about Republicans treatment of, everyone who isn’t white old & male I’d give her a sliver of credit, but she continues to be sh!tty and oblivious, as if she can’t even muster enough strength even pretend to want to care. Even more she keeps being given platforms to speak and she just digs herself in deeper and taking LGBQT decades back with her. Let’s be clear here as well. This is not her community. She has made no attempts to “immerse” herself into the ” fear , the fights, the fury, & sometimes the fun (the pride marches and dances are really inspiring).

  17. fiorucci says:

Superficial note, Caitlyn’s makeup is very nice BUT not the eyebrows they are a bit too thick and look funny with the expressions she’s making

    • Beth says:

Her eyebrows always make her look shocked and suprised. Like she’s saying or thinking “What”?! “Who”?! “OMG”!!! “Trump said what”??!!

  18. Rainbow Hope says:

When Congress returns on Monday, things will get busy:

Already there are talks about another attempt to repeal the ACA, deadline for government funding with possible government shutdown, talk again of funding the wall, and the administration’s attempt to get a waiver of the sanctions for an oil deal in Russia.

Say informed, engaged, and call your members of Congress.

  19. Chaine says:

I’m glad that she transitioned publicly. Just by doing that and talking about it, she has probably helped many people. But now, she needs to stop talking and start listening.

  20. Jayna says:

Male or female, she’s always been a die-hard Republican and always will be. So don’t expect her to make sense as she talks in word circles.

The dealbreaker should have been what was in the Republican National Platform at the convention.

  21. Beth says:

Just another sucker who voted for Trump because he was Republican. She obviously didn’t keep a “close eye” on the Republicans or she wouldn’t have voted for them. No way can Caitlin make them change

  22. RussianBlueCat says:

I wonder how many of her friends from “I am Cait” are still in contact with her? At some points it looked like they wanted to kick Caitlyn off the bus because of her views

  23. Andrea says:

Lots of people voted for Rob Ford too in Toronto. I could only find a few in the end who didn’t regret it.

    • sarah says:

As I understand it, Ford played the suburbs off against the city, convincing the suburbanites they were always being overlooked by city-focused mayors. The suburbs had more people which equals more votes and Ford got elected. I’m not sure anyone knew how bad it would really get.

  24. African Sun says:

No one was checking for her show, no one is checking for her vote.

    ZZZZZ

  25. Bumfry says:

I feel sorry that she has become a self proclaimed spoke person for trans people. What an embarrassment

    • Heat says:

      I agree.
I can think of several famous trans people who are much better-spoken than Caitlyn.

  26. Holly hobby says:

Lets be honest. She voted to keep her money. The faux sympathy is too little too late. Guess what? All that money is worthless if orangino bombs us out of oblivion!

  27. Catherinethegoodenough says:

I’ve got so much respect for her for transitioning publicly, and for all it did to further the cause of transgender understanding and rights. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean she’s not a clueless idiot. Go with a logically consistent argument or go home.

  28. Elizabeth says:

I am so sick and tired of conservatives talking like they’re the only people who believe in the Constitution. Liberals believe in the Constitution, too, we just realize that it is a living document that should be amended when common sense, logical reasoning, and scientific discovery dictates, just like the Founding Fathers did in the Bill of Rights.

    • jwoolman says:

That comment puzzled me, too. Does she really think “liberals” don’t believe in the Constitution? Is that something conservatives are saying to each other now? Where did she pick up that idea? Has she actually read the Constitution, in particular the Bill of Rights attached?
