Star: ‘clingy’ Cameron Diaz makes Adam Levine meet her mom day after first date

Adam Levine of Maroon 5

Sometimes, when I’m reading an interview or a tabloid report about Cameron Diaz, I wonder if she’s really the ball-busting feminist, the good-time girl or the needy, clingy wreck that people make her out to be. Perhaps she’s multi-faceted, and she carries all of those qualities. I have no idea, but I tend to think she’s probably not the relationship wreck some people make her out to be. I think she’s probably self-absorbed and narcissistic (who isn’t?), she likes boys and doesn’t take her relationships seriously, which is probably why she goes through men like water.

But this latest report from Star Magazine is too funny to pass over. It’s about how Cameron is destroying her “relationship” with Maroon 5’s Adam Levine before it’s even started. Apparently, they were set up on a blind date, lunch at the Chateau Marmont. It went well, and they liked each other. Cut to the next day, when “clingy” Cameron drops in on Adam unannounced – with her mother. To go from first date to meeting-the-parents within 24 hours is epic. So funny:

Cameron Diaz… is certainly not shy about going after a guy she wants! The star, who just split from Brit model Paul Sculfor, has now set her sight on Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine.

[Though] the two seemed into each other while lunching at LA’s Chateau Marmont on May 16 after being set up by mutual pals, insiders say Cameron’s clinginess is already driving Adam away!

“It’s how she gets with every man. When Cameron likes someone, she smothers him,” a friend tells Star.

“She and Adam have only had a few dates, but she’s constantly calling and texting him.”

Adds another insider “She even changed her cell’s ringtone to Maroon 5’s song “She Will Be Loved” and got really embarrassed when it went off in front of him.”

[Cameron] is intent on getting plenty of face time with Adam. The day after their Chateau Marmont outing, “Adam was there again, and Cameron popped in with her mom, Billie. They didn’t have a planned date. Cameron just showed up because she knew he was going to be there!” says the insider.

Despite her best efforts, Cameron is unlikely to tame playboy Adam, who previously loved and left Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton and Kirsten Dunst. “Adam was flattered at first by Cameron’s attention, and he’s had a good time with her,” says the insider.

“But I don’t think he’s in it for the long term. He’s already feeling like it’s all too much.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition, June 8 2009]

I liked “She Will Be Loved” the first dozen times I heard it, but after that, Adam’s falsetto gave me a headache. To choose that as your ringtone? Come on, Cameron. Get it together, girl. And what is with Cameron going for guys with the falsetto (Justin Timberlake)? Does that qualify as a fetish?

Back to Cameron and her “clinginess” – I’m still not sure if I buy it. There were some rumors when she was with Timberlake that she was a mess, really stressed out and worried about her career and their relationship. But every time I saw Cameron talk about Justin, she seemed to be the one in control, and it seemed genuine to me. Could it be that Cameron is just going through a difficult time right now, and she’s trying to force a relationship with Adam? Or is this report total crap?

Here’s Cameron at the Spirit Awards in Santa Monica on February 21st. Images thanks to Fame Pictures .

Once a woman is over a certain age and single, the tabloids inevitably attack her.

    Cameron, Jennifer Aniston, Madonna…etc…

They depict all these women as desperate, clingy, needy, while George Clooney is a bachelor. Bullsh-t!

Cameron is far more successful than Adam Levine, and he can thank his lucky stars to be with such a beautiful and successful woman.

Adam who? Adam Levine is needy. Needy of attention. Nobody even cares about him.

    This story sucks.

  2. Maria says:

I never would have guess Adam would have resorted to the Hollywood despert cougar game. Fake Hollywood dating to get attention. What happend to the girlfriend he had before that was not a celeb?

  3. Naty says:

I think Cameron is a great girl …
She is beautiful and cool , he is lucky because I dont know Adam before she dates him!

  4. yeah says:

I’m with Lucky on this one.

Cameron is not a favorite of mine, but I don’t buy this for a second. For one thing, stressed about her career? She could work way more than she does, but I think has admitted in interviews that she just doesn’t feel like it, and enjoys her time off too much. Which seems like a very healthy attitude to me. Also, she varies between flings and long term relationships, which doesn’t seem clingy to me (casually dating till you find someone appropriate, then dating long-term). Hmm, maybe I should like her more.

typical tabs trying to paint a woman in hollywood as unlucky in love or clingy just because she doesnt have a wedding ring on her finger ….

why isnt clonney being called clingy? and pls no one tell me its because he says marriage isnt for him, cameron has said the same as well in many interviews that she isnt into the whole idea of marriage because she likes her own space too much ; now that doesnt sound like a clingy woman to me .

He’s a grown up. You can’t MAKE a grown up do anything.

  8. Christina X says:

Can someone please tell me what’s wrong with meeting the parents of the person you’re dating?

If you have nothing to hide, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal, should it?

I fail to see how this is clingy. I hate how the word “clingy” is tossed around.

  9. Cameron seems secure enough to be her own person in Hollywood-a rarity. She probably does want to settle down but who can blame her? I think Adam is the wrong guy but if he’s scared by her attentions, she’ll move on soon enough.

I don’t belive this sh*t for a second! That Diaz is a clingly train wreck is a given (like Aniston, this so called “independent woman” can’t remian single for more than 5 minutes), but Levine is a NOTORIOUS ladies man/cad who would never in a million years meet someone’s parents before he was good and ready-if ever.

  11. JustMe says:

    Adam Levine is a douche.

  12. jennifer says:

Total bullshit story. And I gotta say I LOVE that striped dress she’s wearing in the smaller pics below. I really hope she’s not dating this guy – not a huge Cameron fan – like her fine but wouldn’t call myself a fan or anything – but she’s waaaaaaaaaaay out of Adam Levine’s league and could do a million times better.

  13. Cheyenne says:

Forget Levine — where did she get that gorgeous red/black striped dress? I want oneeeeee!!!

  14. orion70 says:

Christina X, if it happened accidentally, well, shouldn’t be a big deal, but if anyone went and set such a thing up after a couple of dates, it’d be kinda creepy, not that i’m saying Cameron did this. Any gal would know stuff like that would scare a guy away, hell it’d scare ME away if a guy did it.

However, stranger things have happened. I knew of a girl once who told a guy she’d just met that night, that she loved him (cuckoo cuckoo)…and he actually stayed with her a few months. Some guys (and gals I suppose), will put up with some crazy stuff if there’s other benefits.

  15. Makeesha says:

I too am with Lucky. Adam Levine SUCKS! Anna Wintour should put him on the cover of vogue since he sings like a girl anyways. His voice annoys me as much as Celine Dion’s.
