Emma Watson in Burberry at ‘The Circle’ premiere: basic or beautiful?

Tribeca Film Festival 2017 - 'The Circle' Premiere - Arrivals

Have you seen the commercials for The Circle? The movie is about a young woman (played by Emma Watson) who begins working for a mysterious tech company, and – spoiler? – the company is working on this crazy surveillance program. I think Emma plays the potential whistleblower and then the company comes after her or whatever. While the surveillance-state and surveillance-capitalism is part of our everyday lives, I don’t think the film looks good at all.

Anyway, these are photos from last night’s Tribeca Film Festival premiere. Emma wore Monique Pean Burberry – a simple and presumably eco-friendly look. I have to say that following the Beauty and the Beast promotional tour, I think Emma has finally found a styling vibe that really works for her. She’s figured out her hair, she’s figured out what silhouettes look best on her, and she’s figured out her “style story,” you know?

Also at this premiere: Karen Gillan in a crazy, structured Vika Gazinskaya. This is… interesting. At least it’s not some boring tube dress.

Jennifer Morrison wore Opening Ceremony. This is horrible.

Here’s the trailer for The Circle. I like the appearance by John Boyega!

I like the look on her. But then I’m a minimalist anyway.

  2. Clare says:

Emma Watson is beautiful…but that is far tooooooo much foundation.

  3. tegteg says:

Karen Gillan’s outfit is AMAZING. I think Emma looks boring, tbh. Jennifer’s outfit is horrendous and unflattering.

  4. QueenB says:

Yeah I like the topic and that its a female lead but the movie does not look exciting at all.

  5. Chaucer says:

I think she’s work this before. I love it and I love her. I could do without the necklace that makes her head look stitched on though. She looks tired. I hope she’s okay.

  6. Daisy says:

The shoulders/sleeves ruin the whole look.

  7. Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Tom Hanks and John Boyega = cool. I see Emma is still acting with her eyebrows, it makes it so hard for me to watch her.

Her outfit is very nice – suits her. Love Karen Gillian.

    • rachel says:

Oh my god! She needs to stop with the eyebrows acting, she was unwatchable in Harry Potter for the same reason. I see she has not progressed one bit since.

  8. Kaye says:

I read the book. It started out interesting but got creepy (too much invasion of privacy), and by the end I was hate-reading it. I don’t usually finish books I don’t like, and I’m not sure why I wasted my time on this one.

  9. Mary Sia says:

Its based on the book of Dave Eggers so (small spoiler:) she is not a whistleblower.

I recommend the book, its worth reading:)

    • Skylark says:

Agree, an extremely interesting albeit disturbing read. Not wild about Emma as an actress but I’d be interested to see how successfully it’s been adapted for screen.

  10. Linabear says:

She is always basic but I think I like her shiny makeup.

    Jennifer Morisson looks awesome!

  11. Becks says:

I think Emma looks gorgeous. It’s a classic look that works well for her.

  12. KBeth says:

I dislike all of the above dresses.
Emma’s dress isn’t terrible, it is just kind of a bland look for her. She is so lovely & can do better I think.

  13. rachel says:

The first reviews are out and they are no bueno, well the movie is getting panned. Anyway I don’t know why they are still trying to make Emma happening, critic wise it’s not gonna work, she’s just isn’t a good actress, but I do love her sense of style, even if I feel like I already saw this outfit before.

  14. Brooksie says:

Monique Pean is an amazing jewelry designer, I had no idea she is designing clothing now. That gown is simply gorgeous.

  15. Kamelia says:

The Circle is one of my favorite books! But how the trailer is presented makes me think it will be quite different on some key bits.

  16. Catherine says:

Best choker ever. She looks gorgeous. Yes, book was terrifying 😱

  17. crazydaisy says:

I like Emma’s dress but it’s a little…plain. Which is fine. Needs a glorious necklace to elevate the look – the tiny choker is sweet but doesn’t add much to the outfit.

  18. Anitas says:

I like it! It suits her and she looks lovely.

She also looks like a young Sandra Bullock in these pics.

  19. Bailey says:

The dress is burberry! The jewelry is Monique Pean. Thanks!

  20. bella says:

Love the dress and I think Emma and Karen look amazing. I have never heard of this book, but I will check it out.
