Kerry Washington came to the Met Gala with designer Michael Kors. She was in this patchwork gown with uneven pieces and cutouts featuring different metallic and sequin designs. You can see what they’re going for with this dress but it doesn’t quite work. It’s like they tried to skirt the line between craft project and high fashion and failed. Also I really dislike her hair that way but it does go with the look.
Elizabeth Banks was mod and confusing in a formfitting Michael Kors dress with a black and white optic print. It’s hard to tell in the photos but this is actually an intricately sequined gown. This is somewhat in keeping with the theme, as Kawakubo’s prints are bold like this, from what little I know of her designs. This is Effie f-ing Trinket though, she could and should have done better and I think a different designer would have helped her embrace the theme. Also, my colorist would not let me leave the salon if my blonde was that one note. Her hair and makeup need work.
Did Mandy Moore have the same stylist as Elizabeth Banks because holy sh-t this is bad. I thought that pink eyeshadow was the worst but I may have to revise that to purple. Mandy is also in Michael Kors and this is a hard pass. She’s wearing one black glove, a half sleeve and it’s all black with some tattered ruffles thrown on top. What do you do when your stylist sends you out like this? Do you throw a fit, wash the terrible makeup off and do it all yourself or do you suck it up and hold your head up high like a pro? We see the choice that Mandy made.

Where do you begin? Russell’s dress honestly looks like very cheap which we all know it is not. I cannot even look at Elizabeth Bank’s dress without my eyes hurting. That is so BAD. I do not know what to think about Mandy Moore.

None of these ladies look good. Kerry having one silver and one black polka dot boob looks lopsided. Elizabeth Banks dress makes me dizzy with that print. Mandy’s dress is awful. Elizabeth and Mandy’s eye makeup make me cringe
Kerry’s look would have been a better fit at the Punk-themed Gala in 2013 or 14.
Kerry is so pretty but never chooses fashion I like. Her dress from the back looks ok but the front looks terrible. That silver patch looks like a cheap afterthought.

Kerry is a tragic case. Gorgeous woman, awful taste. She looks demented in the second picture.

Elizabeth Banks’ dress looks like an optical illusion. The pattern is irritating and makes me nauseous.
I couldn’t, which forced me to look at her body and dayum!!! Lizzie looks GOOD!
I don’t mind Elizabeth’s or Mandy’s but Kerry’s is horrific. I am often a sucker for patchwork creations but it looks like something Kors himself would have (verbally) ripped to shreds on Project Runway.
Poor Kerri! Awful dress, awful makeup, and I don’t know if she is wearing a wig but if not, the hairstyle makes it look like she is wearing one.
Mandy needs to see a doctor about that eye infection. Stat.
Lord, she looks just too washed out with that shade of blonde and make-up.
I love Banks’s dress. KW doesn’t look too awful, which is an improvement over her usual red carpet appearances.
Kerry is a beautiful but vanilla woman that should not go all out edgy.
Elizabeth’s neckline is the most unflattering thing I’ve ever seen. It looks like she’s wearing a bathing suite that doesn’t fit correctly.
I can see where all three of these dresses should have gone, and it makes me sad that they are so terrible, because they could have been great. I would have given Elizabeth a boat cut neckline, long sleeves, and a large skirt (in a solid black.) Mandy’s is an easy fix – get rid of those ruffles, and maybe do something interesting with the hemline (and get rid of the gross pink makeup.) Kerry’s is another easy fix – give her a solid piece across the boobs and perhaps a slightly tighter fit on the bottom.
(whispers) i like kerry’s dress. i know, i know. i don’t get it either, but something appeals.

Kerry’s dress looks like it’s made for a breastfeeding mom: lower the silver lame flap and voila! Ready to nurse in an instant. Sorry, I’m being unfair to nursing moms, who each deserve a much prettier dress!
All three are bad (read heinous!). I can’t with any of these looks and I really hate to say it, but the makeup and hair on all three of them are HORRIBLE!! These ladies are usually so beautiful that it doesn’t even matter if they have bad makeup on, but this is just makes all of them look downright homely!
