Joe Scarborough & Mika Brzezinski are apparently engaged now

Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski

Last year, there was a somewhat interesting gossip story about long-time MSNBC co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. When Mika and Joe started Morning Joe, they were both happily married to other people and they had growing families and all of that. A few years ago, Joe quietly divorced his wife. And last year, Mika quietly divorced her husband. The gossip was that Mika and Joe had probably been having an affair for years, which… I can believe. While I can’t stand either of them, they have a certain kind of bickering married-couple chemistry, and they do seem to adore each other in their own ways. Well, now it looks like they’re engaged?

The first couple of cable news Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are engaged to be married, sources have exclusively confirmed to Page Six. The MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-hosts got engaged this past weekend during a romantic trip to the south of France and Monaco to celebrate Brzezinski’s 50th birthday. We’re told Scarborough, 54, got down on one knee and proposed at the scenic Bar Bellini at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, which has a breathtaking moonlit outdoor terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

A source told us, “Joe got down on one knee and proposed old-fashioned-style with a ring. Of course, Mika accepted. They came back from the trip on Cloud Nine.” The source added, “There are no wedding plans as of yet, they are just telling their families the happy news.”

A source close to Brzezinski said, “Mika turned 50 and realized she wanted to move forward with her life and spend every minute with Joe, and not just at work.”

A friend of Joe’s added, “He’s had a rough few years with his divorce and the passing of his father, but he’s been the happiest he’s ever been these last few months with Mika.” Reps for the couple and NBC declined to comment.

Page Six exclusively reported the on-air couple was involved in a secret romance in June last year after Brzezinski and her husband of 23 years James Hoffer divorced. They have two daughters. Scarborough divorced Susan Waren, a former aide to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, in 2013 after a 12-year marriage. It was his second divorce and he has four children.

Well… it actually sounds like a very romantic proposal. I thought Joe was joking when he made comments about Mika always going to the South of France over the weekend, but apparently that’s a thing. Mika loves Monaco and the South of France. So now they’re engaged and I imagine Morning Joe is full of even more insidery jokes and comments. Congrats, I guess. I still feel a bit sorry for their original spouses.

Ugh, these two. They were two of the biggest Trump enablers in the media. Now they’re trying to do penance but it’s too little too late. They deserve each other.

I’m not sure that’s true. They were openminded early on……that’s not enabling ….I think it’s good practice to not rush to judgment. Their assssment evolved with time and exposure. They do pretty much bash him now.

I saw him speak about 6-7 years ago at an industry luncheon. I did leave with a positive view of him. He’s conservative on business matters and a pragmatist without being personally judgey.

@ Maybe Tomorrow – What changed my mind was the hot mic moment when they were on commercial break during a Trump interview and they were fawning all over him. It was so gross.

    • Heather says:

They both think they are smarter than they are, so perfect couple.

Furthermore, this pretty much encapsulates the “big career moves” of many pseudo empowered women of her generation. Know your worth. Have a crush on your co-worker and ride his coattails.

A source close to Brzezinski said, “Mika turned 50 and realized she wanted to move forward with her life and spend every minute with Joe, and not just at work.”

I don’t care for either one. But congrats to them and wish them well!

I don’t care about these two in terms of their private life. However, their “politics” drive people crazy. They whiplash back and forth between cheering on our Hideous Leader and bashing him. Their latest pet theory: Trump has dementia, and that explains everything. God help us!!

    • Christin says:

I can only take their show in small segments, but I’ve noticed the same whiplash opinions of orange. Joe claims to have personal insights from the ghoul-in-law, too.

  4. Aims says:

I feel that mixing personal life and professional life is a really bad idea. Maybe I’m wrong , but it could be a messy situation .

  5. minx says:

I don’t know what she sees in him, but congrats, I guess.

  6. HappyMom says:

    I love them-congrats Joe & Mika.

  7. Nicole says:

Two crappy people are engaged thus saving everyone else

    • QQ says:

Exactly!, Each took the other out the dating pool sniper styles thus sparing all the good people in sight! So Hurray for that?

  8. Tw says:

Let that first photo of Mika be a Botox cautionary tale.

  9. Ally8 says:

I can’t stand this show but I tried watching when it first started. Scarborough was such a patronizing, sexist douche with Brzezinski. I think she simply spent too many sleep-deprived mornings with him on the show and has developed Stockholm syndrome.

Also, Vanity Fair is reporting that they dine with the Trumps, and both Trump and Kushner offered to officiate the wedding.

    All-round ew on this one.

  10. Heather says:

She takes a total back seat to every moronic thing he says and in the last few years, more and more, she mutters republican talking points under her breath to back up his opinion on any random thing, so yeah, totally dickmatized.

  11. anniefannie says:

Early in the Trump admin they both were giving the Pres the benefit of the doubt. It was clear that Joe had developed an inside informant ( pretty sure Kushner ) and I think he was enjoying getting the scoop and wanted to protect the relationship.
Now they’ve completely abandoned that track and are openly discussing Trumps ( what Joe claims ) dementia.

    • Christin says:

An article just a few weeks ago claims that ‘ghoul-in-law’ routinely calls Joe and other friendly media types, so that is likely the informant they often allude to.

Orange tweeted about them last summer and called them ‘clowns’ once they began (occasionally) calling him out. He also claimed to have some inside info about their relationship.

  12. TheOtherSam says:

Nobody anymore seems to mention the intern who died in his office. I think of that story whenever I see his mug on tv.

The rumors re these two, Joe and Mika, have been around for years. So now they go official. If they ever split, who gets custody of the show?

    • Ally8 says:

These are good articles about it archived on the Daily Kos and on Gawker, including that Scarborough apparently got someone banned from MSNBC for mentioning it and keeps weighing in on edits to his Wikipedia page about it.

The media silence about it is all the more striking in that it happened around the same time as the media hysteria about Gary Condit and Chandra Levy, not to mention after the multi-year moral meltdowns over Bill Clinton and his intern. Scarborough apparently got a much greater courtesy and benefit of the doubt.

    • AMA1977 says:

I just went and searched for it, because I was sure it was him but I wanted to verify. That situation is disturbing and I, too, will never see his name in print without immediately thinking of it. He looks smarmy and sleazy because he is smarmy and sleazy, his current disavowal of 45 notwithstanding. As QQ said upthread, thanks for only making two people miserable instead of four, and congrats for that, I guess?
