Last year, it felt like some of the biggest female recording artists had albums out. Rihanna finally dropped her long-gestating album, Anti. Beyonce dropped Lemonade. Lady Gaga did something. Adele actually released 25 in late 2015, but she toured and promoted it throughout 2016. We also got new albums from Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Drake, Sia, and The Weeknd. My point? 2016 was a good year for music. 2017 has not felt as heavily weighted though. Of course there’s Kendrick Lamar’s Damn, but there’s also Ed Sheeran’s Divide. Katy Perry’s got an album coming out any day now. Miley Cyrus is promising a new album, probably this summer. We keep hearing that Taylor Swift will have new music by the fall or winter too.
So… is it any surprise that Calvin Harris has just announced that he will be releasing a new album this summer too? No. I remember hearing that he was working a full-length album last year. Well, now we know who he worked with:
EDM superstar Calvin Harris will release his fifth album next month. Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, his first full-length since 2014’s Motion, drops June 30. Harris announced the news Tuesday afternoon via a Twitter video that also detailed the album’s extensive roster of guests. Katy Perry, Future, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Big Sean, Travis Scott, Kehlani, Khalid, Schoolboy Q, D.R.A.M., Lil Yachty, Jessie Reyez, and PARTYNEXTDOOR will all appear on the project.
Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 will also feature Frank Ocean, Migos, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams, and Ariana Grande, who have appeared on the two singles Harris has already released this year.
In January, Harris teased that he’d release 10 new songs in 2017. He kicked things off in February with “Slide,” which features Ocean and Migos and currently sits at No. 30 on the Hot 100. Harris then shared “Heatstroke” — a collaboration with Grande, Thug, and Williams — in March.
Wow, Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend made sure to work with her greatest nemesis, Katy Perry? Ha! Taylor’s not a big fan of Nicki Minaj either. I wonder if Calvin also asked Kanye West to be on this album too. Incidentally, Kanye’s working on a new album – he’s currently holed up in Wyoming, which is kind of crazy to me, to think of Yeezy in Wyoming. I wonder what Wyoming thinks of him.
Anyway… yeah, Calvin Harris plus Katy Perry. Taylor’s next album is probably going to be called Grudge Match: The Ultimate Blind-Item Burn Album.

This is all so childish and petty at this point from both ladies. Two of the most powerful women in the music business going back and forth like kids. And to add Calvin sucks!
Taylor’s next album will sell more in its first week than both Katy’s and Calvin’s will combined in it’s first week. Taylor is a professional victim, but the woman knows how to write a hit song…even if I personally think all her music sounds like nails on a chalkboard. Katy is coming off of two flop songs and if you go back to her last album…it’s more like 4-5 flops. Calvin has a few hits on his hands but ironically his biggest song ever was written by his ex.
If all three would flop and go away though…we would all be better off for it. Here is hoping that’s what happens. Especially Calvin Harris.

Cowriter Heap gave Swift “all the credit” for the ballad Clean. Said the lyrics “for sure they are all hers she deserves all the credit.” Heap said before the experience she had assumed Taylor did not really write her own songs, as is true with many pop artist, but she was wrong.
So I’ve come to the conclusion she’s a very capable song writer, and while many of her songs she cowrites with others, she seems to be a substantial participant in the process.
Also- His biggest song ever was the one he made with Rihanna way back. We found love in hopeless place. (One of his few good songs, I might add.)Not the one he wrote with his ex. Another myth perpetuated by swiftie stans that needs to be debunked.
If this is just two musicians working together, then good for them.
If this is two adults just trying to show (what?) to another adult, then it’s time to grow up, you petty people.
I hate his music. But the idea that It needs to be some kind of petty revenge is reading too much into it Imao. Everyone in music works with the same producers more or less. Calvin is extremely successful so singers are gonna wanna work with him because he gets them hits not because they are angry at swift. Especially as Katy seems to have dropped dr Luke she’s gonna be looking for other producers who can guarante her music sells.
Meanwhile Harry styles reportedly has a song about Taylor like 5 years after they dated for 5 min, now that, if true, is pettty.
Calvin and Katy are top artists. It’s ridiculous to assume that they are working together because of Taylor. They probably would have if she and Calvin were still together. Both want to make good music. Katy and Calvin wouldn’t put their career and reputation on the line to take a dig at Taylor and end up making something bad.
