Alexa Chung covers the latest issue of British Vogue. You’re not just imagining things either, this cover is awkward as hell. It feels like British Vogue was aiming to do an interesting crop around Alexa’s elbows, then they f–ked it up and just left it like this. It makes everything look off-kilter and phoned-in. Which is actually “on brand” with what I think of Alexa Chung, honestly. Many of you swear that she’s seems like a really cool person, that she’s interesting and incredibly fashionable and one of the best British It Girls ever. But I’ve always found her so underwhelming, I guess.
Anyway, Alexa got this cover to promote her new fashion line. She’s got a new label called – wait for it – “Alexa Chung.” Alexa is modeling the label in the British Vogue shoot, which you can see here. She tells the magazine that in five years’ time, she could totally see herself “opening a shop.” She also says:
“This is a moment in my life where I felt I could dedicate all my attention in one direction,” she says in the accompanying interview. “Age has something to do with it … I’m young enough and excited enough to start something new, but old enough to think I could pull it off.”
Sure. She’s 33 years old, and of course it’s totally possible that Alexa has the potential to become, like, the next Victoria Beckham. But am I the only one who wonders… maybe Alexa is just designing clothes for herself, for her own sensibility, and she’s the only one who would look good in them? It’s the classic dilemma for so many celebrity-designers: their labels fail because the clothes only look good on the celebrity-designer.

Regardless, British Vogue has been stinking lately, I hope the new editor can lift it back up.
Actually, Vogue in general has been stinking. Elle has got some gorgeous editorials.Glamour has been gaining ground too.
It’s still under Schulman, Ennuiful’s debut is later this year I believe.
I really can’t wait to see what Ennuiful brings to the table.
The cover girls for UK Vogue and UK Tatler have been completely interchangeable for years now. With the same 4 faces of anodyne socialites/It girls, Alexa included.
I really wonder what his vision will look like.
I love her, and I usually dislike fashion “it ” girls. But I’ve seen clips from Popworld and some of her interviews, and she’s really witty and self deprecating. It also helps that her her style is right up my alley.
She also got bangs again which suit her much better than this haircut.
Is she a WOC? I know she looks completely white, but her dad seems to be comletely Asian, so would she be consodered a POC?

I don’t know. She’s one of the more interesting fashion girls, going by interviews etc. and I get the feeling that she would be cool to hang out with but … I also have no idea who she is as a person. I don’t know what to make of her as a fashionista either. She has a very unique style and I highly doubt it looks good on more than 5 other people, like Kaiser says. Plus … I kind of hate her Instagram.

Just accessorize everything with Alexander Skarsgard, and she’s got it made.
I find her clothing taste/style really unappealing. i get a very disingenuous, shallow vibe from her. they keep trying make her happen, like fetch. just not feeling it.
I find her style super contrived. 😔 She’s the epitome of a hoi-polloi groupie. Her attempt to crack America on talent flopped, so she’s found her niche as a skinny older Nicole Richie.

Amide, you nailed it for me. Her style feels very contrived to me. And yet also current-generation generic. I dunno. I’m just not that impressed with her either.
As other posters have pointed out here, she does laugh at herself. Saw an interview of herself where she was saying her style is a cross between a granny and hipster or something. She knows how frivolous it is and does not take herself that seriously.
How hard it it to look “stylish” with her cliche body type. I’m not thin shaming, but if you put the same mix on a size 14 woman (average American size) it takes the “edge” out of it. My point is she can likely sell some very been there done that “fashion”.
She keeps a low profile, has a very specific look that appeals to a certain kind of girl, she is quite different from other models and does not teach us how to live with some inocuous healthy living blog. Moreover, she’s not constantly trying to be sexy or beautiful.
If the shallow and talentless Victoria Beckham gets a pass here for having been in the most annoying girl band ever, Alexa Chung is on Eisntein level. And she has been doing collabs with designers for a while, it’s not jusy now. And she accessorizes, indeed, with Sarksgaard.
I am not particulalry a fan, but I find it strange that some people get instant angry stares at them for no particular reason.
i found that it’s mostly 3 things that annoy people: 1) the whole it girl thing and 2) her weight 3) who she’s dating. she just rubs some people the wrong way because of these things. i’ve been following her for ages because she used to date alex turner, and i used to be in love with him as a teen, and while most of the arctic monkeys’ fandom liked her well enough, there were always people who hated her for these reasons. same now with sarksgaard’s fans.
i’ve always liked her, she doesn’t take herself very seriously at all and she’s funny. and yes, as you say, i love that she isn’t into the whole lifestyle thing, ngl she’d totally lose me if she started doing that.

I can’t wait for Edward to become editor and us to never see an Alexa cover again, Alexandra has some weird obsession with her. From looking at vogue this month the collection is really nothing special and just another typical celeb line that comes out when someone’s fame is drying up. Also all her fans are 16 year olds doubt they can afford the overpriced stuff
VBeck brand struggling – too high end without the luxury cred of old time brands – but she did a one-off (?) with Target and it did really well. I have no idea who loves Alexa Chung but she scores points for always wearing faux fur when she does wear fur, and I think she should go middle end instead of doing luxury. Even Jessica Simpson succeeded as a fashion brand, but then fast fashion is really terrible for the planet. I don’t own a single thing from Zara and proudly so.

I’ve seen her in a few interviews and she seems funny and nice. I don’t really care for much of what she wears, but whatever. I guess there’s a market for it.
