Michael Moore is working on a Trump documentary called ‘Fahrenheit 11/9’

Michael Moore was right about America electing Donald Trump. Even more specifically, he was right about white voters in the Rust Belt voting for Trump, even though many of those same people voted for Obama at least once. Personally, I’m willing to give Moore credit for his Cassandra-like vision of Trump’s America, but I have always been wary of his interpretations of why those (white) voters voted the way they did. Like, Moore believes that it was all about the economy. I believe it was a perfect storm of institutionalized misogyny and racism. But whatever, I’m tired of arguing about it. Moore recently said that his sixth sense was telling him that he Trump would not be impeached until his second term. Sure. In any case, Moore is going to be around to document everything. The man who brought us Fahrenheit 9/11 is now doing Fahrenheit 11/9.

Surprise! Michael Moore is working on a new movie. Bob and Harvey Weinstein announced Tuesday they have, through their Fellowship Adventure Group, acquired worldwide rights to the Oscar-winning documentarian’s latest nonfiction project, titled Fahrenheit 11/9.

Moore, 63, is currently directing the movie, which will examine the factors that contributed to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential victory (despite losing the popular vote to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton by around 3 million) and subsequent tenure as the nation’s leader. Its title is a reference to the day Trump was declared president at 2:29 a.m. ET (and a play on Moore’s film Fahrenheit 9/11, which investigated the George W. Bush administration’s response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks).

“The filming has been done under a strict cloak of secrecy and is expected to be key in dissolving Trump’s ‘teflon’ shield and, in turn, his presidency,” a press release reads. Via statement, Moore continues: “No matter what you throw at him, it hasn’t worked. No matter what is revealed, he remains standing. Facts, reality, brains cannot defeat him. Even when he commits a self-inflicted wound, he gets up the next morning and keeps going and tweeting. That all ends with this movie.”

Fahrenheit ‪11/9 will reportedly contain “the mix of outrage and mischievous humor that has made Moore the most successful documentary filmmaker in the world,” and sees the filmmaker reuniting with the team who helped craft his Academy Award-nominated documentary Fahrenheit ‪9/11, including Meghan O’Hara, Tia Lessin and Carl Deal.

I think Moore is probably a little bit like Chelsea Handler, in that he can’t f-cking stand Trump but Trump is “good for business,” so to speak, and so there’s part of him that wants the Trump administration to continue just so there’s plenty of material to cover. I said on Twitter this week that it will probably take a 9/11-style commission to unravel all of this Trump-Russia nonsense, and I still believe that. We are not going to unravel this mess with a Michael Moore documentary. It’s going to take calm, sober legal minds and an assload of forensic accountants to piece together all of threads of this sh-t.

Yeah I want this documentary to be good but I don’t know if I’m pessimistic today but I don’t have high hopes that it will do much because I doubt any deplorables would watch it.

Also why is it called November 9th? Wasn’t the vote the 10th? Or am I confused

    • Sam says:

The election was November 8th, so the 9th was the first day of this horrible new world.

I really wish he wouldn’t. Moore presents his own views and he’s not always factually correct. He, like Rosie O’Donnell, triggers the extreme right. As we’re trying to get moderates to move towards supporting impeachment, we don’t need the alt-right galvanized and shouting about some mistakes Moore made as if he speaks for all liberals. We need those people to crawl off in shame, not fighting to save Trump. Our case against Trump is stronger if it is without error and presented calmly & professionally by the likes of Sally Yates.

I don’t know why it has to be two never-agreeing sides. I think it’s the economy AND misogyny AND racism AND indoctrination AND false consciousness AND low information AND probably lots of other things that cause this type of voting behaviour that I’ve missed because I understand more about the UK than the US, what with being Britisher an’ all!

I don’t know. Guess I am still naive enough to hope Moore has true, bleeding heart love for this country. He was the only one brave enough to use his Oscars speech against GW Bush and his unjust wars and militarization of our society. He was booed by fellow celebs. Yeah, he romanticizes the white man world of his childhood, but he is one of the few in their community who has spoken out consistently, trying to wake them up in every way he can.

Well with the way Orangino is going I doubt impeachment will be put off until the second term (if there is any).

I’m here to comment on the featured links section of this page. Really Katharine McPhee dating David Foster? The ick in that is amazing. However it just proves Kat is thirsty.

    Is it too soon?

I don’t get this. I love Michael Moore and his films but what could he possibly reveal that shocks anybody now? The Republicans won’t do anything unless the people force them to.

I worry about people like Micheal Moore sometimes. Exposing the truth has shown to be very dangerous for some people. I hope he’s got a teflon vest. Just sayin’!
