Donald Trump: ‘The entire thing has been a witch hunt, there’s no collusion’

Premiere of USA Network's 'Suits' Season 5

There’s an insane flurry of activity every morning, when first-read articles come out and Emperor Baby Fists starts tweeting. Every single day now. And it happens at multiple times of the day too. The second flurry happens in the afternoon, usually around the press briefing, which inevitably contains a million lies. Then the third flurry happens in the early evening, as newspapers go online with their new stories. The political newscycle has been crazy for months, obviously, but in the past two weeks, it’s gotten next-level. So here are some things that have happened just in the past 24-36 hours.

Bigly Tweets. He tweeted yesterday morning: “With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special counsel appointed!” And: “This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!” He’s so profoundly stupid.

Bigly Speaks. He was in a luncheon with news anchors yesterday and he was apparently griping the whole time about how poorly he is being treated. He said, about the special counsel, “I believe it hurts our country terribly, because it shows we’re a divided, mixed-up, not-unified country…It also happens to be a pure excuse for the Democrats having lost an election that they should have easily won because of the Electoral College being slanted so much in their way. That’s all this is. I think it shows division, and it shows that we’re not together as a country. And I think it’s a very, very negative thing.” He still believes that we’re just “punishing” him for losing the popular vote.

Bigly Denies. He flatly denies that he ever asked Comey to back off the Flynn investigation. He also insists that he was influenced by Rod Rosenstein’s letter. Except Rosenstein just told senators yesterday that he wrote that Comey letter knowing the White House was already set to fire Comey.

Bigly Obfuscates. Trump on whether appointing a special counsel was the right more: “Well, I respect the move, but the entire thing has been a witch hunt … believe me, there’s no collusion between myself and my campaign. Russia is fine.

Bigly & His BFF. Trump apparently felt a strong connection to Mike Flynn, and has even remained in contact with Flynn in the months following Flynn’s resignation. Trump has been calling Flynn and telling him to stay strong. And here’s the kicker: Trump hopes that when the investigation into Flynn is over, Flynn can rejoin the administration.

The Comey Memos. The NYT has another fascinating story about James Comey, his memos and his months-long discomfort in dealing with Trump. Comey wrote memos about every encounter he had with Trump, including the times when Trump asked him for loyalty and the time Trump asked him when he (Comey) was going to start telling the press that he (Trump) was not being investigated. Comey was so wary of spending any time – socially or otherwise – with the president that when he was invited to the WH, he specifically wore a dark blue suit and tried to blend in with the curtains.

Bigly’s Joementum. Joe Lieberman is apparently Trump’s top choice to replace James Comey as FBI Director. I can’t.

Of course we believe him, doesn’t he always tell us the truth?

    • Juls says:

Haha. Everything he says, the truth ends up being the exact opposite. So now I am even more convinced that he is in bed with Russia, if that’s possible.

      • Lisa says:

Ha! Juls, I think you may have just had a great idea for the next cover of Time.
A picture of the Orange Menace literally in a cozy double bed with is buddy Vlad with the White House in the background. (shudders)

      • Indiana Joanna says:

baby fists sounds just like his overlord Putin, excoriating the American press and the American public. Two peas snuggled together in their evil pod. He is sooooooo guilty of collusion and other traitorous crimes.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Yes, everything he says is the opposite of reality.

“Democrats having lost an election that they should have easily won because of the Electoral College being slanted so much in their way.”

No, jackass. Democrats are disenfranchised by the electoral college because the electoral votes aren’t proportional. Smaller states benefit. Votes count less in states like CA and NY.

      • jwoolman says:

Yeah, the Orange Maroon doesn’t seem to realize that when every one of his associates lies about their contacts with the Russians, that tells us they weren’t just exchanging borscht recipes. If they had been entirely honest about it, there wouldn’t be a problem.

Likewise every time President Tweeter lies and deflects, that convinces us that he really is involved in something shady at best and. criminal at worst. Firing Comey and now trying to come up with a reason to keep the Special Counsel from investigating Jared pretty much clinches it. Now we know that Prince Jared is in it up to his dimples. If Jared were wise, he would decide to stay in Israel and start his application for Israeli citizenship now to avoid extradition. At the very least, he is likely to lose any security clearance. If the same goes for Ivanka, there should be a lot of steam coming out of the windows in the Oval Office.

Can’t imagine that The Donald didn’t anticipate that his normal operating procedures would be under so much extra scrutiny once he was a candidate and now the President. He should have dropped out before the convention last summer if he had an ounce of sense. Then he would be happily golfing and fleecing people all he wants with minimum interference. And a lot of incoherent 3am whining on Twitter.

    • Alix says:

I say we bring back the term “bloviator”, just for him.

    • Melissa says:

How about the “birther” witchunt on Obama? how about every.single.person he went after on twitter, on the news, on the radio etc? How about that? He can dish it but cannot take it. The man is deluded.

    • DystopianDance says:

Well, it was very evil genius (of Putin) to recognize the weakness of the electoral college. That -should- have been the democrat’s strength. So to plug up that “hole”, Putin jammed propaganda all over those states regarding Hillary being the anti-christ, etc. Second, the Russians (along w team orange?) hacked the DNC and made it seem like the DNC was being evil to the millennia’s sweetheart Bernie. That caused in-faction fighting, so the liberals were split. TOO MANY libs went so far as to protest vote, We can see the efforts of team Putin to commandeer the US via supporting Orange Jabba the Hutt, but can we prove there was COLLUSION.

      • vaultdweller101 says:

The protest vote BS still makes my blood boil. Those third party voting morons are just as complicit in this mess as Trump supporters.

      • jwoolman says:

Yes, the first rule of voting in a binary situation (one of the two major Parties will inhabit the White House) — you always vote for the The Lesser of Two Evils. Otherwise you make it possible for The Greater of Two Evils to win. You can always protest individual policies of President Lesser Evil.

It is simply inconceivable that someone supporting Bernie would vote for Trump, as apparently some did. That suggests they weren’t even listening to what Bernie was saying, not to mention not understanding that you can have only one nominee and your choice may not be it. Voting third party in this particular election accomplished the same thing, letting an incompetent fool completely opposed to anything Bernie stands for take the Presidency. Hillary and Bernie aren’t that far apart in practical policies, so any Bernie supporter not realizing that just didn’t look at her background.

    • wolfpup says:

I have to go to bed, now, I am an old lady, perhaps, Do not give up on hopes and dreams. I lived the apparent life that millennials believe is natural, – but all mother’s know – we live in the hopes and dreams of our children.

  2. Beth says:

When will this asswipe stop bringing up Obama and Clinton and get serious? Every day gets worse and more embarrassing with him being our president

    • Jem says:

It’s all he has; he’s playing to his base, his last bastion of support. Also probably setting up the post-resignation dialogue about how he was victimized by Swamp Beasts HRC and Obama. Wait for it; book and movie and all that.

      • DystopianDance says:

The “base” is clearly hypnotized by Putin’s propaganda. How do we extricate them from their trance? I guess the plan (via Republicans) is to let them die a slow soda/ GMO death, because they won’t have any medical nets to save them.

      • vaultdweller101 says:

Fox Media has hypnotized their base — uneducated, simple folk who are easily frightened and confused — like Pavlov’s dogs. Saying ‘Obama’ and ‘Clinton’ doesn’t even need any clarifying statements, because everyone’s already in an imaginary lather about “e-mails” and “Benghazi” and “something something but he’s black!”.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

        You’re probably right.

    • MC2 says:

Never. This past week when a big story hits, I go to Faux News to see the spin & they have HRC on the main spot on their website. Even this morning- it’s how HRC was a crappy candidate. Yesterday it is about some PAC she supposedly has.
Trump leaks to Russia and the other side is still saying “but her emails!” They are insane.

  3. BlueSky says:

I don’t think he knows what the word collusion means.

    • Christin says:

He probably thinks it’s same as ‘collision’, as in: “No, we didn’t have a collusion with them. It was friendly, very friendly. The friendliest talks and secret meetings…”

    • K says:

I’m just amazed he can spell it, on past evidence.

    • FLORC says:

He also doesn’t understand the concept of a timeline or timestamp. That things happen in an order along dates that we can go back and look at. Cross references. Confirmations. And under oath testimonies. He doesnt get it.

  4. Nicole says:

Every time he speaks it’s more evidence for the investigation. Also is there a country out there that doesn’t believe we are completely stupid (minus the U.K. With their own issues)?

    • Veronica says:

Trump is a great example of how wealth and success often have very little to do with intelligence or cunning.

      • Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Trump is a text book example of business empires being inherited. He has no clue about business as he’s never actually had to work to make one successful – he inherited a successful property empire from his father.

      • Beth says:

So many voted for him because he was a rich “successful ” business man and forgot he inherited the money and had gone bankrupt several times

      • Christin says:

Agree with all of this. He’s second generation inherited wealth. Had a business handed to him, and was bailed out by Daddy and through multiple bankruptcies.

It’s more clear each day just how genuine intellect, organizational and business skills are fundamentally lacking.

      • ELX says:

But he’s not really successful—whatever he has was built on his father’s work, money, and contacts. Trump is the classic example of someone who was born in third base but thinks he hit a home run.

      • SusanneToo says:

@Beth. I don’t think his supporters “forgot.” I firmly believe they didn’t know because they don’t read, explore, investigate. They only glom onto simplistic platitudes – MAGA, Lock her up, Build the Wall. Facts, isuyes, complex narratives? Nah.

My lifelong kneejerk liberalism makes me want to sympathize with or pity them, but when they’re interviewed and they still support him and still parrot Fake News and still shriek the Media, Hillary, Obama, I turn off.

      • DystopianDance says:

He is actually very cunning- he has stayed one mm on the right side of the law. He knows the law game; he who has the money kills the other in court. “the art of his deal” is to manipulate manipulate manipulate. I am curious if his white collar crime schtick will stay above the heat during his presidency; it’s a sick scenario but I can’t unwatch.

      • dontsaveit says:

The thing is, bankruptcies when you’re filthy rich are all part of the game. It’s not the same as an average Joe going bankrupt from credit card mismanagement.

    • grabbyhands says:

45 is singlehandedly helping to confirm every horrible stereotype that the rest of the world has ever had about the US – that we’re a country of bloated, entitled braggarts taking credit for shiz we didn’t do, but still behaving like recalcitrant children when we don’t get our own way.

    • Luca76 says:

Here’s something positive about our system. Our people came out in record numbers to protest. Our courts put a stop to the travel ban and our system finally has put an Independent Counsel in place. I refuse to be demoralized or defined by that man and his goons. It may take some time but we will get him out of office.

      • Nicole says:

Unfortunately Luca the damage will take much longer to reverse. If this goes to the 2018 midterms the insurance market may have collapsed, public funding gutted, PP gone, tourism down and faith in this system at a historic low.
I know personally that the last few years have completely destroyed my belief in the ideal American dream and I’m not even 30 yet. This election consequently made it clear I can’t count on my own country to protect me. That’s not something that has a magic reversal on impeachment.

      • DystopianDance says:

The reality is the orange thing has preyed upon the less powerful through the court systems; he’s gotten away with “the art of the (shady) deal”. The only “tools” we have, as his plebeians, is to RECORD RECORD RECORD. Keep track of his hypocrisy and keep protesting. I overcame an evil 1%er in court, but as the mouse who roared, it took years of persistence. I believe we shall overcome, but it takes PERSISTENT expertise.

    • Lozface says:

Here in Australia, most of my friends, colleagues etc are in complete shock with it all.

I feel for you all who didn’t support this nutter. Breaks my heart… and hurts my brain to see the damage being done and the utter rubbish he dribbles.

Bring on an impeachment! We are all hoping for it here too!

      • Betsy says:

That would be most of us!

      • DystopianDance says:

The orange thing (in collusion w Russia?) preyed upon the fears of laborer’s. Making money with a high school diploma will most certainly become obsolete in our automated global society. After the 1900s, the servants in aristocratic houses faced the same ousting of a way of life. People have to transform and appeal to our government for transition; the Orange thing made promises to laborers (particularly from the mining industry) that, of course, he’d never keep.

    • Kyra says:

No, the UK is just as flabbergasted as everyone else. Brexit may be a step into the unknown, but at least our government isn’t entirely beholden to an enemy nation (or Alt-Christianity and the NRA).

      • dodgy says:

@Kyra, the UK is being held hostage by the right wing media though. May and her corrossive agenda is being spun by The Daily Mail, The Daily Express, The Sun, The Telegraph, The Independent (increasingly). In two years, the UK is going to be unliveable.

  5. Veronica says:

The image of Comey hiding is ten times more hilarious if you remember that he’s said to be very conspicuously tall – something like 6’8″? This whole administration is such an embarrassment, I’ll take my kicks when I get them.

    • Esmom says:

Yes. My biggest laugh of yesterday was reading about Comey and the drapes. Between that and Spicer hanging out in the bushes…these vivid characterizations of chaos in the White House would be really funny if they weren’t also so scary and sad.

      • cindy says:

The onion has an article about Spicer “quietly replacing the oil painting over the secret escape tunnel he has dug out of the White House” lol

    • Nicole says:

It is funny but also sad like you said. The FBI director hiding from the POTUS is ridiculous and doesn’t inspire confidence in the US from our allies

      • holly hobby says:

Well if you read the whole account. He was hiding because he didn’t want the impression of familiarity. That whole article was set up as Orangino wanting Comey to join the good old boys club. Orangino actually spotted him and called him over. Comey tried to preempt a hug with a handshake but Orangino dragged him into a hug. So it was pretty much one sided.

Orangino fired him when he knew he couldn’t get Comey to join his club.

  6. Scal says:

Thing I learned about James Comey this week:dude is 6’8. 6 feet 8 inches. Over 2 meters.

No way he was going to be able to hide in curtains. No way no how.

    • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

Also, Comey’s hands appear to be normal for a man of his height…that must kill baby fists.

    • jwoolman says:

I can believe he was hoping Trump wouldn’t notice him, though…. Saying he was trying to blend in with the drapes is a cute way of saying it. So Comey does have a sense of humor!

  7. Rapunzel says:

“believe me, there’s no collusion between myself and my campaign. Russia is fine” This man is so profoundly bad with words. The stupidity of his statements are brain cell killing.

On another note… Thanks Celebitchers for the well wishes on my job interview. I nailed it! Got word I’m a finalist for the position and will be interviewing again today…wish me continued luck!

  8. Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

The pressure is being kept up both by the leakers and the press and the cracks in Bigly Boy and his cohorts lies are getting bigger and bigger. More and more people are digging their holes deeper (Ryan, Pence et all) and perjuring themselves. All the evidence to jail them all is leaking bit by bit.

Twitter had a field day with Comey and the blue curtains, tho I had no idea he was soo tall – 6 foot 8.

  9. Lisa says:

Haha I got to see Trump’s tweet 6min after it happened and the original post had “special councel”(sic) in it

    • Esmom says:

Yeah, Twitter was all over it. As a local columnist said, we seem to have a president who is barely coherent.

  10. DenG says:

This man is very attracted to the word “very”. Yesterday was his personal best with four consecutive VERYs, and I was very, very, very, very dismayed. Obtuse humanoid.

    • Jem says:

Don’t forget he often misspells “big” words in his tweets.I honestly think he just has a limited vocabulary. He talks like my 4 year old granddaughter at times. He doesn’t read; he watches TV – he’s smart enough/books can’t teach him anything because he’s already an expert on everything. It’s just embarrassing how stupid he is.

      • Lady D says:

He actually said books can’t teach him anything? Is there such a thing as being second-hand mortified on his behalf? Rather disheartening to hear the leader of the free world decry books.

  11. TheOtherOne says:

Ok, seriously what is the deal with Mike Flynn? He misses him like a person who experienced a very dramatic romantic breakup. He is pining for a man who is single handedly the weakest and dirtiest link to Russia.

Or is Flynn the man (career, real life action in military) Trump wishes he could be? Or does Flynn know where Ivankas bodies are buried? This is a man who is loyal to no one and yet Flynn he can’t let go. I don’t get it. Any theories?

    • Rapunzel says:

Flynn is the one that has Vlad Putin’s cell number.
      Or
Flynn has receipts DT doesn’t want shown.

    • Ninks says:

Trump seems to value personal loyalty to him above all else, and Flynn is loyal to him. Trump doesn’t care about ethics or ability or experience, just that his subjects swear fealty to him. That’s why he wants to appoint his lawyer as the new FBI director, that’s why he asked Comey three times to swear personal loyalty to him. The only thing that’s going to turn Trump against Flynn is if/when turns on him to save his own ass and cooperates with the investigation.

(Completely off topic here – but does anybody else think the previous story/next story buttons are on the wrong side? It confuses me every time.)

    • swak says:

Most likely he has sufficient evidence that will take down the administration. What is intriguing is that it is being reported that Flynn may not turn over documents that were subpoenaed to the committee for the Russian investigation. Maybe Trump is patting him on the back so that he won’t turn them over knowing what is in them. Also reported that Chavez will retire this year and not wait until elections next year.

      • Lisa says:

I think I read somewhere that if Flynn doesn’t make his documents over, he can be jailed until he complies. A few nights in jail without his creature comforts would help to change his mind IMO. Trump is going down anyway so why be eternally seen as a stooge of the worst POTUS ever. It makes me sick that these people think of themselves as better than everyone else.

      • jwoolman says:

Lisa – that would work pretty quick on me… reporters have spent many months in jail when ordered to reveal their sources, for example. If a Grand Jury orders it, I think they can languish in jail for the duration of the Grand Jury.

  12. Tate says:

The majority of the country is united in getting your corrupt ass out of the White House.

    • Clare says:

This may be true, in terms of numbers, but Trump’s supporters – who won him the election – still support him. His approval rating amongst his own supporters have not declined.

This was different for President Obama, for example, whose approval ratings (perhaps unfairly?) declines universally, including amongst his own supporters/people who voted for him.

      • Angela82 says:

Most Obama voters weren’t part of a racist cult and actually have critical thinking skills.

      • Esmom says:

Clare, I think your example of Trump’s approval ratings vs Obama’s proves that Trump supporters blindly back him no matter what.

  13. boredblond says:

A ‘witch hunt’? Oh, if we could only throw a bucket of water and hear his final words–‘Im melting..’

  14. RBC says:

With each new story about Trump’s involvement with Russia and their interfering in the 2016 election. The more I think that who knew and when is very far reaching in the Republician party.
The other Republician choices ( Cruz, Bush, Rubio etc) were not the greatest but they chose Trump? Aside from the Russian fiasco, he had no political experience and so much negative personal/business baggage. Yet, he won the race to run for President? I don’t get that at all. There might be some big name Republicans who might be in trouble along with Trump.

    • Giddy says:

Trump had the power of the bully on his side. Remember how he put each of the other candidates down? He is wily enough to come up with perfect zingers. Who could forget his calling Jeb “low energy”? He got Marco Rubio so nervous that in that one debate Rubio malfunctioned like a robot and began repeating the same talking point over and over and over. It just shows that when civility is abandoned, we are unfortunately not very far from schoolyard taunts. And his people wanted to align with the winner.

      • Esmom says:

“It just shows that when civility is abandoned, we are unfortunately not very far from schoolyard taunts.”

Yes, Trump really picked up the ball that Sarah Palin got rolling and ran with it. These horrible people changed the game with their ignorance and absolute disdain for facts, knowledge, wisdom, experience and, as you said, civility. It’s beyond appalling and so depressing.

    • jwoolman says:

There were just too many candidates in the Republican primary. Trump was well known from tv and attracted votes from people who thought he was entertaining when he mocked the other candidates. As other candidates dropped out, he just collected more votes in the primaries than anyone else. It would have been chaos if the Republicans refused to give the nomination to the winner of the primary. They should have just openly supported Hillary as the only reasonable choice, even if they disagreed with her policies. She was the only one running who was fit to govern and they knew it. Some Republicans did just that, but not enough. Cruz tried to point out to the Trumpian RNC crowd that they could vote their conscience (meaning don’t vote for Trump) but also vote for Republicans in other offices. The crowd got so ugly that Security had to escort his wife out past the angry mob.

    • ida says:

Trump’s magic is based on stupidity & money. Because he is stupid and rich he attracted people who are stupid and not rich but guess they could become rich because “look Trump is rich & MAGA”… and the GOP is entangled in the web of the Koch and the Mercer money and thought they could manipulate Trump who is stupid and somehow has to rely on them for politics. But stupid Trump does not do what the stupid GOP thought he would.. and now the cocktail of stupidity & money exploses. In the meantime China is becoming the new super power, the Allies don’t trust the US any longer and the Russians make enemies left and right. Hope American voters will not forget what this party did to your country next time (2018 & 2020).

    • Trashaddict says:

OK here is my theory for a novel: No good front runners in the Republican ball pen. Some maybe, but they’re just a little too weird for the popular vote. Here comes Dopey Donald! He’ll say whatever it takes to our constituency to get us into office! Along with a Veep who people couldn’t have stomached during the campaign, but they’ll be crying for mercy and massively relieved when Trump is dumped. Because the GOP boys in the back room know Dopey Donald’s track record for screwing things up. And the GOP will just stand back and watch the shit-storm. Back-handed way to get Pence into the Oval Office.

  15. Rice says:

Drumpf still thinks that he’s a businessman whose running his “empire” on a reality show. He thinks that he can say and do anything without consequences or accountability and that he should get away with it while getting praise from suckers. He thinks that being POTUS is very, very easy because he’s been a tremendous negotiator of things for a very, very long time. Truth is, he’s clueless about his role and the responsibilities that come with it. He’s been faking it, and duping folks, for so long that he doesn’t know how to stop. He really is Bullshitter-in-Chief.

    • Juls says:

I guess nobody told him, this is real life, not television. There is no production room where people edit what you say and do before it’s put on the air.

  16. grabbyhands says:

If it were any sane person, someone would have been able to sit him down and say “Look, at this point, you’re not just making it obvious that you’re lying about well, everything, you’re also not only contradicting known fact that has been posted over and over again with an astonishing lack of awareness of said facts, you’re also contradicting YOURSELF. Sometimes less than 24 hours after you said it”. But you can’t – the vacuum that is his brain simply refuses to accept what is staring him in the face.

With any other person, you’d sit back with the popcorn and what it all explode because that much stupidity and hubris eventually eats itself and you know there will be karmic payback so you’re not worried about the total conviction that the person has that they will walk away unscathed. But these tools all shown a relative lack of concern , which makes me wonder what other horrible shit they’ve got planned to either stop a serious investigation its tracks or create a distraction so awful that people will stop screaming for it. I cannot stand the thought of all these asshats walking away from this because they cut deals, which is what Michael Flynn is trying to engineer right now.

  17. Aiobhan Targaryen says:

So he thinks people rightfully criticising him and his awful behavior shows that we are a divided nation, but not his actual odious and confusing behavior since he starting running for president. Nothing is ever his fault. How pathetic.

I actually gaffawed when I read that line about actual jolly green giant James Comey wanting to blend in with the curtains. Like he is Tobias from Arrested Development This and Ol’ Spicey hiding amongst the bushes is hilarious.

    • third ginger says:

LOL I just read a funny article comparing the Trumps to the Bluths!

      • Aiobhan Targaryen says:

I saw a tweet from the creator of the show who did a similar and shorter comparison and now I cannot unsee it. I actually like the Bluths though.

      • third ginger says:

We love the Bluths. My family cannot wait for season 5!

  18. Nancy says:

The perineal victim. Boo hoo. He is a mockery of everything that is right with our country. This is truly one of the worse times in history thanks to him and his posse. I think before four years are over, he will be impeached, but look who is waiting in the wings to take his seat. I was listening to him cry about the witch hunt and I expected to see Alex Baldwin when I looked up. I rarely comment on his threads anymore, too exhausting and frustrating.

  19. third ginger says:

As the mother of a gay daughter, I am also concerned about Pence. No one bothered to ask him about his virulent homophobia during the campaign. Now he is undermining his “sterling reputation” by shilling and likely lying for Trump. He could go down, too.

  20. Lightpurple says:

This is the video of the attempt to blend in with the drapes.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOiCWPvQ1EQ

    • Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Bless him but until i saw this I had no idea how tall he is – he was easily the tallest person in that room.

    • Anastasia says:

OMG that is hilarious and sad at the same time!

    • Trashaddict says:

I had a boss who was that toxic once. You would hear her voice and have an instantaneous and visceral impulse to hide. I am a grown woman, I was not the only one who felt this way. So while think this is pretty funny, I also get it.

  21. Darkladi says:

I just wanted give Time Magazine a slow clap for the superior shade game (that cover!)

    • Veronica says:

I also love that they mentioned it was their first magazine cover without a subtitle in over a decade. In other words, “the situation speaks for itself.”

  22. PunkyMomma says:

That Comey thought he might be able to get away with blending into the drapes says a lot about Comey’s assessment of Trump — someone who is unfocused, scattered might be confused with a visual trick – camouflage one might say.

I can’t wait to read Comey’s memos to file regarding his contacts with Cheeto Mussolini. I’d be willing to bet somewhere in there is a conclusion by Comey that Trump is unfit for office.

    • B n A fn says:

The reason Comey did not say anything to anyone at the White House about 45 trying to influenceing him is because, I believe, he knew no one in the cabinet can be trusted. They are all compromised.

    • holly hobby says:

Comey also is wary of Rosenstein. There was an article written yesterday by his friend and he detailed some conversations they had about this whole fiasco. Rosenstein came up and although Comey said he a competent attorney and administrator. He’s also a survivor in few administrations. To paraphrase that conversation, Comey said you don’t become a “survivor” by not turning over or do something to keep alive. So yeah he’s hinting Rosenstein wouldn’t think twice about going along with stuff or saying stuff to appease the higher ups.

Anyway, whatever Rosenstein’s faults were at least he woke up and gave us Mueller. That was one big play there.

      • B n A fn says:

This just breaking on CNN: the NYT JUST REPORTED that 45 told the Russians who were in the White House last week that he fired Comey and now the pressure is off the Russian investigation and that Comey is a “nut job”. This was from the notes taken by 45 people in the White House. It’s getting HOT in the USA. Nana nana, hey hey good by.

      • Trashaddict says:

        WTF, WTF, WTF, WTF, WTF????

  23. Clare says:

Guys, the HuffPost report this morning about how Comey tried to blend into the curtains to avoid Trump….its giving me life.

  24. Lolo86lf says:

Donald Trump thought he was going to govern this country like a dictatorship, and everyone was going to execute his orders without a questions, sad!

  25. B n A fn says:

‘The entire thing has been a witch hunt, there’s no collusion’. Says who? The king of lies, lol.

  26. Eric says:

Kinda humorous that the 6’6″ to 6’8″ Comey would try to hide anywhere.

  27. justcrimmles says:

Anyone else want to constantly scream in the faces of his supporters more and more each day that passes? I’m not sure why I do, they are defiantly ignorant and stupid. Perhaps one day, science will discover a cure for this resistance to common decency and sense.

  28. winterforever says:

Why won’t congress get rid of Trump?
Because Republicans always insist on carrying a baby full term.

  29. Kristen says:

“Comey was so wary of spending any time – socially or otherwise – with the president that when he was invited to the WH, he specifically wore a dark blue suit and tried to blend in with the curtains.”

This is just incredible, isn’t it? I think this is going to be Trump’s downfall. He wanted to buddy up to Comey and he was shot down hard, and now these little embarrassing details are going public. This is the kind of thing that bothers Trump the most, knowing that someone he liked/respected thinks so little of him. It’s probably why Comey was fired, moreso than the whole Russia investigation thing, because Trump is a narcissistic, emotionally immature shell of a human being.

  30. Avery says:

    His skin is absolutely disgusting!

  31. FLORC says:

Lieberman?! I can’t… he is such a submissive rat. He will flee party lines to whomever will shelter him. That jerk does not hide the fact he can be bought at thrift store prices.

    • holly hobby says:

Lieberman should do the right thing and reject the appointment. Just like Cornyn and that other Senator. A career, bipartisan law enforcement person (FBI) should be appointed. What’s special about the FBI is that they are apolitical. WTF is he turning this into a political appt.

Also, why is he appointing someone when the FBI is currently investigating him? Conflict of interest much? The hiring for that position should be suspended until the conclusion of Mueller’s inquiry. McCabe, Rosenstein can be acting Director. No problem with that!

Cronyn et al time to put your money where your mouth is. Stop this appointment.

  32. applepie says:

Chin up guys, on the plus side, that is the complexion of a hardened drinker. It also looks like it’s gotten worse since the inauguration. …Team cirrhosis!

  33. Lucky Charm says:

Is it too much to ask for him to just stay in the Middle East and never come back? I’m sure he’d enjoy living in Saudi Arabia with his steaks and ketchup.

  34. Julia says:

He’s a very, very, very, very big liar. Sad.

  35. SusanneToo says:

New bombshell-trump told Russians in OO he fired Comey who was a “nutjob” and he(trump) felt relief because it took the pressure off the Russia probe.

  36. Liz version 700 says:

Coney was hiding in the drapes… Spicer was “among the bushes” someone grab the Constitutiin and climb up a tall tree until Bigly is gone please

  37. robyn says:

Will strongly protect American interests because that’s what I like to do, says Trump in his latest tweet. He should have added: Unless you’re Russian … then no worries you come first. 🙁

Trump has been undermining the FBI for ages and for some time now been putting Russian interests above American.

  38. why? says:

Now we know why Putin was bragging about having transcripts/tapes of Trump’s meeting with the Russians last week. He really was gloating and possibly trying to blackmail Trump. It is being reported that during his meeting with the Russians, Trump told them that he fired Comey to make the investigation stop and relieve the pressure he was getting from the Russians because of the investigation. How many times can Trump be quoted saying that he fired Comey to stop the Trump Russian investigation before he faces charges for obstruction of justice? When will the GOP finally say enough is enough and remove Trump and Pence? When are they going to hold Trump accountable for his actions?

Spicer said that Trump said this to the Russians because it was a negotiation tactic. A negotiation for what? Secondly, why is Trump trying to negotiate with the Russians while sanctions are still on them? Spicer is trying to blame Comey, but Trump has no one to blame but himself.

Already the media is setting the bar very low for Trump’s overseas meeting. They are saying he is going to be “presidential” if he can stick to script that Miller wrote for him.

    • why? says:

It’s disturbing that Rosenstein is saying that he stands by the memo he wrote on Comey. Many people have pointed out that the memo plagiarized news articles and wasn’t the normal memo that they usually write(. It just makes it seem like Trump or Sessions wrote the memo and then Rosenstein put his name on it. Rosenstein is just like Nunes. What is Trump holding over Rosenstein that he would still stick to a memo who everyone has pointed doesn’t sound like something that he would have written? People were patting Rosenstein on the back for hiring Mueller, but why do that when Rosenstein is still showing that his loyalty is to Trump? He had a chance to make it right, but he decided to continue to push Trump’s narrative.

  39. robyn says:

Here’s a twist on collusion. This entire time it seemed like Russia was helping Trump win the election through hacking, fake stories and possibly financial dealings and that Russia was making a sucker out of Trump and the US. However, is it possible Russia is actually Trump’s “victim” and that Trump promised his Russian friends a lot of US concessions should Putin’s gang succeed in helping him win.

  40. PamelaJudy says:

How badly do you think it pisses him off to see that the NYT article consistently refers to him as Mr T instead of President T?

    • jwoolman says:

I think using Mr. and Ms./Mrs. is standard New York Times style rather than using the job titles.
