Pippa Middleton & James Matthews are now honeymooning in Australia

Middleton Matthews wedding

The Daily Mail has some new photos of Pippa Middleton and James Matthews today – you can see the photos here. James and Pippa were in Sydney, Australia, and man did that paparazzo get really close to them. Almost as if it was a purposeful pap stroll. Pippa and James jetted off on their honeymoon immediately after the wedding. Apparently, they didn’t want to stay at any of the Matthews’ family’s properties, either in Scotland or St. Barts, so they went to… Tetiaroa and Australia. Interesting.

After the wedding of the year, now Pippa Middleton and her new husband, city financier James Matthews, are apparently enjoying the honeymoon of the year. Following their lavish nuptials which saw fully grown trees supplanted into a glass marquee to create an “enchanted forest” effect, Pippa and James have been spotted touching down in Sydney, Australia.

Sydney is their latest destination after spending a week island hopping their way around French Polynesia, including a stay at Tetiaroa, a tiny atoll thousands of miles south of Hawaii which was famously purchased by Marlon Brando. The newlyweds are thought to have stayed at a luxurious resort named after the actor, which costs upwards of $4,000 per night.

Now Pippa and James have touched down in Sydney, according to a report and photographs in the Daily Mail, where they have been enjoying sea plane rides, exclusive lunches and may yet be joined by Prince Harry, who is expected in Australia within the next few days to attend events to celebrate Sydney’s hosting of the 2018 Invictus Games, the Paralympic-style event for wounded servicemen that he champions.

The unsurprisingly-glowing couple were pictured boarding a water taxi on Sydney Harbor on Wednesday morning before jetting via seaplane to an exclusive riverside restaurant, Cottage Point Inn, on the Hawkesbury River. Pippa wore a Kate Spade dress and black while James is pictured wearing a pink shirt and jeans. The restaurant is one of Sydney’s most famous and has previously hosted Orlando Bloom, Cameron Diaz and Jerry Seinfeld.

James’ could, of course, have simply whisked his bride off to the Eden Roc hotel in St Barts, which his parents happily own, but that would have been far too predictable for his new love.

[From The Daily Beast]

It literally just occurred to me that they’re honeymooning south of the equator, which means they’re going to all of these places in winter. Sydney is reportedly in the midst of a cold snap, but I bet “winter” in French Polynesia is still pretty beautiful. What are the chances that Pippa and James truly meet up with Prince Harry? I say… zero. Right? Right. Also: Terribly Moderately Wealthy James sure can take a lot of time off from work, right?

Wow, in that picture James really looks like a Roald Dahl character…I can’t quite put my finger on which one, but one of the Quentin Blake illustrations…

    • susiecue says:

      Haha! Funny observation

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

The BFG I think, he is very like the Blake illustration.

    • Desperado says:

He has very unusual proportions. His shoulders are no wider than his hips. I think it always makes him look odd.

Also, in the U.K. It’s not unusual to get 5 weeks annual leave per year, especially if you’re a valued employee. 4 weeks is the minimum and you negotiate from there.

  2. FLORC says:

I bet he’s working remotely. And yea pap stroll. This family does enjoy the exposure on their own terms for personal profit.

    • SK says:

Nah… not necessarily. The paps in Australia are really aggressive. Almost all of our real celebrities move to the UK or USA for work, so the paps in Aus are really hungry for big names – normally they just get soapie stars or news anchors. Whenever someone big comes to Sydney they all go bananas. If the word went out Pippa was there they would have been there in a flash [pun pun pun]. Whilst I’m sure she doesn’t dislike the attention, there is absolutely no need in Sydney to call the paps. Why they would holiday in Sydney in winter though is beyond me!

  3. Olenna says:

With all the photos on the DM, I agree it looks like a pap stroll. And, it looks like chica dressed for the camera.

  4. Cee says:

I have a month off every year. I worked for it so no shame in it. I usually spend it backpacking through some country. Best money spent, IMO.

    • Ravenna says:

That sounds awesome. What countries have you backpacked through? Anything you’d recommend?

      • Cee says:

My last one was China and OMG I totally recommend it. I was struck by how wrong our perceptions of it are. Standing at the Great Wall was incredible and a dream from when I was very young. I also visited 2nd-tier cities (in terms of population and popularity) but was unable to visit Hong Kong. Another country I recommend is Australia. Next on my bucket list is New Zealand, and perhaps the US (in a motorhome) once the Trump administration ends.

In August I’ll be in Wales, Ireland, N. Ireland and Scotland, will hike in different national parks and go see different historical and natural landmarks. Been planning this for years and I can hardly wait.

  5. Ravenna says:

Countdown to pregnancy announcement …these two will never leave the spotlight. Ever.

    • sondg says:

I’m so over them, already, but you are right, they will never leave the spotlight.

      • BeamMeUpScottie says:

Oh dear lord! I hope you’re wrong!!!
One week of wedding coverage was enough. I am over them already. 🙁

  6. minx says:

Sounds heavenly. We had a fairly short honeymoon, work obligations etc., and now I wish we had taken more time. It’s a time where you can do nothing but relax and enjoy each other.

  7. Zondie says:

The goodwill I felt for these two following their radiant wedding photos is diminishing the longer they stay in the spotlight.

  8. LeedaBird says:

If I had their money I’d probably take a long @ss honeymoon too.

  9. lala says:

spending honeymoon on a secret island must have literally killed Pipsters. Finally some paps, finally a real chance to practice the “royal wave”, skirt blowing and extreme grinning.

  10. Karen says:

Another terrible dresser. Why all,the cutesy dresses? Plus that style does not favor her short legs.

Why not a nice pair of jeans or trousers to tour. And a handbag with a chain handle? She looks like she is doing ladies lunch! A nice cross body bag for day and a clutch for evening.

    • lala says:

because this is how royal – if – not – really – royal think they should look like for the paps.

  11. moo says:

Why is this person famous?… The sister…… not her, are deserving of photo ops, stories/gossip, etc., not this twit! Who cares if she got married, what dress she wore, who her husband is, where she’ll live, and the kids she may have? I don’t get it…….
I’ve wondered this forever, but only now ranted off and now I’m done.
Now, onward to more deserving celebrity gossip!! 😀

  12. Disco Dancer says:

James looks like an overgrown Oliver Twist who’s been deprived of porridge all his life and Pippa looks like a leather boot- a newly shined one.

  13. Beckymae says:

Coming to Sydney in winter is a brilliant idea, in summer it’s hotter than Hades! I have to shellac myself in 50+ just to go to work. Plus, Vivid Festival is on, the whole of downtown is lit up with light installations and stuff, it’s awesome. They project video installations onto the Opera House etc. Good move!

    • Lex says:

Look, while it’s ‘cold’ for us Sydneysiders… it’s like 10-14 degrees C overnight and up to 20 C during the day… so hardly winter by anyone elses standards.

Plus it’s beauuuuutiful out – clear blue skies and very sunny 😊

      • Beckymae says:

Agree! I love winter when it’s like this. Plus, I have ducted reverse cycle heating/aircon now….it’s divine for taking the edge off, lol

  14. Emily says:

The Terribly Rich James Matthews isn’t a particularly handsome man, but he looks very happy and relaxed in both the wedding and the honeymoon photos. Given the choice, I’d rather be in this marriage than her sister’s.

  15. PrincessK says:

Last week’s edition of Hello, which featured the church part of the wedding, is total proof that the Middleton’s sold the wedding, and used Meghan and Harry as bait. It actually states that the next edition of Hello, Part Two of Pippa’s wedding, will focus on the reception and feature all the glamorous guests at the reception INCLUDING MEGHAN MARKLE! and the magazine puts a picture of Meghan beside this teaser. I wonder if Meghan and Harry are happy about the way they are being used by the Middleton’s in this very tacky way. I wish they had not attended. They may have only attended to be polite. As it was Meghan and Harry left at midnight even though the party went on until 4am. I will not be surprised if Hello does a Part three of the honeymoon since they had a photographer track them every step of the way,

  16. Starlight says:

Why is Hello covering the wedding actually why is anyone covering it the event should have been a quiet affair. The Midds are turning the royals into celebrities rather than public servants it’s all got Maddona Beckham
