Kim Kardashian is launching her own beauty company, with ‘contouring creams’

Kim Kardashian attends the 2017 Forbes Women's Summit

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian at the 2017 Forbes Women’s Summit in New York. Since we no longer see Kim on a daily basis through pap strolls and selfies, I’m taken aback whenever we do get new photos of her. Her “look” changes so much, week by week. I guess “wet look” hair and eyebrows are in for 2017 in Kardashian World. Anyway, Kim is a businesswoman and I’m not shocked by her inclusion in a Forbes summit. She talked about how her current business model is moving away from licensing her name and moving towards actual ownership of brands and companies. Her latest business? A makeup company!

The OG beauty guru in the KarJenner Krew is expanding her empire. Kim Kardashian West is marking her territory in the beauty business, with a brand beauty product line that launches on June 21st. The reality TV family has a large stake in the makeup arena. In 2012, Kim, Kourtney and Khloé launched Kardashian Beauty, featuring a wide range of products. In November 2015, Kylie Jenner launched her Kylie Cosmetics empire, which has grown into a massive collection of lip, eye and cheek products. Kendall and Kourtney have gotten in on the beauty action as well, and while they haven’t created their own lines, they’ve both held roles as brand ambassadors, with partnerships with Estée Lauder and Manuka Doctor, respectively.

After creating successful apps, merchandise lines and her own lip kit collection with her sister Kylie, Kim announced her latest endeavor on Instagram, with a post that flashes the numbers 6,21,17, and links to a new Instagram account, @kkwbeauty.

Her first launch? A contouring product, of course. Kardashian shared an Instagram story announcing the news, saying,” I’m so excited to announce to you guys that I’m launching KKW Beauty.” She went on to add, “I really think you guys are gonna love it. I worked so hard on this, and we’re launching first with a contour product. It’s like a collection of cream contours. So get ready to be contoured.”

But if you thought she’d stop at makeup, you’re mistaken. Kardashian is going one step further with a fragrance in the works as well, according to a Snapchat photo that reveals bottles of fragrance, and says “KKW fragrance meeting”.

This actually sounds… smart? I’m sure you’ll yell at me for that, but would you rather buy makeup from Gwyneth Paltrow or Kim Kardashian? Who do you think knows more about makeup, honestly? And there are a lot of women out there who don’t have strong feelings about Kim Kardashian in general, but like her makeup. We can criticize all we want, but I bet this will be a huge success.

Also: Kim told the Forbes Women’s Summit that the expansion of her Kimoji product line is a huge success. Which doesn’t surprise me at all.

Will Caitlin launch a beauty company next? I don’t need Kardashian/Jenner makeup. I’ll stick with Clinique and Cover Girl

Not seeing the big trend of contouring as much as I used to. Didn’t that trend kinda plateau and trickle? I know there are ladies still contouring their face into being pretty, but how many people still contour like it’s 2014?

      • me says:

I was thinking the same thing. Highlighting is more on trend now. Actually, the natural look is the biggest trend right now. It’s funny because Kim herself said she no longer contours, yet here she is about to sell a contouring cream lol.

  2. Chaine says:

Has her chin always been this giant?

    • Pass the Covfefe says:

Did she get a chin implant to make her face look longer/thinner? Just say no, Kim. Remember what Joan Rivers looked like at the end of her life (may she RIP).

  3. PIa says:

But they already tried to enter the kosmetics world with Khroma (sp?) Beauty a few years back…it was a flop. Kylie’s success is a second wind.

    • jwoolman says:

What surprises me is that although Kim uses a lot of makeup – she uses a LOT of makeup. She has been accused of applying it with a trowel. So I would wonder how good an advisor she would be on makeup in general. I haven’t a clue myself, since I’ve never used it. Is she better than I think on the subject?

On the other hand, she probably could provide useful info on what types are better for sensitive skin, since she has to deal with psoriasis.

Kim does look quite nice in what she’s wearing in these photos.

Why Invest on this culture vulture when Fenty Beauty ( with a Rumored HOLOGRAPHIC GLOSS) is coming down the Pike? No Gracias, I’m gonna continue getting Colourpop for half the price of the Blow Up Doll’s Line, same sh*t, and give Rihanna and her Makeup lady at MELT all the coins!

    • Jensies says:

I am so excited about this. I want holographic lip gloss SO BAD and haven’t been able to find it anywhere! I will give Rih all of my money. When does this debut again?

      • QQ says:

not sure Jensies, I signed up however for the IG and the mailing list in an abundance of Caution

      • Neverwintersand says:

Inglot had holographic lip gloss for ages (at least, where i live). Check their brand store!

    • jwoolman says:

Rihanna always looks so good that her makeup advice sounds like a better match than Kim K’s.

  5. Lady D says:

“Her own beauty company” Probably stole this idea, too.

    • HK9 says:

Ha! I was going to say this but you beat me to it! This girl doesn’t do her own makeup, much less makeup for others. It will sell, and she’ll make $$ but I’m not going to be buying it. I’ll just wait to see who she copied and check them out instead.

  6. minx says:

    Go away.

  7. Tiffany :) says:

Her eyes look so strained because they are the only things on her face that can move.

The family’s “beauty” look is based on surgery, don’t know why anyone would buy cosmetics from them.

  8. Lolo86lf says:

If the quality is okay/good probably her fans will buy her beauty products. She is a business woman I will give her that.

  9. me says:

I honestly don’t think she knows much about make-up. She hires people and surrounds herself with people who do. She once said she doesn’t even know how to curl her own hair. I doubt she’s ever done her own make-up. Most of her “success” in business is due to other people’s ideas and hard work. Even her store Dash…her sisters were the ones who did most of the work but Kim took most of the credit for that. I wish someone would ask her a real business question and see how she replies. She doesn’t know the first thing about business models. All she knows is “oh that lip color is cute”. That’s it. Come on now.

contouring with plastic surgery like when when Kylie Jenner said her Michelin lips were thanks to her lipstick. her face just elongates by the day like her lying ass. i rather go natural than buy any of Kim or Gwen make-up. I truly believe in term of make-up everything was invented. It’s just the fashion du jour that makes it “new this new way of that”. I bought a Bobbi Brown book for $4,99 at Goodwill years ago and It’s still my bible.

    • minx says:

      “MIchelin lips” lol.

    • Layan says:

She (and some of her family, most notably Khloe and especially Kylie) have had entirely too much surgery. A responsible doctor would have turned them away at least 4 surgeries ago. We have a code of practice, conduct and ethics; yes, even aesthetic surgeons. We know the danger signs both mental, such as dysmorphia and dissatisfaction, and physical. Once a face has taken on that elongated look through surgery it is very difficult to rectify in a way that looks natural and it is a stepping stone to the well known “cat lady” look. She makes me sad, but her doctors make me furious. This is not responsible surgery.

      • trollontheloose says:

when I was living in L.A there was all these doc reality shows with plastic surgeons. They know what to say and ask and “cautions this and that” but in the end they always do what the patient wants. It’s money money money.. They romanticized every procedures like it wasn’t much of big deal and the clients/patients , maybe because of TV shows like RH of X, started to show up in between break lunch or with all their friends in tow to nip tuck here and there and proudly wait with a glass of champagne while gazing at someone butt lipo wrapped in the tiniest mini dress you could find on Rodeo drive but brought to you by the designers assistants. These same docs then show off their houses their dog poo, the dinner jacket that hasn’t arrived yet, the floor from Indonesia that has the wrong color, the chef who’s about to roast every damn meal possible, their wives lament at their husbands schedules “i understand he is very busy these ladies want him so bad but our boys don’t see their dads” blablabla.. Now that I live in New York I can finally see the different approach of the plastic surgeons. they are not the Gods of the Gods and are careful and not overzealous. They are all still greedy but some have ethics. They don’t cross the fine line because the clients in N.Y are more in the subtle and could destroy their reputation in a nano second (plus I think being sued in N.Y is expensive )

      • Layan says:

@trollontheloose many years ago I was given the opportunity to work in LA, but I had to turn it down because, as you say, the atmosphere and culture around surgery there is wrong and unhealthy. I have worked in Lebanon, Iran and in Europe and although there are unethical doctors worldwide, at the clinics I worked, researched and/or partnered in we were always advised to view our work through a strong “lens of ethics” if you can understand the concept. We were not afraid to say no to requests that were too much or if we believed the patient to be unwell or acting on impulse. There are stringent laws in place and, as you mentioned, the threat of being sued also keeps the unethical or particularly money-hungry surgeons in check. LA surgery frightened me completely. It seemed like the wild west.

  11. Benny says:

Her face is made from surgery, not makeup. And someone remind me of why anyone wants to look like her? Ladies, I’m waiting for the trend of FAKES to fade out. Bring back the natural beauties. Kim K’s 15 minutes should be up any minute now….

    • LAK says:

Fake has been with us since someone realised the power of make up. It just mutates into a different type of fake. Imagine, in the 18th century, rats nest towering wigs + white lead paint + patch to cover your dacial sores caused by aforementioned lead paint = height of beauty!!!

    • kellybean says:

I think my sister-in-law tries to look like her. She looks ridiculous. I like makeup and false eyelashes but I also like to look human.

  12. Chem says:

    Damn, I would buy that.

  13. Adele Dazeem says:

Hasn’t the kardashian ship kind of…sailed? I thought their ratings were in sharp decline and what with the world events these days..we are in a time of transition culturally. Aka, plastic reality losers are on the downward spiral.

Or is this just wishful thinking on my part??

  14. Nicole Savannah, GA says:

I agree with those who know she said she doesn’t know a damn thing about hair or make up and contour is dead. Like the great Kevyn Aucoin always said, it’s not contouring. It’s shaping slightly.

  15. tw says:

Yikes, now we know what happens when she’s a month late on the botox and fillers. She’s messed with her face so much that she HAS to keep up with the injections. Her face looks longer and thinner because the fillers in her cheeks and nasolabial folds are absent. And you can see some lines struggling to show through the botox on the forehead.

  16. Jag says:

I don’t think that she knows anything about makeup.

I think that she knows a lot about hiring makeup artists.

So if she is putting her name on something but collaborating with a good makeup artist who will get actual credit for his or her expertise, then yes, I would consider buying from the line.

Otherwise, she’ll get not a penny from me!
