Star: Taylor Swift & Joe Alwyn’s moms are not thrilled about this romance

Taylor Swift

About a week ago, People Magazine reported that Taylor Swift had brought Joe Alwyn to Nashville specifically so he could spend time with her parents. Taylor is very close to her folks, particularly her mom, who often travels with her on tour and more. Taylor also has a history of introducing new boyfriends to her parents very quickly once she finds a boyfriend, and as we saw with Tom Hiddleston, Taylor expects to meet her boyfriend’s family very quickly too. I think that’s understandable when you’re 19 or 20, but Taylor will be 27 this December, and it does feel like maybe she should ease up on the family introductions until she knows this sh-t it going to last longer than a few months. Anyway, the trip to Nashville was successful, according to People Magazine, mostly because Taylor is happy and no one even bothers to ask how Joe feels. But Star Magazine has some interesting JoeTay Parent Gossip: both Joe and Taylor’s moms are not convinced that JoeTay is a good thing.

Taylor Swift and boyfriend Joe Alwyn may be in mad love, but neither of their mothers is ready for bad blood!

“Andrea has seen Taylor get burned so many times and it never stops being painful,” a source tells Star. “Andrea will always be a shoulder to cry on, but Andrea’s emotionally drained. Hopefully, this latest boy won’t be too much drama.”

Meaning, Joe Alwyn’s mom, a psychotherapist, knew Taylor was trouble when she walked in.

“Dating Taylor comes with a lot of attention and she’s worried that Joe isn’t ready for that,” adds a friend of Joe Alwyn, who still lives with his parents in Crouch End, England. “Joe’s folks are afraid Taylor is going to swallow him whole!”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

“Joe’s folks are afraid Taylor is going to swallow him whole”… like a SNAKE. Because that’s what she does. If only she would try to convince us that she’s been a manipulative maneater this whole time, maybe then I would be able to get on-board the Swift Train. As for the moms… I feel Andrea’s pain and Andrea has seen all of the other guys come and go and of course she knows that Joe won’t last. They never do. But Joe’s mom is a psychotherapist?? That is very, very interesting. I would like a follow-up on this story a few months from now, after Taylor convinced the Alwyn family to do a photo-op at a lake or an amusement park or something. Imagine you’re a therapist and your son brings home Taylor Swift and she’s like “your son signed a contract and now we have to do a photo-op by some swans, that’s cool right?” Would you freak? I would freak.

  1. Tiffany says:

Swifty has been big for awhile now and her longest relationship has been with Calvin ‘I am petty to the highest degree’ Harris. Swifty, give the man a call.

  2. Clara says:

I used to go to school near Crouch End. That is as much as I have to say on this. 😄

  3. grabbyhands says:

If I was his mother, I probably wouldn’t be excited either knowing the narrative she pushes every time her relationships end. I wouldn’t anyone talking sh*t about my kid either, no matter how passive aggressively she does it. And she will.

    • Parigo says:

Exactly, she makes herself the victim while the exes get the bad press. I would NOT be happy if I were his mom either.

  4. Nancy says:

They look alike, scary…..they’re drawn to themselves. Mothers are mothers whether you’re 16 or 60, so I don’t buy her mother getting tired of Taylor’s myriad of bad romances, probably more the lying drama and Kim exposing her and the ongoing Katy war. Doesn’t make Cinderella look so innocent as she once tried to make us believe she was. The dude’s mother is probably afraid her son will be at the end of the long train of exes….or with Taylor being famous, he will disappear in her spotlight. What’s a poor girl to do, she’s become one of the broken hearted lasses she used to write about when she was still a little bit country!!!

  5. FishBeard says:

Ffs this woman is almost thirty. While I do think she was taken advantage of when she was younger (specifically Mayer and Gyllenhaal) these narratives have been cheap for some time now. She’s responsible for orchestrating her own heartbreak as much as the boyfriends who’ve caused it. And I feel no sympathy for any boy who gets with her at this point! They all must have some knowledge of her escapades.

  6. squirrelgirl says:

Even worse… she’s going to be 28 this year… not 27. Snekkity snek

    • Red says:

Yeah I was going to comment that the girl is ALREADY 27, yet she’s still acting like a teenager. I wonder when her fans will get sick of it.

  7. Honey says:

I can understand why the parents would be unhappy. The world sees Taylor go from one boyfriend to another quickly and that doesn’t look good. His parents probably aren’t excited knowing there will end up being a song about him when he splits with Taylor.
Maybe she should take a break from dating for a while

    • TheOtherOne says:

What???!!! Take a break from dating and take sometime to work on herself, you say??!! Well, Honey, there is a special place in Hades for you for that comment.

She should have listened to Tina and Amy a long time ago. The world would be a better place. This world is making me age…I have to live through Trump and a new Taylor Swift relationship. No. fair!

  8. Beatrix says:

You know what? All of this is so fake that it isn’t even worthy of comments. Apparently her PR machine either didn’t learn anything from last year or she isn’t as smart a business woman as we thought. If you’re gonna tell lies again to sell the product you manufacture, they have to at least be fresh lies. Bullshit, all of it.

    • WeAreAllMadeOfStars says:

Did anyone ever really believe that she was that smart? I think she found a schtick after her first album that people responded to and she ran with it. There’s such a thing as an instinct for what people want you to be, and most performers and politicians have it. Nothing more, nothing less. Also, she has no education beyond finishing high school on a tour bus. Sorry, but mom, dad, and the corporate team are the masterminds of the Taylor show.

  9. Ana says:

Given by how something as irrelevant as this gets attention, I can understand his mom’s concern.

  10. Kate says:

I must say I am really stunned by her new pr strategy… which is the same as the old one! People keep saying she’s this kind of pr master but she has not learned a thing since last summer and it’s the same old bs. New boyfriend rollout just in time for the new album, shading of exes and release of relationship status updates via the tabloids, photo-ops… I wonder if she will have the nerve to talk about feminism after staying radio silent during the election.

  11. browniecakes says:

For an actor, you’d think there’d be more photos of the guy out there. We went from the one extreme of a photo per minute of Hiddleswift to choose from photo A or photo B of Joe.

  12. Veronica says:

He looks like a young blonde Tim Matheson (spelling). I have been trying to figure out who he reminds me of.

  13. WeAreAllMadeOfStars says:

Who are this woman’s fans? I am asking seriously because if the fan base has been the same age for nine years, that means she keeps acquiring new seven year olds who listen to her. Legitimately curious how it all works.

On another note, it’s remarkable how little creativity she is actually displaying by rehashing the same old PR plan ad nauseum. 27 year old child mastermind she surely is not.

  14. justme says:

The problem for Joe is that he is essentially unknown right now. When his movies come out (and he has one finished and is about to start filming another), he will be identified in much of the press solely as “Taylor Swift’s boyfriend”, not as himself. Even if they break up, that will be his identity to an awful lot of people forever since it will be their first introduction to him. I’d be worried if I was his mother. (Not that he will necessarily listen to his mother!)

  15. Paris says:

We ALL are not thrilled about this romance.

  16. Alex says:

She legit cannot help herself. Another year another fake romance for Taylor the snake Swift.
No Joe this will not end well for you. It never does.

  17. Lana 234 says:

I’m not surprised that Joe’s mother would not like the idea of her son dating Taylor considering her history. I mean she does chew up men and spit them out then writes songs making herself out the be the victim. I didn’t feel sorry for her when things ended with John Mayer or Jake Gyllenhaal.

  18. MI6 says:

So much for the PR makeover. For either one of them.
It’s not selling, so let the Breakup Narrative begin.

This girl must have a closet full of condoms…..and that’s a good thing!
