These are photos of Jada Pinkett Smith in gold sequin Alexandre Vauthier at the BET Awards last night. I don’t really get this dress in that it has some burnout looks odd, like the pattern is random, especially with the big circular splotch on the stomach area, which you can see better here. It’s a bit over the top, but she’s working it I think.

A couple of weeks ago, Haute Living ran an interview with Jada in which they claimed that her two teenagers, Jaden, 18, and Willow, 16, were both living away from home for their careers. Many outlets ran with that angle, which was supported by Haute Living’s lead up as well as Jada’s quote. Here it is in context:

“It’s funny,” she laughs, “they’re not around, but they are!” With Trey living five minutes away from Jada and Will, and the others traveling around for work, you can guarantee to find the children at the Smith home when they’re in town. When they’re not with her, she can expect a phone call from them. “I don’t even have time to miss them! Willow loves to call me every day, and even Jaden, when he’s away on set, still needs to see Will and I when he gets homesick,” she notes as the young star has been away filming Life in a Year up in Toronto.

So she said specifically that Willow called her every day, which I can assume means that Willow was away from home. Only in an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the BET Awards, Jada said that only Trey and Jaden, both over 18, are out of the house, but that they do visit every day. There were also additional quotes about how Jada and Will are still going strong.

“Listen, only Jaden and Trey,” she said. “Yes, Willow hasn’t left yet. Now, she will be 18 soon and I’m sure as soon as she turns 18, she’s out. But I have two that are gone.”
“That’s what we prepare them for — to go,” she continued. “So Mommy goes, ‘Bye!’ … The thing is, Jaden lives five minutes from me. Trey lives five minutes from me. They’re at the house every day. It’s almost like as your kids get older, they actually need you more. So, I have three older kids that need me, like, more than ever! I’m like, ‘I’mma get my groove back, I got my freedom.’ It’s like, no.”
Pinkett Smith and Smith will celebrate 20 years of marriage later this year and they’re still as adorable as ever! During a visit to the New Orleans set of Girls Trip, Frazier says he witnessed some super cute PDA from the super couple.
“Between every take, these two sat together and cuddled,” Frazier gushed. “I was like, this is some real love stuff!”
“I love it when Will’s on set with me because it just makes me feel relaxed,” Pinkett Smith responded. “I feel like whenever he’s there, everything’s gonna be OK. I just, I get real mushy because he’s there and I just feel taken care of.”

Remember when Jada and Will went through that rough patch about 5-6 years ago? They seem like they go through phases, take breaks and get counseling, and then come back together again.

As for Willow and Jaden, I would ask why didn’t she clarify that Willow was away for work and is now home, but her full quote to ET is “only Jaden and Trey, they got that mixed up.” (That’s in the videoon ET’s site.) So if she told Haute Living that Willow calls her every day I guess Willow was away and now she’s back (or maybe their house is so huge they barely see each other). Jada looked really happy when she talked to ET’s Kevin Frazier about getting her freedom when her kids left. My son is away for the summer and while I miss him so much I am enjoying my free time I will admit.
