Jessica Biel: Justin Timberlake & I ‘have similar values, we believe in loyalty’

Jessica Biel: such an attractive woman, but such terrible styling instincts. She should have said “no” to everything on the cover of this Marie Claire. Like, everything, from the bangs to the top to the confused sexyface look. It’s just not great. Anyway, Biel covers the August issue of Marie Claire because she’s promoting her USA-network miniseries, The Sinner. I’ve discussed this before – I actually think it looks like an interesting miniseries, and I’m happy that Biel carved out this project for herself. She produced the miniseries and she stars as a wife and mother who kills a man in broad daylight, on the beach, with her family looking on. Here are some highlights from Biel’s Marie Claire cover story:

Becoming a mom to son Silas: “You think you’re a selfless person, and then you realize you’re not. These little people come around, and they require so much, and your schedule is really not your own, nor is it important anymore, and it’s very clear that it’s your life now revolving around this dude. I’m not that person who feels like, ‘Oh, my whole life changes for my kid, but it does.’”

On Justin Timberlake: “We have similar values; we believe in loyalty, honest. We like to have fun. We like a lot of the same things. Also, in the business, we’re all very career-oriented, and you have to be a little selfish. I understand that about my peers — about being focused and driven — and if you can find that and someone who shares the same values as you, it’s like: Score!”

Exploring her dark side: “I have challenges standing up for myself sometimes. Times when I don’t trust my own voice. And that’s the stuff I needed to bring out and explore to understand Cora. [exploring her dark side] “It’s like a drug, like an adrenaline rush. There’s a real catharsis…you’re exhausted, you are free; you feel a lot of different things. For me, it’s like a rebirth. Like I’m a phoenix rising up out of the ashes.”

On her Hollywood experience as a child actor: “My Hollywood experience as a young person was never one of those True Hollywood stories where I was left alone to my own devices with no parental supervision. There was always somebody with me.”

Her thoughts on the national political climate: “This is just where we are, and I just really, really, really want all the good work that’s been done for women and women’s rights and the environment to not get turned around.”

[From Marie Claire]

Those quotes about Justin Timberlake… what? They have similar values like loyalty and honesty (like all those times he cheated on her when they were dating?) and then she goes immediately to being career-oriented and “a little selfish.” I think that’s very telling. I honestly believe that Jessica and Justin’s marriage works because they are both focused on HIM. And just him. Their marriage is all about Justin Timberlake and how he feels. Biel just accepts that and thus, their marriage “works.”

    That is Jessica Biel??

    OMG

  2. Neelyo says:

Shania Twain called and she wants her hair back.

  3. Maria says:

She is an attractive woman yet there’s nothing really there. Like when she speaks she comes off as charasmatic as toasted bread.

Her husband is a serial cheater & attention seeker; she stuck around for all of that because she has no career or fame on her own. C’mon let’s be real.

    • Lacia Can says:

It’s another Affleck/Garner couple. Guy’s an entitled jerk and the wife turns herself inside out looking the other way.

I liked the last quote of hers, though. I’m also happy to see her bring something of her own to TV. Good for her. Not enough women producing content imo.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Reminds me of the William/Kate dynamics too (male has all the power, female waits like a doormat for eternity until male caves in and marries her, female becomes male’s appendage).

  4. KB says:

I don’t know, she kind of sounds like she’s finding her spine to me. Which is great for her, but maybe not for their relationship. But I do believe that he’s a very selfish person. Loyalty? Lol

  5. minx says:

He’s lucky to have her…he’s such a narcissist, and she seems to work around it.

    • Lalu says:

I have never understood his appeal… To anyone. I don’t find anything about him physically attractive and he doesn’t strike me as being very talented, nice, interesting, etcetera. I mean, I even get the attraction of bad boys that are jerks and not really physically attractive. Him though? I don’t get it. I suppose he has wealth and fame. But again, not sure how any of that came about.

      • Adele Dazeem says:

In total agreement. Never saw an iota of attractiveness or charm during any of his phases.

      • G says:

+1 Don’t find anything about him attractive. Biel is basically a mannequin.

  6. GreenBunny says:

It doesn’t even look like her. I’m getting Anne Hathaway vibes

  7. PettyRiperton says:

The cover is tragic, the pic of her in black would’ve been a better cover photo.

  8. Lightpurple says:

That top makes it look like her shoulder comes out of her ear. Just no

  9. Sylvie says:

we have so much in common! – we like soup, and talking, or not talking…

  10. shanaynay says:

    another nose job?

  11. detritus says:

I like the jeans? she looks unrecognizable.
And this seems like a Woody Harrelson situation. She’s so great because she worships him and puts up with all of his nonsense. Its weird how people praise this, not necessarily here.

Final thought, do you think she’s the type of girl who in conversations doesn’t have her own opinions but always says, “Well, Justin thinks….”

  12. nemera34 says:

How could any editor see that shot and think it was worthy of a cover. Jessica is not an unattractive woman. She is very attractive. She has a figure I would kill to have. But she is just missing that thing that makes her stay in your mind. It’s like she just disappears and you forget she is there. It’s hard to put a finger on it. You either have IT or you don’t. She doesn’t have IT.

    • minx says:

Yes to all of this. She has a gorgeous figure and is very attractive, but she just seems boring and has no star quality at all.

    • WingKingdom says:

The worst part of both photos is that she looks like a hostage. Her eyes are pleading “help me!” I don’t understand how that got past the editors.

  13. TippyToes says:

I have never noticed how much work she’s had done on her nose until these pictures.

  14. milla says:

She is soooo good looking but lacks sth. Oh and that top on the cover should burn in fashion hell.
Either way i do not understand the HW beauties like her. Why him? He is a child.

  15. elle says:

who the hell is that on the cover? It doesn’t look anything like Jessica Biel. At first I thought it was Kate Beckinsale, but she’s doctored her face to no longer look like herself, so I guess her old face was hanging somewhere and somebody else picked it up.

  16. Chetta B. says:

This is the one who said she was too beautiful to get movie roles … even after much facial surgeries and procedures. Meh.

  17. CatherinetheGoodEnough says:

Honest question: If you’re on the cover of a fashion mag, do you get to pick or have veto power over what you wear? I just assumed you’d be there to wear what they tell you to wear.

  18. Meg says:

The cover of people magazine with pictures of their wedding, she’s down at the bottom of the frame crouched down and his jumping with his hands in the air? I thought picking that pic for he cover was people magazines way of commenting on their realtionship:it’s all about him

  19. KiddVicious says:

I like the black outfit. I would have worn that clubbing.

I’ve always thought she was beautiful and usually wore clothes well. The clothes haven’t always been stylish, but she still wore them well.

  20. hogtowngooner says:

Agreed on the styling in the cover, but the second (all-black) photo is pretty good IMO. I know it’s super basic, but I like her street style. She accentuates her figure without looking thirsty.

And why is her waist photoshopped to hell for the cover? She’s got a BANGING bod (she’s my fitspiration lol).

    • Wisca says:

Her body used to be perfect. Fit & strong. Now she’s too thin or photoshopped to be weird looking. Good luck Jessica.

  21. Mylene - Montreal says:

This is the worst cover magazine i never saw
