Beyonce releases the first photo of twins Rumi & Sir Carter on their one-month b-day

Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today. 🙏🏽❤️👨🏽👩🏽👧🏽👶🏾👶🏾

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

May the blessings of Beysus be with us on this holy day, for the Queen Bey has descended onto this mortal earth to give us a glimpse of her royal seed. Yes, Beyonce has finally unveiled the first photos of the Carter Gemini, also known as Sir Carter and Rumi Carter. As it turns out, those names were real. Beyonce and Jay-Z actually named their son Sir Carter. I still dislike the name. But I love this Instagram.

Much like her pregnancy-announcement IG on the first day of Black History Month – which was smart, since Beyonce Studies will be taught on Black History Months for all time – Beyonce’s Carter Gemini debut seems to be almost a religious-iconographic photo. Like, she looks like the Madonna. Not Madonna Ciccone. Beyonce looks like the Virgin Mary. Which fits.

As for the rest of it… the Carter Gemini are one month old? That means they were born on June 14th. 1-4. FOUR. They are obsessed with the number four. I hope some numerology/Illuminati conspiracists can tell me what it all means. Carter Gemini, June 14, 2017. I hope it means that Sir and Rumi will usher in a new age of Beylightenment.

I love this tweet more than I can even say:

We’ve been blessed. The twins will save us all (yes this is a joke)

    • kiddo says:

Along with Baron Trump and Saint West

      • Anna says:

Why mention Baron? That ruins the joke lol
It seems to be mostly only WOC on here who are a fan of Beyoncé and realize how important she is for black women. Everyone else seems to think these are all “antics” and criticize her quite harshly for no reason (well we really know the reason deep down but still).
The comments on Beyoncé posts remind me of Daily mail now. Anyway I’m glad Kaiser and some women on here are still fans.

      • me says:

        @ Anna

Can you tell the color of people’s skin through a computer screen? I don’t see anyone announcing their own ethnicity while leaving comments. There are plenty of WOC who don’t like Beyonce and there are plenty of White women who love her. Oh by the way, I am a WOC (guess I have to mention that ?) and I’ve been a Beyonce fan since forever but even I can say this Goddess stuff is getting a bit too much lol.

      • Sarah says:

Anna, blessings to her and the babies. But she is just a ridiculous caricature of someone who believes she is some kind of queen or goddess. In reality, she is a beautiful woman who dances well, sings and is magnificent at PR.

      • Fran says:

Sh is a cultural FORCE. But that photo is tacky AF.

      • Aoife says:

Anna, there’s a big difference between realizing and recognizing her importance to WOC and automatically fawning over everything she does because she is a WOC or is so important to them – many people are bored/put off by this OTT quasi-religious imagery and that doesn’t mean they’re on the same level as Daily Mail commenters!

    • Tyrant Destroyed says:

Hopefully Global Warming will be now a far away nightmare.

    • Imqrious2 says:

Ughhh…this is just too much! Is she believing herself to be some kind of Madonna birthing new Gods? This woman (couple?) has lost the grip on the steering wheel and is off on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride! 😂 🚗

      • Coop says:

I completely agree. The unveiling of her social media posts is even extremely cocky and far too planned.
She thinks she’s holier than thou, it bleeds out her pores, and it’s a turnoff.

      • Guest says:

I agree with everything you say

      • vespernite says:

Yes! She is so damn extra! I wish she would just go away already!

      • moo says:

RIGHT??? I looked at that thinking, that’s not a picture of the babies, it’s a picture of HER in all her assumed holiness and the babes are barely legible! All about her, ALL of EVERYTHING is about HER! barf.

    • MissAmanda says:

my first thought: we’ll never know their real bday…i have (from experience) a strong feeling that they just wanted another 4 (plus it’s none of our business when her babies bdays are so…whatever)

  2. Tulip Garden says:

Hahaha! You do you, I guess.

  3. Clare says:

I cannot be the only one that thinks that photo is utterly bizarre.

    • Jegede says:

      It’s ridiculous.

Bey & Jay, have far more in common with Kim & Kanye, than their fans are ready to admit.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

They’re far worse. Kim at least knows. I can’t tell with Kanye. Bey thinks she’s the second coming and I doubt she knows how insane some of the sh*t she puts out is. Especially regarding her pregnancies/births/children. Who knows about Jay. But I’m not complaining about ANY of it because … it entertains me.

      • Aang says:

I think Kim knows she pulled a fast one and is lucky to be where she is. I know nothing of Beyoncé beyond what I read on CB, but she strikes me as totally believing her own hype. She is becoming a joke.

      • Char says:

@Jegede They happen to be worst than K², because they obviously believe they are “artists”, above everything and everyone when they truly just want to be famous as everybody else.
At least Kim is less tacky.

      • Maria_ says:

        +1000
        creepy pic by the way

      • InVain says:

        Yes x2.

      • Asiyah says:

I get the sense she’s trolling all of us with her antics.

      • jugil1 says:

        +1!!!!!!

      • vespernite says:

I was totally thinking the same thing last night….Beyonce just doesnt’ want Kim to out Beyonce her! Which Kim could totally do! LOL

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Deep down inside, they do NOT think they are better than everyone else — in fact, I believe it’s the exact opposite. Deep down inside, they are insecure and maybe have some type of inferiority complex. I say that because they’ve joined the club of people who name their kids “Prince” or “Baron” — or in this case, “Sir.” That comes from some type of insecurity/inferiority complex. Do you think anyone with real power, or who comes from old money or lineage, names their kids “Baron” or “Sir” or “Prince”? Trashy Trumps, I’m also looking in your direction.

      • Wisca says:

        Mrs.Krabapple,

Could it be that experiencing generational racism has led to a belief that “You will call my son Sir” despite white supremacy? Beyonce’s parents & Solange have spoken poignantly about the racism they’ve faced. Who knows what Beyonce & JayZ have experienced despite their wealth. I’m thinking here of Oprah as a billionaire not being let into Hermes or black men being slaughtered by the police or Lauryn Hill insisting on being called Miss or “Queen” Latifah or Prince’s parents’ naming of their son. This is a deeply racist society & black naming is endlessly fascinating because of it. As for Beyonce’s Mother/Goddess iconography, in the real world black women in the US have the highest maternal death rates & so do African women. If she wants to project Goddess, in the face of Macron’s excoriation of African women’s fertility (one example of the policing of black fertility outside of its labor value) why not?

    • minx says:

Usually newborn pictures focus on the, uh, babies.

      • Tate says:

Lol, yes that was my first impression of the picture.

      • Alix says:

        Exactly what I was thinking!!

Oh, and girlfriend did some serious ‘shopping to her abdomen in that pic. It looks flat as a board.

      • MostlyMegan says:

Ironically the photos of her after her ‘birth’ with Blue (which I think was a fake pregnancy) were more real to life than these photos – and I think this twin pregnancy actually happened.

      • Paige says:

Yes! The photo is about 98 percent Beyonce and 2 percent babies. You can barely see the babies. It’s so pretentious. The posing and Sir Carter.

      • I would have loved to see a photo of Blue Ivy holding her new baby brother and sister. That would have been a great photo.

Even a photo of the entire family together would have been sweet.

This photo is just …. ugh. The best comment I’ve read was on the Daily Mail: It’s like she grabbed all of the narcissism in the world and ate it. Then asked for seconds.

      • MissAmanda says:

        yes! bahahaha!

      • crazydaisy says:

Gross display of narcisissm imho. Then again, maybe that’s what her fans want to see. I wouldn’t know.

      • Seraphina says:

Exactly! I had to zoom in on the babies. Poor things. Will always be I need the shadow of the all powerful Beyonce.

    • nemera34 says:

No it is ridiculous. I don’t understand any of it at all. She is not even really holding the babies. They are just there. No connection at all. Just like props.

I’m glad they are home and doing well. They looks so sweet.

      • minx says:

The babies look like part of the dress…as if they are part of the bodice or something. My eye noticed her, the flowers, the dress and the babies, in that order.

      • doofus says:

minx, me too. my initial reaction was “there are babies in that picture?…oh, THERE they are.”

      • Honey says:

I didn’t see the babies at first. It looks like they were Photoshopped in the picture and she isn’t actually holding them

    • Karen says:

I think the twins look precious.

But yes i think the shoot is odd. I get the symetry of the before and after, but there was so many comments about it looking funerary i didn’t think theyd go that route again.

    • boredblond says:

I would’ve expected nothing less..sort of surprised the lighting didn’t include a heavenly glow from above..

      • Shirleygail says:

The first thing I noticed was the light in those poor babies eyes. The second thing I noticed was her lips……she doesn’t look like what she used to! XOXO

    • Erica says:

Claire, you are not the only one im with you.Why not release normal pictures like when blue was born instead of continuing with this crazy theme pictures.

    • Beth says:

You’re not the only one! I’ll thank my mom for giving me a normal name and not posing with me in a stupid picture like this for the world to see. This is beyond ridiculous.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Showed it to the hubs and he just shook his head. I concur.

    • MostlyMegan says:

I am a huge fan but she seems to have jumped the shark now with this OTT self-deification.

    • Luca76 says:

lol yes they are so dramatic

    • Deedee says:

I’m getting tired of the Beyoncé as Madonna act, myself.

    • C says:

      Bizarre and annoying.

    • Angel says:

I miss Beyonce of 2003, who was a star but was also relatable, wore sparkle shorts and seemed like fun. Now it’s like she’s her own religion and just ?????

      • nemera34 says:

I feel this way too. But when did change into this. I wonder if it had to do with Jay Z cheating. I don’t know because it’s all very weird to me.

    • D says:

I’m glad I’m not to only one who thinks that the photo is both bizarre and ridiculous. The last time I dared to say anything even mildly negative about Beyonce, the beehive promptly attacked and told me to kill myself. They are “a bit” prone to overreacting lol

      • Honey says:

You have to be careful around the beehive. Even saying the tiniest negative thing about Beyonce will make them attack you with all their bee stingers. They tend to overreact and are overprotective of their idol.
I don’t think that even the biggest Beyonce worshipers couldn’t think that this picture isn’t ridiculous

      • WTW says:

I feel like I need a support club because I am a black woman who is not a huge Beyonce fan. She is just okay to me, although I do appreciate her activism in recent years regarding Ferguson, Travyon Martin, the mothers of the movement. That has made me like her more, but I was actually a bigger Jay-Z fan than Beyonce fan. Now that they are treated like deities I don’t really care about either of them. I thought Lemonade’s visuals were stunning, but I did not cry like many women said they did. I am just not feeling it. I am glad her twins are healthy, and she is doing well. That’s about all I can muster. I have heard crazed fans referring to Rumi and Sir as “my babies,” as if they will ever know these children or B and J will ever know they exist.

      • Luca76 says:

@WTW Another black woman who is just sort of meh on Beyonce I sometimes think I am just a bit too old. Like I enjoy some of her songs but I do not get the worship even a little bit.
I did have a friend that died a few years ago and she worshiped Beyonce so I get some vicarious joy thinking how much she would love and react to everything Bey does. Like She was enthralled when Blue was born so she would be ecstatic about these twins…awww getting the sads.

    • Annetommy says:

Awful. The star of the show and her flesh accessories.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

Totally bizarre and totally over the top. Like, release a photo or don’t, but who has this kind of time to think about it this much??? People too far up their own asses, IMO.

    • Pix says:

Ridiculous and bizarre. What was she thinking? How many pics did they take in this odd pose before deciding on this one? Is she wearing some sort of blue diaper to match the blue veil? So many questions. All I can say is that as they get older, B and J are looking so thirsty.

    • megan says:

      So pretentious…..

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

You know what’s worse than using a small dog as a fashion prop? Using new born babies. SUPPORT THAT BABY’S NECK, FOR GOD’S SAKE!

But that would mess up the “artistic” (ha ha — “artistic”!) vision of the publicity shot. It’s more important to get the shot right than to support a new infant’s spine, right? This is the kind of thing that makes me sick.

      • shannon says:

Seriously? Both babies look very well supported. One’s neck is supported by the mother’s arm and the other baby looks to be leaning back against mom and slightly leaning on the sibling. Neither’s head is dangling.

    • jwoolman says:

Mrs. Krabapple – Dick Gregory called one daughter Miss to make sure she would always be addressed as Miss. That title was routinely omitted by whites talking with black women in that period of our history. Maybe that was part of their thinking with Sir?

Or it could actually be a family name. Back in the late 19th and early 20th Century, for example, royal titles like Queen, King, Duke, Duchess, Prince were quite popular as given names, particularly in African-American communities for similar reasons, I suspect (some more historically knowledgeable person here may be able to say more about that). Michael Jackson actually was naming his boys after a maternal ancestor from that time period who was named Prince. He enjoyed the double meaning in his case, but it was a family name and he was honoring his mother’s family.

As far as Trump’s Barron is concerned – that’s an old name. Don’t know the origin or if it has anything to do with the title baron, but I’ve certainly heard it before.

  4. MostlyMegan says:

But why does she call them “Sir Carter and Rumi”? It’s odd phrasing to give the surname to the boy only. Can we assume Rumi is Rumi Knowles?

  5. Nyawira says:

Isnt the 4 thing is just that both she and Jay were born on the 4th and had their first meeting on the 4th.

  6. Pumpkin (formally soup, pie) says:

    1. Does that belly-bottom look real?
    2. “Sir Carter and Rumi” ? Very odd. How about Sir and Rumi Carter?

    • Mia4s says:

The belly button is a result of either bad photoshop or a tummy tuck.

Look respect to her as a business woman but to me that photo is just goofy. Eh, to each their own I guess.

      • Imqrious2 says:

That’s *definitely* a tummy tuck belly button. I know, because I have an identical one lol.

      • lizzie says:

yes. i had a single, small baby in march and my belly button looks like a melted nuclear disaster. she is shopped or stretched…either way – bless it. she looks amazing.

    • Karen says:

I was just thinking that. Is he Sir Carter Knowles-Carter, or did they not think through that people would want to only use a first name and call him “Sir” especially when paired with his sister Sir and Rumi?

    • detritus says:

I thought that was a touch strange too… I just figured thats why Bey isn’t in charge of speaking for herself any more though.

    • MissAmanda says:

because they’re aware that Sir is a dumb name without carter after it.

like the opposite of Cher…it would be weird to say Cher with a last name, but now it’s gonna be weird to say ‘sir’ without ‘carter’

that kid is going to spend his whole life turning around in stores every time somebody says ‘excuse me, sir?’ LOLOLOL

      • Tyrant Destroyed says:

I had once a classmate which name was Lady Diana. People can choose very odd names for their kids in their quest for being original.

      • kay says:

i wanted to name my first son fenris wolf.
i was shot down, but in my fantasy land he DID go by both.

  7. RBC says:

The comments on that photo are going to be classic!
    Grabbing popcorn

  8. Emma33 says:

How old would the babies have been in that photo? I am as far from a baby expert as it is possible to be…but they look almost newborn size to me.

    • Missy says:

Twins are usually a bit smaller aren’t they? I heard they were born a little premature

      • morgfunk says:

Twins are born prematurely both on accident and on purpose. I just had identical (mono-di in the twin world) twins in April and the told me twins are done cooking at 36 weeks. Fraternal twins, like she had are done between 37-38 weeks where singleton babies are typically born at 40 weeks, although it’s not uncommon to let them stay i for up to 42 weeks. So, yeah twins are smaller but not always. Mine were 5.13 lbs and 6.3 lbs for a grand total of…12 pounds of baby! And there’s no way her stomach looks like that without some help. I’m naturally tall and thin and from what I’ve heard my stomach looks great – for twins that is – no stretch marks, barely any loose skin but it is still a bit swollen and not completely flat after 3 months. I can tell its’ going to get there soon but I’d call BS on a completely flat tummy after 1 month because it takes your uterus a minimum of 6 weeks to contract down to normal size and you still have post op swelling. She did have killer abs before so maybe but probably not.

    • HelloSunshine says:

Twins are almost always smaller than a single birth and are usually premature as well, so this could be a very recent picture for sure!

    • swak says:

Twins tend to be smaller. When I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter, one of the women in our class was having twins. Each one was around 7 lbs when delivered.

      • WTW says:

@Swak 7 pounds is not premature or small. It’s normal. I was a singleton who weighed 6 pounds. Twins are probably like 4 pounds or less. They are usually taken out slightly early via C-section.

      • swak says:

@WTW – the woman was really big and did not deliver early. I was just flabbergasted at the time at how big they were! Actually that was pretty big for having twins. Most people that I know who have carried twins to term have babies around 5 lbs.

    • Geekychick says:

You can’t really judge a baby’s age by it’s size. My baby had 3kg as a newborn, woman next to me had a day younger baby that had 4.5 kg and he looked significantly older than mine. Compared to them, I looked like a fetus with my 2kg at birth.

    • Karen says:

My sister and cousin just had babies one month apart, both around due date, and only 1lb different in birth weight. My sister’s baby weighs more at one month than my cousin’s does at two. Both are happy healthy babies.

Shorter version: It’s really hard to say just looking at a newborn how old they are.

  9. HelloSunshine says:

This picture (along with her pregnancy announcement) are so bizarre but I kind of love it? Also, she’s picked an aesthetic and is sticking with it so I can appreciate that lol

Side note: Look at the tiny babies!!!! My son is six months and I miss when he was a little potato baby and just wanted to snuggle all the time. Anyway, they’ll be just as beautiful as Blue!

    • Wilma says:

yes, I kind of get the feeling there’s a public performance for us and a private way for them. Beyoncé will have a reason for the aesthetic.

    • Meghan says:

My son will be a year on August 1st and although he is 100% Mama’s boy, he gets so mad at me when I try to hold him longer than 5 seconds and squirms away. I’m like “you used to spend whole DAYS snuggling with me!”

      • Cas says:

Just wait until he is around 18 months they start to get all cuddly again, it is the best!

  10. Michelle says:

    Delusions of grandeur!

    • Diana says:

      Seriously…
The woman is talented and deserves everything she’s achieved but this…my god it is over the top.

  11. smcollins says:

Beautiful babies, but c’mon…this is a bit much. To each his own, I guess.

  12. Lucy2 says:

The photo styling is…odd, but I’m happy the twins are healthy and doing well.

Sir Carter and Rumi is a strange way to say it though, it sounds like the boy’s name is Sir Carter Carter.

    • Maria F. says:

that is what i was thinking. So the son’s name is Sir Carter Carter. Bizarre.

  13. Babs says:

I love the pic. The twins are so cute! They are so tiny, it’s impressive. I gave birth past sunday to my first born and I ‘m glad he is big because I would be terrified to harm little babies like them.
In before this thread is filled with negativity, stupid conspiracies and the usual saltiness, I’ll say congrats to the Knowles-Carter family. You are blessed and we are blessed to have you.

    • HelloSunshine says:

Congrats on your baby! Get all your snuggles in and make sure to take a few minutes for yourself everyday!

(Sorry, my son is 6 months and I tell every new mom this. I was told it and realized it’s what I needed to stay sane lol)

      • LadyGreyzilla says:

My babes are 3 and 4 now and it still holds true. They can’t run from you at that age lol. Hold them close and often. Congratulations!!!!! It’s the best thing I ever did, I hope you enjoy every minute of it you can.

      • Babs says:

Thank you ladies! I will 🙂

    • magnoliarose says:

Congratulations on your new baby. Life as you knew it will never be the same in a very good way.
Following the other poster with some advice. When the baby naps you should nap too or you will collapse eventually. Don’t worry about about body image or being supermommy. Just enjoy your new sweet baby.

    • Lynnie says:

Looks like the saltiness is already here unfortunately lmao. Congrats to you on the baby on tho 🎉😊. I have no baby tips seeing as how I’m 19 lol, but I’m sure you’re doing a great job 😊😊.

    • Lady D says:

Congratulations on your new baby, Babs. You are in for so much fun and so little sleep😁😁

  14. Annie says:

    Okay…

  15. CidyKitty says:

They’re supposed to look like money. That’s the point of photo shoots like this, it’s the same thing with the Kardashians when we see their bizarre outfits and question, this isn’t supposed to match, it isn’t supposed to be “cute” or fashionable, it’s supposed to look like money. Like richness, like wealth.

    • nemera34 says:

I prefer my Poor and penniless pictures.

    • Tulip Garden says:

I know you are right but all I’m getting is risqué Sears Portrait Studio with a capital TACKY😜

      • magnoliarose says:

Haha Yes it is budget looking as all get out. I keep thinking the babies are too little and underdressed for this silliness.

    • Lady D says:

Do you really think she sees her babies as money makers? I’m sure they will be, but I don’t think that’s what she thinks. I think this shoot shows a wild imagination.

      • M.A.F. says:

        They trademark their kids name.

      • kay says:

        agree, lady d.
it seems to me she loved motherhood so much the first time, and this time with double the love to add on….she seems, literally, to be floating on mama love.
it is keeping in theme with the pre pregnancy pics too, so it makes sense to continue the photos in that vein.

  16. Lenn says:

The photo is all about Beyonce. I agree, they have more in common with Kimye than they wish. Actually, apart from the weird babynames, i find Kim and Kanye more fown to earth.

  17. Kaye says:

Am I the only one who just. does. not. see what all the fuss is about? Not only about the twins, but the entire family. Everyone acts like Beyonce is the reincarnation of every amazing singer/entertainer ever born.

    • Originaltessa says:

I don’t like Beyoncé either. I never understood the fuss. Her songs are forgettable and her outfits her mom makes her are hideous. I truly don’t get it. And this photo is so stupid. Like who exactly does she think she is?

    • Honey says:

I never got what the big deal about her is. She’s just a basic singer who never had any songs that I liked or remember . I think she’s attractive, but not knock my socks off beautiful. Her and her husband are just full of themselves famous people. Nothing against her or her diehard fans, but what’s so special about her?

    • Jerusha says:

No, you’re not the only one.

    • hogtowngooner says:

Right there with you. The idol worship of this woman is really, really weird.

      • Fleur says:

The fact that she encourages it is even weirder. As a Roman Catholic, I find the picture offensive.

    • magnoliarose says:

      I never have either.

    • lucy2 says:

I’ve always thought she was gorgeous, and an entertaining performer, and…that’s about it. I like some of her songs, don’t like some of the others. But I know a lot of people really love her music and connect with it, so to each their own.
When fandom ventures into worship though, I get a little weirded out.

    • InVain says:

Thank you for saying this. I have never cared for her and am always too exhausted by the potential reaction to even type the words. I seriously can’t with her. I used to like and respect Jay-Z as an artist… I guess I still do… but I can’t with the two of them, especially her. I made sure to not have any of her music played at our wedding, because yes – I dislike her that much. *retreating to hiding place now*

I am right there with you. Honestly, the more rabid a fan base the more I dislike the object of their affection. I felt the same about Twilight and Angelina and Brad. A rabid fan base turns me off more than anything. I used to like Beyonce. Back in maybe 2003 or so. I just can’t get behind it anymore. Blind worship of any celebrity is a terrible thing.

    • Sami says:

What people dont get is that when you hear Beyonce mentioned in the media, its often tongue in cheek. Whether thats on Jezebel or a talk show, the hyperbole is there for giggles. Her act is over the top and people love the camp aspect because its married with a street style that makes it cooler than your mothers campy.

Her fanbase isnt any more rabid than any other. Hell, Bieber and Gaga have a much more aggressive base. But theres a lightness to Beyonces coverage thats lost on some people and that makes them say inflammatory things that seem a little racist. For example, demanding that she “cover up her flesh” when she dances in leotard even though pop stars have been wearing leotards on stage since the 70s. Or referring to her success as a product of the men in her life when no other white female star is reduced that way including people like Celine and Shania who actually did marry their managers. Its THAT component that makes people especially women of color angry. From the beginning of film you have had your white campy acts from Mae West and Monroe to Madonna and Britney but a little Beyonce brings out the Klan in you?

As for these pics. You will see posts about how she snatched our edges and oh my lord. Its a friggin joke. Their hair is still intact and right after typing that they went back to real life in the full understanding that this is just some harmless fun from a pop star that wanted to go viral.

        THANK YOU! SAY IT AGAIN.

      • I Choose Me says:

Once more for the people in the back! I was never a Beyonce fan but I’ve always respected her talent and work ethic and I flat out enjoy the chatter just the mention of her name evokes. How can anyone look at these pics and the ones before and not see that it’s all in fun? Beyonce is playing to her fans and they love her for it.

Everyone else just needs to chill.

      • Annetommy says:

I dislike her leotard stage outfits, as I disliked Madonna’s before her and others today. It’s possible to perform without looking like you are in some randy teenager’s dominatrix fantasy.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

“It’s possible to perform without looking like you are in some randy teenager’s dominatrix fantasy.” Oh please. Her and the others’ leotards tend to show as much as- and often less than- what everyday swimwear shows. You’re overly worried about women giving men boners.

    • MissAmanda says:

nobody thinks that more than beyonce. so we need to keep our chill b/c she feeds on people wanting to treat her like some goddess…

  18. Jerusha says:

They’re really full of themselves, aren’t they.

  19. Kakoo says:

I rolled my eyes so much at this nonsense that they’ve rolled out of my head and onto the floor.

    • Imqrious2 says:

Hahahahaha!! I just had a Looney Tunes vision of that happening to Daffy Duck! 😂😂😂 👁👁👁👁

  20. Dorothy#1 says:

Honest to God I just can’t with this family. 🙄

  21. Jo says:

    Ridiculous and embarrassing.

  22. Jeesie says:

The picture feels like it’s more about her (photoshopped) post baby body than the actual babies.

I’d have respected her a lot more if she’d just posted the ‘look how quickly I bounced back’ bikini pics she so obviously wanted to post and left the babies out of it.

  23. whatever says:

She’s sooooo pretentious acting like she’s the Virgin Mary and that her children are the second coming of Christ!.I liked her more when she was really discreet and didn’t even confirmed that they were married. Jay’s cheating has sure made her really insecure to the point where she has to go above and beyond to prove how fabulous she is.

Also, is her sons full name Sir Carter Carter? poor kid!

  24. Beth says:

Like when she took the picture in her undies while wearing a vail, this is taking it too far. The poor kids will be embarrassed to see this

  25. Lucy says:

There is hope for the Galaxy!!

  26. phaedra says:

That baby’s head looks like it is lolling around like a grapefruit in a sock. Hold the baby’s head! Ach! I can’t look. I have to look. Train wreck.
But I’ll say something nice: that’s a great picture of Beyonce and she’s accessorized nicely with some half-held babies. Isn’t that what she was going for? BEYby photo?

    • minx says:

My kids are adults now but I, too, reacted to the “lolling heads.” I always remember being anxious about supporting their necks.

  27. Catherinethegoodenough says:

Reading this on my phone, I didn’t even SEE the babies at first. Kept scrolling around thinking maybe I missed the baby pic. I get wanting to keep public and private images separate but this seems … off.

  28. serena says:

Sir is really an awful name.

  29. Lionia says:

Hahahahahahaha! Does she realise how cheesy this is? I hope she realises how cheesy this is!

  30. Kate says:

The pic are extra af and I looooooove her for that. That’s exactly what I need to distract myself from the treasonous administration white folks unleashed upon us.
The babies are so tiny, I would be afraid to break them! I expect any minute now the hot takes from the white mommy bloggers, pregnancy is nothing special, you’re arrogant, don’t you know your place Bey?

    • OhDear says:

I know, right? Let her have a damn moment and celebrate her newborns!

    • swak says:

Too me they are big! My daughter had twins (13 years ago) and they weighed in around 3 lbs each. Talk about tiny. They are more resilient than you know.

    • Honey says:

I’m a black mommy of twins. Each one weighed 2.5 lbs when born. Her babies don’t look extremely tiny or breakable, but it’s not like they were born yesterday. Pregnancy is a normal thing, babies are born everyday. It’s not like Beyonce is the first to have one. Everyone, not just white mommy bloggers know this fact. If this was a picture of a person who wasn’t famous, most would be laughing and saying how dumb it looks. She has the right to enjoy her babies of course, but this picture is tacky and looks like it’s all about her

      • Kate says:

OK, I don’t have kids and I’m not used to babies that young so that’s probably why they seem so tiny to me. I just looked at the old Jolie-Pitt twins (2008 already, time flies!!) and they also seem tiny so that’s probably me lol.
Regarding Beyonce, she is famous and extra in her style, her music videos. I am not surprised her babies pics are extra as hell.
And publicily slamming Beyonce for something almost every famous white women has done is something white female bloggers love to do. I remember when she announced her pregnancy, you had a succession of articles in one single morning slamming Moonlight (not inclusive enough of white folks basically), Serena Williams for her bikini pics (apparently it’s demeaning to female sport players) and Beyonce (pregnancy is nothing special).

    • Ghost says:

Is it really about race and her knowing her place if we acknowledge how ridiculous this is? Kim is a white woman and we all agreed that her baby names are silly?
I’m not American so maybe I’m not as sensitive to this stuff, but this really doesn’t seem to be about race.

      • Kate says:

Ghost, I was not talking about the babies’ names but the pics. Female celebrities love their semi nudes pregnancy photoshoots, she’s following in their footsteps even if her one is extra as hell.
And Beyonce is kind of full of herself but you know what? My grandma used to say as a black woman, you have to celebrate yourself because nobody is going to do it for you, not white women (hell, no), not black men, not society as a whole.

      • Lynnie says:

Amen amen amen Kate 🙏🏾. The absolute GLEE you can feel from some of the commenters tearing her down is just appalling.

If Bey had done a People/Vogue exclusive on the twins you’d have the same chorus of buzzkills going “Now she’s extorting and commodifying them for money jeez what a bad mother!!1!” She will never be able to do anything right for a select group of people, so why should she bother reducing herself for them.

Regarding her extraness lmao it’s Bey. Of course she’s not going to be 2003 Bey, or do a lowkey birth announcement a la Blue. Even a casual watcher would have been able to determine that as stars spend more time performing everything usually goes bigger and bolder both on stage and in their personal life. She’s also a human being (no matter what you think otherwise) and over time as you get older you CHANGE and GROW and become more CONFIDENT in yourself. If that results in Bey feeling herself more who caressssssssssssssssssss. If her fans respond to that and want more who careessssssssssssssss. If it bothers you/you’re constantly asking why about her actions just realize she’s not and never has been performing for you, and you should probably keep it moving as well since y’all claim to not careeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so much.

      • Honey says:

Ghost, race should have nothing to do with this. It’s a stupid picture and she gave her kids stupid names. People of any race would be foolish to do this. Plenty of people have given their babies awful names and overdone it with showing off their babies and their pregnancy making people groan,no matter what their race. I’m a black woman, I’ve lived in America my whole life and I think making something like this picture about race is ridiculous and being too sensitive. America has more important things to worry about

      • magnoliarose says:

I think sometimes she is maligned because of her race but I don’t think it is fair to say it is about race if you simply dislike the image. For me it is not that deep. I think it is tacky and I would think it was tacky regardless of race. No one should be attacked because of race and no one should be exempt from honest criticism either.

    • Llamas says:

What does “white” have to do with it? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions…

People seem to be able to dislike any celebrity except Beyoncé. The hive just seems to think everyone HAS to be a fan or they’re a horrible person. It’s ridiculous.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

@Kate: Agree- there’s definitely a “Know your place” aspect to it that’s heavily about gender, but seems amplified because of her race too (the comment upthread about people not having a problem with Elvis/Britney/Marilyn/Mae West/The Beatles etc. types being obsessed over by the culture but losing their shit over Beyoncé is spot-on). Women are supposed to be modest as opposed to being showy or making themselves very visible. They’re not supposed to draw attention to themselves like this. The way Beyoncé is acting goes against our unfortunately deeply Judeo-Christian society’s ideals of the way women are supposed to be (while slyly throwing in cheesy Christian imagery into it. Love it!), and the very gendered policing and shaming of how any woman chooses to celebrate her pregnancies/childbirths is very much a part of our culture. People are ready to jump on women with PERSONAL attacks the moment they dare take a pregnancy portrait or fancy portrait involving newborn babies. Women not hiding themselves brings out vitriol in people- even screaming 50-year-old American atheists who want to bitch about hijab or burqa.

In a lot of circles though (conservative, liberal, libertarian, whatever) BECAUSE OF Beyoncé’s race and gender (combined with her political beliefs, fame, and popularity) going out of one’s way to be catty/crochety about Beyoncé has become a way to signal one’s ‘coolness’ or ‘realness’, how counter-cultural/rebellious one is, or how they’re ‘not too PC’.

What’s funny is that Beyoncé is super deliberate in how she presents herself to the public as an entertainer and knows what her fans will eat up, so to some of us the showy performance in something like this is obvious and not really taken seriously. But there are some angry people who assume that she has to actually believe she’s a goddess above all others in order to present herself this way, like the concept of an artist playing up a persona to an audience is completely unheard of.

      • Becky says:

But if a person is making it a point to trash a woman/Woc celebrity to show how ‘real’ and ‘politically incorrect’ they are, isn’t that still racist and sexist, even if they’re a liberal and a democrat?

      • Otaku Fairy says:

“if a person is making it a point to trash a woman/Woc celebrity to show how ‘real’ and ‘politically incorrect’ they are, isn’t that still racist and sexist, even if they’re a liberal and a democrat?” Yep.

  31. Word says:

They share a birth date with trump.

  32. Carla says:

Have her ‘pregnancy lips’ deflated yet? Lolz

    • Otaku Fairy says:

Even in this shopped-to-hell-and back photo they already look less puffy. We need to see a photo of her that’s just her out-and-about in public though, instead of a filtered instaram selfie.

  33. honeybee blues says:

Rather than snide comments on the photo, we would all be better off focusing on gratitude at the impossibility of dying from second-hand embarrassment. If not, I would have perished within seconds of eyeing this cheese.

    • magnoliarose says:

Second hand embarrassment always makes me angry at the source. It is just cringey.

    • Bellagio DuPont says:

@ Honey bee blues: Lmao! That was effing hilarious!

Yes, the picture is rather tacky and over the top imho, but it’s really not that serious either. I think people are projecting their own cultural luggage on this image; but then again, maybe that’s the mark of great art…….it’s ability to incite reflection and comment, for better or worse.

  34. laur says:

Never had a problem with Beyonce but these pregnancy/baby pictures are just THE WORST. It’s the height of pretentiousness/narcissism IMO. She’s acting like she’s the freaking second coming or something. Women have babies all the time all around the world, in circumstances which are far from ideal, living in poverty, with disease and inequality, and here she is acting like the first woman to ever give birth. Just. Enough. Already.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

The fact that women have babies all the time and have been having them since the beginning of time doesn’t mean it isn’t still an exciting, fascinating thing that individual women are going to want to celebrate and be hyper/extra about when it happens to them, , along with fans, family, or friends. People graduate from schools, get married, have birthdays, get awards, go to proms and dances, and have anniversaries, and have baptisms, bar mitzvahs, celebrate the holidays, etc. all the time too (most of those things are actually less interesting and magical to me than the concept of birthing a human being from your body)- but there’s a reason why people are a little more concerned about policing how pregnancy is celebrated than they are about policing how those other events are celebrated- and it has nothing to do with concerns about empathy for others or psychological disorders.

      • laur says:

I know people celebrate these things all the time but the majority of the time they don’t go to this extreme. And let’s be real, she isn’t celebrating the birth of these children in this picture – this picture is all about HER, those babies are an afterthought, almost like they were forgotten about until the last moment.

I feel the same about people who go OTT on birthdays and other celebrations, it’s all a big attention-seeking grab. I work with a 35 yo woman who insists on having a birthday MONTH.

Celebrate your birth, kids, marriage, graduation, new job, whatever it is, but don’t make out that you’re some special snowflake who’s the most important person in the history of humanity to do so.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

How is anyone harmed by entertainers seeking attention through the events they want to celebrate though? Of all the things a person do to get attention (which, in and of itself, is not a bad thing,- when you work in the entertainment industry, attention is an essential part of the job- It’s about what you’re willing to do for it) some elaborate celebratory photoshoot of something like this doesn’t exactly warrant such vitriol. The way women choose to respond to pregnancy and childbirth (an experience that’s unique to one sex) definitely seems to draw more outrage than those other things- but anything that involves women making themselves seen draws comments about character, morality, and women needing to live a more modest lifestyle.

  35. GrandJen says:

Is she going to do this with every milestone? I mean when do you stop

    • Lady D says:

Who cares? She’s not hurting anyone or impacting their day in an adverse way, let her be flamboyant. Cher is, Liberace was, Richard Simmons was, RuPaul is, no big deal.

  36. Canadian Becks says:

If she was going for the deity/Madonna look, then why not a white veil, and white fabric?

That fabric she’s swaddling the babies with….pretty sure that came from my great-grandma’s sofa cover circa 1975.

All those colours! It’s too much and therefore seems low-rent trashy. The blue of her veil matches nothing. Looks like the stuff you set aside for the kids’ dress-up trunk.

    • Muhammad says:

She’s not going for the deity/Madonna look. That’s why it’s not all white and colorful.

    • JackieJormpJomp says:

Because she seems to think it’s cute to rip of Virgin of Guadalupe iconography.

I love Lemonade, but this is bullshit.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

With the way Christianity (like most of the world’s dominant religions) treats women and others I don’t care what anyone does with its’ stuff .

  37. Malificent says:

Cute kids, but the same thing I say for every Beyonce photo. You’re a grown woman and you’re not on stage — put some damned pants on!

    • Originaltessa says:

I think a picture of her in sweats and a topknot holding them on the couch would have been really nice in this day and age. Everyone cut the bs and just be real people. Our society is spiraling off a cliff. I just want something genuine.

      • WTW says:

@Original Um, no. Even normal people (at least the ones I’ve seen) don’t release photos of themselves in sweats with their newborns. That is ridiculous. Why would you expect Beyonce to make less of a deal of her children’s birth than most suburban moms do? I said upthread that I am not a Beyhive member, but a comment like this makes me wonder if race is an underlying factor in some of the Beyonce hate.

      • nemera34 says:

There have been many celebrities that release pics.. I remember the pics of the Jolie-Pitts and their babies. Angie was in a nightgown. no make up just naturally beautiful. Then we have JLo and Gwen and others fully made up and looking beautiful.

Everyone does it their way. But if you look at comments there would be comments criticizing all of these women for various reasons. This is just how it goes. I just feel the picture looks detached. Being a black woman I just find Beyonce’s picture silly and ridiculous. Nothing to do with race. Just over the top.

      • Alix says:

@wtw: I think people would (and have) said the same things about Kim K, who’s white. I don’t think these comments are about race at all, but about that special breed of people known as celebrities.

      • Originaltessa says:

@wtw Are you seriously implying I’m racist because I would have preferred this Beyoncé? http://stylesatlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/beyonce-without-makeup4.jpg
That’s just so freaking rude. Sometimes when a pop star is being ott and extra, and people are calling them ott and extra, that’s all it is. If it were Gaga or Madonna I think the comments would be similar. But unlike them, Beyonce has a real side. She’s a real girl, and I just was looking for her to be real. That’s it.

      • JackieJormpJomp says:

        @WTW

To be fair, I hate suburban mom “New mama glamour shots” as well.
Just take a picture of the damn baby; no one wants to see you go to lengths to prove how hot you are, ever, new baby or no baby.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

She doesn’t have to dress down/ be less girly to be a ‘real girl’.
“No one wants to see you go to lengths to prove how hot you are, ever, baby or no baby.”
Don’t like hot photos? Cool, don’t take them. Just know that not everybody is going to live by your beliefs on that subject or shares your tendency to be offended by those kinds of photos.

  38. Jennifer says:

How in the world does “it fit” that she looks like the Virgin Mary?

  39. HK9 says:

I don’t know what’s funnier-this pic or people thinking Beyonce would release a normal baby photo! Bey doesn’t do ordinary which is why she’s Beyonce. OTT is who & what she does. Congrats to them.

    • Kitten says:

      This though.

I saw the pic and shrugged. Sure it’s certainly not my style but I’m not freaking Beyoncé!
I don’t know…I guess I don’t get the big deal, really. Beyoncé is doing what Beyoncé does.
      *shrugs*

  40. Tiffany says:

And somewhere Casino Tangerine is thanking The Carter’s for them taking over Twitter’s news cycle.

Those babies are adorable and that photo is pure Beyonce. She is proud of this pregnancy and birth, so let her do her.

  41. Alix says:

So is the boy Sir Carter or (good Lord) Sir Carter Carter? If the latter, does that mean Rumi is the only Carter kid not to get a middle name?

  42. Would it kill her to post a photo of herself that isn’t heavily photoshopped? A woman, a real woman, doesn’t look that perfect a month after giving birth. Especially with twins! I would respect her so much more if she just stopped trying to look so perfect

    • WTW says:

@Chicken She is not an everyday woman. She is a mega superstar. Also, she doesn’t look perfect. Her legs still look swollen from pregnancy. If most women who gave birth had access to a makeup/hair/photo team, they would probably use them in their newborn release photos.

    • Lady D says:

There is a pic of her and Jay having dinner on TMZ at the moment. She looks amazing.

  43. reverie says:

    What the actual f*ck.

  44. Kate says:

If only people could be that outraged about the Kartrashians stealing from black women than about those over the top pics…

    • Lynnie says:

Lmao I wouldn’t hold my breath. It’s always crickets on those threads or my personal fave “Aren’t cultures supposed to be shareddddd?¿?¿” while missing the whole godd*mn point. Soon as Bey pops up though it’s a circle jerk of people writing dissertations about the detrimental effects of the cult of celebrity. Don’t even get me started on the general ignorance of stories/comments on this site regarding black/other POC celebs as well. It’s extremely frustrating and I can see why QQ and Almondjoy left.

      • Llamas says:

Why can’t people dislike Beyoncé? I don’t get it.. why can’t they have their own opinions?!

      • jugil1 says:

@Lynnie, I miss QQ’s witty & insightful comments. I wondered where she & AlmondJoy went? Darn….sometimes I just scolled through to look for their comments.

      • Lynnie says:

I miss them toooo jugil1 😫. I was in a insta group chat with them, but lost contact thanks to school. As soon as it ends I’m searching for them lol

      • Izzie the other says:

Agreed. This site use to be my go to because I love the writers and I feel like they’re friends in my head lol but also because while not everyone always shared similar views, we could have mature and nuanced conversation about things. The commenters have changed.. or perhaps this is what they already thought and now that Trump is president there is no need for a mask anymore.

  45. magnoliarose says:

I wouldn’t mind her OTT if it was good and high quality or had a twist of irony. But this isn’t very creative. It looks like someone saw a Frida Kahlo painting and became inspired. It just looks like a leftover wedding trellis in someone’s Malibu backyard and a whole lot of photoshop. The lighting and the background just seems lazy.
I have never understood why she can look so budget when I know she spends a lot on her clothes and weaves.

  46. Patty says:

She needs to cut it. LOL. So bizarre and ridiculous. Who the hell poses like that for a photo with their babies………

  47. Jayna says:

I felt like I was looking at Where’s Waldo? It was all about Bey and so busy, I couldn’t find the babies, at first. LOL

  48. Barbcat says:

So is she trolling us or does she really think she is the second coming??? They are so much worse than the Kardashians. Now I see why they aren’t friends anymore, Bey thinks they steal her light.

Those poor babies. They look like the fake baby in that sniper movie. The way she is holding them they look like little plastic dolls!

  49. Lynnie says:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. This site’s commenters are very transparent with their Beyoncé hate-on smh lol. Always the same chorus going on and on, about “Who buys into her hype??!1” and yet here you are clicking, racking up comments, and dissecting a picture on a celeb you supposedly couldn’t care less about. I would laugh if it wasn’t so extremely pathetic.

That being said, I like the continuity of her birth announcement theme in this picture😊😊. Sir is a dumb name, but oh well. Hope she and the twins continue to do well.

    • FishBeard says:

Chill. It’s a gossip site, not a fan forum.

      • Lynnie says:

There’s snark, because of it being said gossip forum (the best of which you’ll find on the political posts oddly enough), and then there’s just whatever the site’s readers does whenever Bey pops up. It’s always the same people, the same comments, and it’s very obvious/one-dimensional. I’m fully aware everyone doesn’t like her, but at what point do you decide you won’t click on her anymore if she bothers you that much vs. coming to ask “can anyone else not stand her” ad nauseam. At the very least get some fresh commenters/complaints in.

      • dexbex says:

I’ve been to every Beyonce concert since 2010 and love seeing her perform so I consider myself a fan. However, I think this is ridiculous and so is the medias proclamations that she’s a deity. She’s extra and I don’t see anyone having a hate-on, just mostly people expressing their opinions about how they don’t like this photoshoot. People are entitled to their opinion, even if its negative. And you seem to be the only one “racking up comments” since you’ve posted about this same topic multiple times on this article.

    • Chingona says:

While I agree that Beyoncé gets a lot of hate just for being a WOC, I don’t think that the majority of the people here are critizeing her because of that. I am a fan of her music and listen at least once a week to her, but I have never been the type to fan all out over anyone. Recently though, especially since becoming pregnant she has become over the top in the Queen Bee majesty role. She used to be a private person with her personal life, like keeping her dating life low key. Then she would turn into Sasha Fierce in order to entertain. Now it seems like she believes that she is the best there ever was and her humility is completely gone. I don’t enjoy or applaud people who think they are better than others or that they must be worshipped.

      • Alix says:

I really don’t care about Bey one way or the other, but it saddens me to think that in the year 20-freakin’-17, she — or anyone — gets hate just for being a WOC. I mean, WTF. That said, I think most, if not all, the criticism directed at her from commenters on this site is that she’s turned all Kartrashian. This newborn-introduction photo is exactly the same kind of thirsty, self-important image that Kim K would proudly post. I guess we all thought Beyoncé was a lot cooler than that.

      • Lynnie says:

Now this is discussion I can get behind!

I’m more so side-eyeing the 5 or 6 posters that always have microagressions in their post and race to write something down , and the rest who feed off of that (apparently unwittingly) and continue.

As for the goddess earth mother persona, she’s not the first woman to start feeling herself/think she’s Mother Nature when she’s pregnant and she won’t be the last. I also think some of it might be the fact that she became pregnant shortly after ending her tour for the album (of which one of the themes was black womanhood), so maybe she decided to keep that theme going (in her typical extra pattern) and finish out the Lemonade era.

I would argue that she’s still extremely private with her personal life. We didn’t know she was pregnant until she dropped the pictures, we didn’t know she had the babies until her people confirmed, and we would’ve probably never seen said babies for a while if she hand’t chosen to make an announcement. As for what she and her family are up on a more intimate level I have no idea, beyond what they put out every once in a while. She can’t control at what level the media will decide to take those scraps and formulate theories/stories/coverage which brings me to my next point…

With the BEYONCÉ album she got the attention of a younger, more internet-adept fanbase/generation. Said generation is OTT and quick to place people on pedestals. Said generation also has lots of eyes/combined spending power which = lots of ad revenue/money to earn. As a poster upthread said earlier they love campiness/visuals/and expect a lot more in the way of entertainment (even the most indie of indie bands will invest in some sort of production value since that’s what pops on the internet). I’m not surprised one bit that Beyoncé, media and co are playing up those aspects seeing as how there’s a willing market for it. That being said I think she’s still incredibly aware it’s a team effort.

I’d be interested in hearing more about what you’d have to say if you’re willing 😊

(Also @DexBex it makes sense that I’m commenting frequently on this topic seeing as how I actually like her/am discussing. Racking up comments when one doesn’t like her however is the strange part which I mentioned earlier. If you’re going to quote something quote the whole thing next time 😉)

      • Chingona says:

        @Lynnie
I agree that Beyoncé gets criticism for every little thing that most white women don’t. In about every Beyoncé post at least one person has to comment how unintelligent or uneducated Beyonce is based on how she speaks. For context, as a WOC this year I have had to stop myself from letting racism get to me. I grew up very poor and came to this country with nothing and having to learn English as a third language. Well about a year ago after my husband and I built three different businesses from nothing we were able to buy a home outright in a upper class neighborhood. My husband is a light skinned green eyed Mexican man so all of our children are also, I am not. I have been stopped by nieghbors and asked if I would want to come work for them since I am so lovely with children, or I do amazing landscaping how much do I charge just because I am outside pruning my flowers. I felt that at first that I was fraud or that I didn’t belong there. My son made me realize that I made it to the same level of success as those doctors and lawyers just in a different way and that I shouldn’t be embrassed or let them get to me. So that is why I am hoping that most are not being racist. I think or at least I hope that the majority of people here are criticizing the over the top worshiping of another individual. I don’t get the idolizeing of an individual. While I am a fan of her music ,think she has amazing shows, and she has an incredible work ethic that I admire, I am just not a fan of the Queen Bee role. I don’t know if she is just playing into it or if she truly believes it.

      • magnoliarose says:

Lynnie, I do agree there are comments that make me cringe when they attack the way she speaks. It makes me sick and angry. Lets be honest they are attacking her black southern accent. I didn’t grow up in the South but one side of my family is and when I visit there are plenty of black people who sound like Beyonce. It is a regional accent just like my relatives have an accent but theirs is considered quaint and charming. That is not fair and in her case it always seems to be interpreted as a sign of her lack of intelligence. It is offensive and it should be offensive to everyone of all races and backgrounds.

-I don’t like her style and I don’t always like her weaves. But I am just as critical about Kate Middleton or any celeb whose style I don’t like. Their race or ethnicity doesn’t matter.

-I can relate to being frustrated when there is no acknowledgement about something that is offensive and it seems smoothed over. Personally, I am offended by Jay Z’s stereotyping Jewish people and feeding into a narrative that has been dangerous and at the root of antisemitism. Jews=money or Jews run everything. It isn’t a compliment. That is what David Duke and his ilk say to make us seem threatening. He was told this years ago but he did it again on this record. I am not bringing him up as if Beyonce has anything to do with it or because we are talking about her. It is just a recent available example that has some Jewish people angry on other websites that he isn’t being called out on it.
It gets tiring and it gets exhausting I know too well. I am sure you aren’t aware of everything that offends me as I am not aware of everything that offends you. But I am willing to listen.

But in this case I think it is a matter of taste and aesthetics. There are times when it comes off narcissistic. Sometimes they do over manage their brand. Not everyone likes that style from any celeb. Look at the comments about Jennifer Garner for example. Not liking her doesn’t mean a person is racist and it feels like that is the insinuation.

      • Keely says:

Yes to everything said in this thread. I’m not a huge Beyonce fan, ( i have the greatest respect for her work ethic & achievements & think she’s talented) but like Lynnie said this stuff is for her fans that live for & expect her to do such. If it’s not for you, it’s simple ignore it.

  50. Cee says:

This is so bizarre. I still laugh at Sir Carter (the name! not the child)

  51. commonsense says:

I love it, she is having fun. It is her moment.

  52. Cinderella says:

More of the babies, please. Less of the rest of the carnival.

  53. Micki says:

Too much dress and not enough flowers.
There must be 2 babies somewhere.

  54. FishBeard says:

She looks absolutely stunning in the picture, but I stuggled to find the babies. It feels very ‘Where’s Wally?’ esqe. I’m not a parent but I don’t think that’s the desirable response to releasing the first official photos of your newborns.

  55. Anitas says:

She’s absolutely hilarious. Thanks for the laugh Bey!

  56. Reece says:

LOL The babies are out of the Mother/Goddess belly and in her arms, hence the big gaping hole in the fabric.

Although it took a minute to actually find the babies in the midst of all of that S…!

    • jwoolman says:

That’s actually the only thing wrong with the picture – the babies are “Where’s Waldo?” level hard to find. They should have figured out a way to do the colorful splash they wanted while somehow letting the babies be seen better. It may not have been an obvious problem to someone close to the babies…. they would have no problem seeing them!

I’m sure the rest of us will manage to live until better baby pictures come out.

  57. Karen says:

I feel sorry for her children if this is what she thinks is important. Why not a beautiful photo without the hype with their sister. Maybe something normal…

    • Lady D says:

You don’t know what she thinks is important, and maybe she see’s this photo as beautiful. How dare she not be normal? Come on.

  58. Jen says:

Seeing I’m by far not the only one who thinks this is just laughably weird and self-worshipping gives me hope for the world. Bey needs that friend who can take her aside and be like, “You know I love you. Maybe not as much as you love you, but we need to talk.”

  59. Niccs says:

    Isn’t the photo a play-off of her pregnacy shot…

  60. NeoCleo says:

The photo is lovely but I wish we could actually see the twins’ faces clearly.

  61. Birdie says:

Is the boy’s name Sir Carter Carter?

  62. detritus says:

People were probably clamoring for photos, if she wasn’t in the photo they’d say they weren’t hers or some nonsense. And she most likely doesn’t want to look anyting less than excellent. So I don’t blame her for posting this, nor will I criticize it. Plus she’s probably crazy proud, she just made those two little bbs, I would be crazy proud.

Plus, newborns are like little grubs, tiny, wrinkly and not very active, they never photograph well.

  63. kay says:

    Adorable little babies.
Congrats to the carter’s, can’t wait to see a pic of the three kids together.

  64. themummy says:

I do not get why people seem to worship these people. They are no better than Kardashians in terms of fame whoring. Also, I cannot stand the term “the Carter Gemini.”

And one final bit of snark–her abdomen is super photoshopped in that photo.

Actually, one more bit of snark: These babies are just props in a photo that is actually obviously completely about Beyonce. So weird.

  65. Asiyah says:

I always took the “Beyonce as deity” thing people harp on about as a JOKE. Some of y’all really think fans, media, Beyonce herself believe this? I mean this isn’t like Kanye proclaiming that he is “a God.” I don’t think I’ve ever heard Beyonce say anything to that effect or even present herself as super religious either. If anybody is taking anything too far, it’s the people who actually think her fans are dumb enough to consider her and her family the second coming. Her fans may be zealous but trust me I doubt they’re that dumb.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

Thank you. Do people not really get the concept of an entertainer playing up an image for an audience? I’m shocked that we’re outnumbered by the people who take this seriously and are like “Omigod she thinks she’s actually a deity! They all think she’s a deity!” I wonder what they’ think when white stars plays up an occult/vampire/demon imagery, or royalty, fairies, and mermaids. Do they think Ariana really believes she’s a cat or something? Or that Taylor Momsen thought she was actually a zombie?

      • Asiyah says:

For real. I’m not even a huge Beyonce fan but seeing how people react to her with such vitriol over something that is clearly a ruse, joke, or persona has actually made me an even bigger fan. Comparing her to Kim K? Kim ain’t even that bad either (I can’t believe I’m going to say this but Khloe and Kylie are way worse) but while her and Beyonce may pull stunts, they are done for different reasons. Never has Beyonce put herself out there and then complained when she gets criticized (which is something Kim does ALL. THE. TIME). Beyonce knows exactly what she’s doing and she’s having fun with it. Do I agree? No but I’ll go ahead and laugh along with her because she’s happy, healthy, and so are those babies. I know who I pray to, and it ain’t Bey, and I guarantee you she don’t pray to Bey either.

  66. Madpoe says:

took me a minute to find the newborns couldn’t see em with all that flower drama. geez!

  67. trtgfc17 says:

Tacky picture, don’t care about if she’s trying to come off artistic or not. I understand singers are artists. Leave some dignity for your kids and the relatives that want to see pictures.

    • shannon says:

I’m pretty sure the relatives see pictures we aren’t privy to, as it should be. She is an entertainer and is posting a picture as such. I was thinking maybe she doesn’t want to put out close ups of her babies, which is her right and this is just a little glimpse for her fans? I’m not getting the outrage at a picture I suspect is purposefully OTT.

  68. browniecakes says:

I’d love if George Clooney mocked this picture right down to the flowers with his new two.

  69. Kriz says:

The ego of this whole family is getting a little too much. To call a child Sir is setting them up to be entitled misfits. I do like the art of the photo though. Very Jean Paul Gautier Tachen books artsy.

  70. lisa says:

I don’t think they gave Rumi a last name. She introduced them as “Sir Carter and Rumi”, not “Sir and Rumi Carter”.

  71. Me says:

Let me put it this way: even as a non celeb I do not post pics of my kids on social media…too many freaks out there. As a celeb I would never post anything of them. You can’t present your private life and then be pissed because of paps hiding behind something and harassing you. Why do all these celebs expose their kids?

  72. IsThisReal? says:

Where are the baby pictures like this of BLUE IVY?

I think Beyonce is on another planet because this was her FIRST natural birth.

  73. Asiyah says:

Tina Knowles has cleared up that his name is Sir Carter and her name is Rumi Carter. You can check out her IG.

    My favorite Rumi poem:
    “Love Dogs”
One night a man was crying,
    ‘Allah! Allah!’
His lips grew sweet with the praising,
    until a cynic said,
    ‘So! I have heard you
calling out, but have you ever
    gotten any response?’
The man had no answer to that.
He quit praying and fell into a confused sleep.
He dreamed he saw Khidr, the guide of souls,
    in a thick, green foliage.
    ‘Why did you stop praising?’
‘Because I’ve never heard anything back.’
    ‘This longing
you express is the return message.’
The grief you cry out from
    draws you toward union.
    Your pure sadness
    that wants help
    is the secret cup.
Listen to the moan of a dog for its master.
    That whining is the connection.
    There are love dogs
no one knows the names of.
    Give your life
    to be one of them.

  74. me says:

What are the chances they were born on the 14? The Carter’s are obsessed with the number 4…was it scheduled C-section or natural birth?

  75. Skylark says:

I really dislike the narcissistic parents but glad that the little babies are home and dry. They are the very best of that ridiculously self-indulgent ‘release’.

  76. Bxhal says:

Its her babies and she and only she carried them for nine months and she can celebrate and unveil them however she wants. Luckily she will continue to live her life however she wishes and paying dust to your hateration.
    GO BEY! Killer legs girl!

  77. Kamelia says:

Meh, is all I feel for this photo. It just feels to artificial…

  78. nemera34 says:

I’m a Angie/Brad fan for many years. I get being a crazy fan. I was one. But Brad/Angie got hate and negativity for years. Still do. This is not about being a woman of color. But I don’t read or reply on all her threads nor read them.. I’m not a super Bey fan.. I love some of her songs and not others. I never followed her. And only get news from gossip sites. But going through all the years of hate against Angie/Brad.. well I see it from a different point of view.
I just don’t like the picture and the way the children are being held. I don’t know if that is hating on Bey.

Angelina gets a lot of this too and Brad. Over the top criticism. Calling her a Saint or other filthy name. Attaking him for things others don’t get it for. And sad to say and I’m being honest; some of that is because of the fan base being ridiculous over the years. I was there too. And after all that has happened with her and Brad; well my blinders are off and I won’t be doing that anymore for either of them. They are just people. I wonder if some of the push back is because her fans come at people so hard for say not liking a song or an outfit or such. Being butt hurt. Beyonce doesn’t care if people like the picture or not. They are talking about it. She is not curled up crying over internet or gossip sites trashing her. She doesn’t care. So maybe her fans should not get so upset. That is just my read.. Coming from a Brangeloonie who lived that for many many years; with the glasses finally off. Still fanning.. but with a bit more sense.

    • Izzie the other says:

I appreciate your response Nemera. I am a Brad and Angelina fan so I have seen the amount of hate they got/get on many comment sections. But the Beyoncé hate feels different to me. As black woman we are so rarely praised or celebrated… on any media platform. We are subjected to hate and criticism from other races, our own men, and even ourselves because of the harmful effects of white supremacy and white feminism. Why can’t we just be happy for a black woman, parents were hardworking and instilled those same qualities to their children. In a time when black women feel so defeated Beyonce made a visual letter telling us we are beautiful and worthy. Why can’t a black woman be extra? And the commenters in this site are now saying KimK is better than Beyoncé? Kim K who has capitalized off of black people like no other and copied black culture? Seriously? Beyonce putting some pictures on Instagram is more offensive than that?
Now, not all people like Beyoncé and even as a fan, I roll my eyes at her too, but my question is why is her over the topness less palatable than Madonna’s or any other pop star in the last 60 years?

    • magnoliarose says:

The entire community can’t be blamed for what some people who aren’t in the majority say about Kim K. She has her fans too. I don’t get it but she does. It could be Cheban or Khloe for all we know.
Taylor Swift is attacked and her Squad is thought to be stupid. No one ever has anything good to say about Justin B and his fans. Madonna got plenty of criticism and Angelina was attacked viciously over the years.
Beyonce has accomplished a lot in her life. But it doesn’t mean I have to like everything about her. I shouldn’t condescend to her by holding her to a lesser standard than I do anyone else. That in my mind is offensive. It saying I should expect less from a black performer than any other entertainer. That would ignore her success as an equal or even as a woman who overcame limitations and reached the top. I can appreciate her success without liking her artistic expression.

    • nemera34 says:

      @ izzy
I understand what you mean now after reading some of the comments. I see that too with a lot of comments. I see that when a Black performer does something and how it is never let go. How it is brought up years and years down the road. I see that. So yes there could be an undercurrent. Especially in the times we live in now. People are letting their deep hate flag rave in ways they never did before. It is sickening.

  79. Asiyah says:

“Honestly, when it comes to certain topics about race and woman of color I really try to avoid the comments on this site. ”

    *nodding*

    It’s why I barely comment.

  80. MiaMoore says:

I loved this post Kaiser…it was amazing.

  81. jferber says:

Perspective, people. You KNOW you would elect either Rumi or Sir to be president right now if that were at all possible. So they CAN save the world in this Anybody But Him nightmare.

  82. Anna Cable says:

Yep, that’s what her tummy really looks like, sure.

  83. Ozogirl says:

I love Beyonce’s music, but she really needs to go away for awhile.

  84. ValM99 says:

Now I LOVE me some Beyoncé, I think she’s amazing. But she’s obsessed with this self idolization image. Like her Grammy performance when the dancers bowed around her. She’s the only person that can get away with that. But anyways the babies look so cute! The one closest to her chest already has Jay’s nose.

  85. mkyarwood says:

All I can say about this whole thing is: She was definitely carrying these two.

  86. blonde555 says:

    She’s so basic.
Here are my babies almost falling off my arms but LOOK AT MY FLAT, PHOTOSHOPPED BELLYBUTTON ABS! LOOK! I made a cutout in my comforter to show ya’ll!

Stupid. And her lips aren’t preg lips sorry. Fake fake fake.

When did Bey turn into Mariah with all the OTT ridiculousness?

  87. Margred says:

While this photo makes my eyes roll it’s very Beyoncé, why not go all the way? The problem I have is what they namnet their kids, Rumi, yeah I can ser that as a girls name no problem but Sir?

    • jwoolman says:

It’s worth remembering that every name was considered new and unusual at some point in history.

I tend to have problems with names that are regular words and sound too funny with the last name, but many cultures use regular words to name children so that’s just my own lack of familiarity with it.

The kids will change their names or use their own preferred version of it once they’re old enough, so it won’t scar them for life. Besides, kids who torment other kids about their names will do so about well-established names also. Any kid unhappy enough to make fun of someone’s name is going to go after any perceived difference from themselves. It is so irrational that I’ve seen such kids make fun of an attribute that they themselves possess…. Weird but true.

Rather than futilely trying to name your child something that is mockery-proof, better to keep reminding your children that there are such bullies in the world, they are not happy people, and you should feel sorry for them but just go ahead and keep doing your own thing. Don’t let them control you.

  88. Hrvatima says:

Ha ha you go. Beyonce… when my kids were a month old, I was lucky to fit in a shower a day, never mind hair and makeup and a photo shoot. I’m pretty sure me in a picture with my boys that age would include crazy sleep deprived eyes with a look of desperation for a 20 minute nap…yes, My bar for happiness really was that low. She looks great!! Can’t really see the munchkins though.

  89. Anare says:

This pic of Beyoncé is LOL. At this point everything about Beyoncé and Jay Z is eye-roll inducing. They used to be so cool until they got sucked into the hype. Now they are just lame. On to the next one.
