Megan Fox fighting with mom over plans to get tattoo sleeve, cites Angelina

Megan Fox has eight tattoos in total, including the Shakespearean quote “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies” written in giant font on her back and a portrait of Marilyn Monroe on her inner right forearm. While some say Megan has “dumb ink”, it’s a matter of taste and if she likes it that’s all that matters.

The Shakespearean quote, while not that aesthetically pleasing in its tattoo form on Megan, isn’t as dumb as it sounds. I’ve looked it up and it could refer to her ambivalence at being an actress on display. (It’s from King Lear and here’s a good explanation of what it means in the context of the play.) She also has the words “There once was a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her HEART” written in huge font along her left side.

Megan isn’t done getting tattoos and is now fighting with her mom over the fact that she wants to get a full arm tattoo sleeve. Her mom, not surprisingly, wants her to stop getting inked. Her mom’s argument is that having so many tattoos will keep her from getting work when she’s older. Megan says that if Angelina Jolie can be a successful actress with all her tattoos, so can she:

“Transformers” star Megan Fox is fighting with her mom of Megan’s plan to add more tattoos to her heavily inked physique.

Megan, who already has eight tats, wants to cover her entire right arm in a tattoo “sleeve.” Her mother Darlene is not amused.

“Her mom has never understood why her daughter would want to cover her gorgeous body with tattoos,” a source revealed.

“After each new tattoo, Darlene pleased with Megan not to get more.

“Darlene believes that when Megan is a 40-year-old woman wanting to play more mature roles, people won’t want to hire her because it will be too hard to cover her tattoos,” said the source.

Megan, however, continues to point out that one of Hollywoods most sought-after talents, Angelina Jolie, also sports a number of tattoos.

“Megan said Angie is proof that a woman can have tattoos and still be successful,” added the source.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, June 15, 2009]

Among the many other idiotic things Megan Fox has said, which are frankly too numerous to bother recapping, she claimed that she gets tattoos for rebellious reasons and for the way the needle burns. She also said she finds them beautiful, but that sounds like an afterthought:

“Every time I get a tattoo, it’s a little f’ck-you to anyone who tells me not to. It’s weird to be part of Hollywood, which tries to control every aspect of people, from what they say to the color of their hair. And I like the way getting a tattoo feels. If I’m depressed, it’s nice to get one and deal with the pain. I have one all the way down to my ribs. It hurt, but it felt good like twisting a loose tooth. I’m not kidding when I say that if I ever lose a role because of my tattoos, I’ll quit Hollywood and go to work at Costco.”

“Everyone hates them because people are so closed-minded about tattoos”

“That’s something I have found. People who don’t like me as far as fans go, always talk about how I’m trashy because I have tattoos. I find that insane. This is 2008 not 1950. Tattoos aren’t limited to sailors.”

“It’s a form of art and it’s one of the oldest forms of art. I find them beautiful so I’m going to keep doing it. I’m not going to let something like that stop me.”

[Quotes via Vanishing Tattoo]

I doubt Megan is going to go work at Costco if she loses a role because of her tattoos. I hear that it’s a decent company to work for and they have good health insurance though. I love shopping there. You can’t help but think that Megan is thinking of her mom when she says that getting a tattoos is “a little f’ck-you to anyone who tells me not to.” Maybe her mom should stop bugging her about it and Megan will get so engrossed in her deep thoughts that she’ll forget all her plans for a tat sleeve.

Please. Every 16 year old girl these days has a tattoo. Im 20 and went to a catholic girls boarding school and a bunch of my friends had them by grade 10. Its not edgy or rebellious, its become a fashion trend.

Its not just that megan fox is a trashy tool, its that she tries so incedibly hard in every way to be a stereotypical angelina wannabe bad girl, but every contrived and idiotic statement she makes just makes he seem more pathetic.

    yeah…not a fan.

  2. OMG says:

Please make her shut up. Stop the Angelina references. Make it on your own merit if possible.

  3. Neelyo says:

I can’t wait until TRANSFORMERS opens so she goes away. Sick to death of her and I’ve never even seen her onscreen.

  4. BlueSkies says:

Angelina’s tatoos are cheesy and low quality, surprisingly.

  5. Jen says:

I’m sorry, but there is nothing trashier than tattoos on a woman.

  6. HEB says:

Wow she really doesn’t want to be sucessful does she?

The more tattoos you get, the more the studios will have to pay to get them airbrushed off…you might as well be fat or old–and you aren’t special enough yet to warrant the investment on such extensive airbrushing!!

  7. poppy says:

They are ugly on Angelina and they are ugly on megan!

  8. SolitaryAngel says:

    Is she talking AGAIN? :/

  9. Roma says:

I have latin script running down my side – so I am a fan of the style of tattoo that she has – but I don’t think she could have picked more hideous font. And you are right Celebitchy, they’re huge. I’m surprised she got the text that big.

  10. ima says:

The difference between her and Angelina (and I agree w/ OMG about the constant references) is that producers will actually pay to have Angelina’s tattoos covered up on film. Megan Fox working at forty? HA! HA! HA! Oh, I’ve lost my train of thought bc I was laughing so hard……

  11. viper says:

I say let her get her tattoo and live with her choices. I am NOT a fan of tattoos, it proves nothing nor does it add character or enfashions it in any way. Nor does it offer the strength that people seem to associate with people with tats. If anything young people with tats are more emotional and vulnerable and in my opinion use tats as a way to hide that vulnerablity but it doesn’t work. They THINK that once they get a tat people will think of them as strong, expressive and confident people, when in reality to the normal person they are seen as unhappy directionless people who cheapened themselves and ultimately are self-defesting. All they end up doing is scarring their otherwise perfect skin and put on display their emotional baggage.

Keep in mind this doesn’t apply to people who are in their late 30’s and up most of those people get tattoos for themselves and don’t go around trying to prove anything. there maybe SOME people of the younger generation who are like that but they are few and even then it’s never a guarntee that they won’t regret getting their tats.

  12. rbsesq says:

Angelina gets roles because (regardless of what you think of her personally) she can ACT. Megan, I hate to break it to you, but you can’t act. In a few years, no one will even remember your name.

  13. She’s over 18, right? Why is she fighting with her mother about getting a tattoo? She doesn’t need a permission slip. Drama queen. Besides getting tattoos for the wrong reasons, sounds like she’s into self-harm, too.

  14. viper says:

    SELF-DEAFEATING!***

  15. ruserious says:

okay…she is seriously pathetic. Shes just this wierd-a*s, stupid girl and TERRIBLE actress who is desperate to be like Angelina Jolie. The only reason she gets ANY press or jobs is because of the face she happened to be born with. She has to realize that even if she someday did manage to be exactly like her, no one would care. An imitation is not an original so she should be her own person.

  16. ?????? says:

I am so weary of starlets who foist themselves into the public eye then complain about the attention.
She can go to college, find a career that doesn’t require her flesh to be filmed (or covered with make-up/digitally erased) and tat her life away.
It costs productions a LOT of money to cover ink on actresses. Love her or hate her, Angelina, commands that kind of additional expense. This greasy-haired, no-talent uggo does not.

@poppy, jen and blueskies– I totally agree with you.

  17. Codzilla says:

viper: You still spelled it wrong. Try again.

  18. Sauronsarmy says:

Is Megan trying to get people to hate her? I think Transformers doesn’t come out til early July? So we still have a lot of time before she goes away.

  19. kiki says:

Megan has a tattoo on her shoulder that says We all Laugh at guilded Butterflies, something like that in one red carpet photo she is wearing a dress with a thin should strap that covers some of the words and this is what is visable BUTT FLIES lol… American tattoos are often done on a spur of the moment whim are disorganized with no unifying plan and placed on the body in disorganized way. So many tattoos are viewed as not being attractive . yes Tattoos are a fashion statement 6 out of 10 people between the ages of 18 and 40 have a tattoo or tattoo’s on their body. I seen tattoos on eldery women, lol … your grandma has them, they arent that ` trendy .
I do enjoy bad tattoos somewhat and theres a lot of bad tats out there.

  20. Devries says:

A tattoo is just a mullet you can never cut.

  21. Ashlee says:

I think she’s a beautiful girl, and tats are great…but she CANT act, and that arrogance of hers needs to take a walk.

I hate to pass judgement, but who does she think she is? I hope everything works out for her like she thinks it will.

  22. Jean says:

i dont see the issue here. its her body-if she wants a tattoo than fair enough i think it would actually look good on her i think she could pull it off. no one complains about her plastic sergery-are people complaining about her tattoos because its not considered a feminine thing? thats stupid if so.

just to pull her up on a comment though-Angelina is sort after because she is talented-somthing that seems to be vacant of a lot of hollywood stars these days. As long as your talented it wouldnt matter how many tattoos you have. i dunno about Megan i havent seen any of her work but if she’s gonna follow in Angies footsteps she needs to have the goods to back it up.

  23. the original kate says:

she fights with her mommy over getting a tattoo? wow, what a badass.

  24. I’m a moderately inked gal, with plans to become a heavily inked gal. To me, her tats scream “afterthought”.

Which is fine – to each their own. But, yeah. Afterthought.

    @ Devries – I love it!

  25. Ash says:

Angelina still gets work because she can act, honey.

  26. Ana says:

That picture of her ankles. Wow. She has sooo many spots on her legs like she didn’t shave. Maybe she should wax?

  27. czarina says:

It’s not the tattoos so much, but what struck me in her interveiw was the (pre-baby) Angelina attitude she was trying to channel.
The whole ‘I’m a rebel’ ‘I like the pain’ thing was pure early 20’s Jolie.
The difference between Megan and Angelina is that AJ was being herself. Whether you like her or not (now or then) at least AJ was not trying to impersonate anyone else.
Megan trying to imitate AJ’s youthful in-your-face attitude and ‘let me shock you’ eccentricities is what strikes such a wrong note. It just sounds so fake.

  28. jenn says:

i LOVE tattoos, bad ones, trashy ones, awesome ones. Doesn’t matter i LOVE them. They say so much about the person and that precise moment of their lives. I know with my first tattoo it was more about that moment in time and the people in my lives, and that tattoo will forever remind me of that. My other tattoo, which i got 8 years later, involved a lot more planning and thought and several meetings with the artist.
Unfortunately, a lot of tattoos nowadays really don’t say much but “i got one because it was cool, lulz!?!” Which i suspect is what Megan Fox’s are.
That and it sounds like she’s into self-harm, i wonder if she has an eating disorder. I bet that will be the next time she comes out about. Once her star starts waning.

  29. Kai says:

Seriously, grow up Megan. I’m all for tattoos if they have a meaning behind them. Like the name of a person who did, or a quote who kept you going when you were down, but hers are not meaningful.

Besides, she needs to make up her mind about Angelina (who has tasteful tattoos that actually help her character, plus can act) Megan says she can get more tattoos and be successful like Angelina, but is “too beautiful” to get good roles. Absolutly nothing to do with her acting skills… I guess Angelina gets awesome roles because she’s ugly, not.

  30. Christina X says:

Most people I know have tattoos. It’s no longer a nonconformist standard to get a tattoo.

That IS why she’s getting one, right? To be the anti-bimbo bimbo?

FFS, what kind of adult woman fights with their mother about getting a tattoo? How OLD is she? Seriously, Megan Fox reminds me of one of those spoiled, middle-class 16 year old emo kids who pretends to be all angsty and that “no-one understands them”.

AKA Megan Fox wants to get a tattoo sleeve because it’s accessory to her “badass” image. If she went to get a tattoo, she’d probably be the girl who stands there for hours without a CLUE about what she’d want to get and after a few hours decide on something stupid, like “And we will laugh at the gilded butterflies”…

    Oh wait.

And Megan Fox wouldn’t last a single day on the streets. She’s all talk and a try hard. I feel sorry for anyone gullible enough to buy into her “tough girl” routine.

  31. viper says:

LMAO!!!! Jesus I am bad aren’t I cod!!!

  32. heavenasia says:

    Viper: self-defeating
    Codzilla: spelt not spelled

  33. loldongs says:

    But MOMMMMMMM! IfAngelinacanhaveatattooandbesuccessfulthanIcantooooo!!!!

    *stomp* *huff*

    Grow the hell up.

  34. Codzilla says:

heavanasia: “Spelled” and “spelt” are both correct in this instance, but I appreciate your concern.

  35. Christina X says:

loldongs: LOL! I can actually so imagine Megan Fox doing that.

    She’s such an idiot.

  36. omondieu says:

Oh wow, her tats are so unique!

An obligatory Shakespeare quote to make you appear more cultured and well-read than you actually are?

A moon and star? A yin-yang symbol? The Chinese character for “strength”? Her partner’s name? How original. She’s like a walking clipart program.

I’ve no doubt that she’ll soon be sporting a mermaid, or a flaming heart. She just keeps getting them for the sake of getting them, and sticking with ubiquitous images that don’t require any thinking on her part. She’s so just-add-water edgy. It’s amazing.

  37. Twilight says:

I have 2 tattoos, considering a third. Mine have meaning. Rose (mom) and star (grandad). If she wants to get tattoos then fair play to her, who am I to judge. In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter. To me she will always be that bratty girl from Hope and Faith.

  38. MBIII says:

You all sound retarded. So no one can get tattoos or be blunt without trying to be like Angelina Jolie? Yeah ok. And maybe she’s fighting with her mother about it (which you don’t even know is true) because she cares and values her mother’s opinion. And she is not a bad actress. She may not be oscar worthy but she holds her own. She doesn’t like being compared to angelina either so if you’re going to sit here and run your mouths about someone maybe you should I don’t know read an interview or just know what the hell you’re talking about. And not all young peole get tattoos to look tough. And you dont know what someones tattoo means to them so who are you to judge. You people sound so naieve. I’d love to see what any of you look like. You’re probably just jealous of how gorgeous Megan is. I mean seriously what kind of pathetic people go online to look up stuff about people they dont like and then blog about it??? Haha so who’s insecure again?? Oh it’s people who get tattoos, right? LOL. What a bunch of losers I’m sure Megan would laugh in your face as well as all the other smart people out there

  39. WTF?!? says:

LOL at the stubble on her legs, offsetting the skank tat perfectly.

  40. caroline says:

    LISTEN !!

Megan fox is the best looking thing God has ever created and shes better looking than angelina and any of u

I dont think she should get a sleeve but her tattoos are nice and not trashy how is Marilyn’s face trashy???

So don’t diss cause ur jealous

  41. sheila says:

Ummm why does she have to copy everything about Angelina? To me, that’s what makes her trashy, not her tattoos.
