Mindy Kaling shows off her small baby bump at the summer upfronts

Here are some photos of Mindy Kaling and Ike Barinholtz (who recently revealed he has broken his neck) at the Summer TCA in Beverly Hills yesterday. This is basically an upfront, some advanced publicity for what will be the upcoming final season of The Mindy Project (on Hulu). It was also the first time that Mindy stepped out publicly following her big, surprise pregnancy announcement. You can see a little bump in a few of the photos, but you really have to be looking for it. Apparently, she didn’t talk specifically about her pregnancy, but she did make an interesting reference to her character and whether she still believe in the idea of a happily ever after:

“I think that we do, I think we’re romantics. I think that happily ever after can sometimes be romantic happiness and sometimes it can be a feeling of contentment with your life, as a professional and as a mother.”

[From E! News]

Mindy also announced that Julie Bowen would be making a guest appearance on the show as a woman who mom-shames Mindy. There will also be guest appearances from former series regulars like Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass, Chris Messina, Adam Pally and Glenn Howerton. What else? Spoilers: Mindy is faced with “the reality of marriage, what has lived up to expectations and what hasn’t. This character was obsessed about marriage. And frankly, she gets disillusioned with it over the season.”

I’m so over this show now but I lurved the first couple of seasons. I’m glad some old characters are coming back for guest spots – esp the Deslauriers

i love the Deslauriers so so much! …I would do such naughty things to Mark Duplass

Last season was so meh. Disappointing because I loved the first few.

I adored the first two seasons, but it after Danny left and every single guy became a love interest for Mindy (who became soooo bratty) made me lose interest completely.

I loved the first season. I was literally crying with laughter at so many of the episodes. So many great one liners. The second season was good but I stopped watching after that.

you’re truly not missing much. I have always been shocked the last few seasons that it keeps coming back. it’s like New Girl, so funny early on, now I just watch it to see what will happen to these characters, after so much time invested.

I disagree. I thought the first season was rough – good one liners, but no one was driving the bus, story-wise. The second season was strong, the third season was very very strong and after that… it was very thoughtful, still very funny, but yes, with less focus once again.

I think Mindy has looked radiant in all the pics I’ve seen lately. (I follow her IG.) She definitely has the glow. Also her skin tone in general looks great in colors that many people just can’t pull off.

Waiiiit. Danny leaves? I thought about catching up on this show since I dropped off watching it, but forget it. Danny and Mindy’s funny friction was why I watched.

    • polonoscopy says:

Keep watching! Their relationship is… real. They love each other, their friction is sexy but not sustainable, they want different things out of life and ultimately disappoint each other. Honestly, this is how a rom-com would end if they went past the happily ever after.
