Khloe Kardashian: ‘We didn’t get one dollar’ when Robert Kardashian died

2017 NBCUniversal Upfront event - Arivals

As much as I hate to admit it, the Kardashian-Jenners really do hit on some good businesses. Kylie Jenner’s makeup/lip-kit company could end up becoming a billion-dollar empire. Kim Kardashian’s video game is still raking in money. And Khloe Kardashian’s Good American jeans line is successful too. Khloe started the jeans line for women of all sizes and apparently women love it, so… there. Khloe’s good at something. To promote the line, Khloe chatted with the Daily Mail’s You Magazine, and she talks about everything – her boyfriend Tristan Thompson, whether she wants babies, how she never had an inheritance. Some highlights:

Good American jeans are empowering: “We cut them to fit a fuller figure, rather than straight up and down. We decided we would not sell in a department store unless they took the collection in all sizes. We hope to break down barriers.”

On plus sizes: “I don’t like the term plus size. Why point out that someone is bigger than someone else? I’m a [British] size 8 to 10 now, and at my biggest I was a 16 to 18, but I never considered myself fat. I don’t mean you should be 400lb [28½st], eating bags of crisps and saying, ‘Oh, I’m just big,’ but you could be size 24, work out and be healthy.

They grew up with money: “My father was incredibly wealthy. We had a mansion in Beverly Hills and Rolls-Royces. My parents would have extravagant parties. We had ponies and Ferris wheels. It was a beautiful life. My dad had grown up poor; he was self-made and proud of that, as he should have been. He was a smart man. But he was also strict: we would go to feed the homeless on Skid Row, and he didn’t believe in giving us money. None of us had credit cards when we were teenagers, even though all our friends did. My dad believed you have to work for every dollar. So from 14 we had to get summer jobs. I worked in his office as an assistant and in a clothing store, but because I was only 14, I wasn’t allowed to be on the cash register and I had to clean the back rooms and the toilets instead.”

No inheritance: “We didn’t get one dollar when he died. We got no inheritance, not his home or his cars or anything. I was working for him at the time and his company got taken away so I didn’t have a job, and it was a lot to process at one time. I don’t think people realise that none of us had trust funds. I got evicted from my apartment because I couldn’t pay my rent, so I moved in with Kourtney and we started Dash [a chain of boutiques] together. Financially, that was a good learning experience for a 19-year-old – to know that when you’re getting a pay cheque, you can’t just spend it all!

Her boyfriend loves her cooking: “I love to cook, and Tristan loves everything I make. But I don’t think men realise how long things take. I make dishes from scratch, and he’ll be, like, ‘Can you make me an apple pie?’ I say, ‘Do you know how long it takes?’ He loves Cinnabons [cinnamon rolls], so I learned how to make them by watching a YouTube video. I ended up teaching my mum to make them, too.”

Her faith: “It’s good to find someone who has the same belief system and morals as you because it makes things easy. Tristan and I are both Christians; we go to church, we pray, we’re vocal about God and spirituality. A lot of my girlfriends get pregnant without talking about things such as religion with their significant others and then find they have different belief systems to them. I’m in the best relationship I’ve ever been in and it doesn’t take a ring for me to feel that way. I believe in marriage and I want to be married again one day but I don’t have a time frame. Why do people think that marriage equates to happiness? There are a lot of people in unhealthy marriages.”

[From The Daily Mail]

I’ve heard the Kardashian sisters say before that they didn’t have trust funds, but I’ve always wondered… where DID Robert Kardashian’s money go? Did it go to his widow, the last woman he married? Did he really not leave his children ANYTHING? I remember hearing that Kris Jenner walked away with next to nothing when they divorced, but did Robert Kardashian extend that to his kids too? Besides that, of course the kids got something when their father died: they got the name “Kardashian” and all of Robert’s network of friends. Let’s be real.

As for the rest of it… I think Khloe really wants to marry Tristan and he hasn’t proposed and she’s trying to be fine with it.

Too bad they didn’t keep those values after he died.

    • LaBlah says:

His morals included helping a murderer dispose of evidence so it’s probably preferable they went with the vapid, sell your soul and the souls of your children morals of their mother instead.

  2. Pawra says:

No money to pay rent but managed to open a clothing store??

    Makes sense.

    • Neelyo says:

Beat me to it. There was some funding coming from somewhere…

    • HH says:

RIGHT?! We’re missin some plot points here.

    • Jamieee says:

Kris and Kourtney were running a successful baby clothes store next door to the store that became DASH. When it became empty Kourtney had the idea of taking it over and expanding into womenswear.

Kris and Kourtney were doing ok for themselves, but Khloe was a mess, so they put her in charge of DASH so she’d have something to do.

      • JA says:

But where did the money for that venture come from?! Such bs… they are not self made. They are shamelessly ruthless and opportunistic fame whores.

    • thaliasghost says:

Yep, I’m currently working at a non-profit which works with unemployed people trying to build up their own business. These people are rock bottom and do this out of desperation. Plenty of refugees who have no chance on the regular job market so they try opening a restaurant. Let me tell you, there is a very important difference with the people with means and connections who start a business and people at the bottom of the food chain. There is also a great difference in how you will be treated by everyone.

I’m pretty sure no Kardashian ever was treated disrespectfully or in any way in the situation of these people. This just like Gwyneth Paltrow’s ridiculous story about she ‘made it on her own’

    • Pandy says:

Right? A 19 y old has money to open a clothing store with her other do-nothing sister??? Yeah okay.. #kontroversy

    • jwoolman says:

Khloe’s claims contradict stories they told in earlier times. There might be some creative revising of history going on.

Their dad’s widow did offer to pay for Rob’s college, though. But that was probably because his mom wasn’t interested in financing it. Kourtney talked Rob into going to college because that’s what their dad wanted (Kourtney is the only other one with a college degree or any college attendance). She always seemed like the only one serious about the stores, Kim could hardly be bothered and Khloe seemed to be just floating around much of the time also although at least she did some work.

Khloe did not seem self-motivated. If her dad had lived, he probably would have pushed her to get a college education, which would have helped her considerably both by getting her away from mom and also by hanging out with a very different crowd of people with some more interesting plans for their future than going to the gym and doing their nails. She would be nothing today without her mother’s drive to make her 10%. Kim had ambition, but didn’t have the smarts for ways to get the fame she wanted.

By the way, from what I hear in gaming circles, Kim’s version of that game is winding down in the natural cycle. I’m sure her fans are still playing it, but there are a lot of competitors out there. She never made as much money as she has tried to imply. But I think the developers still regret agreeing to such a large commission on profits for licensing her image. My bet is that they and other developers won’t make that mistake again.

I don’t know if I believe that. She gets evicted from her apartment but magically has enough money to open up Dash shortly after? Is that even possible when you’re broke?

  4. Rianic says:

I find it hard to believe she’s a Euro 8/10. That’s the same size I am.

    • Savasana Lotus says:

That is a 6 or 8 here and no, her injected behind would not fit in that. She’s a taller girl and is statuesque enough to be in a U.S. 12. Perhaps she has the waist and legs tailored from a 12 to a U.S 10. I’d believe that. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that even when they are being “sincere” THIS FAMILY JUST HAS TO LIE. Their mother is a pathological liar and it is like breathing to them. They lie when it’s entirely unessesary. She didn’t have to mention her size if she was ashamed of it. Why ALWAYS lie?

  5. Kitten says:

“I worked so hard for everything I have!”
Blah blah blah…no one believes you.

    • still_sarah says:

If She wants to say she worked hard, blah, blah, that’s fine with me. Maybe she did work hard. But don’t pretend you didn’t have help or didn’t trade off your father’s name and connections to get where you are today.

    • jwoolman says:

Khloe’s pattern has always been to toss away opportunities her mother got for her by simply not bothering to learn how to do the job. She assumes she just has to “be herself” and that is sufficient. No desire to get some real education or training that would help, and she simply doesn’t have the rare talent to be able to make it without formal training. A real waste of brain cells.

      • Chetta B. says:

What brain cells? All she amounts to is a shameless liar. No nose job, eh? She’s had at least four rhinoplasties and there will be more to come. They are rebuilding her nose downward and next they will reduce her nostrils and make it narrower. That will make it at least the fifth rhinoplasty. And don’t get me started on her hideous lips or all the buccal fat removal. She looks like someone just punched her in the face. All that work actually looks uncomfortable, ugh.

  6. Green Is Good says:

Robert probably died without leaving a Will, so naturally all his assets would go to his widow.

    • Taxi says:

He was an attorney. Why do you think he didn’t have a will?

      • huckle says:

I’ve worked for attorneys for the last 21 years and I am here to tell you that just because they can give legal advice to other does not mean their own lives are in order. Doesn’t makes sense I know but its true.

    • HK9 says:

My dad died without leaving a will as well and where I live the law is similar. While, it seems strange that a lawyer with children didn’t have a will, stranger things have happened.

      • still_sarah says:

I think he would have written a will because he was a lawyer but mostly because he had a long illness (cancer?) and he knew he was dying. He had a lot of time to think about it.

    • Jamieee says:

He was super into the idea of his children supporting themselves completely . I can definitely see him purposefully excluding them.

He passed away not long after his cancer diagnosis, but he definitely had time to make or change a will, so there’s no reason to think he didn’t have his affairs in order exactly as he wanted them.

    • Lightpurple says:

      Gun, no!

    • Carol says:

In Texas at least, if you die without a will and have a spouse and children from another relationship, your estate is divided between the two. I would think other states would have similar laws to protect both sides.

  7. Cherry says:

I laughed at ” I make dishes from scratch, and he’ll be, like, ‘Can you make me an apple pie?’ ” she’s trying to sound like a perfect homemaker from the 1950s or something. Khloe, hun, your Guy won’t like you less if you quit lying about your cooking skillz and just order take out. You are a business woman with crazy ass nails. OWN that sh*t and step away from the pie dough.

    • Molly says:

Haha, YES! Also, they live in Los Angeles. It’s not like they live in the sticks where your only choice for apple pie is “from scratch” or “vending machine fruit pie” at the gas station. Postmates that sh*t.

  8. Clare says:

Yeah they got the Kardashian name, but this is really mean that much before Kim started being seeing either Paris and the subsequent tv show? I mean, the network of friends, sure – but the name itself wasn’t a ‘jackson’ or hilton’, that’s for sure. Kris made the name what it is (and pie for her kid’s souls for it).

    • still_sarah says:

I disagree. Robert Kardashian was famous for being part of OJ Simpson’s legal dream team. He was on TV everyday for months before, during and after the trial.

  9. Phyllis says:

I can’t imagine an attorney would die without a will. Especially if he knew his death was imminent…as is the case with cancer.

  10. Reef says:

I don’t see it being an easy path to marrying Tristan when his dad doesn’t really like her and wants him to get back with his child’s mother. But I’m sure she’s trying. Sidenote: Tristan is fine af.

  11. Heather says:

He might not have left trust funds for his kids because of his own past. He was a self made man according to Khoe so he probably wanted his kids to make their own way and not fall back on trust funds and do nothing else. I respect that. Children aren’t owed their parents money.

    • swak says:

But I wonder how much money he gave them out of pocket. There may not have been a trust fund but that doesn’t mean he didn’t help them out when they needed it. Just a thought.

  12. trollontheloose says:

Se left out when she and Kim stole Brandi’s mom credit card . around $120.000. they were not well off when their dad died but they were hanging out with people who were.

  13. Lightpurple says:

Tristan! Keep asking for apple pie! Daily! And Cinnabon! There’s one at every airport! Eat several each time! The Cavs need you to do this!

  14. Ang says:

Kim and Khole stole Brandi’s mom credit card and used it. Thieves too? Yuck

    • Lauren says:

Yep. They are grifters to the highest degree. They sure used the Norwoods for all they were worth and then bounced as soon as Ray J helped with their come up.

  15. Poop says:

It sounds like they had money but they spent it all… which perhaps why she was evicted from her apartment? Sounds like she had no real concept of money. She grew up rich but then was suddenly on her own. At least that’s how I interpreted it.

  16. blonde555 says:

I appreciate her honesty and she seems to be in a much happier place now but I couldn’t resist putting my finger over her bad lip job pic with the blue purse and thought ‘wow she would look so good if those lips were normal’.

    • Chetta B. says:

This is probably version #29 of her face, she’s had so much done to it. The latest round of work doesn’t look any better than the last ones. I think it’s hideous, what she’s had done. And no, the lips don’t look good at all.

  17. MiniMii says:

“I don’t think men realize how long things take…” Guess that explains why so many of the top chefs around the world are men.
“…you could be a size 24, work out, and be healthy.” No, you can’t. Science has proven that being overweight / obese is unhealthy, period.

Please Kardashians just shut up and do whatever it is you do. Be professional drama queens, design thieves, keep the plastic surgery industry alive, sell shitty make up, just go to it and leave the thinking to others. Thanks.

  18. Aurelia says:

Size 24 is “morbidly obesse”. You would be in the realm of 300+ pounds. You would have every weight associated I’ll in the book. You would have limited mobility at that weight. Good one, fit and healthy.

  19. Sjerna says:

Um–the claim that Robert Kardashian grew up poor is ridiculous. His parents owned a company with something like a few hundred employees and he went to school in an upper middle class area. Khloe you lying. That’s bull right there.

  20. TPOE says:

    She looks hideous!
