Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gives a shout out to hero boy who saved his brother

I will reiterate that as much as I adore Dwayne The Rock Johnson, I do not want him to run for President of the United States. I would, however, support him becoming our Guardian Angel. Archangel Rock, Patron Saint of US. We know he already has the costume (and looks good in wings). So, what am I going on about? We’ve read repeatedly how DJ tends to improve the lives of everyone with whom he comes in contact. Apparently, that wasn’t enough. Instead of limiting himself to those he’s met, DJ is branching out to literally saving the lives of those he hasn’t met as well. Such is the case for two-year-old Dylan O’Connor whom DJ indirectly saved from drowning. The true hero in this story is Dylan’s 10-year-old brother Jacob. Jacob’s favorite movie is San Andreas, which stars DJ. In the movie (apologies, I have not seen it) DJ performs CPR. Because Jacob has seen the movie so many times, he knew exactly what to do when he saw Dylan face down in their grandmother’s pool in Roseville, Michigan. Because of Jacob’s incredibly cool head and ability to mimic what he saw DJ doing, Dylan is alive and recovering from a devastating experience. When DJ caught wind of this, he gave the boys a shout out on his Instagram:

I cannot emphasize how important CPR training is. The Red Cross makes it very easy to take course, offering a variety of options to fit schedules. Anyway, Jacob, as you can imagine, is getting a lot of attention for his heroic efforts. He and his mom and grandmother recounted the events and the whole thing sounds so scary. I’m so proud of him – as is DJ, obviously.

But this is DJ we’re talking about. Jacob saved his brother without thinking about any danger to himself. DJ wasn’t just going to give him a thumbs’ up and an “Attaboy” was he? No. He’s going to fly the family to Vancouver, where he is filming Skyscraper, so he can shake the kids’ hand, along with myriad other shows of gratitude, I’m sure:

Oh DJ – never stop being you. And by that, I mean he should keep posting these amazing stories and showing off his sense of humor. Also on his Instagram, which I may or may not have spent several lost hours combing through because *le sigh,* DJ tried to take credit for the Solar eclipse:

I dunno – at first I thought it cruel to steal the Moon’s thunder like that but then he flexed that bicep and I was all, Moon who?

To further convince me that DJ and I would get along famously (I’m going to keep saying that until he hears me), after 16 hours of filming, a weary DJ drove off the lot only to be notified that some fans were waiting with signs and pent up adoration. It was 1:15 AM DJ’s time and his first thought was, “let’s f—k with them.” Yes, this touched my cold, dead heart. Just look how tickled he is with himself:

P.S. – I am loving the salt-and-pepper beard.

So between the never-ending font of recognizing goodness in the world and a twisted sense of humor, I officially nominate DJ Rock as our Guardian Angel. Can I get a second?

Third nom here!! I love this man. He can be president if he wants! He’s got my vote anytime, anywhere. Le sigh.

What a courageous little boy, to save his brother like that. Stories like this give me hope that our country still has good people in it who do the right thing.
