Did you know that Laurence Fishburne has been married to certified hot lady Gina Torres for 14 years? It’s true. It’s one of those underrated, under-the-radar Hollywood marriages. I actually thought Gina and Laurence were fine because you never really hear any drama about them. Except for this week, when Page Six dropped this story, with photo evidence:

People were outraged! Outraged because Gina Torres was referred to as “Laurence Fishburne’s wife.” To be fair though… Gina is a well-known and respected character actress and I’m not 100% that the average reader of Page Six would have known immediately that Gina is married to Laurence. Plus, I’ve been there with “trying to figure out a concise headline,” so Page Six has my sympathies. As for the actual story, yes, Gina was seen making out with a dude who is not her husband. Within hours, Gina released a statement to People Mag:
Black-ish star Laurence Fishburne and his wife Gina Torres split in the early fall of last year – after 14 years of marriage – the actress confirms to PEOPLE in a statement.
“With heavy hearts, Laurence and I quietly separated and began the dissolution of our marriage in the early fall of last year,” said Torres, 48. “There are no bad guys here. Only a love story with a different ending than either one of us had expected. Happily, however, our family remains intact and we will continue to raise our daughter together with love and joy and awe. As well as raise each other up with respect and love and the continued understanding that we’re in this together, if not side by side.”
Torres and Fishburne, 56, married in 2002 and share one daughter, Delilah Fishburne. The Oscar-nominated actor also has two children from a previous marriage: Montana and Langston Fishburne.
I really do hope it’s no drama, but I am feeling like…yeah, I wanna hear from Laurence Fishburne about this. As for that random dude she was making out with, his name is Kevin Wright, and Page Six says he’s “an entrepreneur and solar energy investor from Utah but now lives in Southern California. Wright was married for 20 years and recently split with his wife.” Oh, you don’t say. I wonder if Mr. Wright came along before Laurence Fishburne became Mr. Wrong.
Quick, form a prayer circle around Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance. I wouldn’t be able to handle it if they split up!!!

The timing of this is hilarious. Wait til after people see you kissing another man and now it’s a “love story”. I like Gina, but this reeks of trying to save face. I hope there was no cheating in their relationship.
I’ve been a fan of Gina since Firefly, just love her. It’s sad to see a long term relationship end, but it seems like everyone is okay with it.
According to her everyone is ok.
According to Lainey, Gina and Laurence haven’t been photographed together since a couple of years ago, and last year she told NYT she wasn’t coming back to Suits because of her personal life. It seems like their marriage has probably been over for months now.
I was about to say the same. Since Gina felt she needed to leave Suits for family issues, clearly things weren’t perfect. I think if there was drama, it would have happened when they separated.
even when there’s cheating, the cheating itself is a sign of something wrong in your relationship anyway. some people are unhappy together but stay regardless, especially when there are children involved, and don’t really face the fact their marriage is done until they’re forced to because it’s hard to ignore infidelity. it’s a sad reality, but very very common.
the cheating is a sign that there is something wrong with the cheater. all relationships have problems–not all partners cheat because of those problems.
I haven’t had cable for a few years but when I did I was obsessed with suits and most specifically, her character!
I just started watching it on Amazon and she’s amazing! So BA.

A family member of mine saw Laurence Fishburne in the West Village years ago and politely was like “I’m a big fan!” And he was very nasty. So I could see him being a grumpy handful.
I was totally about to write this off as a non-story until the last part. I always find it suspicious when two people dump their spouses around the same time.

On topic: Those two have been through a lot in the last 14 years-especially because of Montana’s (Laurence’s daughter from a previous relationship) on going issues. Sometimes you just have to let go because it doesn’t work anymore. I wish them both well.

As for Gina and Laurence I thought they were already divorced I guess because they reportedly haven’t been seen together since December 2015.

The fact that she’s dating already seems to support the claim they’ve been separated for awhile and are only making it official now. Gina isn’t so fame hungry she’d make out with a guy in public otherwise. I suppose it could have been an affair, but given the lack of stories surrounding that, I suspect otherwise.
