Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama release statements about Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein was a longtime Democratic party donor and fundraiser. He gave and raised money for Democratic congressmen, senators and presidential candidates for decades. It seemed pretty obvious that Republicans would try to politicize Harvey Weinstein’s sexual abuses as some kind “proof” that, like, Democrats don’t care about women or something? The problem is that this week is the one year anniversary of the Donald Trump Access Hollywood tape being released, aka Grab ‘Em By The P-ssy-gate. Our sitting president is an admitted sexual assailant who, like Harvey Weinstein, has been accused of sexual assault by more than a dozen women. My point? Any Trump-supporting Republican or Deplorable trying to score political points off of the Harvey Weinstein story needs to sit the f–k down. Harvey DONATED to Democrats, and those Dems are giving his contributions away and condemning him unequivocally. Republicans elected an admitted sexual assailant to the highest office of the land. Do you see the f–king difference?

Anyway, the media and the Deplorables were obsessed with getting President Obama and Hillary Clinton to issue statements about Harvey. Again, take a f–king seat. Obama isn’t president anymore. Hillary isn’t president. NO ONE NEEDS TO SAY ANYTHING. Of course Hillary got it worse, because every single person has been twisting themselves in knots to find guilt and culpability with women for Harvey’s many crimes. It can never just be a case of “wow, that guy is a pervert and a rapist.” No, apparently we have to blame women for everything. Here’s Hillary Clinton’s statement, which she released Tuesday afternoon:

“I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein. The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior.”

[From People]

Meanwhile, the Obamas were so out of loop on Hollywood gossip that they actually allowed their daughter, Malia, to intern for The Weinstein Company during her gap year. Barack Obama didn’t make reference to that in his statement. This is what he said:

“Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein. Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status. We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture — including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect — so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future.”

[From People]

I’m so glad both of our current presidents weighed in on this. Oh, wait, you mean they’re both currently private citizens and this f-cking “countdown” to when they would say anything was absurd? Oh right.

Here’s a tweet from Kellyanne Conway, adviser to the current Sexual Assailant in Chief.

Still ashy.

I don’t know…while I definitely don’t think Hillary is required to speak out on this particular issue (neither the Obamas), I do think it’s worth noting that Bill has been accused of very similar assaults by various women over the decades (you’re telling me he was buds with Jefferey Epstein for years and WASNT complicit in something, not buying it). Believing women when it comes to sexual assault (or any assault for that matter) should NOT be a partisan thing. Also fu Kellyanne, go back to the cave you’ve been in for months.

Overall I think to focus on who is saying what and when is kind of a wasted effort. There are plenty of Harvey’s out there in ALL pockets of power along with a code of silence that is required for you to get ahead/not have your career at risk or destroyed. EVERYONE KNEW something and either turned a blind eye or brushed it off because its the norm – BOTH are problematic and scary.

    • tracking says:

I agree the Bill connection is awkward, especially since Hillary is on record attacking the women who came forward. Not her finest moment, and I’ve always thought he was a dirtbag of a human being (though still a very good president, much like JFK). Sigh.

      • Betsy says:

I hate this narrative of “Hillary attacking the women.” In that instance she was a cheated on spouse, and unless I misremember, she was doing the “attcacking” privately. I’d like to hear what we’d all say to our friends in similar situations.

      • tracking says:

Betsy, I understand she was in a terrible position and I have compassion for her. But she knew her husband was a hound dog yet said Lewinsky was a liar and he a victim of a vast right-wing conspiracy, and said very nasty things about Gennifer Flowers as well. Do I think this all should have been a private matter between them? Yes, but she chose to go on the record in some cases, and I personally consider receiving sexual favors from interns an abuse of power.

      • LAK says:

George Stephanopoulos’s memoir of his time in politics details her responses to Bill’s accusers and he is very clear, with examples, that she attacked them.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

Some of the accusers’ stories were found to have no basis in fact and were thrown out of court. I don’t blame her for attacking them, especially as they were funded by right-wing organizations.

As well, the Lewinsky-Clinton affair was not quite as simple as a preyed-upon intern. I’d say he enjoyed his power, foolishly and recklessly, but he did not exploit it.

Clinton may have been a “womanizer” and plenty of men in politics are, but he was not an abusive POS that way like Weinstein.

In any case it’s galling that outlets like CNN are harping on this when Republican took big money from the NRA and still haven’t passed any gun control after the Las Vegas massacre. Why isn’t CNN asking them to make individual statements – they actually are in a position to do something about this.

      • kacy says:

Sill the Jeffrey Epstein thing, though…

    • MM says:

She defended a rapist when she was a lawyer. The victim was 12 years old I think.

    • Lavin says:

Should Queen Elizabeth be held responsible for Harvey too and should the Queen release a /statements disavowing Harvey through her spokespeople , afterall the Queen gave Harvey a British Honor and had him at a royal presentation at the PAlace and took photos with him. Oh give it up, DEPLORABLES this has squat to do with Obama or Hillary.
Hillary is Not responsible for Harvey and neither is Obama.

The deranged Hillary and Obama hate by some is insane.

Hey GOP, Is Hillary responsible for Trump saying grab them by the p…., too after all he invited her to his wedding.
Is Obama also responsible for Bill Cosby too, since Cosby supported Obama at one point.
The GOP and the Faux news Trump machine trying to blame Obama or Hillary for HW, is ridiculous
I hope those alleged teen girls who were allegedly scared into NOT talking about Trumps alleged issues, are given a chance to now bring their stories out. IMO That’s what Trump and the GOP doesn’t want out, but some News talking heads are now talking about it again.

    • Ksenia says:

I agree that Hilary should not have spoken. It just makes her look even more like a hypocrite: she’s the woman who has stayed with a serial sexual assaulter for decades, while holding herself up as some sort of champion of women’s rights. Sorry, but though I would prefer her ten thousand times over the heinous, bloated cartoon who’s playing president in the White House right now, I don’t like or respect or trust Hilary Clinton.

      • tracking says:

We don’t know that he’s a sexual assaulter, but I do think he exploited his power in service of sexual conquests. I still love HRC, but always found it hard to understand how she stayed with him.

  2. HH says:

While I do think it was important that Clinton and Obama weighed in, it also taught me that we’ve learned nothing from 2016. The media was laser focused on getting a response from Clinton, much like they were focused on her emails. It’s not that there isn’t an important story there, but not one that warrants the level of coverage that I was seeing. I do think that the Clintons and the Obamas knew/heard something, but perhaps not to the degree of rumors/info that others (those in Hollywood or keep with gossio) would have. This doesn’t look good for either of them, but people are trying to hold them accountable for taking donations (in a country where campaigns run 2 years and cost hundreds of millions of dollars) while the sitting president may start a nuclear war via Twitter.

    • Tiffany says:

Bitching about Hillary Rodham Clinton is good for ratings. The media is so obsessed with getting the lowest of the low to watch them, this is the result. The media deserves to much shade it will be permanently dark.

      • Betsy says:

I am so tired of the average crap level our media does. Yes, they stand between us and GOP dictatorship, but we wouldn’t be nearly so close to this kind of brinksmanship if they did their dang jobs.

I think I will begin supporting more small(-er) media like Mother Jones, Christian Science Monitor and the New Yorker. The New York Times can just sit down at this point, I’m so disgusted with their lackluster work.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

They’re not standing very well, they’re sort of slumping. I gave up on the NY Times months ago and we subscribe to the Washington Post. ProPublica is a a good non-profit investigative organization, too. And everybody’s local papers, especially if locally owned, really deserve support.

  3. denisemich says:

okay. As I said in a previous post, I don’t believe the Obamas knew anything about Harvey prior to allowing their daughter to take the position. However, I do question if they found out after or during her time there. It is very interesting to me that this all comes out less than 2 months after his daughter finished her internship

    • MousyB says:

Yeah I was thinking the same thing…we’ll probably never know or not until Malia opens up about what her time there was like.

    • V4Real says:

Even a predator like Harvey knew where to draw the line. I doubt he would try anything with President Obama’s daughter, yes I still call him that. Besides she was not trying to be an up and coming actress.

I believe he didn’t try anything with JLaw either. She was too established in her career unlike AJ and Paltrow was. JLaw was already America’s sweetheart, he knew better.

And why do people think Hilary and Obama owe them a statement. They were friendly with the man, not friends. They could have heard rumors but just brushed it off as that. Every celeb has rumors out about them. Until these brave women started coming forward that’s all it was, rumors. A lot of us had heard the rumors about Cosby but took it as that. It was not until these women came forward that we found the rumors to be true.

Now Ben and Matt, I’m so disappointed. I believe Ben knew this more to be true than rumors.

      • Iknowwhatboyslike says:

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but JLaw became “America’s Sweet heart” because of Harvey PR branding for Silver Linings Playbook? She was in the Hunger Games, but wasn’t at the level to have garnered such a role and such backing. Not saying anything, but pre-Oscar Jlaw seems to me to have been a prime, potential target for harvey, if his modus operandi is to be believed Not now, of course. But a few years ago, maybe.

    • Iknowwhatboyslike says:

I was secretly thinking about this. But didn’t want to put it in the universe. For a predator like Harvey, Malia could have been a big fish. Even if she may not be his “type” (he seems to have one), for a pig like him, the thrill of the President’s daughter could be the ultimate power validation. I want to cry.

P.S. Ronan Farrow worked for Obama. He has his own Hollywood axe to grind, but what if he has other incentive to go so hard after Harvey?

      • Who ARE These People? says:

More likely it was a status thing to have a presidential daughter working for the company, not a potential conquest, and she probably worked far away from him – at least let’s hope so!

Ronan Farrow did his journalistic homework. Sometimes, a good piece of reporting may damage political donors or figures but it doesn’t mean you have an axe to grind (even if you want to). He was working on this piece for nearly a year.

      • Jax says:

Yes. Let’s start writing “fan fiction” about this, because the details of what’s actually out there are not horrific enough.

    • LAK says:

It’s naive in the extreme to think the Obamas or even Clinton didn’t know about Harvey. One of Obama’s former aides, Tommy Vietnor, tweeted that ‘HW was a known scum bag’ when the first story popped up last week.

That said, i can give them the benefit of doubt in not knowing *extent* of Harvey’s misbehaviour, but to say they knew nothing really stretches credibility especially of 2 sets of poeple who are consumate politicians who have had to claw their way to the top in very murky waters in Arkansas and Chicago.

      • MousyB says:

        Yup.

      • Erinn says:

I’m not sure I’m willing to give Obama that benefit. I love the guy – honestly, I do. But when every thread where someone says “I didn’t know the extent” or “I didn’t know this was happening” is flooded with comments of “He knew, he knew he knew” why is Obama getting a pass? Obama who you would think would take a moment to say “Hmm. Hollywood is filled with child predators, maybe I should vet the company my daughter will be interning for” – because I sure as hell know that my own father would be googling the crap out of this kind of thing because even living in a rural area of Eastern Canada we KNOW that HWood is filled with abusers and pedophiles.

So I don’t know. I’m kind of bothered by the fact that certain celebrities are getting skewered for their comments and others are getting passes. I think it’s very possible a lot of people didn’t know the extent – especially men. Because men weren’t the targets of HW and the women who were were threatened into silence. But if we’re expecting all of the people in Hollywood to know the kind of things that were happening – I think we should expect the same from a President who had a family member intern for the company and who was friendly with at least a few celebrities.

      • denisemich says:

Being a scumbag and being a rapist is not the same thing. Harvey did a lot of shitty things not including assaulting women. He ruined movies by cutting them himself, he debased directors and he treated all his staff like crap. Those things alone qualify him as a scumbag.

I don’t think Malia being the president’s daughter would make him not hit on her. The women making complaints aren’t BROWN. Malia is ethnically outside of Harvey’s assault wheelhouse

But he didn’t have to assault Malia. Just being at that company she had to have heard what was happening.

      • Lucy says:

Tommy Vietor and Obama speechwriters Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett are very close friends with Ronan Farrow so they probably heard about the rumours as he was investigating.

      • Unknown1234 says:

This. You don’t think the secret service wasn’t aware of all this before she took the internship. I’m supposed to believe no one at the secret service didn’t at least say “hey, you know there are these rumors.” At the very least they knew coached her and assumed the Secret Service could protect her. And if they didn’t know before the internship was announced you mean to tell my none of their Hollywood contacts didn’t call them up and say hey maybe not such a good idea. Nathan Lane says he was attacked by Harvey at a Hillary’s party so at the Secret Service witnessed at least one “bad” act. This they didn’t know narrative is horribly naive. And angers me to no end.

    • Lizzie says:

if anyone thinks malia obama was subject to anything but the best, most respectful treatment they are crazy. she probably met the guy once on her first day. now it is malia’s responsibility to comment on her damn internship?

THIS WORLD IS OFF THE MOTHER FUCKING RAILS

      • Esmom says:

It is. In fact I was marveling (not in a happy way) just this morning as I listened to a story about the CA wildfires at just how fast it’s gone so far off the rails.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

        Excellent summary.

        Yeah, off the rails.

    • ANOTHER DAY says:

They had access to the finest intelligence dossier available possibly in the effin world and the man was a guest in the WH over 15 Times. Often overnight.

      Ladies please. Don’t be naive.

They damn well knew he wasn’t a “fine human being.” But they also knew he was rich, influential and bundled their donations.

I’m sick and damn tired of tendancy on social media to try and play “my political team” one ups man ship in this horror show. There are sexual predators of all political ilk and this “but YOUR side” crap is sickening.

Have some respect for sexual predation victims and quit looking at the political affiliation of the predator and their enablers as a way to excuse your team or score points against the other team. THESE ASSHOLES ARE REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRATS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.

This shit isn’t a political game. This shit is warfare.

      • Unknown1234 says:

        YES YES YES

      • Jules343 says:

Thank you! He also hosted big fundraisers for both, and every politician very thoroughly vet’s everyone who does that. There is absolutely no way they didn’t both know of the rumours.

      • Kitten says:

Eh. I agree with your point that we should never excuse predators based on political affiliation and I think these threads are a great example of liberals instantly condemning Harvey Weinstein, an abhorrent sexual predator and well-known lib—–as we ALL should.

That being said, I’m not feeling the “both sides! both sides!’ part of your argument here.

It’s not really the same in that GOP candidates use their campaigns to spread their own agenda against a perceived defect in modern-day society’s sexuality (hello party of “family values”) yet too often are sexual deviants/predators behind closed doors.
It’s that level of hypocrisy that really sets the two parties apart.

In fact, there are frighteningly direct correlations between those Republican politicians/public officials that rail against homosexuality only to be found cruisin’ in local parks or picking up young boys for sex. Also a correlation between those that talk about the sanctity of marriage and abstinence and those that cheat on their wives and molest underage girls.

Additionally, the Republicans GREATLY exceed the Dems in terms of sex scandals by a significant and concerning margin.

So it’s not that there aren’t Democratic sexual deviants, but it remains true that the vast majority of creeps and predators are members of the GOP.

And if you have any doubts, Just look at the man who is currently holding the highest office in the country for proof. Republicans cared not about his sordid past, the multiple accusations of rape, even one against a 13-year-old. This is the party of Family Values who hired an accused serial sexual assaulter to run the country. The optics of that is pretty bad, don’t you think?

      • ANOTHER DAY says:

Nice try Kitten but I’m pretty sure none of the victims feel better that their perpetrators or enablers were on the right or should I say preferred political team If you feel better going there…..then you do you.

I hate all sexual predators with equal venom.

      • ANOTHER DAY says:

I just have to say this.

NO VICTIM has ever ended her story with “well at least my abuser was a democrat (or republican). “

Republican abusers are worse because they hypocricize family values? Well hell, then the corollary has to be Democrat abusers hypocricize women’s rights.

What an inane conversation to have.

This is abuse . I don’t give a flying f whose side you are on politically or who you think does it more (or less) politically,

Sexual harrassment and abuse is a crime. Lock them all up.

      • Steph says:

        Hell yeah!

  4. ArchieGoodwin says:

Twitter took care of KAC right fast, don’t anyone worry. It was some of the best tweets I’ve ever read.

    • Megan says:

Eight days ago four US troops were killed in a terrorist ambush in Niger. Trump has said nothing and Congress has yet to call for hearings. But Benghazi ….

  5. Aiobhan Targaryen says:

I am honestly not sure why either one of them had to release a statement at all about this. This is quickly getting out of control and too political and I am not here for it. It is starting to get to the point where people are seriously getting entertained by this mess instead of taking it seriously and treating the women and the gravity of this situation with respect.

It is just like, “who can I drag into this now” even though they have nothing really to do with the story, lets pressure them into releasing a statement and then drag that person if they don’t say the right thing- even though they will never say the right thing because that person doesn’t like them and never will.

This story is about a rich perverted rapist who got away with hurting women for twenty years. this is about his victims seeing some sort of justice-even if it is just him being humilated and shamed into temporary non-existence. This is about a culture of rape and abuse of women that needs to end. We can talk about his enablers too as they are a necessary part of the culture to thrive, but Hilary and the Obamas are more than likely not a part of this at all. This story is being used to make people more money, not to get to the truth and stop the bad behavior. I wish I was surprised, but I am really not. You cannot trust anyone when money is involved.

    • Annabelle Bronstein says:

I don’t know, I also think it’s indicative of the fact that Americans are still looking to them for leadership.. you know, the kind of leadership that normally comes from the White House.

      • Esmom says:

Eh, I think it was pure partisan hypocrisy behind the disingenuous condemnation of Hillary and Obama for not speaking out. The GOP and Trump supporters are clearly clamoring for someone on the left to demonize.

      • Aiobhan Targaryen says:

        @ Annabelle Bronstein

You may have a point about some people wanting that, but I don’t really believe that about Liaranne and the MAGGOTS. Dump has been doing everything he possibly can to cover up the fact that he is a loser who has not accomplished anything on his ridiculous and racist agenda and the Russia investigation. This story just fell in his lap and he is going to do anything to keep it in the news. He is doing the same with the NFL story because he doesn’t know how to do anything else but be a bully. The media indulges him because they don’t know how to do their jobs or understand what their jobs actually entail.

  6. Iknowwhatboyslike says:

When I had first read that Malia was going to work at the Weinstein Company, I, like most gossip lovers clutched our pearls. If I had their numbers, I would have called them and told them to send her to Shonda or Oprah, Dreamworks,…. Any where but near Harvey Weinstein. But then I said, this jerk isn’t crazy? The secret service is with her. But now we know he brutalized a girl he’s known since she was a girl. I don’t believe the Obamas knew. Harvey is not going to show his ass around the Obamas or Meryl… people he respects (to what extent he can). He can keep the crazy well hidden. I cannot spin any scenario where Michelle Obama would let her young, beautiful, daughter work for a man who they’ve heard harasses young women.
I can believe the Clinton’s didn’t know he was raping and harassing women left and right, but I can’t believe they’ve never heard rumblings. They’ve been in the game way too long to not have heard anything. I don’t know.

  7. Hunter says:

And your point, Kellyanne? What a moronic tweet. Hillary was probably trying to asses the situation, the inevitable blow-back, the appropriateness, etc. of a statement before she made it. You know, think before you speak? Something Trump should consider before going twitterhappy every time something happens. I’m sure Hillary was horrified by the allegations made of HW and completely aware of how her connection looks. She’s not a stupid woman. So the comments about the timing of her statement are a silly waste of time and energy.

  8. Esmom says:

“Harvey DONATED to Democrats, and those Dems are giving his contributions away and condemning him unequivocally. Republicans elected an admitted sexual assailant to the highest office of the land. Do you see the f–king difference?”

Exactly. And I’ll add that it was the supposed left-leaning “FAKE NEWS” media that broke and is reporting on the story. Why isn’t Trump calling this fake then? Smh.

    • Lizzie says:

well he can’t cry fake news b/c he impulsively reacted with a “i knew it all along” statement that was taped. he didn’t care what network broke the story – he just needed the attention back on him.

trump admits that he himself knew ALL about harvey weinstein. well if trump is such a great guy and a great leader and so focused on ending corruption and draining the swamp why didn’t he tell anyone all the facts he knew about weinstein’s behavior? a few reasons…1) he didn’t actually know b/c he’s a nobody in hollywood and harvey weinstein has probably shit on him to his face 2) he was eager to say “see – this sex assault thing is confusing – it happens to a lot of us men” b/c the men in this are the victims and 3) he’s a selfish moron who has never done anything for anyone other than himself, especially a female abuse victim.

    • Nebby says:

What keeps getting me is that it’s reported that Weinstein donated about 1.4 million to liberals over the decades. Like that’s seriously not enough to buy enough influence in a party and receive this attention. Koch brothers pledged 60 million in 2012 alone, Bill Maher gave 1 mil in 2012, and the Mercers are damn near running republicans. You’d think that Weinstein was calling the shots the way this is being politicized.

  9. Ktgreat says:

Neither Obama nor Hillary have returned the donations. Their donations are not the same as the donations made to the DNC that 10% (!) has been given back. This was money given specifically to both Obama and Hillary.

    • Lizzie says:

well i’m sure clinton has a special list in her personal checkbook that says “harvey weinstein” and is ready to cut a check for multiple millions of dollars from her own bank account within days of hearing this news…..barf

usually when politicians get donations – they spend the money. its not sitting a vault somewhere.

    • Megan says:

Donations were not made to them personally, they were made to campaigns that ended five years ago for Obama and one year ago for Hillary. There is no entity to return the money.

Lawmakers, like Elizabeth Warren, who are still in office keep their campaigns running so they can fundraise throughout their tenure, which is why they have been able to return donations or make donations to women’s organizations.

  10. xena says:

I wanted a statement from Michelle Obama, not because the Obamas owe the public a statement, but because they owe the victims a statement of support. Specifically due to the connection to the Democratic party, and the published information of the internship. And because it is not done with just letting the victims speak. Somehow people seem to think, more or less acknowlediging is enough work done. I don’t think so, that is actually something that angers me because this attitude also creates an enabling environment. If nothing substantial follows these acknowledgements, why are they made?

Public figures do have a certain amount of influencing power. They can strengthen awareness for example. By releasing statements they can create a bit of a protectionshield for the victims. One that shouldn’t be overestimated, but one that is to a certain degree influential. If public is not watching them carefully, it will end in hypocrisis. And this scandal is hopefully huge or could have the potential to be big enough to lead to a change of perception in society. Obama references this also in his statement, but I still think it is lame for someone who is supposed to be such a great public speaker. BTW aren’t politicians in the USA a lot more supposed to act like political stars? I don’t mean Trump now, the whole electing process is always very celebritycentered. So I think it’s ok, to ask political celebrities with contacts to Weinstein for statements .

    • gwen says:

      Great point xena.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

The Obamas don’t owe anybody anything. Yes, they can use their position and influence for good, and they do. But they are not responsible for fixing absolutely everything wrong with the world, are they? Was it not enough that they set a good example as a close and loving family in an ethically upstanding administration? If the former POTUS can use his influence to correct American democracy, that would probably go a long way toward repairing a lot of other problems.

Trump is the president now and he’s the one who should be making a public statement, but he isn’t, because he can’t, because he’s been at least as bad.

  11. SM says:

Yeah. No one is obliged to say anything. I think especially those who do that only to score any public approval points. But the deplorable brought up in this post, Conway could actualy force her self and talk about Harvey in this case because it is the subject matter, not Hillary. But of course we all know how much Republicans care about women and their rights

    • Lavin says:

should Queen Elizabeth give a statement too? She gave him a royal honor and met him at the Palace and took photos?
The GOP is ridiculous and transparent.

  12. Bijou says:

Kind of like it took Trump days to respond to the Charlottesville riot and hurricane Maria…? I hate how conservatives are pretending to give a shit about victims of sexual assault all of a sudden. As long as fits their narrative.

  13. Nelly says:

They weren’t obliged to say anything but you can’t tell me that the secret service/whatever didn’t do a full vet of where Malia was going to intern and find out about HW. I’m not buying that it wasn’t flagged up somehere, sorry.

  14. Otaku Fairy says:

Nothing will satisfy those looking to justify peoples’ votes for (and on top of that, continued unrepentant support of) an administration that embodies white supremacist patriarchy. But the fact that so many big names are coming out against an abuser is still a positive thing. This is the end for Harvey Weinstein even though he’ll probably never see the inside of a prison cell.

They don’t owe anyone a response! And actually I wish they hadn’t said anything. They are not part of the Hollywood machine that enables people like Harvey Weinstein.

I mean yeah they can say I’m not going to take your money because I heard rumors that you are an asshole and and there’s a casting couch system. They weren’t going to do that. Let’s be real here, political candidates don’t vet their donors to that extent and HW wasn’t actually that big of a donor. What he did was give them access to his network and contacts. No politician is going to pass that up based off rumors.

Already I feel like the focus has shifted away from HW and the machine to who knew, who made a statement, why haven’t they made a statement, and their system FB was bullshit. By doing this nothing will change, nothing.

The real focus needs to be on the Hollywood machine and the movers and shakers in Hollywood that enable behavior like this and news flash if you’re looking at Clinton or Obama, you’re not looking in the right direction.

ITA! Patty. I clicked on this article with a lot of trepidation knowing the same sh-t that has been going on since this story broke was going to be ramped up. I feel the justifiable outrage about Harvey’s crimes has turned into the kind of mob mentality frenzy where everyone in proximity also gets torn apart. And that saddens me.

Why Weinstein and not Allen or Polansky?

  17. jugil1 says:

Ahh yes Kellyanne, it may have taken Hillary 5 days to issue a statement, but it’s been 365 days and you still haven’t issued a statement against your boss.

  18. Anna says:

“the Obamas were so out of loop on Hollywood gossip that they actually allowed their daughter, Malia, to intern for The Weinstein Company”
