In the wake of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico is still feeling its devastating effects. More than 90% of the island’s residents are still without power and any progress made is washed away by torrential rains that continue to fall. And, of course, 45 is threatening to pull vital support from FEMA, first responders and the military because he’s a terrible person.

Fortunately, there are some people who genuinely care for the people of Puerto Rico, and they are ready to raise some big money to aid them. Jennifer Lopez, who already donated $1 million to relief efforts herself, teamed up with her ex-husband Marc Anthony to form Somos Uno Voz (We Are One Voice), a humanitarian effort for the victims of Maria. The first big event planned by the initiative is a live fundraising concert and telethon called One Voice: Somos Live!

Marc, along with friends Nicky Jam and Vin Diesel, announced the concert with a clip on Twitter on Wednesday, asserting “We here, we’re strategizing, all in the name of bringing you the best show possible.” Also in the clip, Nicky said he was collaborating with Vin on a song he dubbed “the biggest thing happening in the world”, dedicated to the people of Puerto Rico. Nicky added, “Vin is very, very shy when it comes about his music. I’m the guy who got him into the studio for the first time, and I’m trying to get him out of the studio now.” Vin then interjected, “Can’t stop, won’t stop,” so maybe Nicky will be able to get him on stage. Marc later tweeted another clip of the boys cutting up in a sweet house, with the caption, “These voices are so powerful!”

It won’t take long for us to find out if we will be treated to the song stylings of Vin Diesel, as the concert happens this Saturday at Miami’s Marlins Park. The Somos Live show will feature performances by Marc and Nicky, along with artists including DJ Kahled, Prince Royce and Daddy Yankee. Jennifer, beau Alex Rodriguez and stars including Selena Gomez, Ricky Martin, Demi Lovato, Sofia Vergara and more, will appear via satellite from Los Angeles. The event is so big that rival networks Univision and Telemundo are joining together to simultaneously air the concert live as it happens. The two networks, through their own, independently aired telethons, have already raised a combined $20 million for aid hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Marc also took a moment to blast 45 for his handling of the situation in Puerto Rico. On Thursday, he railed, “Mr. President rest assured that you will be held accountable for every AMERICAN life needlessly lost in Puerto Rico because of your tone-deaf, idiotic, callous and disrespectful approach. History has a way of remembering. Until our last breath, we will not forget.#RISEUP”

In these tumultuous times, it’s kind of life affirming to see so many people come together and help out those in need I applaud the efforts of Jennifer and Marc (and all of the people putting together this benefit) and home it raises a lot of money to help the people of Puerto Rico.

I like how they work together and are friendly. I have a soft spot for Jennifer. She has helped other performers behind the scenes, and some of the excellent work she does isn’t publicized. She always steps up for her community, and I love that.

So glad that so many are doing the work to help Puerto Rico. It’s going to be a long road bavk for the island.

Let’s make sure we don’t forget Puerto Rico and the humanitarian crisis that is happening right now. Help if you can.

It better be one hell of a concert. I truly don’t think trump realizes Puerto Rico is part of the US. He tweeted that FEMA, the military and first responders can’t stay in PR forever! That’s his exclamation point, not mine, of course. He has no problem letting men, women and children starve in the dark without clean water. If his lights flickered, he’d head for cover. What if Barron were crying from hunger. This is an evil POS and he is being permitted to act as such. There is no hope for any of us until he is gone. Jesus, listen to my prayer.

He’s a miserable excuse for a human being. The fact that the Republicans don’t do anything about him is disgusting.

    Dear America,
My heart of hearts cannot comprehend the sh!tstorms you’ve had to persevere in little under a year. We’re going through our own mess with the electoral process for months and meddling of what should be constitutionally approved independent institutions, but I’ll take a moment and whisper a prayer for all of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your afflictions have broken my heart – we have wept with you, rooted for you and choose to believe your sovereignty will prevail. We wish we could do more and hope we both get the reforms we desperately require. PR, #Godspeed. I hope my little contribution helped someone or a pet.

    Love, Kenya.

Thank you Lilian. This made me tear up this morning. Enduring this disaster of the Presidency…. I just don’t even have words that describe what it’s like to wake up every day with a monster in the White House. Wishing you all the best in Kenya, in solidarity <3

Bravo! My parents met Marc Anthony and they said he was the nicest guy around. His cheating ways aside, I’ve always heard this about him. He has an orphanage in DR blocks away from where my parents live. I knew he’d come through for PR. And I knew Jennifer would too. Love them xoxo
