Kirstie Alley wants to get Oprah and John Travolta to lose weight with her

kirstieoprahheader
Kirstie Alley is said to be planning to enlist some friends to join her in her quest to lose weight, including fellow Scientologist John Travolta and talkshow queen Oprah Winfrey. This story originates in Star Magazine, so it’s just as likely to be made up. It has an element of truth to it, though, and it’s a good idea to ask friends to provide support when you’re trying to lose weight:

After gaining back all the pounds she shed when she acted as the face of Jenny Craig, The Fat Actress star, 58, has decided to find her own formula for success, and she wants Oprah Winfrey, John Travolta and Janet Jackson to join her…

Now she believes that if she enlists dedicated partners like her good friend Oprah, “they could all get skinny and stay that way by motivating each other,” says the pal.

[From Star Magazine, print edition, June 22, 2009]

I follow Kirstie on Twitter, and she really loves to engage with her fans and tweets frequently. She’s kind of wacky but fun if you can tolerate her, and set up a contest yesterday through which she offered the winner $200 for the best answer to the question “What would you do to a paparazzi if you caught them filming your children coming out of school?” (I retyped this because Kirstie had it all in in caps of course.) She gave the money to a user who answered “Make him have sex with Perez Hilton.”

Kirstie has been tweeting about her “hot” trainer and his hard workouts and she also lets people know that she’s lining up business meetings. She also says that she always tries to have “three sources of income.” I wonder what she has in the works.

If this story about getting her friends to join her to lose weight is true, and that’s a big if, I wonder if she’s trying to lend more celebrity power to whatever diet and exercise program she’s trying to develop. If she can claim that it helped the allmighty Oprah along with John Travolta and/or Janet Jackson, she’ll get much more press for whatever she’s planning. If Kirstie is successful, I bet we’ll see a book out from her in the next 6-9 months.

She’s probably trying to get Oprah to join Scientology – bet the Scienos would LOVE to get their hands on Oprah! Think how many fans she has, and how many more people might suddenly decide it can’t be bad if Oprah does it.

And no one deserves to be forced into sex with Perez Hilton. Well, maybe child molestors.

  2. bob lawblaw (nony) says:

dollar signs, that’s all scienos see.

  3. BiggieShortie says:

Kirstie seems like one miserable, nasty beyotch and I wish she’d hop on Xenu’s space ship and take off already.
She needs to worry about the size of her OWN ass, and the health ramifications and stop trying to glom on to Oprah and that other Xenu freak Revolta.
Alley is quite irrelevant any more, and her hostile temperament is just tiresome.

  4. BiggieShortie says:

All she needs to do is eat sensibly and move her ass around. It’s not rocket science. What in the hell does she think she can tell people that will be any different than what they can accomplish on their own, if they really want to?
She is an opportunistic dipshit. She has yo-yo’d SO many times, nothing she has to say will convince me that “this time it’s for real” and so I should pay her for her secrets.
    She’s a phony.

  5. nimble minx says:

    “if you can tolerate her”.

and, truth be told, not many people can.

and BiggieShortie, you’re exactly right. It’s NOT rocket science. Eat less (or at least eat more healthy foods) and exercise more.

but if $cientology can “cure” autism and homosexuality, why can’t they help this woman lose weight? seems a much more simple problem than the other things that her “religion” can cure.

  6. Bros says:

why doesnt this hell beast leave everyone alone? How long is the public required to give a sh*t about her weight? what a needy woman that she constantly needs people to pay attention to her weight struggles. cant washed up addict celebs just fight their battles in private? I am so sick of her dragging her ass everywhere trying to dredge up attention and sympathy.

  7. Green Is Good says:

Kirstie needs major therapy to figure out WHY she’s a binge eater. All the diets in the world won’t change the fact she’s emotionally screwed up.

Getting out of that cult she belongs to might help.

  8. geronimo says:

What a bore she is. If she put the same amount of effort and energy into losing weight as she does into talking about losing weight and/or whining about and making excuses for why she can’t lose weight, she’d probably be half the size she is and doing something productive with her life inside of boring everyone into an upright coma. If anyone ever needed further proof that scientology dulls the brain, here it all, all 230 flabby, dull-witted lbs of it.

  9. SolitaryAngel says:

    Potato.

  10. El Predicto says:

What a joke…the only reason she re-gained the weight was to get another magazine cover, and reap the ensuing publicity. Other than being fat she has become completely irrelevant.

  11. Tess says:

Not enough mother love. Filling up that emptiness is a lifelong quest.

    Chaz, Kirstie, Oprah, etc.

  12. Fan of none... says:

Three of the biggest yo-yo dieters around (no pun intended). Throw in J Jackson, M Carey, K Clarkson, V Vaughn, B Spears, C Wilson, etc. But she said on Oprah that she had to find her OWN PERSONAL way, so…

It’s easier to starve/over-exercise/pill pop than it is to open up, be honest, and actually do some emotional/mental work. *personal experience*

Echoing others…you know HOW to lose weight, find out WHY you keep gaining it back if you really don’t want to…So unless she means they attend GROUP THERAPY together, she can give it a rest.

  13. Call Me Al says:

gosh there are some mean people on here. it’s hard to lose weight you a-holes!!!!!!!

  14. Cinderella says:

She has tried and failed enough to call it a day. Her passion is obviously eating. Eat away and stop talking about it because nothing’s going to change.

  15. nimble minx says:

no, it’s not hard to lose weight, it’s HARD WORK to lose weight. it’s actually easy to lose weight if you’re willing to do what’s required of you in order to lose the pounds. (this excludes those with hormonal problems, of course.)

if she stopped stuffing her pie hole with junk and actually ate healthy foods and EXERCISED, she’d be able to do it.

personally, I didn’t even need to change my eating habits that much to do it, I just had to work out about 20-30 minutes a day, five days a week. and I don’t even have a personal trainer, which she could well afford. as well as a nutritionist who could plan healthy meals for her.

there’s not that much required for HER to lose weight, she just lacks the willpower or motivation to do so.

  16. drm says:

She needs to read “Screw Inner Beauty” great book, great philosophy

  17. Jag says:

She’s totally trying to start her own weight loss plan, and having those stars on board would make it seem “legit.” I hope that they don’t fall for it…

  18. eternalcanadian says:

are you serious? the woman has money and time to hire a personal trainer and chef, why does she need to drag oprah and john into her personal problems? she needs to get off twitter and the computer and get working out and eating less.

  19. Sunnyjyl says:

I’d like her to bring back, “Fat Actress”/ That was one fake reality show that cracked me up.

  20. Magsy says:

At this point in her career she may as well revel in her girth and buy some kick ass designer tent dresses. F*ck it or fight it baby!
