Brad Pitt wants Brangaloonie Ann Curry to stop touching him

The face touching is at 5:20 into the video above

When Brad Pitt was in Cannes to promote Inglourious Basterds, he gave an exclusive interview to Ann Curry of the Today Show. Ann is one Brangelina’s favorites – she’s interviewed both Brad and Angelina multiple times, often as some kind of “exclusive”. I’m not sure what happened to the vastly superior Good Morning America hostess Diane Sawyer, who used to be the person Brad went to for big interviews, but I digress.

As many will remember (or review in the above link) in the Ann Curry Cannes interview, Ann fondled Brad at one point, reaching over and touching his face in kind of a grossly too-intimate way. According to Star magazine, Ann’s touchy-feely journalism was the last straw. Brad has now put some kind of codicil in his interview contracts that there will be “No touching of The Pitt.”

Brad Pitt is more than a little touchy these days. He has added a clause to his publicity contract forbidding reporters from laying a finger on him!

After NBC’s Ann Curry unexpectedly squeezed his face during a May 20 chat, Brad decided to get a handle on grabby interviewers.

“He’s tired of being poked and prodded like a piece of meat,” a source tells Star. “From now on, if you want to talk to Brad, you’ll have to keep your hands to yourself. Or risk getting sued!”

Would it be worth it?

[From Star Magazine, print edition, June 22 2009]

Chuckle. I’m not sure if I believe it, but it’s pretty funny. I can actually imagine Brad physically trying to dodge the fondling of multiple interviewers.

A few days ago, OK! Magazine ran this weird interview with Ann Curry where she seems… dare I say it… like a full-fledged Brangaloonie. She’s working hard for those Brangaloonie merit badges, too. She’s already got the “Zahara’s Birdcalling” patch and the “Pax’s Build-A-Fire” pin. You know, I’m a fan of both Brad and Angelina, but this kind of gushing doesn’t do much for our cause:

Most people won’t have the chance to see Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt in person, much less speak to them, but NBC journalist Ann Curry has interviewed the couple many times, and says they’re just as impressive in person as they are in magazines and movies.

“I like her a lot,” Ann tells OK! at the UJA-Federation of New York’s Leadership Awards Dinner on June 9 of interviewing Angie. ” I see her as a very smart person, a very compassionate person who does movies.”

But beyond talking about Angelina’s work onscreen, Ann says they also chat about what really matters in life.

“What I love is that when you talk to actors you know the good they can do – it’s really touching because there are so many reasons why they could be just selfish and focus on themselves, but they’re not,” Ann explains to OK!. “When very, very powerful people like Angie and Brad are focused on lovely projects that really change peoples’ lives you just want to applaud them. It’s just fantastic.”

Speaking of fantastic projects, Ann let it slip that the power couple might have something big in the works.

“In fact I may be talking to Angie coming up very soon,” Ann reveals, adding that while she can’t tell all right now, it’s “something important and I’m excited to see her again.”

[From OK! Magazine]

“I’m excited to see her again.” Yes, of course, Ann. Because you’re a full-fledged Brangaloonie! Or is this just about Ann wanting all of the Brange’s exclusives? They’re probably two of the biggest “gets” of entertainment journalism, and it makes sense that Ann would talk up someone if she hopes that person will give her some kind of scoop. So, what will Angelina’s big announcement be? Oh my God, triplets! No touching, Ann!

lol @ “no touching of the pitt”.

  2. wow says:

He is so uncharming its painful!

But at least Tom Ford did a great job.

  3. ash says:

I saw that interview a while back. I’d be that way too, she was SO awkward to watch. VERY uncomfortable.

  4. kap says:

They seem to like Curry and do give her exclusives, but she’s a pretty awful interviewer IMO, but maybe that’s why they like her, she doesn’t ask hard questions.

  5. nimble minx says:

if it’s true, I don’t blame him one bit.

that was inappropriate of her to touch him like that.

think about if Matt Lauer or some other male interviewer had touched a female interviewee like that?

unwanted touching is unwanted, whether it’s female touching male or the other way around.

  6. Sauronsarmy says:

Oh Brad, if you think thats bad I suggest never meeting any of your loonie fans.

  7. Iggles says:

OMG! At 5:22 she actually touches his face and does this awkward/scary laugh. Oh man, he’s so uncomfortable in this interview.

She is WAY too involved and interested in him. She has crazy eyes. Kudos to Brad for being professional and not running away..

  8. Lucky says:

Exclusive interview with SALT star Angelina Jolie: Brangelina adopting African son.

  9. bagladey says:

Why would an interviewer just suddenly hold onto the face of the person they were interviewing? It was very awkward and Ann Curry’s behaviour was very unprofessional. It’s obvious that Ann Curry has a serious crush on Brad Pitt, and maybe “Angie” as well.

  10. michellle says:

    AC behaved like an idiot.

  11. Fan of none... says:

When Sawyer had him last, she asked him a few “direct” ??’s at the beginning of this scandal. She made him squirm. Then anyone after that was told what could/not be asked for a brief time.

Curry is an easy lay, obvious in her admiration, and thought to be harmless. She eventually also made him squirm. In the worse way.

I don’t think he put this in his clause, though. I’m sure the rest of the sane world knows she was out-of-line, including herself. But it’s too late and on tape.

As for that possible AJ meeting, it’s gonna be AWKWAAAARD….

  12. Toe says:

I’ve searched everywhere for that Dian e Sawyer interview. Not even on youtube. Anyone has a link?

  13. Fan of none... says:

I can’t find it either…it’s plenty of articles ABOUT it, but not the video itself…

And I HATE those “body language experts,” but his physical demeanor is…notable. Whatever fanatics think, if you look at him (on an old video tape), he’s more animated when the personal ??’s come out. A few of the articles mentions this as well. It’s understandable.

  14. Feebee says:

Holy cow!?! I’m listening to the i/v, watching the clock edge towards 5:20 thinking, how in the hell does she work in touching his face?? Then it happened and it was so inappropriate, totally out of the blue, totally out of context (can’t think when this behaviour would be in context though). Ewwwww, it was creepy and uncomfortable. Wouldn’t surprise me if Pitt scratched further Ann Curry requests for i/vs. ICK.

  15. kelly says:

Brad last did an interview with Diane in Fall 2007 for Jeese James and they had great rapport. They spoke about aging, singing to his kids at bedtime. There was no tension. Lovely interview lasted about 3 minutes

  16. Fan of none... says:

The interview I’m talking about was in ’05 for “…Smith.” The more intimate one-on-one hour long one when she traveled w/ him to Africa. My bad on the “last.” You’re right.

It was the first personal interview that dealt with of all of this (less 4 or 5 kids), that’s why he might have been more uncomfortable with answering.

By ’07, it was well on it’s way to as it appears now – at a fever pitch.

  17. zip says:

anne curry is batso. soooo unprofessional to touch a person that way — kind of like stroking him on camera — during an interview. she fauned all over him. she’s the worst so-called journalist i’ve ever seen.

    what a bozo.

  18. cassie says:

Didn’t Ann apologize for her less than professional behavior ?

  19. anonymous says:

Ann Curry was super awkward – but Brad is such a tool. He sounds like a stoned 26 year old surfer. He sucks.

  20. Cinderella says:

She is just flat out creepy. Right before the face grab, he was trying to look away and she kept getting up in his grill.

I wish he would have embarrassed her and told her not to touch him.

  21. Ned says:

The ladies still want Brad Pitt. At least the older ladies.

I guess for some women he is still this sexiest man alive.

Ann Curry is obviously very attractive to him.

It’s not really an “interview”. More like a woman getting to meet the movie star of her dreams.

  22. ash says:

omg cinderella, that would have been HILARIOUS…

then she would have tried to play it off and say ” touch you, okay!” and do it again. *laughs*

  23. Casey says:

I hope it’s true. I watched that interview when it aired and she really was totally nauseating. If she has a crush on him, fine. Lots of people do, but that’s no reason to act so adolescent and unprofessional. He looked like he couldn’t get away from her fast enough.

  24. BlueSkies says:

She’s a creepy reporter but she is so lovable as herself on late night talk shows.

  25. Ana says:

It reminds me of a pregnant woman and how everyone in the world thinks you’re public proptery-rubbing the belly and talking to the belly.
    I hated it. I don’t blame him.

  26. Maritza says:

Good for him, how dare she treat the Pitt as a piece of meat! Hands off, I say!

  27. fizXgirl314 says:

how DARE she touch brad pitt… does she not know that only the few and worthy get to bask in his presence? *eyeroll*…

why is this couple so sought after? i don’t get it… pitt doesn’t even seem jolie’s type… he comes off as a bumbling idiot

  28. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

I doubt this clause is true, but I can’t say I would blame him. It was really creepy and I don’t like people invading my physical space like that. At ALL.

  29. Snoopchew says:

That smacked of entitlement. He should have said “Don’t do that” and end of interview. Get the camera off of him and his embarassment. Then quickly go back to Matt and Meradith.

  30. Yae says:

She thinks he’s humble……but don’t dare touch him.
That looked like an accidental “mommy touch”. I got all touchy when my son was a toddler. I would bite my lip to control my hands with other people because I was used to being so huggy kissy with my son constantly. I could barely talk to someone without touching their arm. My serotonin must have been at an all time high. For Brad to put a “don’t touch me” clause in his interviews? Overkill a bit.

  31. Jag says:

Wow he really handled that well. She was completely inappropriate and I hope that he does put it in contracts now that reporters can’t touch him. That’s invading his personal space, and even though he’s famous, that’s uncalled for. I side with Brad on this one. (as a person who isn’t touchy-feely with strangers)

  32. Trillion says:

Personally, I think Brad does not want to come off like a snob. He does what he can to make sure we think of him as a regular dude, but the result affects some as “stoner” like. As for this story, it is far from fresh. I saw this on The Soup weeks, maybe months, ago.

  33. Yoshi.6 says:

It was really painful to watch.

  34. light bulb says:

Ann Curry did pretty much the same thing to George Clooney when she was interviewing him while reporting on the Darfur situation from Chad at the beginning of the year.

  35. Jan says:

    Wow, How EMBARRASSING for her!!

As a “serious” journalist, she came off as an adolescent fan, testing her sexuality!!

She literally looks like an idiot. Also, sadly, human…..

  36. K McFarlane says:

I used to like Ann but she’s just got too lightweight to take seriously now. She gets all silly and giggly round the stars and it’s embarrassing to watch – not to mention that she never gets anything of substance out of them.

  37. Jano says:

I love both of them, your all crazy.

nimble minx, when you touch people with a loving hand it’s just a way to convey your feelings.

I saw nothing wrong with her behavior, she’s a friend to him, not just a reporter. How do we really know they don’t all get together with their kids for playdates.

Now his crazy ascot look… ya that sucks. Would rather see him in a
    t-shirt and jeans.

  38. Jano says:

Now this is what I think of when I think of with unwanted attention

Fri Jun 12, 8:33 pm ET
LAWRENCE, Mass. – A well-known Massachusetts defense lawyer faces an assault and battery charge after a female attorney said he bear-hugged her and put his chin on her shoulder in court. Attorney Pamela Saia-Rogers told Lawrence police that attorney Robert LeBlanc assaulted her in November 2008 while she was talking the other attorneys in Lawrence District Court.

An assistant clerk magistrate in Woburn District Court found probable cause for the charge this week.

According to a police report, the 64-year-old grabbed the 39-year-old from behind, “wrapped his arms around her midsection just below her breast and pulled her tightly to him pressing his pelvis against her backside” in a bear-hug.

LeBlanc, of Methuen, denied the charges.

No arraignment date has been set.

  39. Yae says:

    Jano,

Indeed. Now thats more what I think of when I think “inappropriate touching”.

  40. Christina X says:

I want Brad Pitt to stop being a whiny bitch, but I don’t see that stopping any time soon.

He deserves to be poked. Repeatedly.

He’s so cold and unanimated. No thanks. For the record, I prefer beefcake movie hunk Brad a million times to this Brad…and that’s really saying something because I was never a Brad Pitt fan.

  41. Tammy says:

She is a pushy woman but he is so full of himself! He seems so arrogant and not that bright.

  42. nimble minx says:

“when you touch people with a loving hand it’s just a way to convey your feelings.”

sure…but where does a REPORTER get off touching an INTERVEIWEE like that?

no reporter should “touch people with a loving hand” during an interview.

  43. orion70 says:

I wondered about the ascot too….is it cold in Cannes?

yeah i’d be a bit icked out if i didn’t know the person. i’m a bit weird over my personal space, and I come from a lovey dovey family so it’s not that. I just gotta know people….or be drunk haha.

I would go batshit crazy if the example Jano gave ever remotely happened at work, and i’m not all that PC.

  44. Hank77 says:

Yeah, I know Ann. She’s definitely a nutcase allright. All she does is talk about Hollywood Hunk this and Hollywood Hunk that. You’d think she’d grow up and stop acting like a teenybopper school girl. She’s in her 50s for Chrissake! Oh well, some women don’t get any bang-bang and will literally throw themselves at the first hunk they see, taken or not, on camera or not, etc. She’s definitely done this before and should be fired for her unprofessional manner.
